Dorothy Sharps
MOMENCE -- Dorothy S. Sharps, 90, of Momence, died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002) at Momence Meadows Health Care.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the Cotter Funeral Home, Momence. Rev. Vernon Arseneau will officiate.
Inurnment will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Momence.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mrs. Sharps had been an aide at Manteno Mental Health Center for 20 years.
She was born June 18, 1912, in Marissa, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Mayhesh Hischar.
Her husband, George J. Sharps, whom she married
May 31, 1933, in Chicago, died in 1963.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Margaret Peterson of Momence, Judy and Richard Franklin of Orangeburg, S.C.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One sister and one brother are deceased.
Mrs. Sharps was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Momence and past president of the Momence Women's Club.
She had also been a troop leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts.
William Stevenson

SAUNEMIN -- William A. Stevenson, 85, of Saunemin, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 2002) at his residence.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, with a rosary service at 3:45 p.m. at the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Cullom, where he was a member. Rev. Steve Loftus will officiate.
Burial, with full military rites, will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Loretto.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Church in Cullom or to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation in Bloomington.
Mr. Stevenson farmed his entire life in Saunemin.
He was a trustee with the Saunemin Fire District; former village board member of Saunemin; and former water commissioner.
He was born July 30, 1917, in Pontiac, the son of William G. and Annabell Tinges Stevenson.
Surviving are his wife, the former Emma Fox Malone, whom he married
June 10, 1946, at St. Mary's Church, Loretto, of Saunemin; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph and Kathy Stevenson of Lebanon, Ill., Mark Stevenson of Oswego, William and Lilliana Stevenson of Saunemin; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary and Vince Wroblewski of Schaumburg, Martha Krutke of Bloomington, Rita and Gene Schlomer of El Paso, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Mervin Stevenson of Stockton, Calif.; and one sister, Helen Nance of Mojave Valley, Ariz.
Two sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Mr. Stevenson served with the U.S. Army 752 tank batallion during World War II in North Africa and Italy. He received the Purple Heart, the Silver Battalion award and five overseas service bars.
Mr. Stevenson was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW and Disabled American Veterans.
He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and a charter member of the Rustic Auto Club.
Marjorie Teesdale

PONTIAC -- Marjorie A. Teesdale, 93, a resident of Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac, formerly of Loda, died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002) at Tjardes Health Care Center, Pontiac.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Pontiac, where she was a member. Rev. Frank Deninger will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Inurnment will be in Pine Ridge cemetery, Loda.
Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Teesdale taught school in Brooks Country School at Gilman and Kemp and Hall schools in rural Paxton.
She was born Dec. 8, 1909, in Salida, Colo., the daughter of Mark and Mabel Singleton Hungerford.
Her husband, Walter H. Teesdale, whom she married
Oct. 15, 1937, in Loda, died March 19, 1990.
She attended Loda schools and Normal Teachers College.
Mrs. Teesdale taught Sunday School in Peoria, including a class for the handicapped, and was active in the United Methodist Womens Clubs.
She was a member of the Community Workshop Parents Group in Peoria.
Frank Barber

