CHEBANSE -- Services for William "Bill" F. Classen, 75, of Chebanse, were held June 30 at the United Church of Christ in Chebanse. Mr. Classen died June 25, 2003. Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Russel, Gary, Merlin, Jody, Paul and Charlie Tjarks. Honorary pallbearers were Donald, Merlyn, Kenneth Tjarks and Frank Potchebski. Delbert Erickson Services for Delbert E. Erickson, 68, of Bourbonnais, were held June 30 at the College Church of the Nazarene, Bourbonnais. John Bowling and Rev. Dan Boone officiated. Mr. Erickson died June 27, 2003. Pallbearers were Delbert, Scott, Tracey, Eric, and Glane Erickson and Tom Dubree.

Lillian Valvoda, 75, of Kankakee, died Friday (June 27, 2003) in the emergency room at Riverside Medical Center. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the 10 a.m. services at Fitzpatrick Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Homewood Memorial cemetery. She was born July 21, 1928, in Chicago, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Josef Valvoda. One brother, Edward, is deceased.

Edna Chouinard
Edna H. Chouinard, 87, of Kankakee, died Saturday (June 28, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to Provena St. Mary's Hospital. Mrs. Chouinard worked in the dietary department at Provena St. Mary's Hospital for many years. She was born July 12, 1915, in Chicago, the daughter of Fredrick and Clara Dahlke. Her husband, Marc Chouinard, whom she married
Sept. 18, 1948, in Kankakee, died April 15, 1998. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Diane Chouinard of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jay Christensen of O'Fallon, Mo.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Bill Schmidt of Anaheim, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Fern Dahlke of Chicago; and four grandchildren. Two brothers, Harold and Ray Dahlke, are deceased. She was active in many church activities.

Leonard Dauphin, 70, of Kankakee, died Saturday (June 28, 2003) at the Kankakee Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after an extended illness. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Burial will be in Maternity BVM cemetery in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. Mr. Dauphin was retired from Kankakee Roper. He was born Aug. 24, 1932, in Kankakee, the son of Albert and Agnes Bisallion. Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Inez and Henry St. Aubin of Bourbonnais; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. One brother, Lionel Dauphin; and four sisters, Esther Eckert, Cecile Krizan, Bernice Regnier and Rita Regnier, are deceased. He enjoyed traveling.

PONTIAC -- Harold L. Dehm, 82, of Pontiac, formerly of Saunemin, died Friday (June 27, 2003) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Revs. William Shields and Dieter Punt will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyslope cemetery in Saunemin. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Pontiac, or to the donor's choice. Mr. Dehm was retired from the Pontiac Chair Co. He was later employed at Burke Service-Pontiac and was currently driving for the Daily Leader in Pontiac. He was born Jan. 30, 1921, the son of George and Marie Richter Dehm. Oct. 30, 1953, in Cullom, died Nov. 25, 1997. Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy and Jim Plaisance of Slidell, La., Margie Dehm of Suffolk, Va.; one brother, Arnold Dehm of Ravenswood, W.Va.; three sisters, Evelyn Sewell and Shirley Paternoster, both of Pontiac and Ruth Hoge of Wenona. One brother is deceased. He was educated in Saunemin schools. Mr. Dehm was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Pontiac, and enjoyed gardening.

Visitation for William "Bill" A. DuFour, 79, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel and from 9 a.m. Thursday until the 10 a.m. services at Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. Martin R. Gutzmer will officiate. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. He died Saturday (June 28, 2003) at his home. Mr. DuFour was a retired meat cutter at Jewel Food Stores with over 40 years of service. Nov. 18, 1977 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Kankakee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Becky DuFour of Moneta, Va., William Jr. and Jill DuFour of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and Kenneth Robinson of Herscher, Denise and Steven Kimes of Roseville, Calif.; one stepson, Warren Lewis of Kankakee; two stepdaughters, Sondra Bertrand of Duluth, Ga., Kendra Appleberry of Corona, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Helen DuFour of Chicago, Roy and Vicky DuFour of Dowagiac, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, Chad and Krissy DuFour, Matthew DuFour, Jessica and Pete Christie, Joshua Robinson, Sarah Robinson, Brandon DuFour, Austin Kimes, Spencer Kimes, Stephanie Bertrand, Christopher Bertrand, Nicholas Appleberry, Jonathan Appleberry, Christian Appleberry, Zachary Lewis, Madelene Lewis and Andrew Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Alex DuFour and Blain Christie; his first wife, Colleen VanNess of Green Valley, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Evelyn DuFour; and many nieces and nephews. Four sisters and one brother are deceased. Mr. DuFour served in the U.S. Army from 1943-46 during World War II in the China-Burma-India theater and was a member of the 259th Quartermaster Railhead Co. He drove the Burma Road from Calcutta, India to Kung Ming, China, several times. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church. Bill had a love of horses. He trained horses and riders, hunters and jumpers. He enjoyed dancing, storytelling, jokes and birdwatching. He loved to tell of his unusual adventures during the war.

