Omar Gathing
Omar Billy Gathing, 34, the son of a St. Anne resident, died Sunday (Aug. 25, 2002) at Prairie Village in Jacksonville, after a long illness.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
He was born Oct. 30, 1967, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Sam W. Gathing Jr. and Clanna B. Gathing Wright.
Surviving, besides his mother of St. Anne, are two brothers, Brian K. Williams of Milwaukee, Wis., Paul E. Wright III of St. Anne; and one sister, Stacey P. Wiliams of Alexandria, Va.
He loved listening to music.

WATSEKA -- Visitation for Jerry H. Laurent, 61, of Watseka, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services at the First United Methodist Church in Watseka, where he was a member. Dr. Joe Scheets will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Watseka.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice, Watseka Lions Club or to the Unit 9 Academic Foundation.
He died Monday (Aug. 26, 2002) at his residence.
Mr. Laurent was a sales representative for Morton Buildings Inc. for 10 years.
He was born March 14, 1941, in St. Anne, the son of Harvey and Anita Marquis Laurent. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Janet S. Hanen, whom he married
Jan. 30, 1971, in Watseka; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Montes of Plano, Texas, Sarah and Jamie Sailors of Platteville, Wis., Amy and Matt Wilkins of Watseka; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Janet and Mel Koester of Watseka, Sharon Hess of Buckley, Sue and Bob Seggebruch of Watseka, Cheryle Laurent of Woodland, Carol and Marty Lareau of Beaverville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mildred Simmons of Watseka; and seven grandchildren, Sadie Laurent, Hannah and Kaleb Wilkins, Emma and Samuel Montes and Madisen and Brooks Sailors.
One brother, Donald Laurent, is deceased.
Mr. Laurent was a past district director and member and past president of the Watseka Lions Club; Unit 9 School Board member for nine years; and past district director and past president of the Watseka Jaycees.

PEORIA -- Matthew Obergfel, 87, of Peoria, formerly of Cissna Park, died today (Aug. 27, 2002) at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Wilton Mortuary, Peoria.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Apostolic Christian Church in Peoria.

WATSEKA -- Mae Price, 99, of Watseka, died Monday (Aug. 26, 2002) at Magnolia Wood Health Care.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services at the Baier Funeral Home, Watseka.
Burial will be in Body cemetery, Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
She was born Jan. 28, 1903, in Huron, Ind., the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Beck White.
Her husband, Murl Franklin Price, whom she married
Sept. 20, 1926, in Onarga, is deceased.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Helen Bottorff of Crescent City, Glenn and JoAnn Price of Clearwater, Fla., Ronald and Jean Price of Watseka; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Red Eskridge of Hammond, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
One son, Elvin Price; two sisters; five brothers; and one grandson, are deceased.
Mrs. Price enjoyed flowers and bird watching.
Daniel Robisky
ODELL -- Visitation for Daniel R. Robisky, 47, of Odell, and the son of Gardner residents, will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dwight. Rev. James Rickey will officiate.
Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Pontiac.
Memorials may be made for his children.
He died Saturday (Aug. 24, 2002) near Odell from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Robisky was a truck driver for Hoffman Trucking.
He was born March 11, 1955, in Pontiac, the son of Raymond and Patricia States Robisky.
He had been married
to the former Kathleen Stevenson.
Surviving besides his parents of Gardner are two daughters, Jennifer Robisky of Normal, Katelyn Robisky of Dwight; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Staff Sgt. Brian and Cristina Robisky of the U.S. Air Force stationed in Okinawa, Dennis Robisky of Dwight; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Joe Maxard of Gardner, Connie and Bob Watters and Carol and Ray Dippon, all of Dwight; and two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Mark "Ziggy" Zogg.
One brother, Thomas Robisky, is deceased.
Mr. Robisky was a 1973 graduate of Dwight Township High School.
Irma Schipper
Irma Carolyn Schipper, 85, of Kankakee, died Monday (Aug. 26, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Schipper and her late husband, Lawrence "Bud" Schipper, owned and operated Kankakee Therapy for 35 years, retiring in 1993.

MONEE -- Ervin W. Schubbe, 80, of rural Monee, died Sunday (Aug. 25, 2002) at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, Hazel Crest.
He donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois.

Mr. Schubbe was a retired farmer.
He was born Dec. 13, 1921, in rural Monee, the son of Herman and Minnie Mittag Schubbe.
Surviving are his wife, the former Arlene Buckman, whom he married
March 2, 1962, in Bonfield, of Monee; two sons, Thomas Schubbe of Wichita Falls, Texas, Robert Schubbe of Monee; and one daughter, Pamela Schubbe and her fiance, Wes Ellingham of Manteno.
One brother, Elmer, is deceased.
Mr. Schubbe was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Peotone, the Will County Farm Bureau and the Eastern Will County Senior Services.

CHICAGO -- Dorothy M. Schultz, 79, of Chicago, and a former Kankakee County resident, died Saturday (Aug. 24, 2002).
Private services will be held.
Burial will be in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery.
Arrangements are by the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel.
She was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Kankakee County, the daughter of Louis and Dorothy Monferdini Ferrari.
Her husband, Alfred Schultz, died in 1967.
Surviving are three brothers and sisters-in-law, Adolph and Marilyn Ferrari of Boulder, Colo., James and Kay Ferrari of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Louis and Alice Ferrari of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Gloria Gomora of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Diane Asche of Downers Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Schultz was an administrative assistant at Central Manufacturing District in Chicago for about 35 years, retiring in 1990.

RIVERDALE, Ga. -- Vivian Sessions-Nembhard, 74, of Riverdale, Ga., former Pembroke Township tax assessor and long-time District 259 School board member, died Sunday (Aug. 25, 2002) in Riverdale.
Visitation and services are set for Friday.
Survivors include sons, Roderick, Maurice, Elroy and Donald Sessions, all of Kankakee.

COAL CITY -- Dorothy A. Soukup, 76, of Coal City (Goose Lake), formerly of the southside of Chicago, died Monday (Aug. 26, 2002) at Morris Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the Freitag Funeral Home, Wilmington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in the Bohemian National cemetery, Braidwood.
She was born July 17, 1926, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Anna Zobal Swartz.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Robert J. Soukup Sr.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Diane and Ray Larson of Morris, Karen Anciulis of Coal City; one son, Robert J. Soukup Jr. of Braidwood; and three grandchildren.

EARLVILLE -- Marcia L. "Ma" Stegmann, 72, of Earlville, and the mother of a Manteno resident, died Monday (Aug. 26, 2002) at the Ottawa Pavilion.
There will be no visitation.
Services will be private.
Hanley-Turner Funeral Home, Earlville, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stegmann owned and operated the local bowling alley in Earlville for many years and Ma's Pizza. She was also an EMT with the Earlville Ambulance Department for many years.
She was born March 3, 1930, in DeKalb, the daughter of Clarence and Elmi Liikala Swanburn.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Ray LaMore of Manteno; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Gail Stegmann of Seneca, Rodger and Carol Stegmann of Earlville; four grandchildren; one brother, Robert and Tomoko Swanburn of Hinckley; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sons, Robin and Gary; and one granddaughter, Andrea, are deceased.
