Joseph Walter Kaar
Joseph Walter Kaar passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2005, after a long and active life. He was married
to the former Mary Ellen Brown of Quincy, IL for 64 years.
Mr. Kaar was born on October 28, 1915 to Kate McManis Kaar and Grover Cleveland Kaar in Wallace Idaho. He was a Lake County resident for the last 40 years of his life.
Mr. Kaar was raised in Havana, Cuba and graduated from high school at the Augusta Military Academy in Virginia. He attended the University of Illinois, where he studied engineering. In 1950, he received a BA degree in history from Quincy College.
Mr. Kaar was employed in his early years as a Farm Manager by the United Fruit Company, managing banana plantations in Panama and Costa Rica. This was interrupted by service in the Army, where he served in the Pacific Theatre, during World War II. In 1950, he joined the Gardner Denver Company, where he was employed for 34 years, retiring in 1984. He was recognized as the outstanding salesman several times during his career.
For most of his adult life, he was involved in Boy Scouting, having served as a Scoutmaster, OA Lodge Advisor, Commissioner and in the area of adult training. He was a four bead Wood Badger and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in 1973 by the Chicago Area Council.
In 1990, Mr. Kaar was presented the Fred MacKenzie Award as the Volunteer of the year by Condell Memorial Hospital. He gave 4761 volunteer hours.
Mr. Kaar was a Royal Arch Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen; five children, Joseph (Kathy) Kaar of Magnolia, AR, John (Alison) Kaar of Lebanon, OH, Joan Kaar of Lake Villa, James (Denise) Kaar of Grayslake and Jill (Jerry) Hanson of Lindenhurst; six grandchildren, Kimberly, David, Daniel, Taylor, Andrew and Lillian; three great-grandchildren, Laura, Joey and Hannah; his sister, Frances Archibald of Chula Vista, CA.
Services will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 26th, at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville, with the Rev. J. D. Miller, officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday.

Ruth M. Kirkegaard
Ruth M. Kirkegaard, 70, of Lake Geneva, WI, formerly of Waukegan, died Wednesday, March 23, 21005 at Eagle River Hospital in Eagle River, WI. The former Ruth Josephsen was born September 9, 1939 in Libertyville, IL, the daughter of Alfred and Agnes (Wheeler) Josephsen. She was a graduate of Libertyville High School.
She married
Peder Kirkegaard on September 7, 1956 in Lake Forest, IL.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Peder; four children, Kim (Vicki) Kirkegaard of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Ingrid Kirkegaard of Land O' Lakes, WI, Katherine (Carl) Paglini of Twin Lakes, WI, and Mark Kirkegaard of Eagle River, WI; four grandchildren, Tracy, Brian, and Karl Kirkegaard and Christopher Saver; two sisters, Ann Bates and Jean Rose of Land O' Lakes; and two brothers, Edward Josephsen of Wadsworth, IL, and Alan Josephsen of Lake Forest, IL.
Services will be Saturday, March 26, 11:00 a.m. at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home and Crematory in Lake Geneva, WI. Pastor Mark Moller-Gunderson of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. The Kirkegaard family will receive visitors Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Beloved wife of the late Pedro. Loving mother of Delia (the late Alfredo) Villafuerte of San Benito, TX, Arthur (Anne) of Milwaukee, WI, Rosa (Alejandro) Garcia of Waukegan, IL, John of Milwaukee, WI, Ignacio "Vito" (Esperanza) of Milwaukee, WI, Santa Linda (Michael) Butchko of Mesquite, NV, Hilda (Miguel) Gomez of Zion, IL and Mary Lou Martinez of Milwaukee, WI. Grandmother of 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law of Josefina Gonzalez and Benita Gonzalez. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral service for LaVerne Peschke (nee Rakittke), 81, of Libertyville, formerly of Mundelein is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 W. Park Ave., Libertyville, IL 60048. Interment will follow at Willow Lawn Memorial Park, Vernon Hills.
She was born May 27, 1923 in Medford, WI and died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Manor Care of Libertyville. Lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Tomas Sanchez
Tomas Sanchez, 86, of Waukegan passed away March 22, 2005 at Victory Hospital, Waukegan. Born March 1, 1919 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He was a member of Holy Family Parish.
He is survived by a son, Tomas Sanchez Jr. (Iris M.); two grandchildren, Angela M. and Tomas; a great-granddaughter, Amada Christina; sisters, Carmen (Miguel) Rodriguez, Dolores (Manolo) Nieves, Maria (Modesto) Alvarez; brother, Luis M. (Elba) Sanchez; and many nieces and nephews who will miss "Uncle Tommy".

