Wendell Harms

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Wendell R. Harms, 76, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Crescent City, died Thursday (April 10, 2003) at his home.
Services were held April 13 at the Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach, Fla.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Interment of cremains will be held June 15 in the Crescent City cemetery.
Mr. Harms was retired from A.O. Smith Corporation. He was also retired from Pratt Whitney Aircraft in West Palm Beach, Fla. after 26 years of service.
He was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Crescent City, the son of R. Wesley and Lena Focken Harms.
Surviving are his former wife, Carolyn Harms of West Palm Beach; six children, Brenda and Jim Kilgore, Vicki L. Harms, Terry and Norma Harms, Kim and Jack Reynolds, all of Royal Palm Beach, Sharon and Robert Smith of Tallahassee, Fla, Becky and Hector Suarez of Boynton Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and nine great-granchildren; one brother, Robert Harms of California; two sisters, Sandra Harms-Hilgert of Oregon and Pat and Ron Freeman of Punta Gorda, Fla.
Mr. Harms served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He was a member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Wellington, the Royal Palm Beach Jaycees and the American Legion of Royal Palm Beach.
Mr. Harms had lived in the Palm Beach area off and on since 1960.

Helen Lackey

PAXTON -- Helen Lackey, 86, of Paxton, died Thursday (April 17, 2003) at Heartland Health Care Center, Paxton.
Arrangements are pending at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park.

Deena Rankin
speech therapist

Visitation for Deena Rankin, 47, of Bourbonnais, was from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and from 10 a.m. today until the 11 a.m. services at Bethel Baptist Church in Bourbonnais. Rev. Paul Mount officiated.
Burial will be Saturday in Jones cemetery, Flat Rock, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Bulgaria Mission Trip through Bethel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rankin was a speech therapist for the Manteno School District.
She died Tuesday (April 15, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born Oct. 17, 1955 in Vincennes, Ind., the daughter of Wayne Dee and Vera Mae Ford Weger. Her mother is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, James Rankin, whom she married May 22, 1976 in Flat Rock, Ill., of Bourbonnais; two daughters, Jill and Jenna Rankin, both of Bourbonnais; her father of Bourbonnais; aunts and uncles.
Mrs. Rankin was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Bourbonnais, where she was the pre-school director and a member of Women on Missions.
She was also a member of the Illinois Speech and Hearing Association and the National Speech and Hearing Association.
She enjoyed reading.

Christina Rieger

FORREST -- Christina "Tina" Sue Palen Rieger, 41, of Forrest, died Thursday (April 17, 2003) at her home.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Hager Memorial Home in Forrest.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Chatsworth. Rev. Richard Brunskill will officiate.
Burial will be in the Forrest cemetery.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for her children, established at the First State Bank of Forrest.
Mrs. Rieger was an assistant cashier at the First State Bank of Forrest, Erie State Bank and The Heights Bank; and vice president of Jamies Inc.
She was born Nov. 23, 1961, in Kankakee, the daughter of Leo and Lorraine Koertgen Palen.
Surviving are her husband, James Donald "Jamie" Rieger, whom she married Aug. 24, 1985, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Chatsworth, of Forrest; two daughters, Aimee and Emily Rieger, both at home; two sons, Austin and Evan Rieger, both at home; her parents of Forrest; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Tim Dray of Forrest, Marie and Robert King of Piper City, Judy and Todd Somers of Forrest, Leona and Mark Pacheco of Springfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Cheryl Palen, Joseph and Teresa Palen, all of Forrest; mother-in-law, Dee Rieger of Chatsworth; and eight nieces and eight nephews.
Her grandparents and father-in-law are deceased.
She was a 1979 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School.
Mrs. Rieger was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Forrest and past president of the church Altar and Rosary Society.
She enjoyed gardening and volunteered for many of her children's school activities.

Jean Roberts

MANTENO -- Jean Frances Roberts, 65, of Manteno, died today (April 18, 2003) at her home.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bourbonnais, where she was a member. Michael Kilman will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Brown Funeral Home in Manteno is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Sept. 24, 1937, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Mary Morgan Nichols. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Herbert N. Roberts Jr., whom she married Nov. 25, 1955, is deceased.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Roberts of Lockport, Mark and Susan Roberts of Midlothian, Lt. Cmdr. Daniel and Susan Roberts of Chesapeake Bay, Va., Robert and Janet Roberts of Frankfort; two daughters and one son-in-law, Theresa and Greg Michalski of Chesapeake Bay, Va., Cynthia Roberts of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Janice Stockdale of Brookfield; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, James Nichols of Dwight, Raymond and Barbara Nichols of Lockport, Charles and Denise Davidenko of Glen Ellyn, Albert and Linda Davidenko of Red Grove, Wis.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her stepfather, Elmer Davidenko; one daughter, Joanie Roberts; one sister, Joan Stanko; and one brother, Daniel Davidenko are deceased.
Mrs. Roberts did volunteer work with World Wide Bible Education.
She enjoyed baking, knitting and singing in a band.

