Walter Glogowski

MANTENO -- Walter C. Glogowski, 82, of Manteno, formerly of Harvey, died Thursday (Aug. 22, 2002) at his home.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Sunday until the 7 p.m. services at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Manteno. Rev. Ed Grotovsky will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
Mr. Glogowski was a building and grounds superintendent for So. Holland School District 205, retiring in 1983.
He was born Jan. 3, 1920, in Harvey, the son of Frank and Josephine Kwiatkowski Glogowski.
Surviving are his wife, the former Freida Mangold, whom he married April 22, 1939, in So. Holland; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Frank and Carol Glogowski of Oak Forest, Mike and Sandi Glogowski of Largo, Fla., Danny Glogowski of Tinley Park; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Pat and James Tyler of Manteno, Fran and Paul Talaga of Pinellas Park, Fla., Barbara Saturnus of Jacksonville, Fla., Darice and Jeff Szurkowski of So. Holland; two sisters, Ann Marek of Indianapolis, Ind., Mary Marvin of Chicago; one brother, Frank Glogowski of Claremount, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
One sister, Stella Holt; three brothers, Ed, Matt and Irve Glogowski; one son, Aaron Glogowski; and three grandsons, Jimmy Tyler, Rick Glogowski and Douglas Saturnus are deceased.
Mr. Glogowski was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno.

Sophia Gulley

Sophia G. Gulley, 78, of Kankakee, formerly of Mulkeytown, died Wednesday (Aug. 21, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
There will be no visitation. Friends are asked to meet at the church.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Christopher, where she was a member.
Gilbert Funeral Home, Christopher, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gulley had been a seamstress.
She was born July 1, 1924, the daughter of Felix and Anna Linkus Bruzas.
Her husband, Guy Carl Gulley, is deceased.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Alvin Kirkpatrick; four grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Theodore Bruzas of Indianapolis, Ind.
One daughter, Shirley; and four brothers, Bruno, Anthony, Felix and Willie, are deceased.

Timothy Hubbs

WILLIAMSPORT, Ind. -- Visitation for Timothy B. Hubbs, 44, of Williamsport, Ind., formerly of New Lenox, will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. today at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, Cedar at Francis Road, New Lenox. He will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at Faith Fellowship Church, New Lenox. Revs. Kyle Cates and Mike Westcomb will officiate.
Interment will be in Manhattan Center cemetery, Manhattan, Ill.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Mr. Hubbs died Monday (Aug. 19, 2002) at St. Vincent Hospital, Williamsport, after a sudden illness.
He was born in Newark, N.J. the son of Rondy and Catherine Woods Hubbs. His parents are deceased.
Mr. Hubbs and his wife were the former owners of TnT Automotive Specialists in Kankakee. He was employed by Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a yardmaster for 15 years. He was a member of UTU Local 1895.
Surviving are his loving wife of 28 years, Trish E. (Cante) Hubbs; two sons, Kevin Hubbs, Kris (Rebekah Moy) Hubbs; two grandsons, Tyler Reece and Dylan Rondy Timothy. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles Hubbs and Daniel Hubbs; three sisters, Bridgette Borello, Tricia (John) Price, Catherine (John) Maples; two stepsisters, Pamela (Gary) Bishop and Sharon Smith; one aunt, Beulah (Rev. Kyle) Cates; and several nieces and nephews; and his stepmother, Bobbie Hubbs.
His grandparents; an uncle and stepmother, Shirley Hubbs, are deceased.
He lived in New Lenox for 22 1/2 years, moving to Williamsport 1 1/2 years ago.
Mr. Hubbs was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Danville and was an avid race fan.

