GILMAN -- Larry Wilson, 63, of Gilman, formerly of LeRoy, died Saturday (Aug. 17, 2002) at his home.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service at the Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in LeRoy.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Downs. Rev. John Balluff will officiate.
Burial will be in the Prairie Dell cemetery, rural Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Knights of Columbus or to the donor's choice.
Mr. Wilson was a bridge inspector and a member of the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers.
He was born June 24, 1939, in Flora, the son of Lester C. and Kathryn L. Armstrong Wilson. His mother is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Patricia Stoerger, whom he married
Aug. 20, 1966, in Ivesdale, of LeRoy; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deanna Wilson of Kankakee, Mary and Bob Varboncouer of Beaverville, Kimberly and James Lei of London, England; his father of LeRoy; one grandchild; two brothers, James Wilson of LeRoy, William Wilson of Panama City, Fla.; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Ben Peyton of Mason, Mich., Susan and Kent Craner of LeRoy, Carol and Don Jenkins of Peoria, Tina and David Meadows of LeRoy; and special friend Mary Jo Shear of Gilman.
He was a 1957 graduate of LeRoy High School and attended the University of Illinois technician trainee course for IDOT.
Mr. Wilson was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Theresa of Avila Council 4391 of Watseka and Immaculate Conception Church.
Mary Diffy,
former school bus driver
Mary Diffy, 73, of Bradley, formerly of Peotone, died today (Aug. 19, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Jim Williams will officiate.
Burial will be Peotone cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Jackson, Jason and Jeremy Haden, Jarrod Serra and Erich Lindemann.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
Mrs. Diffy was a school bus driver for Warning Charter Service for 20 years.
She was born Feb. 11, 1929, in Empire, Ala., the daughter of George W. and Etta Owens Capps.
Her husband, Virgil Diffy, whom she married
June 21, 1947, in Alabama, died in 1980.
Surviving are five daughters and four sons-in-law, Charlotte and French Cline of Filmore, Ind., Debbie Rice of Bradley, Laura and Daniel Serra, Connie and Keith Nelson, all of Manteno, Kim and David Lindemann of Bourbonnais; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers; three sisters; and one son-in-law, Bobby G. Markle, who died in 1993.
She was a member of Bradley Evangelical United Methodist Church.
Grace Eby,

Visitation for Grace E. Eby, 89, of the Eastern Star Home, Macon, formerly of Bradley, will be from 5-8 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. Eastern Star service at the Bradley Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Tom Wilber will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
She died Friday (Aug. 16, 2002) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Eby was a retired psychiatric specialist at Shapiro Developmental Center.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bradley. She also was a member of the Eastern Star in Kankakee, charter member of the East Side Grade School PTA of Bradley, the Bradley VFW, AFSCME Retirees Chapter 57 of Kankakee, the Shrine Auxiliary of Westchester and the Kankakee Area Ladies Oriental Shrine.
She served as president of the Mothers of World War II in Bradley and the State of Illinois.
She was born May 9, 1913, in Kankakee County, the daughter of Ward T. and Mabel Kennell Mills.
Her husband, Woodrow Wilson Eby, whom she married
Dec. 24, 1934, in Kankakee, died Sept. 28, 1998.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Phillip and Mary Lee Eby of Leicester, S.C., John Eby of Joliet; three daughters and one son-in-law, Ruth and William F. Osterloh of Houston, Texas, Diana Williams of Brea, Calif., Mary Eby of Kankakee; one sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Earl McLargin of Santa Monica, Calif.; one brother, Gilbert Mills of Kankakee; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Paul James Eby and David Eby; two brothers, Ward and George Mills; and one sister, Katherin Lowary, are deceased.
Robert Hotaling,
farmer, volunteer fireman
CRESCENT CITY -- Robert H. Hotaling, 84, of Crescent City, died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) at his home.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Crescent City. Rev. Harold Grafe will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery, Crescent City.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the Crescent City EMT's.
Mr. Hotaling farmed in the Watseka area from 1942-1980. He was a janitor at the Crescent City Grade School for nine years and worked several years at Texize in Kankakee. He was also a volunteer fireman for several years.
He was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Gilman, the son of Warren Albert and Martha Lubben Hotaling.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred Virginia Clement, whom he married
June 16, 1940, at the Friends Church, in Watseka, of Crescent City; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Peggy Tammen of Gilman, Mary Ann and Lowell Cluver of Watseka, Janet and BJ Morris of Gilman; one son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Kelley Hotaling of Watseka; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen and Stan Dorsey of Crescent City, Evelyn "Babe" and Herb Donisch of Arlington Heights; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One son-in-law, Kenny Schaumburg, is deceased.
He was a graduate of Gilman High School.
Mr. Hotaling was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Crescent City, where he served on the council, as an usher and in Brotherhood.
He was an active baseball and softball player until he was in his 40s. He was a White Sox fan.

