Dekota Ketchum
Dekota Michael Ketchum, infant son of Curtis Ketchum and Karla Doss, of Bradley, died Friday (Dec. 1, 2000) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation was from 8-10 a.m. today at the Bradley Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at Kankakee Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Surviving, in addition to the parents, are his maternal grandmother, Theresa Doss of Bourbonnais; paternal grandmother, Pearl Ketchum of Chicago; paternal grandfather, William Ketchum of Chicago; several great-grandmothers; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
His maternal grandfather, Carl Michael Doss, is deceased.

Cecilia Carter
Cecilia M. "Kay" Carter, 73, of Bourbonnais, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at ManorCare Health Services.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Local arrangements are by Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
She was born Oct. 5, 1927, at Dallas Center, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Eaplonia Smith Hudson.
Her husband, Lee Carter, whom she married Aug. 27, 1960, in Elkhart, Ind., died Sept. 25, 1990.
Surviving are one son, Steven Carter of Bourbonnais; and one granddaughter, Samantha.
One son, Michael Carter, is deceased.
She was a member of Maternity BVM Church.
She enjoyed bowling.

William Kranz
ROCKVILLE, Md. - William W. Kranz, 80, of Rockville, Md., formerly of Kankakee, died Sunday (Dec. 10, 2000) at Casey House Hospice in Rockville, Md.
Burial was in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Silver Spring, Md.
Memorials may be made to Casey House-Montgomery Hospice, 6001 Muncaster Mill Rd., Rockville, Md. 20855; the American Cancer Society; St. Patrick's Church and Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee.
He was born Nov. 17, 1920, in Chicago, the son of Steve and Caroline Kranz.
Surviving are his wife, the former Eileen Heeren, whom he married in June 1943; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela and Stephen LaGrassa of Royal Oak, Mich., Christine and James Smith of Washington, D.C., and Patricia Kranz of New York City; five grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Frank, Steve and Herman, are deceased.
Mr. Kranz was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a radio operator on planes flying "The Hump" of the Himalayas during the China-Burma-India Campaign.
He purchased Heeren Electric Co. in 1962, and later changed the name of the electrical contracting company to William W. Kranz Inc.
He was a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association, Builders Club, Kankakee Country Club, the Knights of Columbus, where he was a knight of the fourth degree, the American Bell Association and the National Netsuke Society.
He was founder of the Huddle Club at St. Patrick's Central High School, now Bishop McNamara High School.
He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling and hunting, and was a collector of bells, Native American artifacts, netsukes and mechanical toys.

Zelma Guest
HERSCHER - Zelma D. Guest, 90, of Herscher, died Wednesday (Dec. 13, 2000).
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Bob Fehr will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Reddick United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Mrs. Guest retired from the Reddick post office, where she was a postal clerk for 30 years.
Mrs. Guest was born Aug. 17, 1910, in Essex Township, the daughter of Bernard C. and Louis Harms Milling.
She married Francis Guest Sr. Aug. 2, 1930, in Joliet. He died in 1985.
Surviving are six daughters and five sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Jack Ericcson of Oak Harbor, Wash., Inez Guest of Sebring, Kay and Marion Smith of Urbana, Joan and Don Boling of Warrenton, Mo., Verla and Bill Jordan of Moline, and Rena and Bob Eich of Herscher; one brother, Harold Milling of Kankakee; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Mick Guest Jr., and Jack Guest, are deceased.
She was a Sunday school teacher, on the board of directors, and was a member of the United Methodist Women at Reddick United Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Riverside Twig.
She enjoyed crafts.

Willis Earnhart Jr.
Willis W. Earnhart Jr., 84, of Kankakee, died suddenly Thursday (Dec. 14, 2000) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be at 9 a.m. Monday. Rev. Paul Mount will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or to Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a member.
He retired in 1978 from General Foods Service Dept., after 36 years.
Mr. Earnhart was born June 16, 1916, in Union County, the son of Willis W. Sr. and Susan Prater Earnhart.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Ligon, whom he married May 10, 1945, in Jonesboro, of Kankakee; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Dallis and Pat Earnhart of SpringHill, Fla., Ralph and Brent Earnhart, both of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and George McCoy of Channahon; one sister, Neva Davis of Anna; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Henry Earnhart; one sister, Macey Evans; and one granddaughter, Susie, are deceased.
Mr. Earnhart was a World War II Vet, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was active in the Kankakee Senior Citizens, and loved to garden.

