BEECHER -- Willard Batterman, 89, of Beecher, died Tuesday (July 30, 2002) at Anchorage of Beecher.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Hack Funeral home in Beecher, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Ronald Rock will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery in Beecher.
Mr. Batterman was a salesman for an Implement and Lumber Co.
He was born April 4, 1913 in Cedar Lake, Ind., the son of Edward and Emma Bernhard Batterman.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred Kiedaisch of Beecher.
One sister, Elvira Haseman, is deceased.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Beecher.
Eva Berndt
Eva C. Berndt, 72, of Bourbonnais, died today (July 31, 2002) at Palos Community Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
Judith Cruse

Judith A. Cruse, 63, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Bradley, died Sunday (July 28, 2002).
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Aroma Park cemetery.
Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Cruse was a retail sales clerk. She had worked for Kankakee Therapy.
She was born July 29, 1938, in West Frankfort, the daughter of Fred and Lillian Duncan Oller. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Gabriel Ponton, died in 1978.
Surviving are one son, Daniel Ponton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one daughter, Pamela Bertrand of Melbourne, Fla.; one brother, Jack Oller of Onarga; and five grandchildren.
One son, Earl Ponton, is deceased.
Ms. Cruse was a founding member of the Kankakee Apartment Association.
Johnnie Davidson
Johnnie D. Davidson, 62, of Kankakee, died Monday (July 29, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Services are tentatively set for Saturday at Jones Funeral Home.
Ruth Rabe
CRESCENT CITY -- Ruth Kathleen Rabe, 80, of Crescent City, and a resident of the Gilman Nursing Pavilion, died Sunday (July 28, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman.
She was born May 12, 1922, in Benton, the daughter of Burrell and Mary Fisher Ross.
Her husband, Elmer Rabe, is deceased.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Newton and Helen of California, David and Shannon of Idaho, Wayne and Margaret of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Ernie Curtis of Gilman; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Murriel Tucker of Jackson, Tenn.
One grandchild, Terri Jo Curtis, is deceased.
Mrs. Rabe was of the Mormon faith.
She enjoyed baking.
Phyllis Gruver
Services for Phyllis I. Gruver, 85, of Bourbonnais, were held July 30 at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Gruver died July 27, 2002.
Burial was in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Taylor, Ron Anderson, Al Spenard and Eugene Barwegan.
Constance Robinson
MANTENO -- Services for Constance Elizabeth Robinson, 77, of Lantana, Fla., formerly of Manteno, were held July 30 at the Brown Funeral Home, Manteno. Rev. Larry Moslener officiated.
Mrs. Robinson died July 26, 2002.
Burial was in Elmwood cemetery, Manteno. Pallbearers were K.C. Johnson, Harlan Helgeson, Ken Greene, Pat Martin, Tracy Greene and Linda Rawls.
Raymond Leonard
WATSEKA -- A funeral Mass for Raymond J. Leonard, 85, of Watseka, was celebrated July 30 at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka. Rev. Lee Ryan officiated.
Mr. Leonard died July 26, 2002.
Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery, Watseka. Pallbearers were Mike Rabideau, Tim and Todd Thiele, Rob Duis and Randy and Mark Kollmann. Honorary pallbearers were Don Leonard, Russell Patnaude, Marvin Kollmann, Horace Wauthier and Leonard LeSage.
Pearl Wolfe
WATSEKA -- Services for Pearl Wolfe, 78, of Watseka, were held July 30 at Calvary Lutheran Churcdh, Watseka. Rev. Dean Bottjen officiated.
Miss Wolfe died July 26, 2002.
Burial was in Flesher cemetery, Crescent City. Pallbearers were Wayne Carlson, Leonard Boudreau, Richard Wrede, Mark Henrichs, Kenneth Wrede and Louis Sunderlund.
Marjorie Condit
GILMAN -- Services for Marjorie L. Condit, 80, of Gilman, were held July 30 at United Methodist Church in Gilman. Rev. Gary L. Fairchild officiated.
Mrs. Condit died July 26, 2002.
Burial was in Gilman cemetery. Pallbearers were Stuart Henrichs, Ryan Johnson, Greg Urban, Troy Urban, Steve Hoffman and Lloyd Ulitzsch.
William Wilken
DANFORTH -- Services for William F. "Bill" Wilken, 90, of Danforth were held July 29 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Danforth. Rev. James Gerth officiated.
Mr. Wilken died July 25, 2002.
Burial was in Danforth cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger, Louis and Lynn Wilken, Marvin Peters, George H. Tammen and Carl Sparenberg.

Ione Anderson
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Ione Frazier Anderson, 82, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Kankakee, died Monday (July 22, 2002).
Cremation rites have been accorded.
She was born Sept. 30, 1919 in Kankakee.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Frank Anderson; two sons, Dennis Anderson of Santa Cruz, Gary Anderson of West Sacramento; one brother, Rube; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
One sister, Betty; and five brothers, Earl, Laverne, Murray, Roy and Clifford, are deceased.
Mrs. Anderson and her husband traveled to California in 1948. After moving around they settled in the Sacramento, Calif. area.
Dorris McMurtry

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. -- Dorris M. McMurtry, 64, of Casa Grande, Ariz., formerly of Manteno, died Thursday (July 25, 2002) in Flagstaff, Ariz., after a sudden illness.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Joliet, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Wesley cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Arthritis Foundation or the Illinois 4-H Foundation would be appreciated.
Mrs. McMurtry worked as a nurse at Sandwich Hospital, Manteno State Hospital and Arizona State Hospital.
She was born in Sparta, the daughter of Henry and Caroline Rabe Nehrt. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her loving husband of 42 years, William McMurtry of Casa Grande, Ariz.; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa McMurtry of Channahon; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Stellwagen of Mokena; five grandchildren, Jacob, Brent, Morgan, Katie and Gretchen; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Darlyn Nehrt of Sparta; and nieces and nephews.
One granddaughter, Elizabeth McMurtry, is deceased.
Mrs. McMurtry received her nursing degree from the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
