James Taylor

MANTENO -- James W. Taylor, 67, of Manteno, formerly of Peotone, died Wednesday (Aug. 27, 2003) at the Momence Meadows Nursing Center. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Saturday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, where services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. William Riegle will officiate. Burial will be in the Peotone cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fredrick and Duane Taylor, Franklin Lohrbach, Jake Manroe and John Erler. Honorary pallbearer will be Terry Taylor. Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone, where he was a member. He was born July 9, 1936, in Gary, Ind., the son of Thomas and Birtie Z. Taylor. His parents are deceased. Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred Lohrbach, whom he married Jan. 21, 1955, by Rev. Ewald Plassman at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Peotone; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Fredrick and Barbara Taylor of Indianapolis, Ind., Terry Taylor and his fiancee, Penny Richards of Manteno, Duane and Karen Taylor of Gary, Ind.; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Taylor of Peotone; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mavis Bassinger of Rural Retreat, Va. One son, James Dean Taylor, died in 1999. He sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School Adult Class and Bible study groups. Mr. Taylor was a Webelos leader, Cub master and Boy Scout master of Unit 315. He helped form the Peotone Prairie Cardinals Camping Club and "The Way Off Broadway Players." Mr. Taylor and his wife also founded "Way Off Broadway Players Children Theater" and co-produced plays. He volunteered 5,000 hours at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest. He enjoyed camping, Bible study, Theater groups, children and building airplanes from Balsa wood.

Marvin Gereaux

A funeral Mass for Marvin J. Gereaux, 71, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated Aug. 27 at Maternity BVM Catholic Church. Mr. Gereaux died Aug. 23, 2003. Burial, with military rites by the Kankakee American Legion Post 85, was in Maternity BVM cemetery, Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Donald, Tracey and Renee Overacker, Mark Meents and Tim and Joel Gereaux.

Lorene Anderson

CLIFTON -- Services for Lorene "Eloise" Anderson, 86, of Clifton, were held Aug. 27 at the United Church of Chebanse. Rev. Richard Sova officiated. Mrs. Anderson died Aug. 24, 2003. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Chebanse. Pallbearers were Jim Carpenter, David, Kevin and Randy Elliot, Brent Byarley and Tom O'Brien. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Faulkner, Larry and Chuck Elliot and Alan Miller.

Rigoberto Salgado

A funeral Mass for Rigoberto "Rigo" Salgado Jr., 16, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated Aug. 27 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. Revs. Gregor Gorsic and Charles Wheeler co-officiated. Rigoberto died Aug. 22, 2003. Burial was in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Rogolio and Noel Diaz, Armando and Emanuel Boliva, Rogolio, Arturo and Alezandro Salgado and Noel Diaz.

Cecelia Alexander

WATSEKA -- Cecelia Alexander, 95, of Watseka, died today (Aug. 29, 2003) at Watseka Health Care Center. Arrangements are pending at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.

Leona Butterfield

MOMENCE -- Leona C. Butterfield, 86, of Momence, died Thursday (Aug. 28, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Cotter Funeral Home in Momence. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence. Revs. Vern Arseneau and Donald Kocher will co-officiate. Interment will be in St. Patrick Catholic cemetery in Momence. Memorials may be made to the family wishes or Kankakee County Animal Foundation. Mrs. Butterfield was born July 10, 1917 in Chicago, the daughter of George and Ellen O'Connell Charbonneau. Her husband, Hugh W. Butterfield, whom she married Aug. 25, 1945 in Alamogordo, N.M., died Dec. 31, 1992. Surviving are one daughter, Sue E. Butterfield of Momence; one sister-in-law, Clara Butterfield of Momence; and several nieces and nephews. One son, Eric Butterfield, is deceased. Mrs. Butterfield was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women and the Momence Women's Club. She and her husband, Hugh, operated the Hoosegow Gift Shop for over 18 years in Momence. She enjoyed cooking, working crossword puzzles and reading.

Burl Ernst

MANTENO -- Burl Donna Ernst, 84, of Manteno, died Thursday (Aug. 28, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. According to her wishes, Mrs. Ernst's body was donated for medical research. Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Ernst was a registered gemologist. She was born Nov. 24, 1918, in Danville, the daughter of Amos and Vesta Berk Wallace. Surviving are one son, Richard (Kathleen) Ernst of Manteno; one daughter, Donna (Jim Harris) Ernst of Prescott, Ariz.; four grandchidlren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. One grandson, Daniel, died in September 2000.

Rigoberto Salgado

A funeral Mass for Rigoberto "Rigo" Salgado Jr., 16, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated Aug. 27 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. Revs. Gregor Gorsic and Charles Wheeler co-officiated. Rigoberto died Aug. 22, 2003. Burial was in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Rogolio and Noel Diaz, Armando and Emanuel Boliva, Rogolio, Arturo and Alezandro Salgado and Noel Diaz.

Guymond Raymond

ST. GEORGE -- A funeral Mass for Guymond A. Raymond, 63, of St. George. was celebrated Aug. 27 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. Mr. Raymond died Aug. 23, 2003. Burial was in the St. George cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray St. Aubin, James, Casey, Matt, Jeff and Merle Raymond and Lee and Arnold Guimond.