Ida Wood
AROMA PARK - Ida C. Wood, 93, of Aroma Park, formerly of Virginia, died today (Dec. 15, 2000) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Services are pending at Hertz-Thoma Chapel.
Surviving are one daughter, Gaynell Keller-Balk of Aroma Park; and one son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Barbara Leonard of Va.

Daniel Holstein
SPRINGFIELD - Daniel F. Holstein, 56, of Springfield, and father to an area resident, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000) at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene, 5200 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Rev. Tim Gates will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, Springfield, where he was a member.
Mr. Holstein worked as a field representative for Automotive Wholesale Association of Illinois.
Mr. Holstein was born Oct. 2, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the son of Rev. Calbert V. and Fannie Fern Taberer Holstein. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick V. Holstein of Springfield, Nickolas A. Holstein of Kankakee; one stepson and spouse, Hans M. and LeAnn Switzer of Epping, N.H.; two step grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Calbert V. and Phyllis Holstein of Springfield, and John W. and Helen Holstein of Sun City, Fla.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Dr. Ken Matheny of Atlanta, Ga., Elizabeth and Paul Pence of Holt, Mich., and Rebekah Holstein of Lansing, Mich.; and nieces and nephews.

Gladys Winger
CISSNA PARK - Visitation for Gladys K. Winger, 94, of Cissna Park will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park.
Burial will be in Apostolic Christian cemetery, Cissna Park.
Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Church, where she was a member, or to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Winger died Thursday (Dec. 14, 2000) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
She was born Nov. 17, 1906, in Cissna Park, the daughter of John and Anna Kropf Hari.
Surviving are her husband, George Winger, whom she married Jan. 10, 1925, in Kankakee, of Cissna Park; three daughters, Irma Jean Knapp, Lila Winger, and Marilyn Winger, all of Cissna Park; one son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Aldine Winger of Cissna Park; one sister, Lillian Foell of Elgin; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
One brother; and four sisters, are deceased.

Thelma Hedrick
Thelma I. Hedrick, 90, of Kankakee, died Thursday (Dec. 14, 2000).
Private services will be held.
Arrangements are by the Bradley Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
She was born March 15, 1910, in Bluefield, W. Va., the daughter of Robert W. and Myrtle Maxie Turner.
Her husband, Floyd T. Hedrick Sr. died in Aug. 1989.
Surviving are one son, Floyd T. Hedrick Jr. of Kankakee; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
One son, Robert W. Hedrick; one brother, Robert Turner; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Madalyn and Clydie, are deceased.

Jerry Dayhoff
Jerry E. Dayhoff, 60, of Bourbonnais, died Thursday (Dec. 14, 2000) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services on Monday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.

Olive Devine
Visitation for Olive S. Devine, 80, a longtime resident of Kankakee, will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mark United Methodist Church, Kankakee, where she had been a member for over 60 years. Rev. Craig Sweet will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Devine died Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) at Riverside Medical Center emergency room.
She was born July 20, 1920, in Bushong, Kan., the daughter of Lee and Stella Overright Rowley. Her parents are deceased.
Her first husband, Albert Eppelsheimer, died in 1952.
Her second husband, Neil Devine, died in 1976.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Bernie Varboncouer of Beaverville, Donna and Lawrence Regnier of Villa Park; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Oravetta and Kenneth Cox of Fayetteville, Ark., Oralee and Melvin VanDerKarr of Lakeland, Fla., Opal Houk of Kansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Omar and Joanne Rowley of Udal, Kan.; sister-in-law, Dale Eppelsheimer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Francis and Buddy Bates, Rita and Bernie Devine, Mary and Bob Dixon, Edward and Arlene Devine; six grandchildren, Vickie and Bob Marquie, Mark Varboncouer, Robert and Mary Varboncouer, Eric Varboncouer, Donald Regnier, Laurie and Frank Miller; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
One stepson, Jack Eppelsheimer; two brothers, Owen and Orville Rowley; and one sister, Ona Witt are deceased.
Mrs. Devine was retired from Americana Nursing Home and had worked at Bear Brand Hosiery, J.C. Penney and for many years for Catholic Charities.
She was a member of the church circle at St. Mark.
She enjoyed bowling, flower gardening, feeding the birds and bingo.
She loved to sew.
