Raymond L. "Ray" Hubly, 50, of Bourbonnais, died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at his home, after a sudden illness. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Wednesday until the 6 p.m. services at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bradley. Rev. Craig Sagebiel will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private inurnment will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hubly was a truck driver for ABF Freight. He previously had worked at Rogers Cartage until it closed. He was born May 6, 1953, in Kankakee, the son of James J. and Ruah Laase Hubly. Aug. 6, 1977, in Kankakee, of Bourbonnais; two sons, Adam Hubly and his fiance, Julie Schilling of Clifton, Joseph Hubly of Bourbonnais; his parents of Kankakee; one sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and Dan Petry of Kankakee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James T. and Paula Hubly, Matthew and Debra Hubly, all of Kankakee; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hubly served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed crossword puzzles.

BEECHER -- Franklin D. Loitz, 84, of Beecher, died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at St. James Hospital. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hack Funeral Home in Beecher, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Kermit Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in Heusing cemetery in Grant Park. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Peotone or to St. James Vitas. Mr. Loitz had worked at a car dealership and grain dealership. He had also been involved in farming and trucking. He was born May 5, 1919, in Peotone, the son of Frank and Myrtle Drecksler Loitz. Surviving are his wife, the former Fannie Van Der Aa, of Beecher; three daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Schnittker of Crete, Betty Nicks of Beecher, Barbara and Harley Fanning of Grant Park; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Ann Loitz of Beecher; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One sister, Bernice, died in 1925. Mr. Loitz was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peotone.

WATSEKA -- Services for Imogene E. Hines, 84, of Watseka, were held Aug. 23 at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. David Todd officiated. Mrs. Hines died Aug. 19, 2003. One brother, Richard Raymond, is deceased. He was a specialist 5th class sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve and a member of the Harvey Ruel American Legion Post 1164 in St. George. Mr. Raymond was a lifelong member of St. George Catholic Church and a member of the Northern Illinois Mustang Club. He enjoyed restoring his 1966 Ford Mustang and participating in local car shows, flower gardening and working on his home with his wife.

Burial will be in Grand Prairie cemetery in Bonfield. Memorials may be made to Grand Prairie United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice. Mr. Piper was a lifelong farmer in the Bonfield area. He did custom hay baling and corn shelling in the County West. He was born June 17, 1919, in Bonfield, the son of Fred and Susan Wagner Piper. His parents are deceased. One sister, Marilyn Piper; and one grandson, Michael Sharper, are deceased. He was a member of Grand Prairie United Methodist Church, Bonfield, where he served on numerous boards and committees. He also taught Sunday School. Mr. Piper was a member of the Bonfield Sportsman Club, the Kankakee County Farm Bureau, a former Salina Township trustee, director of the Union Hill Farmers Elevator and the Salina Township Committee of the ASCS. He enjoyed traveling and traveled to Florida in the winter for over 25 years. He loved having coffee in the morning with his friends.

COAL CITY -- Bertha Rossi, 104, of Coal City, died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at the Grundy County Home in Morris. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Coal City United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Bob Snider will officiate. Burial will be in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve, Jerry, Sheri, Michael, Stephanie and Matthew Provance. Mrs. Rossi worked as a seamstress at Granerts and Hyman's Clothing Factories until her retirement in 1964. Sept. 22, 1928, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lockport, died in 1961. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Ivan Provance of Coal City; two grandchildren, Steve and Jane Provance, Jerry and Patty Provance, all of Coal City; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. One great-grandson, Jeremy Provance; three brothers, Henry, Frank and Fred Facinelli; and five sisters, Ann Smith, Ida Marketti, Selma Rudow, Agnes Pritz and Matilda Sayers, are deceased. Mrs. Rossi was a member of the Coal City Senior Club. She enjoyed quilting at the Campbell House with her friends and babysitting for her great-grandchildren.

MINOOKA -- Donna K. Broucek, 42, of Minooka, mother of a Coal City resident, died Saturday (Aug. 16, 2003) at her home. A funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 19 at Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. Rev. Mike Pennock and Deacon Jack Schimandle officiated. Burial was in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Will County Humane Society. She was employed as a manager for Commonwealth Edison for over 20 years. She also owned and operated Kashara Kennels, which is known worldwide for over 50 American and International champion Afghan Hounds. She was licensed by the American Kennel Club to judge several breeds of dogs. She was born in Kansas City, Mo. and was a former Gardner resident and longtime Joliet area resident. Surviving are her husband, Dennis Brown of Minooka; one son, John Broucek of Coal City; her father, Clarence Hnetkovsky of Goose Lake; and one sister, Jeanne Hnetkovsky of Bloomington. Her mother, Maxine Hnetkovsky; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Nellie Truffa; and paternal grandparents, Frank and Elizabeth Hnetkovsky, are deceased. She was a graduate of Gardner-South Wilmington High School and the College of St. Francis.

MARSEILLES -- Frank E. Cresto, 89, of Marseilles and the brother of a Coal City resident, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2003) at Rivershores Center in Marseilles. A funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marseilles, where he was a member. Rev. Bo Schmitt officiated. Burial was in Riverview cemetery, Marseilles. Mr. Cresto owned and operated the Marseilles Foodmart and the Dayton Dairy before his retirement. He had also been a volunteer fireman for 25 years. FAIRBURY -- Penny Lou Hodges, 41, of Fairbury, twin sister of a Chatsworth resident, died Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) at Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit, Wis. Services were held Aug. 19 at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury. Rev. Paul Darveau officiated. Burial was in Graceland cemetery, Fairbury. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Ms. Hodges was employed for 20 years at Fairbury Hospital and later at Daves Supermarket in Fairbury. She was born June 13, 1962, in Fairbury, the daughter of Denton and Helen Hines Hodges. Her father is deceased. Surviving are her mother of Fairbury; her twin sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Dave Stork of Chatsworth; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Rodney and Terri Hodges of Forrest, Terry Hodges and John Hodges, both of Fairbury; three nieces and three nephews. She was a 1980 graduate of Fairbury High School and a big Nascar fan.
