COAL CITY -- Joseph Chiapetto, 87, of Coal City, died Wednesday (July 3, 2002) at Morris Hospital.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Assumption Catholic Church, Coal City. Rev. Peter Yock officiated.
Burial was in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood. Pallbearers were Sheridan Bailey, Joe Bertoglio, Melvin Dearth, Tom Powell, Don Valiente and Larry Wharrie.
Mr. Chiapetto operated Fleming's Bowling Lanes in Coal City for many years. He was a former Felix Township Supervisor and Grundy County Board member. He was involved in many community activities.
He was born Jan. 26, 1915, in St. David, the son of Louis and Teresa Cobetto Chiapetto.
Surviving are many cousins and friends.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe and Africa. He was an active member of American Legion and the Forty and Eight Club and held many different offices. He also was a VFW member.
He enjoyed baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees; and traveling.
Joseph Gall
Joseph M. Gall Sr., 81, of Kankakee, died today (July 5, 2002) at Vencor Central Hospital in Chicago.
Arrangements are pending at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
Julia Seemann
MOMENCE -- Julia Ann Seemann, 81, of Momence, formerly of Grant Park, died Thursday (July 4, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hub Funeral Chapel, Grant Park, and from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the 10:30 a.m. services at the First Baptist Church in Momence, where she was a member. Rev. William Steger will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mrs. Seemann had been employed as a nurses aide at Riverside Medical Center and Provena St. Mary's Hospital, both in Kankakee.
She was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Taylor County, Kentucky, the daughter of Levi DuValt and America Elizabeth Birch Keen.
Her husband, Wilmer John Oscar Seeman, died in 1981.
Surviving are four sons and one daughter-in-law, Wilmer J. Seemann Jr., Phil Seemann, David Seemann, Vernon R. and Jan Seemann, all of Momence; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Brenda J. Kozienski of Momence, Betty and Mike Snapp of North Carolina, Ellie and Carole White-Wenrick of Indiana, Verna and Russell Brown of Tennessee, Shirley and Orville Flournoy of Momence; one sister, Mary Lou Pike of Matteson; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Five brothers; four sisters; and one grandson, John Edward Flournoy, are deceased.
Marion Wilson
COAL CITY -- Marion I. Wilson, 75, of Coal City, died Wednesday (July 3, 2002) at Morris Hospital.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Private burial services will be held.
R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Millington, Colo., the daughter of Ernest and Gladys Greenwood Stanton.
Surviving are her husband, Albert R. Wilson; two daughters and one son-in-law, Georgia and Paul Countryman of Braidwood, Traci Grossich of Coal City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Katherine Wilson, Edward and Tammy Wilson, all of Gardner; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Evelyn Jennings of Morris.
Two sons, Clayton and William Wilson; one sister, Billie Hein; and dear friend, Joe Jennings, are deceased.

SUN RIVER TERRACE -- Mattie Allen, 74, of Sun River Terrace, died Wednesday (July 3, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.

Mercedes Cacello
SOUTH WILMINGTON -- Visitation for Mercedes R. "Cedie" Cacello, 79, of South Wilmington, will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, South Wilmington Chapel.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, South Wilmington, where she was a member. Rev. Bob Maternoski will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Private burial services will be held at Mount Olivet cemetery, Braidwood.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. Cacello died Wednesday (July 3, 2002) at Heritage Manor in Dwight.
She was born Feb. 22, 1923, in South Wilmington, the daughter of John "Skinny" and Angeline "Jennie" Bottino Pomatto.
Surviving are her husband, Peter A. Cacello; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Marcia Cacello of South Wilmington; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jack Smolik of South Wilmington; five grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Francis "Bud" and Cele Pomatto of Coal City; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Genevieve and Dom Veronda of Coal City and Elaine McKune of Cosby, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews.
Michael Franks
Visitation for Frederick "Michael" Franks, 50, of Nampa, Idaho, formerly of Kankakee, will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home, Kankakee.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Caldwell Chapel. Rev. Nathan Richmond will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.

