BRAIDWOOD -- Susan Laura Ware, 54, of Framingham, Mass., formerly of Braidwood, died suddenly Sept. 22, 2003 while vacationing in Kissimmee, Fla. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. memorial service at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel. Rev. Coleman Coates will officiate. Memorials may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood. She was born March 27, 1949 in Joliet. Surviving are her husband of almost two years, William Ware; her mother, Ruth Witham Bauter of Braidwood; one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Sandy Bauter of Braidwood; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Charles Frisch of Alliance, Neb.; and nieces and nephews. Her father, Donald A. Bauter, is deceased. She was a 1967 graduate of Reed Custer High School and received a degree in mathematics from Illinois State University. Mrs. Ware was a member of the Mensa and Wisdom organizations in Massachusetts. She enjoyed reading and photography.
Sister Esther Mathew
A funeral Mass for Sister Esther Mathew, 92, of Kankakee, was celebrated Sept. 30 at Provena St. Mary's Chapel. Rev. James Holup, Rev. Remm and Rev. Royer co-officiated. She died Sept. 26, 2003. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery in Beaverville.

HERSCHER -- A funeral Mass for George Robert "Bob" Gehrke, 68, of Herscher, was celebrated Sept. 30 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Rev. John Driscoll and Deacon Jim Dennison officiated. Mr. Gehrke died Sept. 26, 2003.
Erma Baker
Erma L. Baker, 91, of Kankakee, died Aug. 11, 2003 at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church in Bourbonnais, with visitation from 9-10 a.m. Rev. Richard L. Sagarsee will officiate. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens following the service. Arrangements are by the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church. Erma was born Dec. 4, 1911, in Humboldt, the daughter of Arthur and Clara Willard. She had worked about 10 years as a secretary for Malmer's Insurance. She was also a bookkeeper for her first husband's contracting business, Willard and Seborg. Erma married
her high school sweetheart Ralph H. Seborg on Oct. 31, 1931. Ralph died in 1957. She then married
Earl R. Baker March 29, 1969 and he died in 1984. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Sarah Seborg of Huntsville, Ala.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Edward Sovinski of Kankakee; three grandchildren, Kate Barrow, Liesl Seborg and Frank Sovinski; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Riley plus three stepsons and wives, Donald and Dorothy Baker of Naples, Fla., Clyde and Stephanie Baker of Pacific Palisades, Calif. and Frederick and Lorna Baker of Sun City West, Ariz. and their families. One brother, Shirley Willard, is deceased. Mrs. Baker belonged to Central Christian Church, Miriam Circle, Christian Women's Fellowship and the Kankakee Woman's Club. She enjoyed watching birds, reading and playing Scrabble.

MOROCCO, Ind. -- Lovella Castongia, 93, of Morocco, Ind. and the mother of area residents, died Tuesday (Sept. 30, 2003) at her home. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the Lang Funeral Home in Morocco, Ind. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beaverville, where she was a member. Rev. Bob Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Beaverville. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Hospital Home HealthCare and Hospice. Mrs. Castongia formerly worked as a beautician. Oct. 13, 1945, in Lafayette, Ind., died in 1994. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ezra and Veneda Castongia of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Armelia Kyrouac of Bourbonnais, Donola and Joe Gibbs of Kankakee; one daughter-in-law, Dianne Castongia of Morocco; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; one niece and four great-nieces and one great-nephew. One son, Roger Castongia; one daughter, Ramella Smart; two granddaughters, Donna Fitts and Wendy Castongia; three brothers, Roy, Ray and Willard; one sister, Fern; and two sons-in-law, Paul Smart and Paul Kyrouac, are deceased. Mrs. Castongia was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans and the Enos Bunco Club. She enjoyed painting and playing the organ.

Surviving are his parents, James F. and Rosanne Koehn Pfeiffer; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Marc Pfeiffer, Matthew and Jennifer Pfeiffer, Timothy Pfeiffer; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Pfeiffer; and aunts, uncles and cousins. His paternal grandfather, Harold Pfeiffer and maternal grandparents, Margaret and Harold Koehn, are deceased.

Lloyd James Richert, 93, of Kankakee, formerly of Chicago Heights, died Wednesday (Oct. 1, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Max and Carol Reams will officiate. Mr. Richert was a science teacher for 26 years at Bloom High School in Chicago Heights. He was born Dec. 2, 1909, in Mendota, the son of Simon James and Rose Caroline Feik Richert. June 25, 1944, in Macomb, of Kankakee; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Susan Richert of Richton Park, Larry and Judy Richert of Crete; one sister-in-law, Katheryn Curtis of Macomb; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Bernice Richert, are deceased. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights. Mr. Richert was a resident of Chicago Heights for 50 years and of Kankakee for the past five years. He built and enjoyed miniatures and donated much of his time to the library in Chicago Heights. He also volunteered at the Thorn Creek Nature Center in Will County.

Mrs. Senholtz had worked at a drapery factory. She was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Grant Park, the daughter of John and Minnie Crocker Greep. Her husband, Paul Senholtz, died in 1993.
