Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Knapp Miller Funeral Home in Paxton, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Jim Ecklund will officiate. Burial will be in Glen cemetery, Paxton. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Lisa Dillon of Melvin; two grandchildren; two brothers, Lorin Dillon and Marvin Dillon, both of Watseka; one sister, Valda Orwig of Kankakee; and four sisters-in-law, Naomi Dillon of Harvey, Gertrude Dillon of Kankakee, Marian Maulding of Paxton and Vi Pearson of Evansville, Ind.

Alphonzo Hyman, 87, died today (Aug. 5, 2003) at Momence Meadows Nursing Center.
Arrangements are pending at Lax Mortuary in Kankakee. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Hyman.

Rev. Tom Ewing will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke cemetery, Beecher. Memorials may be made to St. Luke Church or to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Jarmuth was a beautician. She was born May 1, 1950, in Kankakee, the daughter of Alvin and Viola Klemme Heldt. Her father died in 1982. Surviving are her husband, Douglas Jarmuth, whom she married

March 21, 1986 of Custer Park; two sons, Raymond Jones and Donald Jones; one daughter, Justine Jones of Custer Park; two grandchildren; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Geneva and Jody Minton of Clarksville, Tenn., Wanda and James Black of Southside, Tenn., Linda and Joe Nugent, and Sheila Jones, all of Wilmington. Mr. Jones retired from John Manville in Joliet, after 42 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

One brother-in-law, Pat Hamilton; an infant son, James Joseph Kirchner; one sister, Phyllis Kirchner; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Kirchner and Bonnie Kirchner; one brother, Duane Kirchner; and one infant stepson, Randy Lee Archer, are deceased. Mr. Kirchner worked for 4-K Garage and Schwan's Sales, Inc. He currently was employed at Sears Logistics in Manteno as a merchandise distributor in the receiving department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Nancy Ruth Riordan, 94, of Kankakee, died Monday (Aug. 4, 2003) at Manor Care Health Services. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the 10 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery in Kankakee. Memorials may be made to the family wishes or to Jeremiah's Teen Center. Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Riordan had worked at Kankakee State Hospital, the Bear Brand Hosiery Company and later at Marycrest Pharmacy. She was well known in this area as Pearly Mae, the hillbilly comedian on WKAN radio's "Barndance." She was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Straight Creek, Ky. She was raised by her mother and grandfather. After her mother died when she was 8 years old, she went to live with her stepfather, Raymond Sincorn in Taylorville, Ill. Her husband, Clarence "Bud" Riordan, whom she married
Nov. 30, 1933, died in 1967. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence Joseph "Joe" Jr. and Joni Riordan of Wichita, Kan., James Louis "Jim" and Debbie Riordan of Kankakee; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Merna Riordan of Bradley; lifelong friend, Nadine Drazy of Kankakee; and two nieces and two nephews. One grandson, Jeremiah Riordan, died in April of 2000. In her earlier years she had been active in the Cub Scouts and St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Kankakee. She moved to Wichita, Kan. in 1967 and then back to Kankakee in November of 2002.

April 21, 1934 in St. Louis, Mo., died March 9, 2002. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Carol Schierenbeck, Ronald and Janet Schierenbeck, all of Bradley; one sister, Ardis Horner of Bourbonnais; one brother and sister-in-law, Aaron and Sarah Gray of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Mary Frasier, is deceased. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Kankakee. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts.

Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the United Methodist Church in Coal City, where she was a member. Rev. Bob Snider will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Grand Piano Fund at the United Methodist Church in Coal City or to the Activity Fund at the Grundy County Home. Mrs. Trotter was formerly employed at Montgomery Ward Catalog in Coal City. She also was a licensed beautician. She was born Sept. 12, 1926, the daughter of Carl and Mary Wallen Johnson. June 12, 1948, in Symerton, of Coal City; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Stephen Gajcak of Joliet; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Rosella Trotter of Lockport; four grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, LaVerne "Sam" and Edythe Johnson of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Evening Star Circle. Mrs. Trotter participated in the "Ag in the Classroom" program for the Grundy County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed yard work, flower gardening and traveling.

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A funeral Mass for Darwin A. Wasmer, 86, of Plymouth Township, Mich., formerly of Gilman, was celebrated Aug. 1 at Immaculate Conception Church in Gilman. Rev. John Balluff officiated. Mr. Wasmer died July 27, 2003. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery in Gilman. Pallbearers were David Barger, Andrew Charles Wells, Mark Johnsen, Noah Wasmer, Don Prochot and Vernon Lavoie. Miracle Ervin Graveside services for Miracle Janae Ervin, infant daughter of Alexis Green and Angelo Jovonn Ervin of Kankakee, were held July 31 at Mound Grove Gardens of Memory cemetery. Rev. William H. Copeland Jr. officiated. Pallbearer was Christopher Wallace. Miracle died July 29, 2003.

Services for Flora Elizabeth Stowe, 82, of Bradley, were held Aug. 2 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Rev. Jim Williams, and Rev. Randy Robinson, Mrs. Stowe's grandson, co-officiated. Mrs. Stowe died July 31, 2003. Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Randal, Roger, Rodney and Raymond Robinson, Michael, Robert, Marshall and Ryan Grace, Rick Peters and David Knight.

Services for James D. "Jim" Cook, 70, of Kankakee were held Aug. 4 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. Richard Sagarsee officiated. Mr. Cook died July 31, 2003. Burial was in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Cheffer, Frank Durham, Robert Bushey, Robert Bushey Jr., Carron Cross and Gib Wheeler.

Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery in Kankakee. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice. Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee, is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Walter worked as a clerk at the Kankakee A&P; for over 25 years. She was born March 28, 1910, in Kankakee, the daughter of John and Ernestine Naese Walter. Surviving are one sister, Viola Tofari of Eureka, Mo.; one nephew, Michael and Mary Tofari of Eureka, Mo.; one niece, Caroline and Terry Niemann of Piper City; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. One sister, Ruby Carpenter, is deceased. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and working on sewing projects at the church.
