MOMENCE -- Visitation for Gertrude Kumke, 98, of Momence, will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Momence Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Momence, where she was a member. Rev. Jerry Haley will officiate. Burial will be in the Momence cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Momence or to the American Cancer Society. She died Thursday (Aug. 14, 2003). Mrs. Kumke retired as an operator for Illinois Bell Telephone after over 30 years of service. She was born April 9, 1905, in Momence, the daughter of Arthur and Martha Washburn Nagle. Her husbands, Leo Martin and William Kumke, are deceased. Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Janice Martin of Momence; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. One son, Donald Martin; one daughter, Joyce Kinney; and three brothers are deceased. Mrs. Kumke was a member of the Momence Woman's Club, the Martha Circle, Home Extension of Kankakee and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, crocheting and visiting with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Lee retired in 1980 after 35 years with Shapiro Developmental Center as a Mental Health Tech 4. She was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Kankakee, the daughter of Anthony and Anna Stalianes Staniewicz. Lee III, Michelle and Will Isaacks, Skylena Senor, Anthony Senor and Heidi Senor; three great-grandchildren, Gideon Isaacks, Haleigh Stahl, Dominique Senor; and special friends, Mary and Anthony Melvin and Ethel Guynn, all of Kankakee, and Helen Roof of Buckingham. Two sisters, Anntionette Hammond and Alice Pombert; and one brother, Anthony, are deceased. She loved jewelry, bingo, gardening and her grandchildren.

WELLINGTON -- Visitation for Orlo "Mac" A. McKibben Jr., 62, and his wife, Carolyn E. McKibben, 61, both of Wellington, will be from 2 p.m. Saturday until the 3 p.m. services at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Rev. Gary Milton will officiate. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. The couple died Wednesday (Aug. 13, 2003) at Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in a house fire. Mr. McKibben was a self-employed consultant in combustion technology. He was born June 12, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Orlo and Marguerite Connell McKibben. His parents are deceased. She was born Aug. 11, 1942, in Franklin, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Mary Eggbeer Bigler. Her father is deceased. They were married

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. -- Evelyn Fern Morgan, 83, of Casa Grande, Ariz., formerly of Grant Park, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2003) at Hospice House in Casa Grande. Services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Church of the Nazarene. Rev. John Sweeney officiated. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kankakee. Memorials may be made in her name to the Nazarene Church Women's Ministries. Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Morgan worked as a secretary for Grant Park School District for 40 years. She was born Jan. 26, 1919, in Ottawa, the daughter of Floyd and Dora Hall. Her husband, Robert S. Morgan Sr., is deceased. Surviving are one son, Robert S. Morgan Jr. of Casa Grande, Ariz.; two daughters, Sheryl Morgan of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Valerie Channels of East Liverpool, Ohio; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Morgan moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. 10 years ago from Grant Park. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and Koinonia.

Services were held Aug. 9 at the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac. Rev. Daniel Woodward officiated. Burial was in South Side cemetery in Pontiac. BRACEVILLE -- Visitation for George H. Ballenger, 79, of Braceville, will be from 11 a.m. today until the 1 p.m. services at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery at a later date. He died Thursday (Aug. 7, 2003) at his home from cancer. Mr. Ballenger retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1985 after 15 years of service. He was an honorary member of the Carpenters Union Local 916 Public Relations Committee. He was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Jamestown, Ky., the son of Proctor and Lulu Belle Cundiff Ballenger. Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Jean Albritton, whom he married
March 13, 1948, in Clinton, of Braceville; one daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Robert Domagala of Braceville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Cathy Ballenger and Roy Ballenger, all of Braceville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Frances Hall and Ruth and Robert Meade, all of Clinton. Four brothers, Creed, Charles, Dan and Ted Ballenger; and two sisters, Mary Hemminger and Pauline Glover, are deceased. Mr. Ballenger served in the U.S. Army during World War II. One sister, one niece and one nephew, are deceased. Mr. Dyon served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart.

He was a former member of the Gilman Moose Lodge.

Mr. Thacker worked 38 years with the State of Illinois as a stationary engineer between the Pontiac Center and Fox Children's Center, retiring in 1990. He was born May 11, 1928, in Fillmore, the son of Wade C. and Nobel M. Rogers Thacker. His first wife, the former Dorthy Bump, died in 1977. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Esther Witthoft Virgin; three sons, Edward Daniel, Earl and Eric, all of Birmingham; two grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Cheryl Virgin of Bradley; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
