Steffie Ruta, 89, of Waukegan, IL passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004 at Pinnacle HealthCare.
She was born December 25, 1914 in Waukegan, IL.
She was active at the Senior Citizens Center of Waukegan.
Survived by her daughters, Geri Jacobson of Los Angeles, CA and Leslie Gessler of Gurnee; a brother, Victor (Mary) Nagode of Detroit, MI; and a son-in-law, John Howlett of Gurnee.
preceded in death by her loving husband, William Ruta; a daughter, Janet Howlett; brothers, Joseph and Louis; and her parents, Andrew and Helen Nagode.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday in the MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL, 847-336-0127. Interment Ascension cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of services in the funeral home.

Edward "Ed" Sibiski, Sr.
Edward "Ed" Sibiski, Sr., 64, of Zion died on Friday, March 19, 2004 at the Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, IL.
Ed was born September 27, 1939 in Chicago and resided in the Zion area most of his life. He wed Noreen Drinkwine on April 9, 1960 in Winthrop Harbor, IL. Ed was a member of the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667 and the Roofer's Local #11 in Berwyn, IL. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a loving family man.
Survivors include his wife, Noreen; three sons, Edward Sibiski Jr. of Kenosha, WI and Tom (Melanie) Sibiski of Hoffman Estates, IL; a daughter, Rene (Craig) Dudick of Winthrop Harbor; four grandchildren, Heather, Cassie and Zoe Sibiski and Craig Ryan Dudick; two brothers, Richard (Helen) Sibiski of Round Lake, IL and Robert Sibiski of Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Martha Sibiski; a sister, Dolores McCauley; and two step brothers, Wayne and Kenny Westman.
An Interment Service will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at 11 AM in the chapel at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, 1436 N. Kenosha Rd., Zion. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 22, 2004 from 5 to 8 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. 847-746-1234.

Joseph L. Stupar
Joseph L. Stupar, 77, a life long resident of Waukegan died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at the Pavilion of Waukegan. He was born in Waukegan, March 16, 1927, graduated from Waukegan Township High School, Class of 1944, joined the United States Army, was a veteran of World War II, and retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1987 after 35 years of service. Joe was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, St. Joseph Lodge #53 K.S.K.J., the American Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzen and was a volunteer at St. Therese Hospital and Immaculate Conception functions.
Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan (nee Jorgensen); four sons, Anthony (Kathy) Stupar of Winthrop Harbor, Joseph (Mary Anne) Stupar of Ingleside, IL, Frank (Vicki) Stupar of Park City and Jeffrey (Cassandra) Stupar of Racine, WI; two daughters, Diane (Gregory) Carlson of Winthrop Harbor and Kathleen (Thomas) Govekar of Zion; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Anne) Stupar of Waukegan; and two sisters, Olga Zorc and Elsie Stupar of Gurnee.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 23, 2004 from 4 to 7 PM at THE SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, Waukegan. Interment will follow to Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.

Robert B. Welsh, Sr.
Robert B. Welsh, Sr., of Winthrop Harbor, IL, formerly of Paddock Lake, WI, passed away March 19, 2004 at his home. He was born June 13, 1946 in Elkhorn, WI and was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Zion, IL. Bob was a retired Chief, he served proudly for 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He was employed with the San Diego City College for the past 20 years as an instructor at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago.
Survivors include his loving wife, Caryn; three children, a son, Robert Jr. (Amy) of Sturgeon Bay, WI, a daughter, Kelly (Haris) Siddiqui of Des Plaines, IL, a son, Brian Welsh of Kenosha, WI; a step son, Michael Kauss of Winthrop Harbor; and step daughter, Juliann Kauss of Waukegan; three grandchildren, Amann Siddiqui, Brandon and Tyler Kauss; a brother, Donald (Lynda) Welsh of Janesville, WI; and a sister, Susan (Tom) Sippin of Milwaukee, WI.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Welsh and Iris Brown; and a brother, John Welsh.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at 11 AM at the Salata-Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave, Gurnee, IL. Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 AM till time of service. Burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested for Our Lady of Humility Building Fund, 847-872-8778.

