LAKE VILLAGE, Ind. -- Harry M. "J.R." Christenson Jr., 67, of Lake Village, Ind., and the father of a Momence resident, died Tuesday (July 30, 2002).
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, Ind., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Fred Zaugg will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to the Lake Village Library.
Mr. Christenson was the owner of Lake Village Auto Parts for 25 years.
Surviving are his wife, Karen; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Dawn Christenson of Morocco, Ind., Wyatt and Connie Christenson of Lake Village, Gary and Karin Styck of Morocco, Allen and Christine Styck of Lafayette, Ind.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tricia and Bryan Schroeder of Momence, Tina and Mark Sipe of Lake Village; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gloria Christenson of Lake Village; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Alan Sparks of Kentland, Ind., June Gribbon of Indianapolis, Ind., Barb and Dean Dawson of Lake Village, Kathy and Dale Wiseman of Morocco; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, Harry Sr. and Mabel Christenson, are deceased.

BLOOMINGTON -- Carol I. Fonger, 77, of Bloomington, and the sister of a Loda resident, died Wednesday (July 31, 2002) at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.
Visitation will be private.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Memorials may be made to the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.
Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fonger and her husband had owned and operated the Standard Oil station in LeRoy for eight years.
She was born June 9, 1925, in Bellflower, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Edith Morling Pendleton.
Her first husband, Ervan Charles Gawthorp, whom she married
Sept. 4, 1942, in Missouri, died in 1984.
Surviving are her husband, Russell Lyle Fonger, whom she married
Dec. 30, 1962, in Bathe; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Daniel and Susie Gawthorp of Urbana, Gregory Gawthorp of Heyworth; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Peggy Kuykendall of Urbana, Christine and Bob Harlan of Ogden, Jennifer and Tom Henson of LeRoy, Sheila and Harold Dunbar of Hudson; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Maurice and Jean Pendleton of Loda, Raymond Pendleton of Remington, Ind.; three sisters, Helen Hudgens of Normal, Mary Goben and Joann Welch, both of Bloomington; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Three sisters, Ruth Wills, Betty Smith and Corlyne Still; and one daughter, Penny Kirby, are deceased.

DWIGHT -- Robert Gall, 55, of Dwight, died Wednesday (July 31, 2002) at St. James Hospital, Pontiac.
Arrangements are pending at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight.
Lorna Howard
BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Lorna B. Henry Howard, 88, of Bellingham, Wash., died July 1, 2002.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the 2 p.m. memorial service at the Reilly-Redenius Funeral Home in Piper City. Rev. Jan Miller will officiate.
Burial will be in Brenton cemetery in Piper City.

Mrs. Howard worked for the Piper City Post Office for 21 years, retiring in 1967.
She was born June 10, 1914 in Piper City, the daughter of Ernest and Maude Scamahorn.
Her first husband, Charles E. Henry, whom she married
in 1936, died in December 1945. Her second husband, Percy Howard, whom she married
in 1947, died in 1986.
Surviving are two brothers, Marion Scamahorn, and Eugene Scamahorn, both of Colville, Wash.; twin sisters, Ethel Houck of Spokane, Wash., and Elsie Rieger of Clinton, Mont.; one son, Bill "Chuck" Henry of Port Townsend, Wash.; one daughter, Linda Pigorsch of Portage, Wis.; two stepsons, Eugene Howard of Littleton, Colo., and Don Howard of Sister Bay, Wis.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren.
One brother, Robert Scamahorn; one grandson, Mark Donley; two stepchildren, Wesley Howard and Joyce Howard Moore; one step daughter-in-law, Virgina Howard; and two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Scamahorn, and Margery Henry, are deceased.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Colville, Wash.
She enjoyed traveling and crafting.

