BUCKINGHAM -- A funeral Mass for Gerald V. O'Brien, 77, of Buckingham, was celebrated Dec. 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Cabery. Rev. Richard Kostelz officiated.
Mr. O'Brien died Nov. 28, 2002.
Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery, Cabery. Pallbearers were Tom, Bill and Darren O'Brien, Roger Wood, Paul Shreffler and Tim, Tom and Terry Buckley.
Earl Morrison
Services for Earl F. Morrison, 72, of Bradley, were held Dec. 3 at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Rev. Lance Hurley officiated.
Mr. Morrison died Nov. 26, 2002.
Burial, with military rites by the Kankakee American Legion Post 85, was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Tester, James Brooks, Leone Lambert, Ron Sieling, Tom Hovel and Chris Geraci.
Wesley Johnson
Services for Wesley "Bud" Johnson, 89, of Bourbonnais, were held Nov. 30 at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Rev. Frank Hoss officiated.
Burial, with military rites by the Momence Honor Guard, was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Johnson, Gary Spencer, Doug Edwards, Jim Bourland, Bill Spencer and Curt Richardson.
LaVerna Perkinson
ONARGA -- LaVerna A. Dubbel Perkinson, 87, of Onarga, died Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2002) at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the 11:30 a.m. services at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gilman, where she was a member. Revs. Robert Downs and James Small will officiate.
Burial will be in the Onarga cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Building Fund or to the donor's choice.
Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Perkinson farmed with her husband for many years in the Onarga area.
She was born April 11, 1915, in Onarga, the daughter of Henry and Hilda Onken Dubbel.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth L. Perkinson, whom she married
Jan. 1, 1936, in Gilman, of Onarga; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Rita Perkinson of Onarga, Leon and Sue Perkinson of Cary, N.C.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lillian Kietzman of Paxton, Eileen and Victor Bergman of Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Perkinson was a member of the Ladies Circle of her church; charter member of the Onarga Home Extension; former leader of Onarga Busy Workers 4-H Club; former Onarga Women's Club member and Neighborhood Hobbie Club.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, gardening, playing the piano, organ and harmonica, music, crafts and reading.
Vernon Price
Visitation for Vernon "Boss" Allen Price, 45, of Kankakee, will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. service at Caldwell Chapel. Rev. Nathan Richmond will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Price died Thursday (Nov. 28, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born July 23, 1957 in Kankakee, the son of Vivian Thomas and Ruth Delores Miller Price. His father is deceased.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Kankakee, are two sisters, Rosella Ann Price and Ramona Marie Price, both of Kankakee; and one brother, Roderick Earl Price of Kankakee, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
One brother, Virgil G. Price; four uncles; three aunts; maternal and paternal grandparents; two nephews; and one niece are deceased.
Mr. Price enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Joseph Schultz
Air Force retiree
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Joseph Dale Schultz, 79, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Kankakee, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002).
Services will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Carmichael, Calif.
Burial will be in Yuba City, Calif.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 4524 Garfield Ave., Carmichael, CA 95608.
Mr. Schultz was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Philippines and Germany and eight years in Italy with NATO.
He was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Kankakee, the son of Louis J. and Mae C. Sweeney Schultz.
His wife, the former Hildegard Gallach, died in 1995.
Surviving are one sister, Patricia S. Montgomery of Bourbonnais; and one niece, Judith M. Hollywood of Nevada City, Calif.
Two sisters, Marjorie S. Daly and Elinor C. Hollywood, are deceased.
He had lived in California for 32 years.
Aaron Sorenson
Aaron P. Sorenson, 32, of Creve Coeur, formerly of Kankakee, died Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2002) at his home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Sorenson had been a construction worker.
He was born May 11, 1970 in Kankakee.
Surviving are one daughter, Heaven Sorenson of Kankakee; his father, Randall Sorenson of Bourbonnais; his mother, Joy Fraher of Kankakee; one sister, Dawn Coryell of Bradley; one brother, Jerod Sorenson of Rankin; paternal grandmother, Erma Sorenson of Kankakee; and several aunts and uncles.