BRAIDWOOD -- Jamie Joseph Jones, 30, of Braidwood, died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) in Essex.

Howard Hartsock
A funeral Mass for Howard L. Hartsock, 62, of Country Club Hills, and the father of area residents, was celebrated Aug. 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno. Rev. Edward Grotovsky officiated.
Mr. Hartsock died Aug. 12, 2002.
Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery, Manteno. Pallbearers were James Riegle, Brad and Jeff Difiore, David and Darren Herkert, Rich Santilli and Bob Lowey.
Glenn Reutter,
businessman, military retiree
CISSNA PARK -- Glenn E. Reutter, 67, of Milford, died Saturday (Aug. 17, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Milford, where he was a member. Revs. Mark Lohnes and Don Stuckwisch will officiate.
Burial, with graveside military rites by the Cissna Park American Legion, will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Milford.
Memorials may be made to the Maple Grove cemetery Association or to the donor's choice.
Mr. Reutter owned and operated the Park Bowl in Cissna Park, a family business established by his parents. He was also part-owner and operator of the Mill-Ford Car Wash, Plaza Car Wash, Hoopeston Car Wash and the Rochelle Car Wash.
He was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Cissna Park, the son of Earl and Martha Jacob Reutter. His father is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gloria Morr, whom he married
June 27, 1954, in Milford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn II and Marlene Reutter of Onarga, Henry and Anita Reutter of Hoopeston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Jim Bauer, Sarah and Guy Winger, all of Cissna Park; his mother of Cissna Park; one sister, Cookie Hall of VanAllstyne, Texas; eight grandchildren; and three nieces.
One sister, Twylla Mae "Toots" Brucker; and one granddaughter, Laura Elaine Reutter, are deceased.
He attended Cissna Park School and was a 1952 graduate of Melvin-Sibley school. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years of service as an air traffic controller. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was a member of the Cissna Park American Legion Post 527 and served on the Milford cemetery Association Board.

Laura E. Reynolds, 92, of Metropolis, formerly of Kankakee, died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Metropolis.

MOUNT PROSPECT -- Shelly Ann Morgan Snyder, 36, of Mount Prospect, formerly of Mokena, and the relative of area residents, died Saturday (Aug. 17, 2002) in Wilmington.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reeves Funeral Home, Wilmington.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Rev. Frank Vitus and Deacon Donald Dyer will officiate.
Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery, Justice.
Ms. Snyder was employed by Genax Insurance in Schaumburg.
She was born Oct. 13, 1965 in Chicago.
Surviving are two children, Patrick and Courtney; her mother and stepfather, Lonnie and John Salrin of Indiana; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Morgan of Manteno, Mike and Geri Morgan of Symerton; two stepbrothers, Randy Salrin of Wilmington, Glen and Kathy Salrin of Manteno; two nephews and three nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her grandparents, Joe and Jean Sardak, are deceased.

Maria A. Walthers, 37, of Bourbonnais, died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.

GODLEY -- Helen Horky, 73, of Godley, formerly of Cicero, died Wednesday (Aug. 14, 2002) at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.
Private services will be held at the Freitag Funeral Home, Wilmington.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
She was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Chicago, the daughter of Robert and Jessie Powell Mourning.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Leonard Horky; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Joe Dutra of Rhode Island; four grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, John and Jackie Mourning of Arizona.
