BRAIDWOOD -- Michael Peter Pastovich, 48, of Braidwood, died Friday (Sept. 19, 2003) at his home.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Tuesday until the 7 p.m. memorial service at Ferrari Funeral Services in Coal City. Rev. Jennifer Seder will officiate.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Mr. Pastovich was born Aug. 16, 1955 in Chicago, the son of Homer and Mary Ann Pastovich. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Lee Pastovich; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Kerri Pastovich, Nicholas Pastovich; one brother, Henry Pastovich; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jim Gillispie; and three nephews.
Earl Phillips
Earl J. Phillips, 73, of Bourbonnais, died Friday (Sept. 19, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center.
There will be no visitation or services.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Memorials may be made to the family or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
Arrangements are by Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
Mr. Phillips was born Feb. 15, 1930 in St. Anne, the son of Earl L. and Grace Stringer Phillips.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Denise West of Kankakee, Lynn and Jeff Woods of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Margie Silk of Bourbonnais; one stepsister, Flossie Williams of Versailles, Mo.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One brother, Eugene Cooper; and one stepsister, Letha Cox, are deceased.
Mr. Phillips was a member of Bricklayers Union Local 37 since 1950.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a life member of DAV, a member of the Musicians Local 288 for many years, and enjoyed woodworking and music.

Merlin E. Pietraszewsky, 93, of Bourbonnais, died Saturday (Sept. 20, 2003) at Provena Our Lady of Victory.
Arrangements are pending at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
Virginia Taube
Visitation for Virginia "Gin" Margaret Taube, 79, of Kankakee, will be 4-8 p.m. today at Hertz-Thoma Chapel, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. Rev. Robert Erickson will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's of Providence (school and residence for developmentally disabled).
Mrs. Taube died Thursday (Sept. 18, 2003) at Manor Care Health Services.
She was born April 8, 1924 in Kankakee, the daughter of Marvin and Mildred Goode Erickson.
Her husband, Kenneth Warren Taube, whom she married
Aug. 15, 1944 in Kankakee, died Nov. 24, 1989.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Lou Taube of Kankakee, Paul and Cheryl Taube of St. Anne; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Greg Kraft of Janesville, Wis., Sheila and Brian Malone of Kankakee; one sister, Bessie Burns of Kankakee; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Frances Erickson of Bradley, Bill and Suzanne Erickson of Florida, Robert and Nancy Erickson of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Three sisters, Evelyn Erickson, Eileen Ohlenkamp and Betty Linton, are deceased.
Mrs. Taube enjoyed babysitting and caring for others.

GODLEY -- Helen Marie Fox, 91, of Godley, died Thursday (Aug. 14, 2003) at her home.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel. Rev. George Hendricks will officiate.
Burial will be private.
Mrs. Fox was born Jan. 23, 1912 in Chicago.
Her husband, Gilbert L. Fox, is deceased.
Surviving are three sons, Gilbert Fox of Titusville, Fla., Paul Fox of Knoxville, Tenn., Leonard Fox of Braidwood; one daughter, Sandra McClellan of Godley; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Irene Cinotto; and one son, Donald Fox, are deceased.
Mrs. Fox enjoyed gardening.

GODLEY -- Lorraine Elice Nathanson, 76, of Godley, died Thursday (Aug. 14, 2003) at her home.
Private services will be held. Rev. Steve Bondi will officiate.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner cemetery in Braceville.
Arrangements are by R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel.
Mrs. Nathanson was born Feb. 26, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Clarence and Elice Alice Chyska Veague.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Edward Nathanson of Godley; two sons, Paul and Steve Nathanson, both of Godley; one daughter, Joanne Viol of Godley; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
One daughter, Alice M. Nathanson, died in 1988.
Mrs. Nathanson was retired from Moreys Coils Inc. in Downers Grove, after 10 years of service.
She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Romeoville, and enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS -- Jennie Stanfa, 91, a lifetime resident of Chicago Heights, and mother of a Kankakee resident, died Thursday (Aug. 14, 2003).
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today at Hirsch Funeral Homes, West End Chapel, 1340 Otto Blvd., Chicago Heights.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Church, 1515 Chicago Rd., Chicago Heights.
Interment will be in Assumption cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Misericordia Home, 6300 North Ridge, Chicago, 60660 or St. Agnes School Building Fund.
Mrs. Stanfa was twice voted Mother of the Year at St. Agnes Church, where she was a member and past president of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was past president of Marian High School Mother's Club.
She volunteered over 40 years at St. James Hospital, was past president of Bloom Township Democratic Women's Organization.
In the year 2000 a Chicago Heights Street was named the Jennie Stanfa Way in honor of her.
Surviving are her children, Joseph and Janet Stanfa, Nick Stanfa, Patricia and Ronald Denton, Rita and David Rohn, Jennie Stanfa, all of Chicago Heights, Peter and Sharlene Stanfa of Bolingbrook, Michael and Kathleen Stanfa of Kankakee, Thomas and Anne Stanfa of Geneva, Gloria and Alfred Bitz of Steger, Mary and Wayne Morton of Gilbert, Ariz.; sisters, Jolyn and Gene Swedo of Mt. Prospect, Phyllis Geraci of Wisconsin, Joseph and Virginia Pagoria of Chicago Heights; 31 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Her parents, Peter and Margaret Bova Pagoria; and her husband, Nick Stanfa (1969), are deceased.