William Chittum

WATSEKA -- William M. Chittum, 89, of Watseka, died Wednesday (April 16, 2003) at the Iroquois Residents Home in Watseka.
Arrangements are pending at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka.

Mackenzie Creek

CISSNA PARK -- Mackenzie Rae Creek, infant daughter of Todd and Kim Creek of Pontiac, formerly of Cissna Park, died Monday (April 14, 2003) at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born earlier that day at St. James Hospital in Pontiac.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Southside cemetery in Pontiac.
Duffy Funeral Home of Pontiac is in charge of arrangements.
Her father was the former Cissna Park music teacher.

Frank Deulen
owned fencing business

MANTENO -- Frank E. Deulen, 83, of Manteno, died Wednesday (April 16, 2003) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.
There will be no visitation or services.
Burial will be held at a later date in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
The Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Deulen was self-employed in the fencing business.
He was born April 29, 1919, in Jamesville, Mo., the son of Walter and Lora Butler Deulen.
Surviving are his wife, the former Carolyn Lund, whom he married March 8, 1944, in Medford, Ore., of Kankakee; one son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Deborah Deulen of Kankakee; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carole and Arthur Gelino of Lansing, Mich., Lana Spears of Albuquerque, N.M., Vonna Hermens of Cape Town, South Africa; one brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and Donna Lee of California; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Pauline and Charlotte are deceased.
Mr. Deulen served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant.
He was a member of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of the Kankakee VFW and the Kankakee American Legion.

Charles Graham

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Charles Kurt Graham, infant son of Charles and Diana Graham of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Wednesday (April 9, 2003). His father is formerly of Clifton.
Graveside services were held April 11 at the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Rev. John Collins officiated.
He was born March 9, 2003.
Surviving besides his parents are grandparents, Earnest and Rebecca Graham of Clifton, George J. and Waltraud Williams; aunts and uncles, John and Sue Graham and William and Gloria Graham, all of Kankakee, Robert and Denise Graham of Park Forest, Michael and Debbie Graham of Clifton, Eddie and Shirley Williams, George III and Carla Williams, Angela C. Williams; and many cousins.

Harrison Hall

Visitation for Harrison Bernard "Bern" Hall, 61, of Bradley, was from 11 a.m. today until the 2 p.m. services at Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel in Kankakee. Rev. Bobby Bessant officiated.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Mr. Hall died Monday (April 14, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born June 11, 1941 in Harlan, Ky., the son of Thomas and Beulah White Hall. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Wilma Middleton, whom he married July 2, 1962 in Harlan, Ky., of Bradley; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bill and Donna Hall of Kankakee, Charlie Hall of Bourbonnais; one daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Joe Shepard of Logansport, Ind.; one sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Jack Coffer of Bradley; seven brothers and six sisters-in-law, Sam Hall of St. Anne, Kenneth and Louise Hall of Chebanse, Billie and Wanda Hall of Georgia, Johnnie and Ruth Hall, Paul and Becky Pridemore, all of Kankakee, Raymond and Shirley Hall of Bradley, David and Sue Pridemore of Limestone; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
One brother, Lowell, is deceased.
Mr. Hall retired in 1975 after over 20 years with Jones & McKnight Steel Co., now Burlington Steel.
He enjoyed working on cars and was a very good mechanic.

VonCile Hickey

MANTENO -- Visitation for VonCile Hickey, 82, of Manteno, will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the noon memorial service at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Manteno. Lance Hurley will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Cedar Park cemetery, Calumet Park.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mrs. Hickey died Wednesday (April 16, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center emergency room in Kankakee, after an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Paxton, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys Gardner Covert.
Surviving are three sons, Ralph Giltmier of Ohio, Scott Hickey of Calumet City, Dennis Eberhart of Manteno; three daughters and one son-in-law, Marcia Roberts of Bradley, Holley and Bill Henderson of Manteno, Candice DeYoung of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Rudy Cook of Manteno; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Her husbands, one granddaughter, Stephanie Henderson; two sisters, Jackie Tripp and Earlene Vanderwert; and one son, Dennis Giltmier are deceased.
She enjoyed crafts.