C. Gene Jordan, 68, of Bradley, died Wednesday (July 31, 2002) at his home.
Visitation and services will be held Sunday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
Robert Lange

MONEE -- Robert H. Lange, 71, of Monee, formerly of Peotone, died Wednesday (July 31, 2002) at his home.
Private services will be held.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lange was formerly with the U.S. Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service and a Federal agent. He was also a former fulltime police officer in Harvey and part-time police officer in Monee.
He was born Feb. 8, 1931 in Chicago.
Surviving are three stepbrothers, Thomas R. (Carol) Schmall of Mokena, Henry Edward (Barbarann) Schmall of Tinley Park and Alex (Theresa) Schmall of Seminole, Fla.
He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and a member of the Illinois Sheriff's Association.
Ann Moderhack
VENICE, Fla. -- Ann L. Moderhack, 67, of Venice, Fla., mother of a local resident, died suddenly Tuesday (July 30, 2002) at her home.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Moderhack was born April 15, 1935 in Harvard. She resided in Woodstock prior to moving to Venice, Fla.
Her husband, Kenneth Moderhack, died in 1997.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Chris Hendrickson of Kankakee; one granddaughter, Emilie Hendrickson of Kankakee; and one sister, Marilyn Schaefer of McHenry.
One brother, Allen; and a sister, Paula, are deceased.
Mrs. Moderhack was a Chicago Bears fan, and an active member of the Venice Area Antique Car Club.

Redlands, Calif. -- Henry Abraham Pucek, 87, of Redlands, Calif., brother of Kankakee residents, died Tuesday (July 30, 2002) at Reche Canyon Rehabilitation Center in Colton, Calif.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Redlands, Calif.
Burial will be private.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
Arrangements are by Emmerson Bartlett Mortuary.
Mr. Pucek was a psychotherapist for Los Angeles County for 35 years.
He was co-founder of "Food For the Hungry, " organizer of "Evangelical Welfare Agency, " and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Redlands, Calif.
Mr. Pucek was born March 16, 1915 in Peru, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Pucek of Redlands, Calif.; one stepson, John Gold of Hollywood, Calif.; two brothers, Darwynne Pucek of Parkston, S.D., and Robert Pucek of Kankakee; and one sister, Amy Pucek of Kankakee.
Donald Dirks
ASHKUM -- Services for Donald R. "Hap" Dirks, 86, of Ashkum, were held July 31at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashkum. Rev. Jan Horne officiated.
Mr. Dirks died July 27, 2002.
Burial was in the Danforth cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenny Johnson, David and Brent Welsh, Glen Saathoff, Duane Tammen and Harry Bottorff. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Meents and Roy Lubben.
Rose DeYoung
Services for Rose DeYoung, 88, of Kankakee, were held July 31 at the Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home, St. Anne. Don DeYoung officiated.
Mrs. DeYoung died July 28, 2002.
Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Wichert. Pallbearers were Dan, David, Kenneth, Greg, Scott, Mitch and Brian DeYoung. Junior pallbearers were Luke and Matthew DeYoung. Honorary pallbearers were JoLynn Baily, Tammy Earsly and Lindsey DeYoung.
Nila Zeilstra
LANSING -- Nila M. Zeilstra, 68, of Lansing, mother of a Sheldon resident, died Tuesday (July 30, 2002).
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. Saturday until the 10:30 a.m. services at Drumm Funeral Home, 1200 E. 162nd St. in South Holland.
Burial will be in Chenoa cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Thornton American Legion Auxiliary Post 1070 or The Paul Keller House of Sheldon.
Mrs. Zeilstra was born July 19, 1934, the daughter of Charles and Alberta Gatewood.
Surviving are her children, Suzanne and Rick Light of Sheldon; Walter W. Kosik; David and Cathy Kosik, Donald Kosik; Geraldine and Gary Rimpley, Deborah and Robert Wesley; Judith Wood, Helen and Mark Fraser, Ted and MaryAnn Zeilstra, Jay and Joanne Zeilstra, and Sydney Joy and Tim Fitzgerald; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Charles Gatewood, and Richard and Vicky Gatewood; one sister, Sandra and Giles Jones; several grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Zeilstra was a past president of the Thornton American Legion Auxiliary Post 1070.
She enjoyed sewing and growing flowers both indoors and outdoors.