PONTIAC -- Marie Louise Witthoft, 91, of Pontiac, died Thursday (Aug. 14, 2003) at Livingston Manor in Pontiac.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pontiac Bible Church. Rev. Brian Bill will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Pontiac Bible Church, where she was a member, or Pontiac Christian School.
Mrs. Witthoft was born April 15, 1912 in Beaverville, the daughter of Edward and Rose Arseneau Varboncoeur.
Her husband, Howard Kerr, whom she married
July 19, 1941 in St. Anne, died Jan. 30, 1973.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Charles Lucas of Pontiac, Barbara and David Elliott of Watseka; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Two sisters and three brothers are deceased.
Victor Avon
SOUTH WILMINGTON -- Victor J. "Blacky" Avon, 92, of South Wilmington, died Sunday (Oct. 12, 2003) with his family by his side. He retired from the Village of New Lenox Public Works Department. The Victor Avon Public Works Building in New Lenox is named in his honor. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Deacon Joe Riggi will officiate. Burial will be in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery in Braceville. Pallbearers will be Randy Cramer, Brian Hammann, Scott Lee, Chad Michael Cramer and Ryan and Shane Maxard. He was born Sept. 3, 1911, in South Wilmington, the son of Michael and Elizabeth Avon. He married
the former Bessie Baade in 1933. They made their home in New Lenox and returned to South Wilmington after retiring. Together they traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and to the top of the world at Point Barrow, Alaska. Mr. Avon worked in the coal mine as a young man and also for the Will County Farm Bureau Service in Joliet. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 110 in Kingston, Tenn. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Betha and Randy Cramer of South Wilmington; cherished grandchildren, Dr. Buffy (Brian) Cramer-Hammann, Christy (Scott) Cramer-Lee, both of Elgin, Chad Michael Cramer of South Wilmington; great-granddaughters, Gabrielle Elizabeth Lee and Gillian Victoria Lee; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Donna Avon of Tennessee and family, Jennifer Avon Jamison, Victoria Marie Avon, John Conway, Chrissy Conway and Reno, Diamond and Liberty Jamison. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and his caregiver, Jackie Erickson of Essex. Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, three brothers and two sisters. A granddaughter, Sarah E. Avon is missing. Victor lived life to the fullest and leaves behind many drinking buddies, dancing partners and good-time friends.

PIPER CITY -- Virgil D. Berghouse, 80, of Enumclaw, Wash., formerly of Piper City, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 2003). Cremation rites were accorded. GOOSE LAKE -- Helen M. Berkeci, 81, of Goose Lake, died Wednesday (Oct. 8, 2003) from cancer. Services were held Oct. 11 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home in Joliet. Rev. William Maesen officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Joliet. Memorials may be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice. Mrs. Berkeci was formerly employed at Gerlach-Barklow and F.W. Sickles in Joliet. She was born in Joliet, the daughter of Walter and Emma Soland. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Theodore F. Berkeci of Goose Lake; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy and Michael Daniels of Wilmington, Norma Jean and Jim Hensley of Rockdale, Cindy Galor of Lisle; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Elaine Bice of Plainfield; one sister, Josephine Archambeau of Joliet; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. One son in infancy; three sisters, Irene, Betty and Caroline Soland; three brothers, Ray, Hank and Walter Soland Jr.; and one grandson, Richard Meyers, are deceased.

WATSEKA -- Dean R. Bleich, 53, of Watseka, died Monday (Oct. 13, 2003) at his home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Dean Bottjen and Vicar Martin Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Watseka. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Watseka or to the American Diabetes Association. Mr. Bleich was a caseworker for the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Kankakee. He was born June 17, 1950, in Paxton, the son of Lawson E. and Marian L. Reynolds Bleich. His father is deceased. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Marian and Paul Cluver of Watseka; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Dean Storm of Ashkum, Beth and Michael Warren of Watseka; one niece, Catherine Crouch of Watseka; and one nephew, Benjamin Warren of Watseka. Mr. Bleich was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Vietnam War.

She was born April 20, 1922, in Arrowsmith, the daughter of Ernest Dexter and Bonnie Mae Williams Hale. Her first husband, Wayne Bernell Jensen, is deceased. She then married
Lester C. Rasmussen Nov. 27, 1982 in Bourbonnais. He is also deceased. Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Teddie and Catherine Jensen of Piper City, Roy Jensen of Kankakee; one daughter, Phyllis Jensen and her husband, Ray Cerimeli of Chandler, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One daughter, Nora Jane LaReau; three brothers, Ernie, Paul and Howard; and three sisters, Imogene Rice and two infant twins, are deceased. Ms. Lambert-Jones was the owner of Yesteryear and More Antique Shop in Kentland, Ind., and a former veterinarian assistant at the Kentland Veterinary Clinic and Watseka Animal Hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1949, in Watseka, the daughter of Ronald L. and Glenna L. Glasscock Lambert. Her father is deceased. Surviving are her mother of Sheldon; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Dixie L. and Roger Beheymer of Cordova, Alaska, Teresa L. and Jim Wood of Brook, Ind., Cindy L. and William Hemm of Crescent City, Calif., Roberta L.
