CRETE -- Dorothy Zirzow, 92, of Crete, died Wednesday (July 24, 2002) at the Anchorage of Beecher Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the 3 p.m. services at Hack Funeral Home, Beecher. Rev. Frank Hoss will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Paul's United Church of Christ cemetery, Monee.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
She was born June 8, 1910, in Monee, the daughter of Herman and Lydia Bohlander Zirzow.
Surviving are two sisters, Wilma Stolzenbach and Lorraine Zirzow, both of Crete.
One sister, Evelyn, is deceased.
Miss Zirzow was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Monee.
Allegra Ahrens
BEECHER -- Allegra A. (Lee) Ahrens, 82, of Beecher, formerly of Chicago, died Sunday (July 21, 2002) at the Anchorage of Beecher Nursing Home.
Visitation and services will be private.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Crete.
She was born Dec. 20, 1919, in Beecher, the daughter of Herman and Nellie Ahrens.
Surviving are three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lucille and Marvin Day of Florida, Bernice D'Elia and Darceta and Myron Albers, all of Beecher; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Wesley Ahrens, is deceased.
Wilford Griffin

BLUE ISLAND -- Wilford O'Neal Griffin, 71, of Blue Island, and area businessman, died Friday (July 19, 2002) at St. Francis Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Rhodes Funeral Home, 1018 W. 79th St.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 7023 S. Halsted, Chicago.
Mr. Griffin owned and operated a lumber business for over 30 years in St. Anne.
He was born May 9, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Paul and Willie L. Griffin.
Surviving are his wife, Clara, whom he married
in 1996 in Chicago; his former wife, Roberta Griffin; one son, Joe Collins of Mississippi; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Gloria and Lorenzo Smith of Kankakee, Brenda Griffin of Chicago, Mary Joyce and James Ponds of Rockford, Debra Berkley of Virginia; one stepdaughter, Detra McGee; two stepsons, Dennis and Devele McGee; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Autry of Oregon; two brothers, Roland Griffin and Hugo Griffin, both of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Griffin served as a deacon at the Greater Mount Baptist Church. He was a Mason.
He loved his church, building, hunting and singing.
Marie Marcotte
Marie P. Marcotte of Kankakee died today (July 23, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Senesac Kankakee Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald, Thomas and James Marcotte; and one daughter, Paula Sobol.
John Salisbury
John W. "Jay" Salisbury Jr., 67, of Kankakee, died Sunday (July 21, 2002) at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Rev. Charles Barclay will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Salisbury was a former employee of Manteno Mental Health Center.
He was born Oct. 28, 1934, in Kankakee, the son of John W. Sr. and Elizabeth Windal Salisbury. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Dennis Peterson of Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Karen Salisbury of St. Anne; three nephews; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Salisbury was a graduate of Kankakee High School and attended the Art Institute in Chicago and Olivet Nazarene University.
He enjoyed antiques.
Johnnie Zilm
ST. ANNE -- Services for Johnnie Mitchell Zilm, 57, of St. Anne, were held July 20 at Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home, St. Anne. Rev. John Coney officiated.
Mrs. Zilm died July 16, 2002.
Burial was in St. Anne Township cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Hayes, Kevin Randalls, Willie and Bob Carroll, Jason Norder and Neal Merredith.
Peter Jackson
Services for Peter "Pistol Pete" Jackson, 11, of Kankakee, were held July 22 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Kankakee. Rev. Ed Hedding officiated.
Peter died July 18, 2002.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery, Aroma Township. Pallbearers were Mike Deatherage, Ray Jackson, Casey and Mel Bohenstiehl. Honorary pallbearers were members of his Little League team.

CLIFTON -- Frances Helen Ulveling, 95, of Clifton, died Monday (July 22, 2002) at Merkle Knipprath Nursing Home.
Arrangements are pending at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Marilyn Wood
GLENCOE, Okla. -- Marilyn Jean Wood, 69, of Glencoe, Okla., formerly of Deselm, died Sunday (July 21, 2002) at the Lee's Summit Hospital, Lee's Summit, Mo.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ Oak Grove Restoration Branch and at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stillwater, Okla., Community of Christ Church.
Cremation rites will be accorded.

Mrs. Wood had worked in many fields in her life including at the Community of Christ Church for several years.
She was born Aug. 3, 1932 in Deselm.
Her husband, Oscar T. Wood, died in 1989.
Surviving are five sons, Rick Lidberg of Cushing, Okla., Ron Lidberg of Lone Jack, Mo., Don Lidberg of Guangzhou, China, David Lidberg of Gadsden, Ala., Bryan Lidberg of Glencoe, Okla.; one daughter, Tami Agnew of Rowlett, Texas; two sisters, Phyllis Munson of Tavares, Fla., Judy Rollins of Marysville, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the DAR and the Stillwater Okla. Congregation of the Community of Christ Church.

Alice D. Norden, 89, of Kankakee, died Sunday (July 21, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 5 p.m. wake service at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, Irwin, where she was a member. Rev. James Holup will officiate.
Burial will be in Sts. Mary and Joseph cemetery, Chebanse.
Memorials may be made to St. James the Apostle Catholic Church or to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Norden was a former legal secretary for Shapiro and Lauridsen law offices.
She was born Feb. 28, 1913, in Kankakee, the daughter of Phillip and Amelia Offerman.
Her husband, Arthur F. Norden, whom she married
Oct. 16, 1937, at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, died Sept. 20, 1985.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dennis Norden of Chicago, Kevin and Debbie Norden of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Richard Bukowski of Kankakee; one brother, Lester Offerman of Kankakee; and eight grandchildren.
One brother, Howard Offerman, is deceased.
Mrs. Norden was a member of the Council of Catholic Women of her church.
She enjoyed gardening.
Francis Dagen

BAYTOWN, Texas -- Francis G. Dagen, 65, of Baytown, Texas, formerly of Beecher, and the father of area residents, died Saturday (July 20, 2002).
A memorial service in the area will be held at a later date
Mr. Dagen was a truck driver and carpenter.
He was born June 24, 1937, in Rankin, the son of Ruby and Homer Dagen. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Dagen; one son and daughter-in-law, Lyle and Sandy Dagen of Manteno; two daughters, Brenda Dagen and Debbera Dennis, both of Bradley; and two grandchildren.
One son, David Dagen; and one brother, Jim Dagen, are deceased.
He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
