ST. ANNE -- Mary L. Rogers, 76, of St. Anne, died Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at St. Anne Woods Chapel. Rev. Louis Barnes will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Leggett Funeral Home in Hopkins Park is in charge of arrangements. She was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Greenville, Miss., the daughter of Robert Dorsey and Lorene Cooper. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Willie Rogers of St. Anne; one son, Selmon Rogers of Danville; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. One daughter, two sisters, one brother, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren, are deceased. Ms. Rogers was a resident of the area for 33 years. She enjoyed fishing.

A funeral Mass for Robert W. "Breeze" Bisaillon, 84, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated Aug. 20 at Maternity BVM Catholic Church. Rev. John Linnan officiated. Mr. Bisaillon died Aug. 17, 2003. Two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Flodene and Sherwood Thorsen, Charlotte and Joseph Vavrek and James Jensen, are deceased. Mr. Uran served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Cedar Lake American Legion Post 261. He was also a member of the Christian faith. He enjoyed remodeling, fishing and all types of carpentry work.

MESA, Ariz. -- Lorena Peterson, 93, of Mesa, Ariz., a former alderman of Wilmington, died Sunday (Aug. 10, 2003) at her home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. Rev. Jan Chandler will officiate. Private burial will be in the Oakwood cemetery in Wilmington. Memorials may be made in her name to the Cypress Court Memorial Fund, 310 S. 63rd, Mesa, Ariz.; the First Presbyterian Church, Van Buren and Kankakee St., Wilmington, IL 60481 or to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231-4596. Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington is in charge of arrangements. In 1957, she became the first elected alderwoman to serve on the Wilmington City Council. After serving several terms, she accepted a position as the first woman director of Civil Defense and another as head of the Emergency Services Disaster Agency. She worked as an election judge in Wilmington's Fourth Ward, was active in the Will County Republican Women's Club and Southwest Republican Women's Club. She was born Feb. 15, 1910, in Danville, the daughter of William Henry and Shirley Frances Harrison Ott. Her husbands, Jesse W. Doolittle, Chris Peterson and Gene Goulding, are deceased. She was educated and studied piano in her childhood years on family farms in Yankton, S.D., and in Elwood, Ill. In 1928, as the young bride of Jesse Doolittle, a WLS Radio Barn Dance star, she became an entertainer, too. She played guitar and piano, sang and danced as she, her husband and the rest of the WLS Chicago radio troupe traveled the country in the heyday of radio, entertaining at barn dances and state fairs. Moving to Wilmington in the early 30s, she began her lifelong nursing career at the Wilmington Soldier's Widows Home. She remained active in the community, teaching Sunday School for 20 years, and serving as president of the Ruth Circle in the Wilmington Presbyterian Church. She also was a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Association and was active for 18 years in Brownie Troop 37 of the Girl Scouts which she organized. She was president of the Wilmington Parent Teachers Association and room mother for all four of her children. She was past president and charter member of the VFW Auxiliary, charter member of the Wilmington Youth Center and a member of the Wilmington Historical Society. Surviving are one son and two daughters-in-law, Chris A. and Brigitte Peterson of Shorewood and Sue Doolittle of Minooka; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley A. and David Prest of Tempe, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; two nephews; and several cousins. One daughter, Delores A. Weidenbach Garcia; one son, Gene W. Doolittle; one grandson; one great-grandson; and one sister, Francis Heeg, are deceased.