Visitation for Frank Barber, 83, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. John Antczak will officiate.
Burial, with military rites by Kankakee American Legion Post 85, will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
He died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Mr. Barber retired in 1978 from the Kankakee Foundry. He had been employed there since he was 16, and had worked his way up to foreman. He had also worked at the Illinois Central Railroad.
He was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Exline, the son of Vincent Barber and Bertha Nixon. His parents are deceased.
His wife, the former Margaret Mary Morrison, whom he married
July 14, 1945 at St. Felix Cathedral in North Hampton, England, died Feb. 25, 1986. Mrs. Barber was born in Limrick, Ireland.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Frank Barber and Jeanne Schore of St. Anne; two daughters and one son-in-law, Catherine (Barber) Rivard and George B. of Moline, Marie (Barber) Konrath of Barrington; two sisters, Catherine Virginia and Herb Conard of Aroma Park, Lois Lena Barber of Mesa, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; one brother and sister-in-law, Anthony George and Elinor Barber of Kankakee; loving companion, Mazie Landry of Kankakee; fishing buddy, Don and Cookie Miller of Manteno; and nine grandchildren, Frank Joseph Barber, Monica Ann Barber, Joshua, Nathan and Jacob Barber, Suzanne Marie Lampe, Melissa Joy Lashbrook, Margaret Louise Rivard and Catherine Mary Konrath.
One brother, Vincent Joseph Barber; and one sister, Elsie May Barber, are deceased.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the European Theatre.
Mr. Barber was a member of the Kankakee VFW, the Senior Citizens of Kankakee, and the South Wilmington Fireman's Sportsman's Club.
He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, metal detecting, reading and Native American culture. (Pd.)
Christopher Sims
BONFIELD -- Services for Christopher D. Sims, 39, of Bonfield, were held Dec. 12 at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Rev. Dan Boone officiated.
Mr. Sims died Dec. 9, 2002.
Burial was in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Ken Battista, Mark Balzer, Sue Brandt, Gary Gross, Leroy Sthay and Tom Gullickson. Honorary pallbearers were Ron Murphy, Drew Walker, Jim Schlieman, Fran Ketter, Dave Fiorenza and Troy Rogers.
Helen Franciskovich
COAL CITY -- A funeral Mass for Helen Franciskovich, 83, of Coal City, was celebrated Dec. 11 at Assumption Catholic Church, Coal City. Rev. Mike Pennock and Deacon Jack Schimandle officiated.
Mrs. Franciskovich died Dec. 8, 2002.
Burial was in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery, Braceville. Pallbearers were Bob and Terry Phillips, Mark Francisco and John, Jim and Ray Tira.
Mavis Hopper
Services for Mavis B. Hopper, 80, of Limestone Township, Kankakee, were held Dec. 12 at Central Christian Church in Bourbonnais. Rev. Richard Sagarsee officiated.
Mrs. Hopper Dec. 8, 2002.
Burial was in the Limestone Township cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff, Lawrence and Roy Zelhart, Suzy Smothers, Don Kane and Ken Cote.
Padraic Collins
MOMENCE -- Visitation for Padraic S. Collins, 38, of Momence, will be from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Cotter Funeral Home, Momence.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence, where he was a member. Rev. Vernon Arseneau will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Momence.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veteran's Fund.
He died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002) at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields.
Mr. Collins was the parts manager at Christiansen Power in Frankfort.
He was born Aug. 19, 1964, in Kankakee, the son of John and Jo An Stark Collins.
Surviving are his wife, the former Becky Smedlund, whom he married
Dec. 25, 1991, in Momence; two daughters, Jessica Sellers and Lindsee Collins, both of Momence; two stepchildren, Rheiannon and Sgt. David Crispen of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Spec. Denium and Zodie Collins of Germany; his parents of Momence; three grandchildren; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Terry and Jerry Buser, Erin McCabe, Kathleen Collins, Shannon and Keith Estes, all of Arizona, Colleen Collins of Bloomington; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeremy and Arian Collins of California and Michael and Lucille Collins of Arizona.
He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry.

DWIGHT -- Marie Houberg, 99, of Dwight, died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002) at the Heritage Nursing Home in Dwight.
Private services will be held.
Burial will be in Oak Lawn cemetery, Dwight.
Hager Memorial Homes, Dwight, are in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Houberg was a former school teacher.
She was born May 1, 1903, in Braidwood, the daughter of James and Margaret Bolero Mattivi.
Her husband, Vernon Houberg, is deceased.
Surviving are four nieces and two nephews.
Two sisters and one brother are deceased.
She was a graduate of the Teachers College at Normal .
Mrs. Houberg was a member of the Farm Bureau.
