BOLINGBROOK -- Paul R. Pennock III, 42, of Bolingbrook, brother of a Coal City resident, died Tuesday (April 8, 2003).
A funeral Mass was celebrated April 12 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Darien.
Burial was in Clarendon Hills cemetery.
Arrangements were by Hallowell & James Funeral Home in Downers Grove.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Pennock; three children, Amy, Tom and Kristy; one grandson; his parents, Paul and Judy Pennock; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kim Biel, Debra and Dennis Nuxoll; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mark and Jan Pennock, Father Mike Pennock of Coal City; grandmothers, Margaret Plachta and Marjorie Pennock; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Deena Rankin
Deena Rankin, 47, of Bourbonnais, died Tuesday (April 15, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Her husband James survives.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made for the Bulgaria Mission Trip, c/o Bethel Baptist Church.
Edith Shamblin
Shapiro retiree, WWII vet
Edith I. Shamblin, 80, of Bradley, died Monday (April 14, 2003) at the Illinois Veterans Home at Manteno.
There will be no visitation or services.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Inurnment will be in the Shamblin family cemetery in Caffee Junction, Ala.
Memorials may be made to Crohns-Colitis Foundation of America.
Arrangements are by Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
Mrs. Shamblin was retired from Shapiro Developmental Center.
She was born June 2, 1922 in Kankakee, the daughter of Herman and Rose Venske Kunde.
Her husband, Harold Shamblin, whom she married
Sept. 10, 1945 in Miami, Fla., died July 31, 1995.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Linda Shamblin, Harold Jr. and Lyda Shamblin, all of Bourbonnais; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Morris Brown of Pawnee, Patricia and Thomas Mayes of Geneseo; two sisters, Gladys Crosby of Bradley, Evelyn Lafine of Herscher; one brother, Gerald "Jerry" Kunde of Georgia; and five grandchildren.
One sister, Lucille McCorkle, is deceased.
She served with the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist's mate during World War II.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kankakee, and enjoyed crafts.
Mabel Teter
CHATSWORTH -- Mabel G. Teter, 90, of Chatsworth, died Tuesday (April 15, 2003) at Heritage Manor in Gibson City.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Hager Memorial Home in Chatsworth, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. service at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatsworth. Rev. Jerry Gentes will officiate.
Burial will be in Chatsworth cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Gibson City Community Hospital.
Mrs. Teter was born March 26, 1913 in Saunemin, the daughter of Otis and Margaret Folkerts Bargman.
Her husband, Donie Teter, whom she married
in April 1942, died Nov. 11, 1970.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Wayne Bertram, Lois and Keith Brucker, all of Melvin, Josephine and Dwight Johnson of Lexington; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Patricia Teter of Bourbonnais; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Dorothy Ashman, Mary and Clyde Hornickel, all of Chatsworth; one brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Georgianna Bargman of Chatsworth; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Three sisters; one brother; and one great-grandchild, are deceased.
Mrs. Teter was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatsworth.
She was a retired cook for the Chatsworth Public School.
She was a member of Royal Neighbors, Chatsworth Senior Citizens, and Women's Mission Work at her church.
She enjoyed quilting, playing bingo and cards, and her garden.

LIMESTONE -- Services for Leslie "Les" G. Styck, 65, of Limestone, were held May 29 at Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel in Kankakee. Revs. Don Long and John Franklin officiated. Mr. Styck died May 25, 2003. Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Monferdini, Glenn Kramer, Bernie Lavoie, Dale Dumas, Scott A. and Stephen Styck, Jessica Evans and Lindsey Landeck. Honorary pallbearers were Tami Styck, Tyler Evans, Emily and Robbie Landeck, Lauren and Logan Fritz. Bernadette Canfield A funeral Mass was celebrated May 30 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. Rev. Charles Wheeler officiated. Mrs. Canfield died May 28, 2003. Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Brian and Jeffrey Tegt, Randy and Scott Chaplinski, Bill Magruder and Reaferd Ellison.

BLOOMINGTON -- Wanetta June Jacobs, 75, of Bloomington, mother of a Kankakee resident, died Thursday (May 29, 2003) at ManorCare Health Services, Normal. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. Beth Wagner will officiate. June 20, 1946 in Bloomington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and RuthAnn Jacobs of Kankakee, David and Donna Jacobs of Lutz, Fla., Mike and Rita Jacobs of Newport News, Va.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Leta Podbelsek of Spencer, Wis., Franklin "Hank" and Dee Podbelsek of New Holland, Allan and Jean Podbelsek of Louisville, Ky; one sister, Ruth Dravis of Bloomington; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Mrs. Jacobs graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945. She worked as a fund-raiser for the Arthritis Foundation before retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Luke Union Church in Bloomington.
Adam Kamaske
Adam W. Kamaske, 85, of Bourbonnais, died Thursday (May 29, 2003) at his residence. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Cotter Funeral Home in Momence. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence. Rev. Vernon Arseneau will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. George Catholic cemetery. In lieu of memorials the family respectfully requests that those who think of him each day a little prayer to Jesus say. Mr. Kamaske was born May 9, 1918 in Chicago, the son of Albert J. and Veronica Sudol Kamaske. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary P. Byrne, whom he married
in 1977 in St. George, of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Taryn; one son, Gavin Kamaske of Bourbonnais; and one grandson, Julian Ezra Monk. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Patrick Monk; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Ellen Spillane Byrne of Dublin, Ireland. Mr. Kamaske was a member of St. George Catholic Church and had attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence. He attended DePaul University and received his associate in arts degree at Wright Jr. College. He received his bachelor of arts from the University of Illinois. He worked for the federal government serving with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Department, and the Railroad Retirement Board. In 1966, Mr. Kamaske pursued his dream of being a teacher by joining the National Teacher Corps and received his Master of Science in education from Southern Illinois University in 1968. He was a Spanish and Social Studies teacher, retiring after 19 years from Grant Park High School in 1985. He enjoyed reading and visiting the Art Institute in Chicago. Mr. Kamaske devoted his life to education and took great pride in the accomplishments of all of his students both in and out of the classroom. He loved his religion, music and his family. He was widely respected and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Nov. 14, 1941 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Chicago Heights, died Oct. 17, 2001. Surviving are one son, Robert Krueger of Chicago Heights; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Richard Turcany of Chicago Heights; one sister, Mildred Worthy of Springfield; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. One son, Larry W. Krueger, died in 1998. Mrs. Krueger was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago Heights, and formerly served on the Altar Guild.

TOLUCA -- Amanda Diane Reihl, 22, of Marseilles, formerly of Toluca and Ottawa, stepsister of a Coal City resident, died suddenly Wednesday (May 28, 2003) at her home. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Gladfelter Funeral Home in Ottawa, and from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the 10:30 a.m. service at Grace Baptist Church, 601 E. McKinley Rd. in Ottawa. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church in Toluca and attended Grace Baptist Church in Ottawa.

Three brothers and two sisters are deceased. Mrs. Rhoades was an elementary school teacher. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Watseka, and the Iroquois Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge.
