James Twigg
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- James Corbett Twigg Sr., 82, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Kankakee, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002).
Services will be held at Gospel Assembly Church, Phoenix.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Mr. Twigg worked at Mortell's in Kankakee for many years before retiring and moving to Arizona.
He was born in November 1920, in Morgantown, W.Va., the son of Lorenzo and Minnie Twigg.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Deb Twigg and Daniel Twigg, all of Apache Junction, Ariz., David Twigg of Kankakee; one daughter, Cynthia Thomas of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One brother, Elvin Twigg; and one sister, Beaulah Twigg, are deceased.
Mr. Twigg was a longtime member of Gospel Assembly Church in Bourbonnais.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in church.
Joseph Bottando
MANTENO -- Joseph L. "Red" Bottando, 81, of Manteno, died Sunday (Dec. 8, 2002) at Momence Meadows Nursing Center.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Brown Funeral Home, Manteno, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bottando was retired from Local 150 Operating Engineers.
He was born Oct. 9, 1921 in Chicago. His parents are deceased.
His wife, the former Virginia B. Durgan, whom he married
Sept. 11, 1982, of Manteno, survives.
Mr. Bottando was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of the Catholic faith.
Justin Carter
Justin Sherman Carter, 14 months old, of Kankakee, died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the 10 a.m. services at Lax Mortuary. Minister Anthony Brooks will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
He was born Sept. 29, 2001, in Chicago, the son of Della Rhalem and Sherman Carter.
Surviving in addition to his parents are maternal grandparents, Joy and John Wilson of Chicago; paternal grandparents, Beatrice and Julius Carter of Chicago; great-uncle, Frankie of Phoenix, Ariz.; special aunts, Jennie and Debbie of Phoenix, Ariz., and Vicky Carter; and several aunts and cousins.
John Kent
John Kent, 78, of Kankakee, died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002) at the Kankakee Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Fitzpatrick Funeral Directors, Kankakee.
The scattering of cremains will take place at a later date in the Mound Grove Scattering Gardens.
He was born June 22, 1924.
Virginia Kochis
Virginia E. Kochis, 87, a five-year resident of Provena Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home, Bourbonnais, formerly of Sauk Village and Chicago, died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002).
Services will be private.
Rago Brothers Funeral Homes, Chicago, is in charge of arrangements.
Her husband, Thomas John Kochis Sr., is deceased.
She was born May 4, 1915.
Surviving are one daughter, Helen (Rainer) Bormann of Bourbonnais; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Gertrude Westendorf and Marie Bensch, both of Michigan; one brother, John (Marie) Zielinski of Michigan; and many nieces.
Three sons, John Sr., James and George, are deceased.
Lawrence Koeberlein
BLOOMINGTON -- Lawrence Koeberlein, 83, of Villa Grove, and the brother of a Loda resident, died Tuesday (Dec.10, 2002) at his home.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. rosary service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Villa Grove, and for one hour Saturday at the Joines Funeral Home, Villa Grove, before the 11 a.m. services at the church. Rev. Paul Skelton will officiate.
Burial, with military rites, will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Pesotum.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Bratcher of Bloomington; and one sister, Cleta Reinhart of Loda.
Donald Krantz
former restaurant owner
CEDAR LAKE, Ind. -- Donald L. Krantz, 72, of Cedar Lake, Ind., and the relative of area residents, died today (Dec. 12, 2002) at St. Anthony's Medical Center, Crown Point, Ind.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Pat Coakley will officiate.
Burial will be in the Peotone cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Keith Sr., John Keith Jr., Lee Gertler, Paul Garrett, Tony Cervantes, Fred Tetreault and Jeff Zoeteman.
Memorials may be made to the Monee Free Methodist Church.
Mr. Krantz was a former custodian for Thornwood High School and former owner and manager of S&S; Steaks Restaurant of Harvey.
He was born May 6, 1930, in Harvey, the son of Clarence and Helen Slover Krantz.
Surviving are his wife, the former Linda Bergold, whom he married
Feb. 23, 1957, in Harvey, of Cedar Lake, Ind.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Gregory and Dawn Krantz of Manhattan, Jonathan Krantz and James Krantz, both of Cedar Lake, Ind.; two grandsons; one sister, Betty Garrett of Peotone; and one brother-in-law, Fred Tetreault of Peotone.
Two sisters, Virginia Keith and Sharon Tetreault, are deceased.
Mr. Krantz was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Monee Free Methodist Church.
Nels Nelson
GRANT PARK -- Services for Nels William Nelson, 91, of Beecher and a former longtime resident of rural Grant Park, were held Dec. 11 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grant Park. Rev. Lon E. Landsmann officiated.
Mr. Nelson died Dec. 7, 2002.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Rich, Larry, and Jerry Lorenz, Paul Kleine, Jerry Piepenbrink and Vernon Hertz.
Blanche O'Bert
BRAIDWOOD -- Blanche O'Bert, 81, of Braidwood, died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002) at the Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru, Ill.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Coleman Coates will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood.
She was born Dec. 12, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Mary Moravec Ryslink.
Her husband, James Francis O'Bert, is deceased.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, James and Pam O'Bert of Algonquin; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Chuck Studer of Peru, Ill.; one sister, Mary Trojak of Aurora; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister, Josephine Ryslink, is deceased.
Mrs. O'Bert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood.
Peter Residori
SOUTH WILMINGTON -- Peter A. "Yitz" Residori, 65, of South Wilmington, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 2002) at Morris Hospital.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, South Wilmington Chapel.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, South Wilmington. Rev. Bob Maternoski will officiate.
Burial will be in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery, Braceville.
Memorials may be made to the South Wilmington Ambulance Fund.
Mr. Residori retired this year from BASF in Joliet.
He was born May 3, 1937 in South Wilmington.
Surviving are his wife, the former Geraldine Casey; one son and daughter-in-law, Peter W. "Peco" and Jodi Residori of South Wilmington; one daughter, Patti Jo Zingre of South Wilmington; seven grandchildren; and his mother, Amelia (Dinelli) Residori of South Wilmington.
His father, Peter J. "Peco" Residori, is deceased.
Mr. Residori was past secretary and treasurer of the South Wilmington Beach and Fireman's Club, and a retired member of the South Wilmington Fire Department.