Ethaline Ozzie Barrett
Ethaline Ozzie Barrett, of North Chicago, IL died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at St. Therese Hospital.
Ozzie was born May 20, 1923 in Wacissa, Florida and spent most of her life as a resident of North Chicago. She was an active member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church for over 50 years, and she served on the Nurses Guild and was part of the Flower Club, until her illness no longer allowed her to attend. Ozzie accepted Christ at a very early age. She was a very loving mother, and spent all of her life serving and giving to others.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Barrett-Green of North Chicago, Patricia Walker of Waukegan; a son-in-law, Ralph Green of North Chicago; a granddaughter, Temperance Walker of Chicago, IL; seven sisters, Virginia (Edwynne) Ford of North Chicago, IL, sisters in Florida, Doris (Alford) Ellick, Janie (Johnny) Johnson, Doris Tillman, Paulthina Tarton and Mary Lee, Mable Lawson of California; five brothers, Floyd (Patricia) Bowens of Waukegan, IL, brothers out of state include Calvin (Vera) Bowens, Joe (Fannie) Bowens, Rumel (Diane) Bowens and Jessie Bowens; a special cousin in Florida, Dorothy Manning; and a host of relatives and friends.
Ozzie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Barrett; her mother, Janie Ross Bowens; and brother, Samuel Bowens; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 10 AM, 1436 North Kenosha Road, Zion, IL. Pastor Gerald Wilcoxon officiating. Interment is private.

Carol Cheeseman
Carol Cheeseman of Lindenhurst, IL, formerly of North Chicago, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan.
She married Charles A. Cheeseman on July 19, 1972 in Lake Forest, Illinois and her hobbies included crafts. Carol had been employed as a secretary at Holy Rosary School in North Chicago until the school closed a number of years ago.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; five children, Carolyn (Arnold) Sizemore of Lexington, KY, David Ladewig of Grayslake, William Eca of Centralia, IL, Robert Eca of North Chicago and Kimberly (Richard) Falls of Lindenhurst, IL; eight grandchildren; a great grandchild; two brothers, Dennis (Heidi) Verenski of North Chicago and William (Roselia) Verenski of Tucson, AZ.
She was preceded in death by a great grandson, Allen Olson in 2004; as well as her parents, Walter and Evelyn Verenski.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee with Fr. Paul J. Cull officiating. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and 9:30 AM Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home.

John J. Gerchar
John J. Gerchar, 94, of Waukegan, IL passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005. He was born on November 27, 1910 in Waukegan.
John retired from Johnson Outboard after 37 years of employment. He was a member of the Slovenian Hall in North Chicago and a long time member of Holy Family Church (formerly St. Joseph's) in Waukegan.
He is survived by two sons, John III of Waukegan and Joseph (Roxanne) of Key Largo, FL; a grandson, Jonathan of Key Largo, Florida; three brothers, Rudolph, Bill and Riggs; a sister, Mildred; and many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine in 2003; and two sisters, Agnes and Sophie.

Irene Elizabeth Hutmacher
Irene Elizabeth Hutmacher, 69, of Libertyville, IL passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005 at her home. She was born August 12, 1935 in Chicago, where she lived until moving with her family to Libertyville in 1970. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish for 35 years and was active in the church Women's Guild. Irene was a former volunteer for the Auxiliary of Condell Medical Center and loved to travel to the family condo on Fort Myers Beach in Florida.
She was the loving mother of four daughters, Deb (Glen) Korff of Arlington Heights, Kim (Bill) Magna of Round Lake, Jeanne (Jim) Merlo of Libertyville and Teri McDonough of Mundelein; devoted grandmother of Kassandra and Billy Magna, Jimmy and Bobby Merlo, Kathryn, Matthew and Anne Korff, and Brian and Morgan McDonough. Also surviving are many sister and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Irene was the devoted and loving wife of Robert Hutmacher, who passed away in 2000 and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this November. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Irene Tuke; by her brothers, Bob and Bill; and sisters, Marie and Margie.
Prayers will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 22 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville and services will continue to St. Joseph Church for funeral Mass at 11 AM. Charles Kasper
Charles Kasper, 79, of Waukegan passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at the Pavilion of Waukegan. He was born January 19, 1926 in North Chicago and remained a lifelong area resident.
He was a member of St. Anastasia Parish and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had worked as a laboratory Technician at Great Lakes Hospital laboratory for 27 years and retired from the Lake County Health Department after 17 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Delia (nee Giampaolo); children, Jeffery (Lisa) Kasper of Gurnee and Carolyn (Kevin) Scheck of Wheaton, IL; four grandchildren, Kristina and Michael Kasper, Kathleen and Kelli Scheck; two sisters, Nancy (James) Johnson of Palm Springs, CA and Janene (Richard) Hembroff of Crown Point, IN; three sisters-in-law, Emily Giampaolo, Jane Giampaolo and Jean Giampaolo Hunt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mae (nee Ciombar) Kasper; and his sister, Lorraine Kasper Stewart.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Ave, Waukegan. Entombment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Friends may call at PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd, Waukegan on Monday from 5 to 8 PM. 847-623-0495.

