Audrey DesLauriers

LAFAYETTE, Colo. -- Audrey Maxine Wulffe DesLauriers, 83, of Lafayette, Colo., formerly of Kankakee, died Saturday (May 18, 2002) at her home.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 17 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Kankakee. Rev. Frank A. Warthan will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Boulder County, 2594 Trail Ridge Dr., East Suite-A, Lafayette, CO 80026 or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 298 S. Harrison Ave., Kankakee.
Mrs. DesLauriers was a retired teacher. She had been a resident of Lafayette, Colo., since 1994, moving there from Pearce, Ariz.
She was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Bastrop, La., the daughter of Albert Eugene and Margery Westbrook Washburn.
Her first husband, Henry William Wulffe, whom she married June 25, 1941, in Bastrop, La., died in 1976.
Surviving are her husband, Lawrence DesLauriers, whom she married Feb. 9, 1980, in Tombstone, Ariz., of Bradley; three daughters and one son-in-law, Mary and Charles Harrison of South Holland, Ann Allegro of Kankakee, Sally White of Lafayette, Colo.; two stepchildren, Kim DesLauriers of Morris, Molly Jones of Bradley; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
One granddaughter and one stepson are deceased.
She was a 1939 graduate of Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La. with degrees in biology and physical education.
Mrs. DesLauriers was a member of St. Ambrose Episcopal Church, Boulder, Colo., PEO Chapter JR of Kankakee and held many offices within the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago.
She had been a Red Cross volunteer.

Barbara Christensen

Barbara "Pete" Christensen, 71, of Kankakee, died Friday (July 12, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.

Bernice Grossi

MORRIS -- Bernice M. Grossi, 91, of Morris, formerly of Coal City, died Wednesday (July 10, 2002) at the Grundy County Home in Morris.
Services were held July 13 at the U.C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home. Charles Richardson officiated.
Burial was in Sample cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Grossi Jr., Joseph and Christopher Grossi, Kevin and Brian Beck and Tim Brooks.
Memorials may be made to the Grundy County Home Activity Fund.
Ms. Grossi was a self-employed domestic in Chicago Heights.
She was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Morris, the daughter of Edward and Edna Welton Brooks.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Sharon Grossi of Morris; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Maxine Brooks of Mountain Home, Ark.
One daughter, Joylynn Beck; and one brother, Ralph Brooks, are deceased.
She was educated in Grundy County.
Ms. Grossi was a member of the First Christian Church in Morris; the Women of the Moose in Chicago Heights; and the VFW Auxiliary Post 1336 in Coal City.
She enjoyed dancing, raising canaries, cockatiels and dogs.

Elmer Nally

Visitation for Elmer M. Nally, 96, of Watseka, was from 8 a.m. July 13 until the 9 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka, where he was a member. Rev. Lee Ryan officiated.
Burial was in Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to St. Edmund's Catholic Church; Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the donor's choice.
Arrangements were by Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka.
Mr. Nally died Wednesday (July 10, 2002) at his home.
He was the owner of College Inn Motel in Charleston. He was also a gasoline and oil distributor for Texaco in Gibson City, Danville and Coldwater, Mich.; a partner in John Deere Implement Sales at Fowler, Ind.; and Pontiac New Car Dealer in Macomb.
Mr. Nally was born April 1, 1906, in Bradley, the son of Martin and Mary Casey Nally.
His first wife, the former Marie Penn, whom he married in Kentland, Ind., died Aug. 12, 1986.
His second wife, the former Alma A. Friebele Clauser, whom he married July 13, 1988, in Kentland, Ind., died July 12, 1999.
Surviving are one sister, Ruth Williams of Watseka; and several nieces and nephews.
Six brothers, Jim, Warren, Earl, Bernard, Jack and Ed Nally; and two sisters, Nellie Lynch and Mildred Wilhelm, are deceased.

