CLIFTON -- Karin L. Rahn, 61, of Clifton, died Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2002) at BroMenn Regional Health Center, Normal.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
Ralph Boggs
U.S. Navy veteran
Visitation for Ralph Boggs, 70, of Bourbonnais, will be from 4-9 p.m. Monday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. John Marvin will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
He died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at his home.
Mr. Boggs was a supervisor at A.O. Smith Corporation, retiring in 1988.
He was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Ralph D. and Elizabeth "Betty" Boggs. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Darlene Palmer, whom he married
Aug. 30, 1963, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Kankakee, of Bourbonnais; one son, Mark Boggs of Bourbonnais; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Andrew Johnson of Temecula, Calif.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Jim Courtney of Las Vegas, Nev., Dorothy and Edward Jones of Poway, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Lori Boggs of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A half-brother, Jim Kirchner; and half-sister, Lois Kirchner-Hertz, are deceased.
He was a 1951 graduate of Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, where he served on the 1949-1950 Elite Eight basketball team. He served as president of the BBCHS Athletic Boosters and the Bradley Bourbonnais Pony League.
Mr. Boggs was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War on the Aircraft Carrier US Wasp. He was a member of the Bradley American Legion and the Kankakee VFW. He was also a member of the Christian faith.
He loved playing golf and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.
Lucille Dubie
Lucille Dubie, 93, of Monticello, formerly of Kankakee, died Nov. 23, 2002 at Kirby Hospital in Monticello.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Dubie and her husband owned and operated Uncle Billy's Photography Studio in Kankakee for over 25 years.
She was born Jan. 19, 1909, in Paxton, the daughter of Robert and Clara Bobo Smoot.
Her husband, Willard J. Dubie, is deceased.
Surviving are one stepson, William Dubie of Champaign; two grandchildren, Gayle Toombs of Monticello, Diane Maehl of Spokane, Wash.; and four great-grandchildren.
One brother and one sister are deceased.
Virginia Grafe

DANFORTH -- Visitation for Virginia Marie Grafe, 91, of Danforth, formerly of Sunman, Ind., will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Crescent City. Rev. Wilbur McCasky will officiate.
Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Sunman, Ind.
Memorials may be made to Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth; St. Peter's Lutheran Church Handicapped Restroom; Iroquois Memorial Hospice; or to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Indianapolis, Ind.
Mrs. Grafe died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) at Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth.
She was born Oct. 12, 1911, in Sunman, Ind., the daughter of Louis F. and Christena Wolber Minneman.
Surviving are her husband, Renos W. Grafe, whom she married
Oct. 15, 1932, in Sunman, Ind., of Danforth; one daughter, Ruth Ann Tuttle of Porter, Ind.; one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Harold W. and Sue Grafe of Crescent City; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One brother and one sister are deceased.
She became a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Indianapolis, Ind. in 1933. She taught Sunday School classes beginning in 1944; was active in ALCW serving as auxiliary president many times; was conference president of the Southern Illinois-Missouri conference as well as the Northeast Indiana conference; and served as Illinois District Stewardship secretary for three years.
Marguerite Holm

BRAIDWOOD -- Marguerite "Marge" Holm, 82, of Braidwood, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) at the Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the 7 p.m. services at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel. Rev. Steve Bondi will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Private burial will be held at a later date in Mount Olivet cemetery in Braidwood.
Mrs. Holm had worked as a police dispatcher for the Braidwood Police Department for several years.
She was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Braidwood, the daughter of Alexander and Annie McNamara McElroy.
Her husband, Clarence R. Holm, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond and Bambi Holm of Oak Creek, Wis., Randall Holm of Braidwood; two grandsons, Timothy and Kevin Holm; one sister, Ione Kessler of Sun City, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
One son, Timmy; four brothers, Henry "Hank", Domenic "Red", Alex and John McElroy; and three sisters, Loretta "Lolly" Todd, Kathryn Stehlik and Sadie Dooley, are deceased.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Braidwood.
Eugene Ivy
MANTENO -- Visitation for Eugene Ivy, 94, of Evanston, formerly of Manteno, will be from 2-8 p.m. today, with a 4 p.m. Masonic service at the Brown Funeral Home, Manteno, where services will be at 4:30 p.m. Rev. Harry Gaither will officiate.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Crest Haven cemetery, Olney.
Memorials may be made to the King Home in Evanston; the Manteno Methodist Church; or to the Peotone Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Ivy died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) in Evanston.
Frank Kalata
46-year railroad employee
MANTENO -- Visitation for Frank T. Kalata, 64, of Manteno, was from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home, Manteno.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at noon Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno, where he was a member. Rev. Ed Grotovsky officiated.
Burial, with full military honors, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood.
He died Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Mr. Kalata had been a purchasing agent for 46 years with Illinois Central Railroad.
He was born Jan. 25, 1938, in Chicago, the son of Frank and Rose Janucik Kalata. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Estelle M. Pyka, whom he married

Kreish of Shelbyville, Ind.; one sister and brother-in-law, Lorretta and Ronald Halcarz of Wisconsin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Mildred Kalata of So. Carolina, Ted and Donna Kalata of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother-in-law, Stanley and Betty Pykaof Grapevine, Texas; three grandchildren; one aunt, Helen Kleiber; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kalata was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Anne Sodality.
Blanche Maina

WATSEKA -- Visitation for Blanche Mapes Maina, 94, of Portage, Ind., formerly of Watseka, will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. services at Faith Lutheran Church, Watseka. Rev. Mel Meyer will officiate.
Burial will be in the Danforth cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Watseka.
Arrangements are by the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka.
Mrs. Maina died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at Fountainview Nursing Home in Portage, Ind.
She was born Jan. 6, 1908, in Livingston County, the daughter of Henry R. and Rachel Donaldson Ehrhardt.
She married
W. Spencer Miles in 1926. He died in 1936.
She later married
Harvey Mapes Aug. 1, 1954, in Danforth. He died in 1963.
She then married
Everett Maina Oct. 19, 1980, in Watseka. He died Sept. 19, 1988.
Surviving are one daughter, Elaine Johnston of Portage, Ind.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers; five sisters; one infant son; one infant daughter; and one great-great-grandchild, are deceased.
Mrs. Maina was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Watseka where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Portage, Ind. and also taught Bible school.
She was a talented seamstress and a member of the Sewing Circle, Royal Neighbors of America and the Grandmothers Club.
Lorraine Marquis
BRADENTON, Fla. -- Lorraine E. Marquis, 79, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Bourbonnais, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at Manatee Memorial Hospital.
There will be no visitation.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Covell Cremation and Funeral Center of Bradenton, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 23, 1923.
Surviving are two sisters, Betty Benson of LaGrange, Margery Thompson of Bradenton, Fla.; 10 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Marquis moved to Manatee County from Bourbonnais in 1990.
She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary of Bourbonnais.
