Willis Hodo

Visitation for Willis Love "Son" Hodo, 60, of Kankakee, will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home.
Mr. Hodo died Thursday (June 27, 2002) at his home after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 15, 1942, in Hamilton, Miss., the son of Buster and Estella Colemen Hodo. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Perthina Amphy, whom he married June 23, 2001, in Kankakee; five sons and one daughter-in-law, Gregory and Ginger Randall, Willis Hodo Jr. and TyJuan Hodo and Kevin Amphy and special son, Derrick (Michell Jarrett), all of Kankakee; six daughters, Louise Joiner, Kimberly Randall and Rosetta Randall, all of California, Sonya Amphy and special daughter, Lidia Jarrett, both of Kankakee; and Angela Jefferson of Minnesota; five sisters, Susie Ray of California, Earnestine Fields of Mississippi, Sarah Walker and Marie Perkins, both of Kankakee, Maggie Turner of Wisconsin; two brothers and one sister-in-law, George Willis of Chicago, Willie and Alice Banks of Kankakee; three brothers-in-law, Virdell Larkin and Carl Amphy, both of Louisiana, Michael Amphy of Colorado; three sisters-in-law, Robertine and Earl Smith of Kankakee, Tressie Tetter of California, Paulette and Johnnie Newman of Minnesota; and 28 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Delores Hodo and Shirley Bailey; and one nephew, Marvin Bailey, are deceased.
Mr. Hodo had been an employee of Valspar, formerly Mobil Chemical for 32 years, where he was a bulk mill operator, paint tinter and a batch mixer.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycling, watching westerns and playing video games.

Wilma Warning

PEOTONE -- Wilma Warning, 82, of Peotone, died Saturday (June 29, 2002) in Minooka.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the 8 p.m. services at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone. Rev. Bruce Gotschall will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to the local Hospice.
She was born Jan. 3, 1920, in Bloomington, the daughter of Walter and Isla Mae Johnson White.
Her husband, Clarence Warning, whom she married April 10, 1948, in Joliet, died in 1990.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Clair Warning of Pittsburgh, Pa., Ronald and Joanne Warning of New Lenox, David and Denise Warning, Robert and Kim Warning, all of Peotone; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Terry Martin of Des Moines, Iowa, Alice and Rick Wasney of Park Forest; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
One son, Gordon Warning; two daughters-in-law, Martha Warning and Polly Warning; and one granddaughter, Stephanie, are deceased.
She was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.
Mrs. Warning was a retired secretary for the Peotone School District.
She was a member of the Peotone United Methodist Church and the Eastern Will County Senior Services.

Dorothy Richardson
37-year state employee

Visitation for Dorothy M. Richardson, 88, of Kankakee, formerly of Springfield, will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Springfield, where she was a member. Rev. Patrick Wright will officiate.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Springfield.
Memorials may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, Springfield or to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
Arrangements are by the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Richardson died Friday (June 28, 2002) at Miller Center.
She worked for 37 years for the state of Illinois as a secretary for the Department of Public Health and Insurance retiring in 1976. She also worked in Adlai Stevenson's office when he was governor.
She was born April 9, 1914, in Chicago, the daughter of Matt and Mazie Tolan Corrigan. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Lewis R. Richardson, whom she married Dec. 27, 1943, died Dec. 10, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Bud Bates of Kankakee, Diane and Steve Cooper of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Terry Hall of Ft. Smith, Ark.; four grandchildren, Terry Bates of Chicago, Keli and Dimitri Fayard of Chicago, Brian and Jessa Cooper and Melissa Cooper, all of Springfield; two great-granddaughters, Maya and Grace Fayard of Chicago; and six step grandchildren, Woody and Lisa Bates, Jessica Taylor and Valeri Bates, all of Louisburg, Kansas, Perry and Nancy Bates, Gabriel Swingle, all of Independence, Mo., and Lauren Bates of Palm Dale, Calif.
Two sisters, Deloris Hiatt and Rosann Gerrity; and one brother, Dan Corrigan, are deceased.
She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and a member of its alumnae.
Mrs. Richardson was a member of the St. Agnes Altar and Rosary Society and the Sanctuary Club.

Eliza Wills

Visitation for Eliza M. Wills, 83, of Kankakee, will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lax Mortuary, and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. service at Greater New Hope Church in Kankakee. Revs. Howard Wills Sr., Joseph Wills Jr., and Joseph Lightfoot, will co-officiate.
Burial will be in Momence cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Greater New Hope Scholarship Foundation.
Mrs. Wills died Thursday (June 27, 2002) at her home.
She was born June 20, 1919 in Little Rock, Ark., the daughter of Sylvester Clark.
Her husband, Rev. Joseph Wills Sr., whom she married in 1940, is deceased.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Rev. Joseph Jr. and Ann Wills, Sylvester Wills, Pastor Howard Sr. and Carol Wills, Jerry Wills Sr., all of Kankakee; two daughters, Alice Stubblefield and Dorothy Crawford, both of Kankakee; two brothers-in-law, Moses and Margaret Wills of Phoenix, Ill., Rev. Woodrow and Janice Wills of Chicago; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
One daughter, Joretha Wills Pickens; and two sisters, Arlina and Lorina Clark, are deceased.
Mrs. Wills helped her husband organize and was the faithful first lady of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Kankakee.
She worked as a seamstress at Bronough Casket Factory for 10 years.
She was a resident of Pembroke for 37 years and Kankakee for 18 years.
She enjoyed directing the children's choir at Christian Hope Church.