Fred Pine

MOMENCE -- Fred E. Pine, 91, of Momence, died Friday (July 12, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Cotter Funeral Home, Momence, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Rev. James Ruberg will officiate.
Burial will be in the Momence cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mr. Pine was a retired construction worker.
He was born May 2, 1911, in Westfield, Texas, the son of James and Olga Carlson Pine.
Surviving are his wife, the former Laura A. Davis, whom he married Aug. 26, 1939, in Kankakee, of Momence; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jean Pine of Momence, James and Connie Pine of Shiloh; one son-in-law, Ronald Porter of Fair Oaks, Ind.; one sister, Mabel Orr of Washington; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
One brother; one sister; one daughter, Shirley Porter; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Pine, are deceased.

Herbert Scholl

COLFAX -- Herbert H. "Herb" Scholl, 92, of Colfax, and the father of a Bonfield resident, died Friday (July 12, 2002) at the Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. service at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, where he was a member. Revs. Stephen Goodwin and Kirwin Stewart will be officiating.
Burial will be in Wiley cemetery, Colfax.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are being handled by the Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington.
He was born Jan. 2, 1910, in Arrowsmith, the son of Charles W. and Minnie Beier Scholl. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret "Marge" Houser, whom he married Aug. 7, 1938, in Bloomington, of the Fairview Haven Nursing Home; one son, Robert "Bob" and Linda Scholl of Bonfield; one sister, Charlotte Perdue of Hanford, Calif.; three grandchildren, Kerri (Todd) Robinson of Bonfield, Heather (Matt) Ward of Aurora, and David Scholl of Bonfield; three great grandchildren, Alexis Lin Robinson and Mason Robinson, both of Bonfield and Andrew Ward of Aurora; four nieces and two nephews, including Frank and Kaye Shaffer with whom he was very close; dear friends Jerry and Suzie Kukuck, their children, April and Danny, who he watched grow up and Mike Wissmiller, close friend and farm manager, of Cooksville.
Mr. Scholl had been a resident of Colfax since 1943 where he farmed until he retired in 1980. He was a third generation farmer. The family homestead was located on Route 9. He was a former seed representative serving several companies and had served on the Octavia Fire Dept.
He was active in scouting for 19 years and was a former scoutmaster and served on the Council Commissioner's staff.
Mr. Scholl had made many clocks.
He will be missed by his family and his extended family and friends, whom he loved very dearly.

Jerry Frye

JOLIET -- Jerry Frye, 45, of Joliet, and the nephew of a Coal City resident, died suddenly Thursday (July 4, 2002) at his home.
Services were held July 8 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet.
Burial was in Resurrection cemetery, Romeoville.
Memorials may be made to United Way.
Mr. Frye was employed as a carpenter with Local 174.
He was born Sept. 20, 1956, in Joliet, the son of Bruce and Josephine Toro Frye. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his special friend, Margaret Whalen Keck; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Pat Frye; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Mike Hogan, Mary Ann and Bob Fairbairn; one aunt, Connie Frye of Coal City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a 1974 graduate of Providence High School in Joliet.

Martha Fellers

SAUNEMIN -- Martha Marie Fellers, 86, of Saunemin, died Friday (July 12, 2002) at the ASTA Care Center in Pontiac.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. services at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cullom, where she was a member. Rev. Ed Stone will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunny Slope cemetery, Saunemin.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom.
Mrs. Fellers worked as a mental health technician at W.W. Fox Developmental Center, Dwight, from 1969-1981.
She was born April 22, 1916, in rural Emington, the daughter of John A. and Anna E. Branz Eggenberger.
Her husband, E. Russell Fellers, whom she married May 28, 1938, in Kentland, Ind., died Feb. 28, 1969.
Surviving are two daugthers and sons-in-law, Barbara and Richard Pittman of Sheldon, Eleanor and Ronald Billadeau of Bourbonnais; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Julia Fellers of Saunemin; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pearl Gray of Dwight.
Six brothers, John H., Andrew W., David J., Fred G., Francis and Ernest in infancy; and four sisters, Christina Houck, Anna Ross, Effie Conroy and Margaret McCann Thorne, are deceased.
She attended Eggenberger Grade School and was a 1934 graduate of Saunemin High School.
Mrs. Fellers was a member of the Women of the ELCA and the Martha Naomi Circle.

Ricky Matuszewski

Ricky Lee Matuszewski Sr., 49, of Chatsworth, died Friday afternoon at his home, following a lengthy illness.
Services at the Rilly-Redenius Funeral Home will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation 4-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Piper City.