Stella Schiavi
Stella Schiavi, 87, of Long Grove, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the Westchester House in Libertyville. She was born May 6, 1917 in Niagara Falls, NY, was raised in Batavia, NY and was a former 30 year resident of DesPlaines, IL. She was a former member of St. Stephens Parish and a former employee of the Siemens Gammasonic Co., both of DesPlaines.
Stellas was cherished as a wonderful mother who loved her family and enjoyed helping raise her grandchildren.
She is survived by seven children, Robert (Roni) Schiavi and Charles (Joan) Schiavi, both of Las Vegas, Beverly (Joseph) Jezowski of Long Grove, Sharon (Bill) Howard of Bensenville, Donald (Dixine) Schiavi of Anchorage, AK, Ronald Schiavi of Winthrop Harbor and Eric Schiavi of Waukegan; nineteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren and her sister, Sophie Drobek of Rochester, NY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Angelina Kawacz; by her husband, Edigio "Jiggs" Schiavi on July 1, 1979, by her daughter Maxine Hilger; four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Noon, Friday, March 25, 2005 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rte 176) Libertyville, with the Rev. Fr. John Finnegan, officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints cemetery in DesPlaines. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of services on Friday.

Robert W. Sutfin
Robert W. Sutfin, 86, of Waukegan went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2005.
He was born April 26, 1918 in Joliet, Illinois.
Robert served in World War II and was honorably discharged having attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. While in the Army, he married
Genevieve Dow on May 2, 1943. Upon his death, Robert and Genevieve were married
for 61 years.
He was employed by Joyce 7-Up Bottling Corporation for 42 years, retiring in 1981.
Robert is survived by his wife Genevieve, daughter, Betty (Steve) Martin of Wadsworth; four grandchildren, Shane (Jennifer) Mahaffee of Gurnee, Timothy (Tracy) Martin of Grayslake, Brian (Leah) Martin of Waukegan and Amy (Erik) Mennecke of Wadsworth, and five great grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, Kyle, Adelia and Ethan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Sutfin. Robert was the best husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather a family could have.
Services will be private.

Edward W. Gengnagel
Edward W. Gengnagel, 73, of Libertyville, IL passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born December 4, 1930 in Butler, Indiana and had been a Libertyville resident for the past 36 years. He was a 1949 graduate of Butler High School and attended Indiana University in Fort Wayne. Ed was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Libertyville. He was a Regional Sales Manager for the Glass Division of Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1986 and following retirement, Ed took a job that would create many memories and lasting friendships. He was the starter at Kemper Lakes Golf Course in Long Grove for 18 years.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy, a former Libertyville elementary school teacher; two daughters, Sally (John) Gillihan of Carmel, IN and Susan (Vic) Raibikis of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, Matthew and David Gillihan and Jack and Kesley Raibikis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Julia Gengnagel; and by his sister, Ruth Chesky.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at the Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Valley Park Drive, Libertyville with Pastor Gordon Cavers officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Joseph Grahovac Jr.
Joseph Grahovac Jr., age 60, a lifelong resident of Gurnee, died March 20, 2004 at Pinnacle Health Care. He was born August 7, 1943 in Gurnee.
He was a member of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Third Lake. He was a retiree of Commonwealth Edison after 22 years of service from 1975-1997. He was a graduate of Warren Township High School 1961, past director and active member of the Kenosha Charter Harley Owners Group (HOG).
He is survived by two sons, Joseph Grahovac III and Jeffrey (Charlotte) Grahovac; two grandchildren, Emmaline Grace and Trenton Pierce Grahovac; mother, Jennie Grahovac,; two sisters, Bernice (Tom) Franks and Eileen (Bob) Lis; his former wife, Jane Grahovac-Noren; two nephews, Paul Peterson and Berndt Peterson Jr.; and one niece, Kelly Lis.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 11 AM. Burial at Holy Mary Mother of God cemetery, Third Lake. Visitation from 5 to 9 PM Wednesday and 9:30 to 10:30 AM Thursday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 305 cemetery Rd., Gurnee.