His maternal grandparents, Cora and A.P. Reece; and paternal grandfather, Clifford Sorenson, are deceased.
William N. Stone
farmer for 75 years
HERSCHER -- William N. "Bill" Stone, 92, of Herscher, formerly of Milks Grove Township, Clifton, went to his eternal life Monday (Dec. 2, 2002).
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Herscher, where he was a member. Rev. Ronald Hart and Rev. James Holup will co-celebrate.
Burial will be in Pilot Township cemetery, Herscher.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for Masses or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
He was born Sept. 15, 1910, in Kankakee, the son of William and Caroline Francoeur Stone.
His wife, the former Mable D. Garreau of Herscher, whom he married
Jan. 8, 1930, at St. James Catholic Church in Irwin, died Dec. 1, 1995.
Surviving are one son, LaVerne Stone of Chebanse and special friend, Sandy Britt of Bradley; two daughters, Elvira Morris and special friend, Lyle Myhr of Olympia, Wash., and Arvella and Leo Morris Sr. of Sheldon; one half-brother, Shirley Stone; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Viola Lambert of Herscher and Doris Kuntz of Manteno.
One infant son, William Stone Jr.; one infant great-grandson, William Morris; one daughter-in-law, Thelma Stone; two brothers, Elmer Stone and Gabriel Stone; and three sisters, Annette Shultz, Lucille Hadden and Violet McClintock; and his foster parents, Alimore and Elizabeth Bertrand, are deceased.
Mr. Stone was a farmer for 75 years, spending 39 of those years in Milks Grove Township, Clifton. The final years with his son, LaVerne, at whose home Mr. Stone died from cancer.
Sylvia Partain and Sandy Britt were his caretakers.
He invented physical fitness weights made from pool balls. He also loved tending his favorite flower, impatiens, and enjoyed visiting with his many friends. He had a smile for everyone.
Mr. Stone and his dog, Tiny, were great companions.
Opal Weidert
WATSEKA -- Visitation for Opal E. Weidert, 87, of Watseka, will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until the noon services at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Joe Hughes will officiate.
Burial will be in the GAR cemetery, Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Weidert died Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
She was born Jan. 12, 1915, in Watseka, the daughter of Charles and Elenora McElhaney Starkey. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Howard R. Weidert, whom she married
June 14, 1932, in Fowler, Ind., died Dec. 28, 1995.
Surviving are one daughter and her special friend, Jan Bolling and Bill Balthun of Kankakee; two grandchildren, Teri and Rick Busch of Newark, Del., Tami and Tom Dionne of Bradley; five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Candace and Christopher Busch, Brittney Draper and Karlie Dionne; and one sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Dale Barber of Green Valley, Ariz.
Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Mrs. Weidert was a member of the First Christian Church in Watseka.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and cooking.
Ellie White-Wenrick
WEST LEBANON, Ind. -- Ellie K. Seemann White-Wenrick, 55, of West Lebanon, formerly of Grant Park, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2002) at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette, Ind. after a short illness.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. (EST) Thursday until the 7 p.m. services at the Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon. Rev. Grover Williams will officiate.
Cremation rites will follow.
There will be no graveside service.
Memorials may be made to the family or to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Wenrick worked as a waitress in St. Anne, and also rode with her first husband, Roger White, a trucker, for 25 years.
She was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Grant Park, Kankakee County, the daughter of Wilmer and Julia Ann Keen Seemann. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Carroll Wenrick, whom she married
in 1996 in Kankakee; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Verna and Russell Brown of Clarksville, Tenn., Shirley and Orville Flournoy of Momence, Betty and Michael Snapp of Oak Island, N.C.; four brothers, David Seemann, Philip Seemann, Vernon R. Seemann and Wilmer "Bill" Seemann, all of Momence; and one sister-in-law, Jan Seemann of Momence.
One sister, Brenda Kozienski; and one nephew, John Edward Flournoy, are deceased.
She had lived in the Kankakee area before moving to Warren County, Ind. where she lived the past 30 years.
Mrs. Wenrick attended Momence schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Momence.
She enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking, making homemade candies and cookies.
She loved flowers and working in her flower garden.
