A funeral Mass for Ruth M. Monik, 65, of Bradley, was celebrated Oct. 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Rev. John Antczak officiated. Mrs. Monik died Oct. 11, 2003. Burial was in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Ron Whitman, Mark, Brian, Lyle and and Waylan Griffin.

WATSEKA -- Services for Ronald L. Brady Jr., 34, of Bloomington, were held Oct. 14 at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Joe Hughes officiated. Mr. Brady died Oct. 10, 2003. Burial was in the Sheldon cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Conrad, Kevin Lambert, Ryan Tobeck, Stan Patterson and Travis and Rusty Keath.

MATTESON -- Ina R. Schifler Bartling of Matteson, the mother of a Manteno resident, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 2003). Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Hirsch Lincolnway Chapel, 3501 W. Lincoln Highway, Matteson, and from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. service at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4800 Sauk Trail, Richton Park, where she was a member. Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park in Monee. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Organ Fund. Surviving are her husband, Marvin Bartling; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Daniel Mayer of Park Forest; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Janine Bartling of Manteno, Dean and Diana Bartling of New Lenox, Gary and Lynda Bartling of Frankfort; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Neva and Calvert Heath, Jean and Lester Erdmann, Carol Schifler, Glenda and Wayne Bode, Joyce Bauer; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ramon Schifler and Carl and JoAnne Schifler; and 14 grandchildren. Her parents, Glenn and Myrtle Schifler; and one sister, Doris Erdmann, are deceased. Mrs. Bartling was chairman of the Ladies Aid Society. She loved gardening, sewing and traveling. She enjoyed many summers in Minnesota.

GEFF -- Edward S. Berg, 71, of Geff, and the father of a Bourbonnais resident, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 2003). At his request, there will be no visitation or services. Hosselton Funeral Home, Cisne, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Berg was a printer for General Motors for 30 years. He was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Mt. Erie, the son of Hubert and Vera Berg. March 30, 1988, in Vincennes, Ind., of Geff; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Finis Wright of Eupora, Miss., Debra and Ken Teatgue of Austin, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Pam Berg of Bourbonnais; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sisters are deceased. Mr. Berg was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Amvets and the NMN Club of Flora. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, having fun and socializing.

WATSEKA -- Visitation for Deborah Faye Daniels, 56, of Richmond, Calif., formerly of Watseka, will be from noon Sunday until the 2 p.m. services at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Tom Novy will officiate. Graveside services will be held in the GAR cemetery, Watseka. She died Wednesday (Oct. 8, 2003) at her home. Ms. Daniels had her doctorate degree of chiropractic. She was born Feb. 28, 1947 in Watseka. Surviving are her parents, Cecil O. and Lucille G. Dekle Daniels of Watseka; four sisters, Priscilla Jane Blind of Chillicothe, Belinda Susan Daniels of Anchorage, Alaska, Dinah Lynn Daniels of Archer, Fla., Deanna Denise Rodts of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Benjamin Paul Daniels of Champaign, Jonathan Paul Daniels of Rantoul; six nieces and five nephews; and six great-nieces and four great-nephews. One sister, Sheilah Anne Sorendon, is deceased. Ms. Daniels served as a captain in the Air Force Reserves until May 1995. She was on the racing board of the Berkley Yacht Club and enjoyed sailing and quilting.

ONARGA -- Services for Pedro Ochoa, 46, of Onarga, were held Oct. 8 at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Joseph Estrada officiated. Mr. Ochoa died Oct. 4, 2003. Burial was in the Onarga cemetery. Pallbearers were Jesse Carmona, Rene Gayton, Ezequiel, Jose Louis, Juan and Ramon Ochoa.

MILFORD -- Services for Robert E. Collins, 49, of Milford, were held Oct. 9 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Revs. Tom McCann and Robert Killion officiated. Mr. Collins died Oct. 6, 2003. Burial was in Sugar Creek cemetery, Stockland. Pallbearers were Bill and Mark Collins, Amy Jo and Marc Johnson, Bill Schunke and Tony Stebbins.

