CABERY -- Cody Scott Ryman, 13, of Cabery, died Friday (Sept. 27, 2003) at Morris Hospital, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Steve Bondi will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery, Braidwood. Cody was born Aug. 19, 1990 in Joliet, the son of Jeffrey and Theresa Urban Ryman. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Theresa and J.D. Foster of Cabery; father and stepmother, Jeffrey and Jacqueline Ryman of Braidwood; one sister, Jena Foster of Byron; two brothers, J.T. and Pete Hinich of Braidwood; his grandparents, Kathy Machalski of Seneca, Rich and Diane Urban of Tylertown, Miss., Phil and Dee Klein of Godley, Bud and Bobbie Foster of Hot Springs, Ark., and Karen Bunting of Braidwood; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Cody was an eighth-grade student at Tri-Point Jr. High School in Piper City. He enjoyed playing football, listening to music, building bicycles and riding motorcycles.

HERSCHER -- Clarence E. Siedentop, 96, of Herscher, died Friday (Sept. 26, 2003) at his home. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and will lie in state from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Herscher, where he was a lifelong member. Rev. Mark Wenzel will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity cemetery in Herscher. Memorials may be made to Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth or Hospice of Kankakee Valley. Aug. 28, 1937 in Homewood, died April 23, 2001. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald E. and Sue Siedentop of Kankakee, Dale E. and Bonnie Siedentop, Duane and Colleen Siedentop, all of Herscher; one sister, Evelyn Carter of Kankakee; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Siedentop of Herscher; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. One brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Gertrude Siedentop; one brother, Leonard Siedentop; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Cartier, are deceased. Mr. Siedentop worked for the International Harvester dealer in Herscher for many years. He collected model farm equipment.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington, and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the 10 a.m. service. Rev. David Lagos-Fonseca and Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes will co-officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Wilmington. Memorials may be made in her name to First United Methodist Church of Wilmington. Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 6, 1921 in Quitman, Ark., the daughter of Arthur and Bessie Wood-Ryan. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Bernard "Buster" Smith, whom she married
June 21, 1939 in North Little Rock, Ark., of Wilmington; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Fred Smith of Wilmington, David and Nena Smith of Houston, Texas; a granddaughter, Anna Smith of Hollywood, Fla.; one grandson, Tyler Smith of Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Ryan of Arkansas; two sisters, Clema Sherman of Oregon, Rubye Fairbend of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. One son, Doug (1964); and a sister, Geneva Stull, are deceased. Mrs. Smith was a resident of Wilmington since 1946. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington.

GRANT PARK -- Services for Minnie B. Schroeder, 94, of Grant Park, were held Sept. 26 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Grant Park. Rev. Beverly A. Zell officiated. Mr. Baptist was a retired employee from the former Kankakee Foundry and Kroehler. He was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Crawford, Miss., the eldest and last surviving child of John and Eliza Baptist. Surviving are his first wife, Annie Baptist of Macon, Miss.; his second wife, Lillie Baptist of Kankakee; seven sons and three daughters-in-law, Freddie Baptist Jr., Joseph and Mary Baptist, Edward Baptist, Victor Sr. and Janie Baptist and Danny Baptist, all of Kankakee; Pete and Linda Baptist of Kenosha, Wis., John Baptist of Marietta, Ga.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Freddie Mae Powell, Viola and Andrew Brack, all of Kankakee, Willa Mae and Roy Fields of Erie, Pa., Pearlie Mae Baptist of Chicago; one stepson, Anthony Baptist of Minneapolis, Minn.; one stepdaughter, Ruby Ann Roach of Chicago; 23 grandchilden and nine great-grandchildren; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives. One sister, Georgia; and four brothers, Sam, John, Tom and Humphrey, are deceased. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and being around friends.

He was born May 9, 2003 in Davenport, Iowa. Surviving are his mother, Mendy Douglas of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Kankakee; two sisters, Toree Douglas and Whitney Burrage, both living at home in Davenport, Iowa; grandparents, Larry and Millie Douglas Tisor of South Bend, Ind.; two uncles, Clifford Tisor and Nathaniel Tisor, both of South Bend; one aunt, Gwen Douglas of South Bend; and great-grandmother, Gail Skinner of South Bend.

She died Sunday (Sept. 21, 2003) at the University of Illinois-Chicago Hospital. Ms. Neal had been a licensed practical nurse at several facilities including, Riverside Medical Center, Provena St. Mary's Hospital and Kankakee Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Feb. 12, 1955, in Pineville, La., the daughter of Shirland Small and Gussie Holloway. Her mother is deceased. Surviving are two sons, Justin Stokes and Terrence Lee, both of Kankakee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Latika and Lavell Robinson of Kankakee, Venis Neal and Allen Thomas of Kankakee; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Ida Holloway-Byrd and McKinely Byrd of Fort Hutchuka, Ariz., Carolyn Holloway of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Annie Penrice of Houston, Texas, Ernestine Holloway of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Barbara Thomas Hayes of Sierra Vista, Ga.; one brother, Ernest Holloway of Sierra Vista, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren. Her grandmother, Dennie Sudds; and one brother, Charlie Holloway, are deceased. Ms. Neal served in the U.S. Army and National Guard and was a volunteer for KC-CASA. She was a member of the NAACP, a local book club and the Zaire Unlimited Theater Club.

Donahue of Post Falls, Idaho and Thomas J. and Laura Donahue of Chandler, Ariz. Mrs. Donahue was active in the Kankakee County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed line dancing.
