Services for Oscar H. Strode, 94, of Bourbonnais, were held July 8 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. Martin Guetzmer officiated.
Mr. Strode died July 4, 2002.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Scott, Mike and Chris Wakeley, Steven and Roger Strode Jr., and David Dillman.
Ruth Ayers
A funeral Mass for Ruth S. Ayers, 85, of Kankakee, was celebrated July 10 at Maternity BVM Catholic Church. Rev. John Peeters officiated.
Mrs. Ayers died July 6, 2002.
Burial was in Maternity BVM cemetery, Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Erik Wilkinson, Daniel, Patrick and Aaron Ayers, Duane Calovini, Christine and Michelle Legris, Sarah Wilkinson and Jessica Ayers.
Theodore Dean
LIMESTONE -- Services for Theodore "Kenny" Dean, 75, of Limestone Township, were held July 6 at Hertz-Thoma Chapel in Kankakee. Rev. Terry Harman officiated.
Mr. Dean died July 2, 2002.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Lacey, Greg Eltalabani, Chad and Tim Dean, James Rehberg and Pete Diaz. Honorary Pallbearers were James Hilgeman, Charlie Wirtz, James Prater, Jerry Parsons and Darrell Butler.
Evelyn Jackson
Services for Evelyn Louise Smith Jackson, 70, of Overland, Mo., and the sister of area residents, were held July 11 at Gospel Assembly Church, Bourbonnais. Rev. Steve Wilkinson officiated.
Mrs. Jackson died July 7, 2002.
Pallbearers were Mike, Jeff, LeRoy, Chad, Kenny and Billy Smith.
Ethel Vogel
MARINETTE, Wis. -- Services for Ethel D. Vogel, 58, of Marinette, Wis., and the mother of area residents, were held July 11 at the Danforth Reformed Church. Rev. Donald MacDonald III officiated.
Mrs. Vogel died July 8, 2002.
Burial was in the Danforth cemetery. Pallbearers were Pearl Lloyd Cottingham III, Joshua Craigmiles, Kevin McCoy, Rick and Rickey Miller and Randy Musser.
Elsie Denault
GOODRICH -- A funeral Mass for Elsie E. Denault, 85, of Goodrich, was celebrated July 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Goodrich. Rev. Lee Bacchi officiated.
Mrs. Denault died July 6, 2002.
Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Goodrich. Pallbearers were Brian and Jason Helmig, Kris LaMontagne, Terry Harms and Greg and Doug Denault. Honorary pallbearers were Erin, Kelsie and Luke Anstrom.
William Lund
Visitation for William "Bill" Lund, 76, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at the First Presbyterian Church, Kankakee. Rev. Scott Hill will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Kankakee, where he had been a member since June 1, 1938 and an elder since 1962.
Mr. Lund had worked overhead construction for Commonwealth Edison for 39 years.
He died Thursday (July 11, 2002) at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Dwight, the son of Martin J. and Lillian Blake Lund.
His wife, the former Beatrice Buckman, whom he married
in 1946, died April 16, 1986.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Lund of Kankakee, James and Roberta Lund of Madison, Wis.; two grandchildren, Kristin Lund of Yorkville, Alexander Lund of Madison, Wis.; and his mother-in-law, Elise Buckman of Bourbonnais.
One brother, Marlin J. Lund, is deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.
He enjoyed bowling.
Charles MacDonald

Charles L. MacDonald, 75, of Kankakee, died today (July 12, 2002) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Deacon Joseph Cotugno will officiate.
Burial will be in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to the family wishes.
Mr. MacDonald retired after 38 years of service from Armour Pharmaceutical. He was also the owner of M&S; Antenna Service in Kankakee.
He was born Sept. 15, 1926, the son of Leonard and Charlotte Brosseau MacDonald.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ione Pray, whom he married
Feb. 26, 1949, in Kankakee; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott B. and Annie MacDonald of Kankakee; 13 daughters and six sons-in-law, Dotty Lagesse, Diane and Mike Ely, Deborah Ball, Darlene Wieliczko, Deanna Larsen, all of Bourbonnais, Denise Peltier of Kankakee, Dolores and Greg Stefanski of Downers Grove, Donna and Alan Moore of Benton, Darla and Jeff Marshall of Minonk, Doris MacDonald of Warrenville, Dawn and John Grebe of Wheaton, Dana and Marc Bernicky of Plainfield, Dara MacDonald of Tinley Park; and 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Danielle MacDonald; and one sister, Ethel MacDonald, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.
He enjoyed old cars and playing cards.
Constance Hetland
PONTIAC -- Constance Elaine Hetland, 58, of Heritage Manor, Dwight, formerly of Pontiac Towers, died Wednesday (July 10, 2002) at Heritage Manor.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park cemetery, Pontiac. Morgan Miller will officiate. Visit with the family at the First Presbyterian Church Hall in Pontiac after the graveside service.
Memorials may be made to the residents activity fund at Heritage Manor.
Arrangements are by Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac.
She was born Sept. 3, 1943, in Pontiac, the daughter of Orin C. and Charlotte I. Larkin Hetland. Her mother is deceased.
Surviving are her father of Heritage Manor, Streator; one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ricardo Rangel of Streator; one nephew, Richard Alan (Corrine) Rangel of Portage, Ind.; two nieces, Amy Lynn Rangel and Angela Maria Rangel, both of Streator; and one great-niece.
Miss Hetland had been employed at Johnson Press in Pontiac for many years.
She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Streator.
She enjoyed crafts.
Dorothy Fowler