Shawn Lisa Mullen
Shawn Lisa Mullen, 42, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Waukegan, passed away March 7, 2005 in Las Vegas. She attended Waukegan High School and moved to Las Vegas in 1993.
Survivors include her son Raymond Ruiz, Mother Joan Lindberg, sister Cheryce (Tony) Damron, brother Gary Mullen and her long time friend, Robert Barker, nephews Grant and Sam Mullen and nieces Courtney Mullen and Amber Damron.
She was preceded in death by her son's father Raymond "Beaver" Ruiz and grandparents George and Pearl Rause.
Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Grave side Services will be private.

Stephanie M. Myrick
Stephanie M. Myrick, 91, past away March 20, 2005 at the Pavilion of Waukegan. She was born on May 14, 1913 in Waukegan, IL where she also resided. She was a great cook at local business and restaurants such as Ted's, U.S. Steel, John's Manville, Glen Flora Golf Club and the Illinois Beach State Park. Stephanie graduated from Waukegan High School.
She is survived by her brother, Adolph (Tony) Auzis. Stephanie was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Myrick; her parents, Anthony and Mariona Auzis; two sisters, Josephine Benson and Bernice Phillips; and two nieces, Roberta Cotterell and Mariona Stoesslein.
Visitation will be Monday, March 21, 2005 from 5-8 PM and Tuesday, March 22, 2005 from 10-11 AM at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 AM at Marsh Funeral Home. Burial at North Shore Garden of Memories.

Amanda Powell
Amanda Powell was born on December 31, 1946 in Aberdeen, Miss to Joseph and Mary Dyson. On March 16, 2005, Amanda lost her battle and claimed her victory!
Amanda leaves six children to cherish her precious memory, Antoinette of Arlington Heights, IL, Timothy of Hammond, IN, Latonia, Drenda Russell (Farrah) and Nicole, all of Bloomingdale, IL; mother, Mary Etta Dyson; three sisters, Joanne Brewer of Carol Stream, IL, Mary Helen Yates of Jacksonville, FL and Linda Dyson of Wheeling, IL; one brother, Larry Dyson of North Chicago, IL; one uncle, Willie C. (Catherine) of Tucson, Arizona; 12 grandchildren.
Amanda was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Dyson; grandmother, Amanda Moody; brother, Willie Cecil Dyson; and long time companion, Leonard Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Robert C. Proctor
Robert C. Proctor, age 53, of Mundelein, IL died Thursday, March 17, 2005. He was born in Berwyn, IL on February 14, 1952.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to camp, fish, and travel. Interests include Indians, wolves, country music and Marytown Seminary.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Proctor; father, Carl Proctor; two sisters, Christine (Jay) VanDuzer and Sharon (Ken) Johnson; eight nieces; two nephews; one great nephew; one great-niece, Aunt Lillian Dryborough, many cousins, and fiancee Bambi Scholz.

Herbert C. Pyles, Sr.
Herbert C. Pyles, Sr., a 76-year-old Libertyville resident, passed away early Monday morning, March 21, 2005 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born in Lebanon, PA on January 17, 1929. Herbert made a career of the U.S. Army, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, Vietnam and was in the army of occupation during World War II.
Survivors include his children, Herbert C. (Deborah) Pyles Jr. of Gurnee, Richard A. (Shawn) Pyles of Sioux City, IA, Dorothy A. (John) Redmond of Ingleside, Donna L. (Tim) McKeever of Spring Grove, Chris (Terri) Pyles of Antioch and Walter C. (Gale) Pyles of Round Lake; his 18 grandchildren; his 15 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Kenneth Pyles, Dick Hammer, Jim Hammer and Jeannette Landis.
His mother, Ruth Hammer, daughter-in-law, Linda Pyles; and great granddaughter, Taylor Pyles preceded him in death.
Friends of the family may visit on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 from 3 to 6 PM at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL, 60030. Joan Stepneck
Joan Stepneck, 76, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, March 6, 2005.
Graveside services were held at 10 AM Wednesday, March 9th in Memory Gardens cemetery with Monsignor Joseph Tash of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church officiating. Arrangements were by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.
Mrs. Stepneck moved to Amarillo in 1976 from Lubbock. She had taught school for civil service and also taught in Amarillo schools. She married George Stepneck on February 21, 1958 in France. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 25, 2001 in Amarillo.
Survivors include a son, George (LaShawn) Stepneck of Amarillo; a grandson, Jason Stepneck of Amarillo; and a brother, George Crawford of Palatka, FL.