Mr. Franks died Saturday (June 29, 2002) at St. Alphonsus Hospital, Boise, Idaho, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
He was born May 22, 1952, in Kankakee, the son of Fred E. Gathing and Katherine Franks. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are five sons and one daughter-in-law, Quinn and Angie Bennett, Damon Garner, all of Kankakee, Derrius Jackson and Justin Jackson, both of Greenville, Justin Franks of Nampa, Idaho; two daughters, Sonja Bennett of Kankakee, Stacy Franks of Nampa, Idaho; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Eola and Darrel Chapple of Chicago and Ruby Anderson of Los Angeles, Calif.
One special aunt and uncle, Estelle McCallister and James McCallister, are deceased.
Mr. Franks had been a paramedic with the Kankakee Fire Department, St. Mary's Hospital and Trulavesta in San Diego, Calif.
He also was a horse riding instructor, trainer, rodeo rider, cowboy and rancher.
He was a drummer, singer and played the harmonica. He liked telling stories.

PEOTONE -- Anna Cann, 84, of Peotone, died today (July 3, 2002) at the Anchorage of Beecher Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone.
Burial will be in Wilton Center cemetery, Manhattan. Pallbearers will be Lyle and Tom Carstens, Robert and Charles Schuler, Pete White, Jeff and Mark Crumrine and Robert Johnson.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ, where she was a member.
Mrs. Cann was a retired bank teller from Peotone Bank and Trust.
She was born Jan. 20, 1918, in Peotone, the daughter of Olof and Alma Karlson Johnson.
Her husbands, Wallace Giles, Fred Carstens and Howard Cann, are deceased.
Surviving are two stepsons and step-daughters-in-law, Lyle and Bonnie Carstens of Peotone, Allen and Lois Carstens of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter-in-law, Judy Giles of Peotone; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Stevens of Elon, N.C.; and two sisters-in-law, Hazel Johnson of New Lenox and Theresa Johnson of Bradley.
One son, Duane Giles, who died in 1998; and two brothers, Albion Johnson and Gilbert Johnson, are deceased.
Arnold Shenk
centenarian dies
CUSTER PARK -- Visitation for Arnold Shenk, 100, of Custer Park, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Braidwood. Pallbearers will be Larry Corneils, Jack Mann, Steve DeClerck, Gary, Dan, Mark and Ben Underhill and Jon DeClerck.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Braidwood or to the Braidwood Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Shenk died Monday (July 1, 2002) at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.
He farmed most of his life in the Custer Township area. He also worked at the Northern Illinois Coal Co., later Peabody Coal Co. for 39 years, and was a member of the United Mine workers.
Mr. Shenk was an 80-year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood and had served on the Reed Custer School Board for 16 years.
He was born June 23, 1902, in Custer Township, the son of Joseph and Ellen Rankin Shenk.
His wife, the former Thelma Sprowls, whom he married
Dec. 15, 1926, is deceased.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Janet Caise of Custer Park, Arlene and August Corneils of Yorkville; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carol Shenk of Custer Park; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Five brothers and three sisters are deceased.
He attended Illinois State University to study agriculture.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 704 AF&AM; and the Eastern Star, Holly Chapter 183, both in Braidwood, the Mohammed Shrine in Peoria, the Will County Farm Bureau and the Moose Lodge.
He was a Chicago Cubs fan.
Bessie Wilson,

Bessie M. Wilson, 97, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (July 2, 2002) at Bradley Royale Nursing Center.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. services at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. Thomas Wilber will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson had been an assistant manager at the Bradley National Tea Store for seven years.
She was born Nov. 9, 1904, in Clayton, Ky., the daughter of James and Ida Cox Adkins.
Her husband, Harvey Wilson, died in 1972.
Surviving are two sons, Glen Wilson and Robert Wilson, both of Mississippi; one daughter, Mary Stevenson of Kankakee; two sisters, Pearl Wilson of Kankakee, Ethel Trumbo of Springfield, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
One son, Junior Wilson; and one sister, Stella Jewell, are deceased.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women, the Kankakee County WCTU, the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Salvation Army Senior Citizens, World War II Mothers Unit 18 and the Prime Time Senior Citizens.