Roy Stone

A funeral Mass for Roy S. Stone, 86, of Kankakee, was celebrated Aug. 28 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rev. Richard Pighini officiated. Mr. Stone died Aug. 25, 2003. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny Carpenter, Dennis Richard, Randy O'Connor, Eric Rahn, Guy Cunningham and Mike Gift.
Marcella Mote

A funeral Mass for Marcella V. Mote, 78, of Kankakee, was celebrated Aug. 28 at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Rev. Gregor Gorsic officiated. Mrs. Mote died Aug. 23, 2003. Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery, Aroma Township. Pallbearers were Joe Collette, Dwight O'Neal, Robert Wetzel, Justin Minzghor, Jim Kranich, Luke Daw and Melvin Arseneau. Ruby Ackley Private services for Ruby M. Ackley, 83, of Bradley, were held at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Mrs. Ackley died Aug. 24, 2003. Burial was in Bonfield cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Turner, David and Tim Anderson, and Don Cox.

David Lambert

SHERMAN -- David Lee Lambert, 58, of Sherman, formerly of Springfield and Bourbonnais, died Thursday (Aug. 28, 2003) at his home. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. Sixth St. in Springfield, with a 5 p.m. prayer service. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sherman. Rev. Eugene E. Costa will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mental Health Centers of Illinois, 710 N. Eighth St., Springfield, Ill. 62702, or St. John's Hospital, Hospice Program, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, Ill. 62702. Mr. Lambert was born Sept. 5, 1944 in Bourbonnais, the son of Adamar and Melina Lambert. His parents are deceased. Surviving are his wife, the former Maureen Fallon, whom he married Feb. 19, 1972 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield, of Sherman; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Shaun Patrick and Lindsay Lambert, Andrew David and Theresa Lambert, Phillip Lee Lambert, all of Springfield; one granddaughter; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Robert Lambert of Plainsville, Ron and Grace Lambert of Chapin, S.C., Rodger and Ginger Lambert of Sugar Grove, Bryan and Joanne Lambert of Bourbonnais; and several nieces and nephews. One sister, Theresa Haack, is deceased. Mr. Lambert was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School. He attended Western Illinois University and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army, receiving the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal with "V" Devise. He served as a Healthcare Administrator for over 20 years and most recently was an Analyst at CMS Bureau of Benefits. He was a former member of Springfield Jaycees, American Business Club in Springfield, Knights of Columbus 364, Sacred Heart Griffin Booster Club and a member of the YMCA. He was a coach in the Heritage Soccer League and Clark Griffith Baseball League, and enjoyed playing golf.

MANTENO -- Pasquale Montagano, 84, of Manteno, died today (Aug. 29, 2003) at his home. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Home in Manteno.

ST. GEORGE -- A funeral Mass for Guymond A. Raymond, 63, of St. George, was celebrated Aug. 27 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Burial was in St. George cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangement were by Bourbonnais Chapel of Schreffler Funeral Homes. Mr. Raymond died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at his home. He was a dispatcher for A.N. Webber for 13 years and worked 23 years at Roper Corp. in Kankakee as a shipping supervisor. He was born April 3, 1940, in St. George, the son of Rene "Honey" and Viola Guimond Raymond. His parents are deceased. Surviving are his wife, the former Susan K. King, whom he married Nov. 24, 1964 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, of St. George; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian and Deborah Raymond, of Vero Beach, Fla., Stephen Raymond of Mesquite, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Meribeth and Tony Pierce of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Wilbur "Butch" Wagner of Bradley; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Adrien and Colette Raymond of Kankakee, Eva Raymond of Bourbonnais, Patricia King of Woodinville, Wash.; three grandchildren, Nicholas Pierce of Bourbonnais, Jourdan and Amanda Raymond of Vero Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Richard Raymond, is deceased. He was a specialist 5th class sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve and a member of the Harvey Ruel American Legion Post 1164 in St. George. Mr. Raymond was a lifelong member of St. George Catholic Church and a member of the Northern Illinois Mustang Club. He enjoyed restoring his 1966 Ford Mustang and participating in local car shows, flower gardening and working on his home with his wife.

Betty Salmond

Betty Jane Salmond, 81, formerly of Bradley, died Tuesday (Aug. 26, 2003) in Vincennes, Ind. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Cecelia Alexander

WATSEKA -- Visitation for Cecelia Alexander, 95, of Watseka, will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edmund's Catholic Church in Watseka. Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Ashkum cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Edmund's Catholic Church, where she was a member, or Community Service Council. Mrs. Alexander died Friday (Aug. 29, 2003) at Watseka Health Care Center. She was born Sept. 27, 1907 in Alton, the daughter of William and Margaret Driscoll. Her husbands were: Emmett Mehan (died in 1932); Paul McAnarney (died in 1964); and Cloyd Alexander (died in 1994). Surviving are four sons, Emmet Meehan of Ft. Myers, Fla., Alan Meehan of Winter Haven, Fla., Paul "Mick" McAnarney of Watseka, Jerry McAnarney of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Sally Tammen of Danforth; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Three brothers and five sisters are deceased. Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Watseka American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary.
