A.C. Montgomery, 65, of Kankakee, died Monday (Aug. 18, 2003) at his home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church in Kankakee. Rev. Herman Polk will officiate. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Kankakee. Mr. Montgomery was a truck driver for over 30 years. He was born Sept. 25, 1937, in Lake, Miss., the son of Joe and Ira Bell Gray Montgomery. His parents are deceased. He married
the former Lonnie Mae Thames June 18, 1959 in Forest, Miss. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Brenda Montgomery, Timothy and Mindy Montgomery, all of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon and LeRoy Saine and Barbara Milan, all of Hammond, Ind.; four sisters, Estella White of North Las Vegas, Nev., Carrie Willis of Detroit, Mich., Ruby Johnson of Southfield, Mich., Jo Bessie Buckley of Akron, Ohio; one brother, Lonzo Montgomery of Lake, Miss.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and special friend, Mary Walters and family. Two sisters, Betty Montgomery and Rosie Lee Davis; and one brother, Johnie B. Montgomery, are deceased. Mr. Montgomery served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958 and was a member of the Kankakee American Legion Post 85 and the Kankakee VFW Post 2857. He was a member of the Masonic Temple in Kankakee.

BRAIDWOOD -- Clyde A. Howard, 61, of Braidwood, died Saturday at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Visitaiton will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Forsythe Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Forsythe Funeral Home, with cremation to follow the service. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Howard was employed by Waste Management and was a 20 year member of Teamsters Local 179. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Sharon Schoonveld Howard; three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Wendy Howard, of Florida; David and Doreen Howard, of Braidwood; and Wayne and Amy Gillis Howard of Braidwood; step-son Richard Mayotte, Jr., of South Carolina; step-daughter, Sherri and Keith Richey, of South Carolina; mother, Ella Howard, of Joliet; two sisters and brothers-in-law Patricia and Paul Fuerst, of New Lenox, Jeanette and Dale Creech, of Florida; a brother, Wayne Howard of Joliet; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His father, Wayne Howard, and two infant sons are deceased. He loved to watch his grandchildren play baseball and was fond of Sunday afternoon football.

His parents and brother Richard Raymond are deceased. Mr. Raymond was a Roman Catholic. He was a member of the Harvey Ruel American Legion in St. George; Northern Illinois Mustang Club; and enjoyed Mustang shows and flower gardening. Mr. Raymond was a dispatcher for A.N. Webber for 13 years and worked 23 years at Roper Corp. as a shipping supervisor. He was a specialist 5th class sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Rigoberto Salgado
Rigoberto "Rigo" Salgado Jr., 16, of Bourbonnais, died Friday (Aug. 22, 2003) at Loyola University Medical Center from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. Revs. Gregor Gorsic and Charles Wheeler will co-officiate. Burial will be in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the family wishes or for Masses. Rigoberto was born Nov. 26, 1986 in Chicago, the son of Rigoberto Sr. and Graciela Bolivar Salgado. He was to start his junior year at Bishop McNamara High School and he was on the soccer team. Surviving are his parents of Bourbonnais; two brothers, Angel and Noel Salgado, both at home; paternal grandparents, Artyro and Cleotilda Salgado of Durango, Mexico; maternal grandparents, Victoriano and Francisca Bolivar of Durango, Mexico; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Rigoberto helped his family in the operation of their restaurant, American Bistro in Kankakee. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. He was active in Student Life at Bishop McNamara High School and participated in school plays. Rigoberto attended St. George Grade School and helped raise money for his family's hometown in Mexico. He enjoyed horses and participated in rodeos in Mexico.

Mrs. Simon attended Mary Washington University and the University of Missouri. She was employed a number of years as a reporter/editor for the Bergen Record in Hackensack, N.J. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church, active in the League of Women Voters and served one term as president of the Kansas chapter. She was a former president of the Kankakee League of Women Voters.

Private services for Russell I. Sorensen, 93, of Bourbonnais, will be held Monday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Burial will be in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais. Dec. 18, 1938 in Pembroke, Va., of Bourbonnais; one son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Linda Sorensen of Conestoga, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Harry Westerholm of Nesbanic Station, N.J., Cookie and Rick Longtin of Kankakee; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Three sisters and six brothers are deceased. Mr. Sorensen was a retired soil conservationist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was a 1933 graduate of Syracuse University and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, walking and working puzzles.

Roberta M. Albert, 58, of Bourbonnais, formerly of Orland Park, died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at her home, after an extended illness. There will be no visitation or services. She donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Association. Memorials may be made to the Animal Cruelty Society. Arrangements are by the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Ms. Albert had worked at White Castle. She was born Nov. 10, 1944, in Evergreen Park, the daughter of Robert and Eleanor Keppner Heimerdinger. Surviving are five daughters and three sons-in-law, Angelia and Charles Doctor of New Lenox, Anita and Roy Pfaender of Carol Stream, Amy Hudspeth of Arkansas, Tina Milligan of Morris, Tracy and Joe Senko of Bourbonnais; her parents of Wisconsin; four sisters, Peggy, Marion, Sharon and Billie; one brother, Robert; and 17 grandchildren. She loved animals and was known to adopt strays.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. She was born April 21, 1933, in Chicago, the daughter of Walter and Irene Skwarczynski Krusinski. Her husband, Robert E. Brady, died Sept. 18, 1984. Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Walter and Carol Brady of Virginia, Paul Brady of Country Club Hills, Mark and Patty Brady of Bourbonnais, David and Kelly Brady of Huntersville, N.C.; one daughter, Katherine Ericksen of Kankakee; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Harriet and Phillip Keating of Joliet, Judith Krusinski of Richton Park; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sue Krusinski of Richton Park; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brady attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kankakee. She was a duplicate bridge player and loved to read. She was also a history buff, stamp collector and a Chicago sports fan.

Marvin J. Gereaux, 71, of Bourbonnais, died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, Bourbonnais, where he was a member. Burial, with military rites by the Kankakee American Legion Post 85, will be in Maternity BVM cemetery, Bourbonnais. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to Maternity BVM Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Gereaux retired from Commonwealth Edison as a lineman and crew chief after 42 years of service. July 9, 1955, at St. John's Catholic Church in Joliet, of Bourbonnais; one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Katherine Gereaux of Dwight; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen Dillon of Reston, Va., Deborah and Donald Overacker of Kankakee, Patricia and Mark Meents of Bourbonnais; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Ethel Gereaux of Aroma Park, Joel and Carol Gereaux of Bradley; seven grandchildren, Renee, Tracy and Amy Overacker, Sarah and Kirby Gereaux, Wyatt and Jordan Dillon; and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Ruth Rash, Faith Benoit and Evelyn Heath, are deceased. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at his church; served as a Eucharistic minster; and was on the welcoming committee. He was also on the Maternity BVM Credit Union Board and a member. Mr. Gereaux was recently named to the BBCHS Hall of Fame for being a member of the Elite Eight Basketball Team from 1949-1950 of which he was very proud. He was an IHSA sports official for 49 years, officiating at football, basketball, baseball and softball in the surrounding areas. He loved being involved in local sports. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Kankakee American Legion Post 85 and the Bradley Moose Lodge. Marvin took special pride being involved in his grandchildren's lives.

He died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. Mr. Hendricks drove cars for the Watseka Dodge Dealer and was a pressman at UARCO for 38 years. He was also a restaurateur and had a fruit stand in Watseka for several years. He was born June 28, 1938, in Watseka, the son of William and Ellen J. Cox Hendricks. His father is deceased. He had been a union steward. He played the guitar, reading and liked building things.
