ST. ANNE -- Donald Dixon, 54, of St. Anne, died Wednesday (Aug. 6, 2003) at his home. A private memorial service was held. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family. Fitzpatrick Funeral Directors in Kankakee is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Dixon was a laborer, dry waller and window washer. He was born July 16, 1949, in Kankakee, the son of George and Geneva Janczak Dixon. His parents are deceased. Surviving are his wife, the former Pamala Szozda, whom he married
April 15, 1977, in Kankakee, of St. Anne; one daughter, Mandie Dixon of St. Anne; two grandchildren, Jordan and Jaelin; one brother-in-law, Bud Beaasley; four nieces and one nephew; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. One sister, Diane Beasley, is deceased. Mr. Dixon served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Aroma Park American Legion and the Bradley VFW.

Latonya Marie Denise Dunlap, 21, of McLeansboro, formerly of Kankakee, died Friday (Aug. 1, 2003) in St. Louis, Mo. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the Church of the Cross in Momence. Revs. Louis Barnes and Lawrence Shepard will officiate. Burial will be in the Momence cemetery. Jones Funeral Home in Kankakee is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 2, 1982, in Kankakee, the daughter of Milton and Irene Moore Dunlap. Surviving besides her parents of McLeansboro are one son, Kevion Collins of McLeansboro; two sisters, Marquita Dunlap and Antionette Dunlap, both of McLeansboro; two brothers, Milton Dunlap Jr. of McLeansboro, Reggie Lewis of Atlanta, Ga.; special friend, Trevail Collins of Mt. Vernon; and maternal grandparents, Alvin Smith of Chicago and Louis and Dana Scott of Robbins. Paternal grandparents, James and Martha Dunlap; one uncle, Willie Dunlap; and one aunt, Eyvonne Dunlap, are deceased. She was a member of the Living Light Total Outreach for Christ.

WILMINGTON -- Donna Fennewald, 56, of Wilmington, died Wednesday (Aug. 6, 2003) at her home. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Wilmington. Memorials may be made to the Joliet Area Hospice or to the American Cancer Society. She was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Joliet, the daughter of Clifford and Amy Banks Muncey. Her parents are deceased. Surviving are her husband, Melvin; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Melissa L. Williams, Melanie A. and Mike Hendrickson, Melody S. and Louis Steward; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Marolyn K. and Ron Williams, Brenda J. and Hank Springer; one brother, Richard B. Muncey; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson; and her stepfather, Laverne Nelson.

ASHKUM -- Veronica M. Flageole, 93, of Ashkum, died Wednesday (Aug. 6, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum, where she was a member. Rev. James Holup will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashkum Catholic cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Mrs. Flageole had worked at Sears in Chicago, was a cook at the Ashkum Grade School and a cashier at Mulligans and Diekens Grocery. She was born Sept. 8, 1909, in Ashkum, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Schaner Rohr. Her husband, William J. Flageole, whom she married
Dec. 29, 1926, in Ashkum, died March 19, 1976. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marion and Art Harms of Ashkum, Vivian and Ed Maher of Kankakee; one son, William H. Flageole of Ashkum; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Four brothers and one sister are deceased. She was a member of the CCW at her church. Mrs. Flageole was a volunteer at the Ashkum schools and delivered Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed playing cards, volunteering and reading.

STREATOR -- Brianna Lee "Nanna" Foley, 9, of Streator, a relative of area residents, died Tuesday (Aug. 5, 2003) at Morris Community Hospital. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a 4:30 p.m. vigil service, at the Elias Funeral Home in Streator. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator, where she was a member. Monsignor John Prendergast will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery in Campus. Pallbearers will be Josh Warfield, Jeremey Kolesar, Justin Chalkey, Chad Kolesar, Riley Bliss, Brandon Kersch and Dylan Kersch. Honorary pallbearers will be Heather Kolesar, Natalie Chalkey, Hollie Kolesar, Alexis Hays, Alivia Warfield, Kara Kersch, Martha and Dulce Montes. Memorials may be made to the family. She was born July 23, 1994, in Streator, the daughter of Thomas and Tina Noble Foley. Surviving besides her parents of Streator are one sister, Maggie Mae Foley at home; maternal grandparents, Dale Noble of Streator, Marge Denyes of Streator; aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. James Chalkey, Julie and Rick Kolesar, all of Streator, Joe Foley of Pontiac, Kathy Kersch of Reddick; and several cousins. Her paternal grandmother, Patricia Foley; and paternal great-grandfather, Lee Foley are deceased. Brianna was an honor student at Oakland Park Grade School where she was about to begin the fourth grade. She had just finished her first year in Streator Youth Softball where she made the All-Star Team. She was involved with the AWANA club and Bible School.
Alphonzo Hyman
MOMENCE -- Visitation for Alphonzo "Al" Morris Hyman, 87, of Momence, will be from 11 a.m. Friday until the 11:30 a.m. services at Lax Mortuary in Kankakee. Rev. Chalmos Mitchell Sr. will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. He died Tuesday (Aug. 5, 2003) at Momence Meadows Nursing Center. Mr. Hyman was a painter of engine parts for Pioneer Gen-E Motors in Chicago and retired from work in maintenance at Cook County Hospital. He was born April 1, 1916, in Demopolis, Ala. Surviving are his wife, the former Rachel Mitchell, whom he married
in 1943, of Momence; one son, James Gipson Sr. of Momence; one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and James Gray of Chicago Heights; former daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Evans of Holland, Mich.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and other relatives. Two sisters, Eloise Hyman and Callie Scott, are deceased. Mr. Hyman was a member of Douglas Park Baptist Church in Chicago and a resident of the area for 30 years. He enjoyed reading, especially the National Geographic; gardening, outdoor activities and dogs.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, with 7:30 p.m. Masonic rites at the Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Duane Kaufman will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverview cemetery. Pallbearers will be brother Masons. Mr. Akins retired from the Painters Local 33 in Joliet in 1999.