Herman 'Butch' Cullick

COAL CITY -- Herman "Butch" Cullick, 94, of Coal City, died Saturday (June 29, 2002) at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11:30 a.m. service at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel.
Interment will be in Braceville-Gardner cemetery in Braceville. Pallbearers will be Daniel, David and Dean Cullick, Dale Richie, Pat Carey and Bernie Burla.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Coal City Emergency Squad would be appreciated.
Mr. Cullick was born Aug. 23, 1907 in Braceville, the son of the late Adam and Hannah Rink Cullick.
His wife, the former Mary Capuchio, whom he married July 18, 1936, is deceased.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, John and Bev Cullick of South Wilmington; three grandsons, Daniel and Lynn Cullick of Oswego, David and Carrie Cullick of Coal City, and Dean Cullick of South Wilmington; four great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Dylan, Brendan and Abbie; one sister, Pauline Hooper of Dwight; and many nieces and nephews.
Six brothers, Joseph, John "Jack, " George, Felix, Pete and Bernard "Ben" Cullick; and three sisters, Rose Hultgren, his twin Martha Krall, and Mary Nahas, are deceased.
Mr. Cullick was formerly employed as Sexton of the Braceville-Gardner cemetery in Braceville.

Janice Bruce

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Janice E. Bruce, 48, of Nashville, Tenn., daughter and sister of Bourbonnais residents, died June 21.
Services were held at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
Graveside services were held in Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington, Ind. Rev. Harold Canaday, her uncle, officiated. Honorary pallbarers were Phil Bullock, Steve Calvert, Gary Cayce, Pat Connell, Aaron Harms and Vic Martin.
Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice Inc., 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, Tenn. 37203-9658, or Highland Park Church in Nashville.
She was born Oct. 3, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Rev. Clyde and Peggy V. Canaday Jackson. Her father is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Marc Bruce, whom she married Dec. 17, 1984 in Bloomington, Ind., of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Bryan L. Melvin of Bloomington, Ind.; her mother, Peggy V. Jackson of Bourbonnais; one sister, Carol S. and Doug Harms of Bourbonnais; one brother-in-law, Dennis and Jan Coy of Bourbonnais; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister, Sharon D. Coy, is deceased.
Mrs. Bruce was a member of Highland Park Church in Nashville.
She was a retired administrative secretary with the State of Tennessee, Department of Insurance and Commerce.

Randall Prussner

REDDICK -- Randall Prussner, 44, of Reddick, died Friday (June 28, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reddick United Methodist Church. Rev. Steven Friese will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Reddick United Methodist Church or American Heart Association.
Mr. Prussner was born Jan. 10, 1958 in Peoria, the son of C. Ray and Roberta J. Randall Prussner. His mother died Dec. 9, 1996.
Surviving are his father and stepmother, C. Ray and Myrtle Prussner; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Debi Prussner of Bourbonnais; four stepbrothers, Jerald and Doris Sparenberg of Laredo, Texas, Dennis and June Sparenberg of Beverly, Ky., Carl and Marey Sparenberg of Danforth, and Bill and Jean Sparenberg of Clifton; two special nieces, Lora and Steve Keys, Missi and Russell Olson; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Prussner was a laborer for VanVoorst Industry in Union Hill.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Reddick.
He graduated from Reddick High School and was active in sports, setting track records.
He was an avid reader of science fiction, was a Cubs fan, enjoyed and excelled at playing the drums and in solving mechanical problems, and enjoyed working with his hands.

Mary Wajtekunas

Services for Mary E. Wajtekunas, 90, of Bradley, were held June 29 at the Bradley Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. John Antczak officiated.
Mrs. Wajtekunas died June 26, 2002.
Burial was in Mount Calvary cemetery, Kankakee. Pallbearers were John Hennessy, Delaney Gwaltney, Neal Massingile, Donna Helgeson, David Marsh and Randy Burton.

Alberta Chandler
27-year Quaker Oats employee

Visitation for Alberta "Bobbie" Chandler, 66, of Kankakee, will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Cremation rites will be accorded by the County Line Crematory, Chebanse.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Ms. Chandler died Thursday (June 27, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born July 29, 1935, in Chaffee, Mo., the daughter of Roscoe and Beatrice Nordin Keller. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her special friend, George Giroux; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kim Chandler of Kennesaw, Ga.; two sisters, Jewel Earlene Hampton of Chaffee, Mo., Leona Hernandez of Oran, Mo.; one brother, Russell Keller of St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.
One sister, Doris; and one nephew, Rocky Prince, are deceased.
Ms. Chandler retired in 1993 from Quaker Oats Co., Kankakee, after 27 years of service. She had worked in housekeeping at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
She enjoyed playing the slot machines.
