Charles 'Chuck' Beck
PEOTONE -- Chuck's courageous battle with lymphoma ended on Oct. 5, 2003, when he went home to be with his precious Lord and Savior. Chuck was born Feb. 22, 1941, in Homewood. He resided in Peotone, with his wife, Joy Lynn and children most of his adult life until her passing in 1987. In 1989 he married
wife Kaye and remained in Peotone until November of 1996. He and Kaye then moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, after he retired from teaching junior high students math and science for 30 years. He loved working with children, which continued after his move to Bonners Ferry. Chuck was instrumental in starting the first elementary mentoring program for Boundary County schools and loved working with all of the volunteer mentors, children and teachers. Chuck loved to be with people and frequently shared his sense of humor, kindness and friendship with everyone he met. His passion for Jesus was apparent to all who knew him. This past year he enjoyed and cherished his opportunity to be the facilitator of the building project for Bonners Ferry Church of the Nazarene. The miracles that he shared as the Lord built the church left a tremendous witness of the power of an almighty God which Chuck absolutely cherished. Chuck is survived by his wife Kaye of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; daughter Sherri of St. Louis, Mo.; son Kevin and his wife, Amy, granddaughters, Haylee and Jaclyn of Manteno; son Brian and his wife Nancy, grandsons Tom and Matt of Plainfield; brother Rich and his wife Sherry of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Evelyn Beck, sister Deanna and his first wife, Joy Lynn. His loss leaves a tremendous void in the lives of all who loved him and a legacy of a man totally devoted to the Lord. A memorial service was held at the Bonners Ferry Church of the Nazarene and will also be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 11 at the Manteno Church of the Nazarene. Memorials may be made to Bonners Ferry Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 1721, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805. Cremation rites were accorded. Burial will be in the Mazon cemetery. Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, is in charge of arrangements.

ST. ANNE -- Visitation for Michael A. Davis, 41, of St. Anne, will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home in St. Anne. There will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. He died Sunday (Oct. 5, 2003). Mr. Davis was the owner of Mike's Mobil Home Service. He was born July 25, 1962, in Kankakee, the son of Charles and Beverly Reed Davis. His father is deceased. Surviving are one son, Joshua Davis of St. Anne; his mother of St. Anne; one sister and brother-in-law, Roxanne and Steve Pierce of Millport, Ala.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Tina Bowers of Beaverville, Bret and Linda Bowers, James and Dawn Davis, Jeffery and Jennifer Davis, all of St. Anne; and special friend, Doreen Cortes of St. Anne. One sister, Brenda Bowers, is deceased.
Ceona Driggs
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Ceona Driggs, 96, of St. Paul, Minn., formerly of Kankakee, died Saturday (Oct. 4, 2003) at her home. Cremation rites have been accorded by the Cremation Society of Minnesota. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Agnes Catholic Church in St. Paul, Minn. Burial will be at Shell Lake, Wis. Mrs. Driggs was born Jan. 23, 1907 in Shell Lake, Wis. Her husband, Harry Driggs, died in 1951 in Kankakee. Surviving are a daughter, Marcia Peterson ; a son and daughter-in-law, Courtland and Jeanne Driggs; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her only sister, Nathalia Faribault; two nephews and one niece. Ceona resided in St. Paul, Minn. since 1976.