HIDALGO -- Ona Pearl Martin, 84, of Hidalgo, and the mother of a Kankakee resident, died Saturday (June 28, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Barkley Funeral Home, 300 N. Kentucky, Greenup, Ill. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Fellowship Church, Hidalgo. Burial will be in Westlawn cemetery, Newton. Survivors include her daughter, Dixie McCall of Kankakee.

Services for Theorable Byrd, 47, of Kankakee, were held June 28 at the Greater New Hope Church. Rev. Howard L. Wills Sr. officiated. Mr. Byrd died June 21, 2003. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Willie Byrd Jr., Louis Melton, Timothy Dee, David Byrd, Allen Hawkins, Tony Nethery and Harry Lain. CHEBANSE -- Services for Dorothy F. Brinkman, 89, of Chebanse, formerly of Cullom, were held June 28 at the United Methodist Church of Cullom. Rev. Herb Thompson officiated. Mrs. Brinkman died June 26, 2003. Burial was in Westlawn cemetery in Cullom. Pallbearers were Charles Donley, Elson Shuck, Brett Butler, Chris Shuck, Bruce Butler and Keith Shambrook.

CISSNA PARK -- Services for Stacy Louise Cluver, 28, of Cissna Park, were held June 28 at the Grace Bible Church, Kellart Lake, Cissna Park. Rev. Bud Pederson officiated. Miss Cluver died June 25, 2003. Burial was in the Cissna Park cemetery. Pallbearers were Ralph Walder, Delbert Street, Dan Zbinden, Albert Kaufman Jr., Loren Bauer and Glen Berg. Honorary pallbearer was Steve Kaufman.

A funeral Mass for May L. LeDuke, 83, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated June 30 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Tremonti officiated. Mrs. LeDuke died June 27, 2003. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg Blaney, Jeff Linnabary, Michael Westfall, Douglas Krippel, Michael Lardi and Tim Horrie.

MANHATTAN -- Emmett T. Quigley, 88, of Manhattan, died Saturday (June 28, 2003) at his home. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at the Forsythe Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 127 S. Briggs St., Joliet, where he was a member. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Wilmington. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Church or to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Quigley farmed in the Symerton area for many years until moving to Joliet. He then drove an oil delivery truck for many years for Carneghi and retired from the maintenance department at Joliet Junior College. He was born in Symerton, the son of Joseph and Loretta Keigher Quigley. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Veronica (Deany) Quigley; two daughters and one son-in-law, Joyce Quigley of Manhattan, Alice and David Sylvester of Shorewood; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel and Francine Quigley, David and Mary Quigley and Kevin Quigley, all of Joliet; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathleen Kinsella of Wilton Center; one brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Terese Quigley of Joliet; four sisters-in-law, Josephine Merten of Kankakee, Mary (William) Elliot of Chebanse, Clara Kinkade of Bourbonnais and Kathleen Deany of Chicago; two brothers-in-law, Donald (Anne) Deany of Piper City, Michael (Marjorie) Deany of Franklin Park; and many nieces and nephews. One grandson, Keith Quigley, is deceased. Mr. Quigley was an usher at St. Mary Magdalene and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Senior Citizen Bowling League.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home, St. Anne, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Aroma Park cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Aroma Park American Legion. Mr. Sossoman was a retired Metropolitan Life Insurance agent. He was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Rochester, Minn., the son of John and Marjorie L. Hodge Sossoman. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, John Wesley and Cindy Sossoman of Topeka, Kan.; one daughter, Wanda L. Byarley of Bourbonnais; three sisters, Sarah Frizzell of Aroma Park, Hazel Shreffler of Bourbonnais, Beulah Miller of Bradley; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Ruth Pernula of New York Mills, Minn. One sister, Anna Frizzell; one son-in-law, Phil Byarley; and four grandchildren, are deceased. Mr. Sossoman served in the U.S. Army Engineers during World War II in the Phillipines and Japan. He was a member of the VFW in New York Mills, Minn., where he was a former district commander and past officer; and a member of the Aroma Park American Legion. He was also a member of the Aroma Park Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing.
