BRAIDWOOD -- Visitation for Jamie Joseph Jones, 30, of Braidwood, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home, Braidwood Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Steve Bondi will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery, Kankakee.
He died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) in Essex.
Mr. Jones was formerly employed at Personal Products in Wilmington.
He was born Feb. 20, 1972, in Kankakee.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mary (Hertz) and Harvie Mills of Braidwood; one brother, Joey Rivera of Braidwood; one stepbrother, Andrew Mills of Essex; two stepsisters, Lisa Mills of Chicago, Rebecca and Kyle McCord of Bradley; maternal grandmother, Nina Hertz of Bonfield; and aunts and uncles.
Mr. Jones was educated at Reed Custer High School in Braidwood and was currently attending the Universal Technical Institute in Glendale studying to be an auto technician.
He enjoyed working on cars.

MOMENCE -- Visitation for Naomi "Pat" Jepsen Long, 74, of Peculiar, Mo., formerly of Momence, will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the Cotter Funeral Home, Momence, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Harry Schmidt will officiate.

She died Thursday (Aug. 15, 2002) in Peculiar, Mo.
Mrs. Long owned and operated Sonny's Tap in Momence for many years and had worked at Manteno Laundry and Maplecrest Manor in Manteno.
She was born Nov. 3, 1927, the daughter of Ross and Hazel Gaffney.
Her husband, Sonny Jepsen, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jamie Jepsen of Peculiar, Mo., Barry and Vickie Jepsen of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Paul Raper of Lewisville, Texas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Alice Marlin
Alice Marlin, 60, of Kankakee, died Monday (Aug. 19, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Arrangements are pending at the Cotter Funeral Home, Momence.
Velma McGahan
BROOK, Ind. -- Velma I. McGahan, 89, of Brook, Ind., formerly of Lake Village and Kempton, died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002).
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, Ind., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. DuWayne Hintz will officiate.
Burial will be in West Lawn cemetery, Cullom.
Memorials may be made to the Lake Village Library or to the Jasper County Hospice in Rensselaer, Ind.
Mrs. McGahan worked as a nurse's aide for 17 years and retired in 1984.
Her husband, Fred McGahan, whom she married
Oct. 12, 1935, died June 20, 1963.
She was born March 6, 1913, in Kempton, the daughter of George and Flora Telford.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and four sisters are deceased.
Mrs. McGahan was a member of the Lake Village Presbyterian Church, the Lake Village Grange and Royal Neighbors of America.
James Murray
WILMINGTON -- James J.V. Murray, 71, of Wilmington, died Thursday (Aug. 15, 2002).
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakwood cemetery, Wilmington.
Freitag Funeral Home, Wilmington, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Murray was a former employee of Midewin Prairie of Wilmington. He was also a driver for IGA Foods and a security guard in Chicago.
He was born June 9, 1932, in Highland Park, Mich., the son of James J. and Hinemoa Sloan Murray.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Woolever; several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Marlene Chavel of Chicago.
He was a former member of the Braidwood Lions Club and a charter member of the Chicago Disabled American Veterans Club.
Mr. Murray helped on the Christmas tree fund-raiser and Adopt-A-Highway with the Illinois Department of Transportation program.
Robert Nelsen,

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Robert John Nelsen, 56, of Savannah, Ga., formerly of Kankakee, died Wednesday (Aug. 7, 2002) at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
A memorial service was held Aug. 10 at the Chapel of St. John's Episcopal Church. Rev. Michael Carreker officiated.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Nelsen was director of finance for GHP/Pro-Health.
Surviving are his wife, Linda P. Nelsen of Savannah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Brendhan O'Bryan of Massachusetts, Christine and Timothy Ryan of New York; his father, Ralph D. Nelsen of Florida; one sister, Marjorie Free of Mississippi; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Sara Nelsen of Pennsylvania; father-in-law, Robert H. Pearson of Massachusetts; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and James Staulcup of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews; and grand-nieces and grand-nephew.
His mother, Jeannette H. Nelsen, is deceased.
He was born in Englewood, N.J. and moved to Savannah in 1995 from Millis, Mass.
Mr. Nelsen lived in the Kankakee area from 1975-78 and was employed at Connecticut General Insurance Co.
He was past president of the Southbridge Men's Golf Association and enjoyed playing bridge.
Laura Reynolds
Visitation for Laura E. Reynolds, 92, of Metropolis, formerly of Kankakee, will be from 11 a.m. Thursday until the noon services at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee. Rev. Edward Hedding will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.

She died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Metropolis.
Mrs. Reynolds retired from Kankakee State Hospital after 23 years of service.
She was born June 10, 1910, in Brookport, the daughter of Jesse and Daisy Sidener Sisk.
Her husband, Nelson Reynolds, whom she married
Aug. 4, 1928, in Metropolis, is deceased.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Gayle Reynolds of Brookport; one sister, Lydia Horton of Granite City; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Two sisters and four brothers are deceased.
Mrs. Reynolds was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Kankakee.
Laverne Rahn
HOLLAND, Mich. -- Services for Laverne William Rahn, 65, of Holland, Mich., formerly of Chebanse, were held Aug. 19 at the Danforth Reformed Church. Revs. William Boersma and Donald J. MacDonald III officiated.
Mr. Rahn died Aug. 15, 2002.
Burial was in the Danforth cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny, Randy and Scott Dummer, Allen Hartman and Eric and Lee Rahn. Honorary pallbearers were Guy Cunningham, John Dummer and Lester "Whitey" Overright.

Visitation for Maria Harris Walthers, 37, of Bourbonnais, will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Donna Wagner will officiate.
Burial will be in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais.

She died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center emergency room.
Mrs. Walthers was employed at the Kmart Distribution Center in Manteno.
She was born Dec. 12, 1964, in Kankakee, the daughter of Robert and Shirley Williams Harris. Her father died Dec. 25, 2000.
Surviving are her husband, Richard L. Walthers, whom she married
Aug. 19, 1995, in Bradley; her mother of Bourbonnais; two stepsons, Michael Hatch-Walthers and Jeremy Hatch-Walthers, both of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Rich Riley of Bourbonnais; and paternal grandmother, Maxine Dugan Harris of Kankakee.
She was a graduate of Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School.
Mrs. Walthers enjoyed going to garage sales, Beach Boy music and collecting Garfield items and earrings.
Delores Wilsey

BLOOMINGTON -- Delores Jean Wilsey, 44, of rural Bloomington, the sister of area residents, died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. Wednesday until the 7 p.m. services at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. Rev. Mike Cooper will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Rooks Creek cemetery, Livingston County.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for her daughters.
Ms. Wilsey was a licensed practical nurse for Dr. Ashvin K. Patel, Normal.
She was born March 24, 1958, in Bloomington, the daughter of Charles E. and Viola Marie Rapp. Her parents are deceased.

Douglas E. Wilsey Dec. 13, 1985 in Meadows.
Surviving are two daughters, Bethany Christine Wilsey and Jill Anne Wilsey, both at home; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janice and Dale Sanders of Coal City, Charlene Cooper of Chenoa; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary E. and Sharon Cooper of Fairbury, Frederick C. and Janet Cooper of Wilmington, Richard A. and Barb Cooper of Chenoa and Burle and Cindy Cooper of Lockport.
She was a graduate of Bloomington School of Nursing.
