Jasmine Ciera Camone Alston, 13, of Kankakee, died Monday (July 28, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at Lax Mortuary and from 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 until the 10 a.m. services at the Second Baptist Church, 717 N. Wildwood, Kankakee. Rev. Tyler J. Prude, Pastor, with Bishop-Elect James E. Richards Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery. Jasmine Ciera Camone Alston was born Oct. 21, 1989, in Kankakee, the daughter of Gloria Fitch and David Alston. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior on Oct. 28, 2001, and was baptized at Grace Church Ministries International in Kankakee, under the leadership of Bishop-Elect James E. Richards Sr. She was active in Sunday School and the Youth Choir. She completed the seventh grade at Kankakee Junior High School, where she played trumpet in the school band. She enjoyed basketball, music and reading. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Gloria Fitch of Kankakee; father, David Alston of Acton, Calif.; a sister, Tamisha Fitch of Kankakee; two brothers, Dijon Fitch of Detroit, Mich., Devante Lanier of Seattle, Wash.; maternal grandmother, Shirley Collins of Kankakee; maternal grandfather, James E. Fitch of Chicago; paternal grandmother, Claudia McKinnis of Kankakee; five aunts and two uncles, Elder Velette Fitch, Janet and Kevin Richardson and Patricia Keys, all of Kankakee, Spc. Jetonne Cabrera and Sgt. Jose Cabrera of Killeen, Texas and Diane Escobedo of Los Angeles, Calif.; three uncles, Jason McKinnis and Mark Alston, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Darrell Hardy of Kankakee; great-uncle and great-aunt, Ronald Lee and Dora Hayes of Gary, Ind.; niece, Samarria Fitch; special cousins, Sparkle Richardson, Stephon Calhoun, Larue Fitch and Sammy Fitch, all of Kankakee; godparents, Nicole and LaMarr Green of Kankakee; god-grandmother, Lorraine Boulden of Kankakee; special friends, William Johnson and Tameka Saxon, both of Kankakee; and a host of other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Emil McKinnis.

PAXTON -- Sylvia Burgess, 82, of Paxton, and the mother of a Loda resident, died Wednesday (July 30, 2003) at the Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home in Paxton, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Robert Killion will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Ridge cemetery in Loda. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William W. and Julie Burgess of Paxton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Cleo Knell and Donna Hustedt, both of Paxton, Doris and Willie Wagner of Loda; and four grandsons.

ST. ANNE -- Vivian Denoyer, 82, of St. Anne, died Wednesday (July 30, 2003) at her home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home in St. Anne, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in St. Anne or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. She was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Aroma Township, the daughter of Charles J. and Elsie Bell Smith Williamson. Surviving are her husband, Raymond A. Denoyer, whom she married
June 21, 1941, in Kankakee, of St. Anne; one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Judy Denoyer of Bradley; one daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Michael White of St. Anne; one brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Waunita Williamson of Kankakee; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters are deceased. Mrs. Denoyer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. Anne and the St. Anne American Legion Auxiliary Post 842.

HENDERSON, Nev. -- Marguerite E. Evans, 81, of Henderson, Nev., and the sister of a Bradley resident, died Sunday (July 27, 2003). Her husband, Woodrow Evans, is deceased. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Dean Qualls of Henderson; one brother, Paul Kinkade of Bradley; five sisters, Dorothy Walton and Katy Spivey, both of Riverton, Kan., Della McGuire and Fran Cooper, both of Galena, Kan., Betty Moore of Ft. Smith, Ark.; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. One son, Ben Evans; two sisters, Thelma Walker and Rayma Trombley; and two brothers, Roy and Alfred Kinkade, are deceased.

