Elizabeth "Betty" Young, 67, of Avondale, Ariz., formerly of the Kankakee area, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002) in Glendale, Ariz.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the 1 p.m. services at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. Curtis Boyer will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Mrs. Young was a retired cashier.
She was born Aug. 29, 1935 in Detroit, Mich.
Her husband, Robert W. Young, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Micheal A. Young and Steven W. Young; one daughter, Katherine A. Murray; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Marie Zinkann

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Marie C. Zinkann, 85, of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Kankakee, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at her home.
Services will be held Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Rev. James L. Vick will officiate.
Burial will be held at a later date in Kankakee.
Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Zinkann had been an executive secretary at Armour Pharmaceutical Company, prior to moving to Chattanooga in 1993.
Her husband, Peter R. Zinkann, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis Zinkann of Ringgold, Ga., Jack Zinkann of Sycamore; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She had been a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose Lodge.
Charles Anders Sr.

SIDNEY -- Charles H. "Charley" Anders Sr., 88, of Sidney, and the father of a Clifton resident, died Saturday (Dec. 7, 2002) at his residence, after a short illness.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Freese Funeral Home in Sidney, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Randy Ross will officiate.
Burial will be in the Locust Grove cemetery, Philo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Unity High School Athletic Department.
Mr. Anders was a retired chemical technician for the University of Illinois School of Animal Science.
He was born July 7, 1914, in Sidney Township, Champaign County, the son of Harvey H. and Mary Louise Guldenphenning Anders. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret A. Hancock, whom he married
June 1, 1938, in Sidney; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Carmen Anders of Clifton; one brother-in-law, George E. Hancock of Fairmount; one granddaughter, Krista and Ryan Meier of Clifton; one grandson, Brad and Amanda Anders of Clifton; one great-granddaughter, Madilyn Anders of Clifton; and one great-grandson, Riley Meier of Clifton.
One brother, Kenneth Anders; and one sister, Lottie Foster, are deceased.
Mr. Anders was a member of the United Church of Sidney.
He enjoyed music, electronics and Unity High School sports. (Pd.)
Roseanne Balluff
MORRIS -- Roseanne Balluff, 69, of Morris, formerly of Elmhurst and the mother of a Rev. Balluff of Gilman, died Sunday (Dec. 8, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the U.C. Davis and Son Funeral Home, Morris.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Piper City, by her son, Rev. John Balluff.
Burial will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Hillside.
Memorials may be made to the Poor Clare Nuns in Minooka.
She was born April 22, 1933, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Florence Morand O'Laughlin. Her parents are deceased.
She was a 1951 graduate of Providence High School, Chicago.
She married
Edward L. Balluff at St. Lucy Catholic Church, Chicago.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Doug Anderson of Batavia; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Vince and Debbie Balluff of Morris, the Rev. John Balluff of Gilman; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Irene O'Laughlin of Manhattan, Kan.
She was a longtime member of the Elmhurst Artist Guild.
Noah Coiley
Noah Andrew Coiley, 2 1/2-month-old son of Isaiah Coiley and Angela Faford of Bourbonnais, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today at All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais.
Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 25, 2002 in Maywood.
Surviving besides his parents are two half-sisters, Jordan Hawkins and Alexis Behl; one half-brother, Isaiah Coiley Jr.; maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Paula and Andrew Bleyle of Kankakee; maternal grandfather, Monte Faford of Arkansas; paternal grandmother, Karleen Coiley of St. Anne; paternal grandfather, Van Coiley of Maywood; maternal great-grandmother, Jean Hubert of Bourbonnais; paternal great-grandmother, Rosie Lee Gray of Maywood; honorary grandparents, Michael and Georgia Love; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Helen Franciskovich
COAL CITY -- Helen Franciskovich, 83, of Coal City, died Sunday (Dec. 8, 2002) at the Morris Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reeves Funeral Home, Coal City.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church, Coal City, where she was a member. Rev. Mike Pennock will officiate.
Burial will be in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Operation Saint Nick.
She was born May 3, 1919, in Canton, the daughter of Matthew and Mary Franciskovich Juricich.
Her husband, John "Yunker" Franciskovich, whom she married
June 24, 1950, in Canton, died in 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Mike (Jolene) Franciskovich and David (Teri Boo) Franciskovich, both of Coal City; three grandchildren and one great-grandson; two brothers, Ray Juricich of Washington and Emil (Jean) Juricich of California; two sisters, Albina Franciskovich and Betty (Larry) Urbanc, both of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Matthew and Robert Juricich; and two sisters, Victoria Kuchan and Mary Juricich, are deceased.
She was a 1937 graduate of Canton High School.

HERSCHER -- Visitation for Merle R. Merrill, 67, of Herscher, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Herscher United Methodist Church. Rev. Jerry Watkins will officiate.
Burial will be in Pilot Township cemetery, Herscher.
Memorials may be made to the Herscher United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
He died Saturday (Dec. 7, 2002) at his home.
Mr. Merrill was a planning accountant for Homeshield Inc. and previously had worked at Roper Corp.
He was born March 23, 1935, in Bradley, the son of Ransom and Clara Ward Merrill. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Alta Wright, whom he married
Sept. 4, 1975, at the Herscher United Methodist Church; one son, Jeffrey Merrill of Herscher; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sheila Merrill Calhoun of Benson, Ariz., Barbara and William Fischer of Chebanse; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Charles Ashford of LaCenter, Ky.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Sandra Merrill of Kankakee, Richard and Joanna Merrill of Paducah, Ky.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Two daughters, Linda and Theresa Merrill; seven brothers, Douglas, Ransom, Francis, Kenneth, Robert, Melvin and Larry Merrill; and two sisters, E. Mae Reardanz and Lucille Schoon, are deceased.
Mr. Merrill was a U.S. Army/Air Force veteran serving from February 1953 - November 1962 as a communications supervisor. He was a member of the Aroma Park American Legion Post 1019.
He attended Herscher United Methodist Church.
Nels Nelson

GRANT PARK -- Visitation for Nels W. Nelson, 91, of Beecher and rural Grant Park, will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hub Funeral Chapel, Grant Park, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at Zion Lutheran Church, Sollitt, where he was a member. Rev. Lon E. Landsmann will officiate.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery, Sollitt.
Memorials may be made to the Anchorage of Beecher or to Zion Lutheran Church.
He died Saturday (Dec. 7, 2002) at the Anchorage of Beecher Nursing Home.
Mr. Nelson was a retired farmer and formerly worked as a field man for the Kankakee County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. He was also a longtime ticket taker for the Will County Fair Association.
He was born Jan. 29, 1911, in Symerton, the son of Nels and Cora Wemstrom Nelson.
His wife, Gladys M. Nelson, whom he married
March 27, 1941, in Lakefield, Minn., died March 31, 1981.
Surviving are his caregivers, the Richard Lorenz family of rural Grant Park; one sister-in-law, Nelda Miller of Kankakee; and several nieces and nephews including, two nieces, Yvonne Piepenbrink of Frankfort, Karen Barnaby of West Hartford, Conn.; and one nephew, Jerry and Pat Piepenbrink of Frankfort.
One sister, Hilda Piepenbrink; and one brother, John Nelson, are deceased.
Mr. Nelson formerly served as a trustee at Zion Lutheran Church in Sollitt.