Dorothy R. Fowler, 84, of Bourbonnais, died Thursday (July 11, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Minister Jon Quinn will officiate.
Burial will be in the Aroma Park cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bradley Church of Christ, where she was a charter member.
Mrs. Fowler had been a kindergarten teacher for Kankakee School District 111 from 1954-1974. She had taught at Franklin and Thomas Edison schools.
She was born April 12, 1918, in Paducah, Ky., the daughter of Lance and Pearl Watkins Dossett. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Paul E. Fowler, whom she married
June 14, 1941, in Kentucky, died March 23, 2002.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Nancy Fowler of Scottsboro, Ala.; one daughter, Patricia Paul of New York City; four grandchildren, Monique Fowler-Paul of London, England, Danielle Paul of Memphis, Tenn., Kimberly and David Kohl of Charlotte, N.C., Corey Fowler of Oxford, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
One son-in-law, James R. Paul, is deceased.
She was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program.
She enjoyed golfing.
Elmer Nally

Visitation for Elmer M. Nally, 96, of Watseka, will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka, where he was a member. Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate.
Burial will be in Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to St. Edmund's Catholic Church; Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the donor's choice.

Mr. Nally died Wednesday (July 10, 2002) at his home.
He was the owner of College Inn Motel in Charleston. He was also a gasoline and oil distributor for Texaco in Gibson City, Danville and Coldwater, Mich.; a partner in John Deere Implement Sales at Fowler, Ind.; and Pontiac New Car Dealer in Macomb.
Mr. Nally was born April 1, 1906, in Bradley, the son of Martin and Mary Casey Nally.
His first wife, the former Marie Penn, whom he married
in Kentland, Ind., died Aug. 12, 1946.
His second wife, the former Alma A. Friebele Clauser, whom he married
July 13, 1988, in Kentland, Ind., died July 12, 1999.
Surviving are one sister, Ruth Williams of Watseka; and several nieces and nephews.
Six brothers, Jim, Warren, Earl, Bernard, Jack and Ed Nally; and two sisters, Nellie Lynch and Mildred Wilhelm, are deceased.
Esther Pucek
PARKSTON, S.D. -- Esther Marie Pucek, 80, of Parkston, S.D., formerly of Kankakee, died Thursday (July 11, 2002) at her daughter's home in Parkston.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee and from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. services at Immanuel Baptist Church, Kankakee. Rev. Elmo Herman, her son-in-law, will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded by the Hertz-Thoma Crematory.
Burial of the ashes will be at Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Mrs. Pucek worked for Illinois Bell as a telephone operator for five years and as a teller at City National Bank for 15 years. She spent the remainder of her years working as an independent supervisor for Shaklee Health Food Products.
She was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Kankakee, the daughter of William Edward and Emma Newbeek Stewig.
Surviving are her husband, Darwynne Pucek, whom she married
Sept. 6, 1943, in Kankakee; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jonathan Paul Pucek of Culver City, Calif., Philip Ian and Sandra Pucek of Danville; one daughter and son-in-law, Revs. Sarah and Elmo Herman of Parkston, S.D.; seven grandchildren; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Martha and Edwin Kapchinski of Fairfield Bay, Ark., Helen Cann of Joliet, Eleanor and Allen Capeland of Fresno, Calif., Edna Mae and Cecil Martin of Bourbonnais, Mariann Luth of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Amy Fuller of Bourbonnais; and two brothers-in-law, Henry and Norma Pucek of Redland, Calif. and Robert and Loretta Pucek of Manteno.
One daughter, Jennifer Eilene, is deceased.
She was a 1950 graduate of Kankakee High School.
She and her husband lived in Kankakee all their life until May of this year when they moved to Parkston where their daughter Sarah lives.
She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Kankakee, serving on various boards and committees and in the music program.
She was a seamstress.