Edwin Wagner

HAMPTON, Va. -- Edwin A. Wagner, 59, of Hampton, Va., formerly of Kankakee, died Thursday (Aug. 22, 2002) in Hampton.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
He was born Nov. 27, 1942, in Kankakee, the son of Arthur and Caroline Voigt Wagner. His father is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, Linda of Hampton, Va.; one daughter, Rhonda Wagner and her fiance, Paul Zaramowicz of Hampton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ed "Duke" and Kelly Wagner and Kent Wagner, all of Hampton; his mother of St. Anne; four grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Stewart and Mary Wagner of Bourbonnais.
One son, Anthony Scott, is deceased.

A. Dale Asher,
WWII vet

Visitation for A. Dale Asher, 90, of Kankakee, will be from 11 a.m. Friday until the 1 p.m. services at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee. Rev. Michael Sparks will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded by Hertz-Thoma Crematory.
Burial of cremains will be in the Limestone Township cemetery.
He died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Mr. Asher retired in 1977 from DTL Trucking as a truck driver.
He was born March 30, 1912, in Limestone Township, the son of Charles and Annabell Jay Asher.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lavon A. Dunn, whom he married Oct. 9, 1937, in Kankakee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis D. and Donna Asher of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Lyle W. and Roberta Asher of Bradley; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Jean and Ron Redlich of Joliet; one sister-in-law, Loreena Asher of Limestone Township; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Orville, Lyle and Warren, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Asher was a member of the Limestone Church of the Nazarene and the Lions Club.
He enjoyed comedy movies and shows, motorcycles and working on cars.

Gladys Benfield,
secretary at Riverside

Gladys Rebecca Benfield, 71, of Kankakee, died today (Aug. 22, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gospel Assembly Church, Bourbonnais, where she was a member. Rev. Steven Wilkenson will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Gospel Assembly Church.
Miss Benfield was the unit secretary for 21 years at Riverside Medical Center, retiring in January of 1993.
She was born Dec. 23, 1930, in Gordonville, Mo., the daughter of Elmer E. and Mabel M. Surface Benfield who founded Gospel Assembly Church, Bourbonnais.
Surviving are one sister, Juanita Marjean Benfield of Kankakee; one brother and sister-in-law, Cletus and Jamie Benfield of Jackson, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
One sister, Elizabeth Benfield; and one brother Clyde Benfield, are deceased.
Miss Benfield enjoyed ceramics and making porcelain dolls.

Donald Beyer

DWIGHT -- Donald Beyer, 77, of Dwight, died Wednesday (Aug. 21, 2002) at his home.
Arrangements are pending at the Hager Memorial Home, Dwight.

Lorraine Gaydos

PEOTONE -- Lorraine M. Gaydos, 77, of Peotone, died Wednesday (Aug. 21, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 3721 W. 62nd St., Chicago.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum, Justice.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research or to the American Cancer Society.
She was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Chicago, the daughter of Steve and MaryAnn Warzynski.
Her husband, Andrew Gaydos, whom she married May 26, 1946, in Chicago, died Oct. 14, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy Zoarski of Peotone, Sandra and Joseph Sichelski of Custer Park; and one grandson, Robert and Tricia Zoarski of Kankakee.
Mrs. Gaydos was a member of the Tabernacle Guild of Sts. Cyrl and Methodies Church, Chicago.

Timothy Hubbs

CISSNA PARK -- Visitation for Kevin W. Jacob, 44, of Cissna Park, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Knapp Funeral Home, Cissna Park.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Bible Church, Cissna Park. Rev. Bud Pederson will officiate.
Burial will be in Cissna Park cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Pure Life Ministries, Florence, Ky.
He died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 2002) near Chenoa from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Jacob was employed by Ravens Farm.
He was born Aug. 3, 1958, in Danville, the son of Wayne and Doris Hodel Jacob.
Surviving besides his parents of Cissna Park are one son, Matthew Cluver of Charleston, S.C.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and JJ Schramm of Palmdale, Calif., Vickie and Dan Craig of Columbus, Ohio, Janel and Matthew Deck of Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Terri Jacob of Ottawa, Todd and Lynne Jacob of Edmonds, Wash.; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jacob enjoyed softball, golf and antiques.