Richard Mynor Jr.
Richard Mynor, 50, of Waukegan, passed away at Victory Memorial Hospital on November 28, 2003. He was born on March 23, 1953 and lived in this area all of his life.
Rick is survived by his father, Richard Sr.; one sister, Michelle; one brother, Steve; and three sons, Ricky III, Bradley, and Christopher; and two grandchildren, all of Waukegan.
Ricky will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Mynor.
Dale A. Poulsen
Dale A. Poulsen, 71, of Lake Villa, IL passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, March 21, 2004. He was born in Winthrop Harbor, IL, the son of the late Alexander and Louise (nee King) Poulsen. He grew up in Winthrop Harbor, and after a brief stay in Idaho, returned to Illinois, moving to Lake Villa in 1966 and married
Marlene Lorence. She passed away in 1998. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was retired from OMC Johnson Motors after 27 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, DeAnn (Randy) Springer of McHenry, IL; and sons, Greg (Audrie) Poulsen of Lake Villa and Michael (Ann) Poulsen of Round Lake; his grandchildren, Kristopher, Tim, Danny and Victoria; and his brother, Burt (Gloria) Poulsen of Racine, WI.

She was born December 25, 1914 in Waukegan, IL.
She was active at the Senior Citizens Center of Waukegan.
Survived by her daughters, Geri Jacobson of Los Angeles, CA and Leslie Gessler of Gurnee; a brother, Victor (Mary) Nagode of Detroit, MI; and a son-in-law, John Howlett of Gurnee.

Edward "Ed" Sibiski, Sr.
Edward "Ed" Sibiski, Sr., 64, of Zion died on Friday, March 19, 2004 at the Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, IL.
Ed was born September 27, 1939 in Chicago and resided in the Zion area most of his life. He wed Noreen Drinkwine on April 9, 1960 in Winthrop Harbor, IL. Ed was a member of the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667 and the Roofer's Local #11 in Berwyn, IL. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a loving family man.
Survivors include his wife, Noreen; three sons, Edward Sibiski Jr. of Zion, James Sibiski of Kenosha, WI and Tom (Melanie) Sibiski of Hoffman Estates, IL; a daughter, Rene (Craig) Dudick of Winthrop Harbor; four grandchildren, Heather, Cassie and Zoe Sibiski and Craig Ryan Dudick; two brothers, Richard (Helen) Sibiski of Round Lake, IL and Robert Sibiski of Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Martha Sibiski; a sister, Dolores McCauley; and two step brothers, Wayne and Kenny Westman.

Joseph L. Stupar
Joseph L. Stupar, 77, a life long resident of Waukegan died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at the Pavilion of Waukegan. He was born in Waukegan, March 16, 1927, graduated from Waukegan Township High School, Class of 1944, joined the United States Army, was a veteran of World War II, and retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1987 after 35 years of service. Joe was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, St. Joseph Lodge #53 K.S.K.J., the American Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzen and was a volunteer at St. Therese Hospital and Immaculate Conception functions.
Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan (nee Jorgensen); four sons, Anthony (Kathy) Stupar of Winthrop Harbor, Joseph (Mary Anne) Stupar of Ingleside, IL, Frank (Vicki) Stupar of Park City and Jeffrey (Cassandra) Stupar of Racine, WI; two daughters, Diane (Gregory) Carlson of Winthrop Harbor and Kathleen (Thomas) Govekar of Zion; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Anne) Stupar of Waukegan; and two sisters, Olga Zorc and Elsie Stupar of Gurnee.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 23, 2004 from 4 to 7 PM at THE SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, Waukegan. Interment will follow to Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.