CULLOM -- Don C. Hughes, 71, of rural Cullom, died Sunday (Oct. 5, 2003) at his home following an extended illness. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Cullom, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Gretchen Stinebaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Sullivan Center cemetery, rural Cullom. Mr. Hughes was a truck driver and had been employed for many years by R. A. Bright Trucking in Naperville. He was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Albia, Monroe County, Iowa, the son of Zales Cletus and Lydia M. Burkhardt Hughes. Surviving are his wife, the former Lorraine I. Rich, whom he married
Feb. 23, 1952, in Hinsdale; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and LeRoy Owens of Saunemin, Debra and Michael Churchill, Sr. of Lockport; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald and Harriet Hughes of rural Forrest, Bob and Elizabeth Hughes of Crest Hill, Carl Hughes of rural Cullom; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick and Rose Hughes, Jim and Mary Ann Hughes, all of Downers Grove; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marge Gamble of Georgia, June and Irv Pazan of Texas and Phyllis and Halley Day of Tennessee. Two brothers, Cletus Jr. and Bill Hughes; and one grandchild, are deceased. He was educated in Downers Grove, Ill. schools. Mr. Hughes served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Japan.
Katharina Kosorich
MANTENO -- Visitation for Katharina Kosorich, 87, formerly of Manteno, will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the noon service at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Manteno. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery in Manteno. Ms. Kosorich died Sunday (Oct. 5, 2003) at her son's home in Park Forest. She was born Sept. 11, 1916 in Cloppenburg, Germany. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Helge and Kathy Kosorich of Park Forest; six grandchildren, Dennis, Thomas, James, Sheldon, Michelle and Kelly; and 10 great-grandchildren. Eight brothers and sisters; and one son, Horst Neumann, are deceased. Ms. Kosorich was retired from Butler Furniture Mfg. in Chicago. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manteno. She enjoyed knitting and cooking.

GILMAN -- Services for Frances L. "Fran" Bohl, 75, of Gilman, were held Oct. 6 at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman. Rev. Connie Williams Moodie officiated. Mrs. Bohl died Oct. 2, 2003. Burial was in the Gilman cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave, Dennis and Don Cook, Rod Copas, Bill Price and Jeff Rinkenberger. Honorary pallbearers were Pat Short, Sharon Strohschein and LaVerne Ritzma.

PAXTON -- Donald C. Wells, 89, of Paxton, formerly of Loda, died Monday (Oct. 6, 2003) at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Thursday until the 2 p.m. services at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home in Paxton. Rev. John Hauck will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Ridge cemetery in Loda. Surviving are four daughters, Donna Kuester and Peggy Rascher, both of Buckley, Crystal Crum of Paxton, Jackie Reppelius of Rolla, N.D.; two sons, Edward Wells of Onarga, Donald J. Wells of Paxton; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

FAIRBURY -- Margaret E. Gosteli, 85, of Fairbury, died Saturday (Oct. 4, 2003) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac. July 5, 1938 in Frankfort, Ind., died Aug. 21, 1999. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Phyllis Gosteli of Pontiac, Ronald and Joanne Gosteli of Dwight, Brent and Carol Gosteli of Flanagan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and William Sullens of Chatsworth, Lori and Marvin Turner of Pontiac; five sisters, Mary Ridgeway of Cerro Gordo, Barbara Irvin of Hillsboro, Ind., Virginia Trenary of Kansas City, Mo., Betty Boyd and Shirley Skinner, both of Gibson City; two brothers, Robert Hehman of Green Valley, Ariz., Ed Hehman of Champaign; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Two brothers, and an infant brother, are deceased. Mrs. Gosteli was a quilter for many years.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Rev. Jerry Watkins will officiate. Burial will take place at the Grand Prairie United Methodist Church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Herscher High School Student Council or for his children's education. Dean was born Aug. 2, 1949 in Kankakee, the son of Arlo and Rosella Gross-Grob. Surviving are his wife, the former Paula Elliott of Herscher; two sons, Jacob of Champaign and Garrett at home; one daughter, Kenzie at home; his mother of Danforth; one brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Brenda Grob; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Cheryl Elliott, Kevin and Carol Elliott, Ron and Michele Crawford; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wendall and Jean Elliott; and nieces and nephews, Chad and Sarah Grob, Nicole Grob, Brad, Brian, Devon and Alaina Elliott, and Clayton and Tyler Crawford. He is preceded in death by his father, Arlo. Dean was surrounded by a loving, caring group of family and friends during his illness. From this love we will continue on in his memory. No one will ever find a more loving and loyal husband, father or Cubs fan.

July 27, 1940 in Cissna Park, died July 12, 1979. Surviving are two nephews, Webb and Wanda Ilse of Loda, Alain and Lena Isely of Plantation, Fla.; and a niece, Gloria and Marvin Anderson of Ft. Myers, Fla. One sister, Alice Isely; and a brother, Wilbur Ilse, are deceased. Mrs. Klann assisted her husband in farming, and had been employed as a housekeeper at several nursing homes in the area.