GODLEY -- A memorial service for Zelpha Gwendolyn Knupp, 90, of Godley, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Main Street Baptist Church in Braidwood. Rev. George Hendricks will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. She died Tuesday (July 29, 2003) at her home. Mrs. Knupp was retired from the Winatic Coil Factory in Endicott, N.Y. She was born April 1, 1913, in North Sanford, N.Y., the daughter of Ernest and Alice Cassidy Greenough. Her husbands were Wallace J. Fye, who died Jan. 18, 1968; and George O. Knupp, who died Feb. 1, 1993. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Wallace E. and Dawn Fye of Endicott, N.Y.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Robert Tovey of Godley; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Rice of Orville, Ohio; special friend and niece, Brenda Whitley; and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Howard, Ellsworth and Donald Greenough; and three sisters, Gladys Seamans, Pauline Mother and Gloria Bleecher, are deceased. Mrs. Knupp was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church in Braidwood where she served as organist. She was an accomplished organist/pianist.

Mr. Mitchell owned and operated Mitchell Real Estate and Insurance Co. in Gibson City since 1988. He was born Oct. 24, 1942, in Chicago, the son of James Patrick and Margaret Mary McMahon Mitchell. Visitation for Demetra "Dee" Neckopulos, 66, of Bourbonnais, will be from noon Friday until the 2 p.m. services at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Rev. Lance Hurley will officiate. She died Tuesday (July 29, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, after a short illness. Mrs. Neckopulos operated a licensed daycare center in her home for 16 years. She was born Aug. 22, 1936, in Chicago Heights, the daughter of Emanuel and Marie Mauer Raysakis. Her parents are deceased. Her husband, Arthur Neckopulos, died April 28, 1989. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Neckopulos of Watseka, Thomas and Karen Neckopulos of Crystal Lake, Christopher and Andrea Neckopulos of Cary; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jodi and Rodney Latham, Nanette and Harold Tooper, all of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Salvator Pace of Elk Grove Village; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Kiki Raysaki of Cary; and eight grandchildren. One sister, Evon Ramos, is deceased. She enjoyed cooking and baking.

Harold O'Lena Aug. 25, 1951. He died Sept. 21, 1970. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry and Brenda Bertrand of Kankakee, Martin and Jacquelyn O'Lena of Manteno, Ernest and Carol O'Lena of Papineau; one daughter, Linda Seabaugh of Bourbonnais; two sisters, Lucille Schaafsma of St. Anne, Opal Ohrt of Kankakee; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. One son-in-law, Charles Seabaugh; one great-granddaughter, Taylor; and one sister, Vida Hoekstra, are deceased. She enjoyed crafts, flower gardening and fishing.

Nov. 30, 1940, in Cicero, of Kankakee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Laura Rockis of Black Duck, Minn., Gary and Toni Rockis of Morris; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One brother, Michael Rockis, is deceased. Mr. Rockis was a volunteer for 18 years at Catholic Charities and had also been a volunteer at Bishop McNamara High School. He loved to tell stories and travel.

He was born May 23, 1909, in Indianola, Miss., the son of Gentry and Betty Brownlee Shegog. His wife, Vadie Meadows Shegog, is deceased. Surviving are seven sons and two daughters-in-law, Dudley Shegog Jr. of Sun River Terrace, Walter and Betty Shegog of Tennessee, Roosevelt Shegog of Sun River Terrace, Clarence and Brenda Shegog of Arkansas, Tom Dudley Shegog of Chicago, Scipio Shegog of Sun River Terrace, Ronald Shegog of Ypsilanti, Mich.; eight daughters and three sons-in-law, Tearine and Thomas O'Brien of Sun River Terrace, Vada and Israel Guevara of Houston, Texas, Betty Shegog of Chicago, Henri M. and Elder Robert E. Services for Donald Ditterline, 70, of Kankakee, were held July 15 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. John Franklin officiated. Mr. Ditterline died July 12, 2003. Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Anderson, Elmer Saathoff, Terry Heinze Sr., Ed Matherly, Tim Smith and Dave Buhrmester.

MANTENO -- Services for Ellene L. Durkin, 63, of Manteno, were held July 29 at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Manteno. Rev. Edward Grotovsky officiated. Mrs. Durkin died July 25, 2003. A funeral Mass for Rose A. Hayes, 85, of Bradley, was celebrated July 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Rev. William Dewaan and Deacon Leon Fritz officiated. Mrs. Hayes died July 26, 2003. Burial was in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Joel, Mark and Craig Hayes, Justin and Liz Polach and David and Amanda Schultz.