Lee Gift, 79, of Kankakee, died today (Oct. 10, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital. Visitation will be Sunday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

CRESCENT CITY -- George Thomas Kotsiopoulos, 74, of Crescent City, died Tuesday (Oct. 7, 2003) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the Drake and Sons Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Enunciation Church, 1017 N. LaSalle, Chicago. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery, Chicago. Memorials may be made to St. John's College in New Mexico. Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka is in charge of arrangements. He was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Thomas George and Ann Diakikis Kotsiopoulos. Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tom and Carol Kotsiopoulos of Prospect Heights, Christan Anthony Kotsiopoulos of Watseka; and one brother, Pantelis Kotsiopoulos of Chicago. One sister is deceased. Mr. Kotsiopoulos was a member of the North American Falconer's Association.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park, and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. services at Apostolic Christian Church, Cissna Park, where she was a member. Ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian cemetery, Cissna Park. Memorials may be made to the Acadia Unit of Heartland Health Care Center, Paxton. She was born Aug. 21, 1916, in Cissna Park, the daughter of Edward and Anna Hitz Kaufmann. Her husband, Benjamin J. Laubscher, whom she married
June 2, 1935, in Cissna Park, died March 7, 1986. Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald Laubscher of Anderson, Calif., Edward Laubscher of Sheldon, Walter and Sylvia Laubscher, Wayne and Gloria Laubscher, all of Cissna Park; one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Gary Rudin of Buckley; three sisters, Lucile Stoller of Gridley, Lorene Kaufmann of Cissna Park, Arcelia Bauer of Hoopeston; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One brother, Walter; and one great-grandchild, are deceased.

BUCKLEY -- Betty M. Lustfeldt, 78, of rural Buckley, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 2003) at Heartland Healthcare in Paxton after a three-month illness. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's cemetery in Buckley. Rev. Mark J. Haller will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Buckley Fire Department, Buckley EMS, St. John's Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Ford-Baier Funeral Home in Buckley is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lustfeldt was a teller at the First National Bank of Gilman and had farmed with her husband for many years. She was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Ridgeville, the daughter of Earl and Marie Lang Cox. April 14, 1956, in Onarga, died Nov. 28, 1993. Surviving are one son, Gordon A. Lustfeldt of Buckley; one daughter, Marlene M. Lustfeldt of Buckley; two sisters, Lucille O'Neil of Gilman, Mary Ginter of Elkhart, Ill.; and two brothers, William Cox of Winona, Mo. and Gene Cox of Gilman. One brother, Delmar Cox, is deceased. She was a 1943 graduate of Onarga High School. Mrs. Lustfeldt was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Buckley and the Roberts Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening.

Daylin Spears, infant son of Antoinette Nocentelli and David Spears Sr. of Kankakee, died Tuesday (Oct. 8, 2003) at The University of Chicago Hospitals, two days after his birth. Services are tentatively set for Monday. Arrangements are pending at Lax Mortuary.
Ronald Stanley

Ronald E. Stanley, 65, of LaFayette, Ga., formerly of Kankakee, died Wednesday (Oct. 8, 2003) at his home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Rev. Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. Mr. Stanley was born June 11, 1938, in Kankakee, the son of Raymond and Mary Imogene Massey Stanley. His parents are deceased. He was a 1956 graduate of Kankakee High School. He worked for Kankakee Roper until 1982. While at Roper's, Ron and his wife lived in Martinton for a number of years raising horses and enjoyed and participated in many trail rides throughout Illinois and Indiana. He was transferred to LaFayette, Ga., by Roper's until his retirement/disability in 1990. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, the former Doreen Cochand of Bradley, now of LaFayette, Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Wes Shadowen, Darla Sue and Wes "Buck" Green, all of Kankakee; and many nieces and nephews. Ron enjoyed taking walks, working in his yard and cooking. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Chicago Bears. We love him and will miss him deeply.

MILFORD -- Marie L. Stowe, 93, of Danville, formerly of Milford, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 2003) at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Danville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Monday until the 2 p.m. services at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Rev. Patricia Allin will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Milford. She was born April 30, 1910, in Fairmount, the daughter of James and Nellie Reeder O'Laughlin. Her husband, Silas Stowe, whom she married
July 14, 1928, in Joliet, died in 1981. Surviving are one daughter, Jeanette Stowe of Oakwood; one grandson, Kenneth Stowe Jr. of Midlothian; three great-grandchildren; and one brother. Two brothers, three sisters and one son are deceased.
