Patricia L. Flynn
Patricia L. Flynn (nee Boyle), 63, of Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of the Waukegan/Gurnee area passed away July 25, 2001 in Las Vegas.
She was born in Chicago, IL. on February 21, 1938 and had moved to Las Vegas May 1. She retired from the Xerox Corporation and was currently employed at Fujisawa Pharmaceuticals in Deerfield, IL.
Survivors include her husband John Flynn, a son Andres (Patricia) Flynn, a daughter Robin (Kevin) Mullane, granddaughter Karina Swaney, grandsons William Gordon, Richard Gordon and Johnathan Flynn, a great grandson Ethan Swaney, brothers Neil (Mary Jane) Boyle, James (Jaclyn) Boyle, Richard (Carolyn) Boyle, Terrence Boyle and Patrick (Kathy) Boyle and sisters Veronica (the late Robert) Zogman, Paula Cody, Jane Boyle and Miriam Boyle, a special cousin Arthur (Avis) Nelson and a very special friend, Burton. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James W. Boyle and Helen Simcox Boyle, a brother John (Margaret) Boyle and a sister Rita Boyle.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul The Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL. on Saturday, August 25, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. Family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Illinois Elks Association of Crippled Children's Corporation (IEACCC), c/o Waukegan Elks, 2744 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, IL. 60085. Burial will be private.

Charles Noel Fulton
Charles Noel Fulton died unexpectedly on August 2, 2001, he was 78. Chuck was born in Zion, IL. where he spent his first 30 years. Moving to Menlo Park, CA in 1952. He served in the US Navy during W W II, and retired from United Air Lines after 32 years of service as Supervisor of the Electronics Components Division. He was an avid Sprint Car Racing fan owning one earlier in his life. He enjoyed building models of large historic ships.
He is survived by his daughter and grandson. Cindy and David Windstead plus a host of close friends.
Private family services were held, with interment in Mt. Olive in Zion with his wife June.

John Furlan
John Furlan, 67, of Zion, formerly of Waukegan, died Sunday, August 19, 2001 at Victory Memorial Hospital. He was born March 13, 1934 in Waukegan, and lived in this area all of his life.
John graduated from Waukegan Township High School, Class of 1952, and attended University of Illinois, Champaign. He was also a member of Our Lady of Humility Church.
John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan (nee Ruiz); a son, John of Beach Park, IL; a daughter, Cynthia (Jay) Metallo of Kenosha, WI; a granddaughter, Julia; a brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Furlan of Wadsworth; and uncle, Edward (Pat) Zelesnik and an aunt, Jennie Zelesnik both of Gurnee.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia (nee Rupnik).
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL.
Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon Thursday, August 23, 2001 with the Rev. Paul J. Cull officiating. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL.

Walter Lee Jefferson, Sr.
Walter Lee Jefferson, Sr., "Jeff", age 76, of North Chicago, IL passed away on Friday, August 17, 2001 at the Provena St. Therese Medical Center, Waukegan, IL.
He was the son of John and Elnora Candy Jefferson who was born in West Point, MS. As a young man Jeff entered the United States Navy and completed 34 years of service. He was retired form the City of North Chicago with 12 years of service.
Jeff leaves to cherish his memory his living wife of 42 years, Ann E. Phifer Jefferson; three sons, Walter L. (Renee) Jefferson, Ocie Phifer and Omar Phifer Porter, Renee Jefferson and Linda Vaughn Lafi; a daughter in law, Donna Phifer; a sister, Mary Jane King of Indianapolis, IN; a special friend and a sister in law, Shebyll V. McGill; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; also many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by three sisters, and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2001 at the Bradshaw & Range Funeral Home, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL.
Chaplain Randall C. Hutchinson, officiating. Interment will be at the Ft. Sheridan Post cemetery, Ft. Sheridan, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. 847-662-3553

Charles "Tod" Maplethorpe
Charles "Tod" Maplethorpe, 75, of Antioch, IL passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at his home. He was born November 30, 1925 in Waukegan, IL, the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Pollock) Maplethorpe and has been a life long resident of Antioch.
He served in the U. S. Army in the Field Artillery during World War II and had worked at Hough International Harvester. He retired as the Superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Antioch where he had worked for over 30 years. In appreciation for his dedicated service, the community room in the village hall was named in his honor. Tod was an Antioch Fireman from 1946 until 2001 serving as Chief for 23 years. He had the recent honor of having the new Station #2 named in his honor. His many associations included, member of the United Methodist Church, the National and Illinois Association of Fire Chiefs, a founder of the Lake County Fire Chiefs, The Sequoit Masonic Lodge #827, The Lakes Region Historical Society and the Antioch Grade School Board of Education. On December 15, 1957, he married Carol Bean in Antioch.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; a son, Paul (Kelly) Maplethorpe of Round Lake, IL; and a daughter, Ruth (Dave) Johnson of Dixon, IL; a brother, James (Vivian) Maplethorpe of Antioch; six grandchildren, Kara, Amy, Scott and Erik Maplethorpe and Marielizabeth and Patrick Johnson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur; and a sister, Mary Jean.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 24, 2001 at the United Methodist Church, 848 Main St., Antioch. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch.
Friends may call at the church from 9 AM Friday until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Antioch Fire Department or the United Methodist Church of Antioch, in his memory. Arrangements are entrusted to the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH. Info: 847-395-4000.

Deloris I. Matranga
Funeral Services for Deloris I. Matranga (nee Kawell), 78, of Round Lake Beach, Illinois will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the KRISTAN FUNERAL HOME, P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (Route 176) Mundelein. Interment will follow in Ivanhoe cemetery.
Deloris was born November 10, 1922 in Chicago and died Monday, August 20, 2001 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Deloris is survived by her 3 children: Ann (Ronald) Kedzie of Chicago, Joseph Matranga of Round Lake Beach and Daniel (Karen) Matranga of Mundelein, and 3 grandchildren Lindsey, Michael and Erin. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel and her son William.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services from 9-11 A.M. at the funeral home.

Margaret Mauser (nee Staack)
Margaret Mauser (nee Staack) age 90, a resident of Leisure Village, Fox Lake and Ingleside, IL for the past 10 years, and a former resident of Rock Island, died Tuesday August 21, 2001 in Lindenhurst.
She was born on April 20, 1911 in Eggstadt Germany and was a homemaker, who enjoyed playing bridge, cooking and baking for her family.
Survivors include: her daughters: Betty (Donald) Callaby of Ingleside IL., with whom she made her home, and Pauline (David) Wright of Arvada, Colorado; by her grandchildren; Gregg (Joanna) Callaby of Ingleside, IL., Todd (Carolynn) Callaby of Spring Grove, IL, Christopher (Linda) Wright of Henderson, Colorado, Kenneth (Sherrie) Wright of San Diego, California; by three great grandchildren, Caleb Callaby, Sarah Callaby and Samantha Callaby.
She was preceded by her late husband: Albert C. Mauser, and by brothers, and sisters.
Friends of the family may call Thursday August 23, 2001, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the K.K. HAMSHER FUNERAL HOME, 12 N. Pistakee Lk, Rd. Fox Lake IL. (The Chapel on the Lake).
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening with the Rev. Paul Weeg officiating.
Interment following services will be private.
Memorials for the Victory Lakes Care Center Sunshine Wing (2nd floor) 1055 E. Grand Ave. Lindenhurst IL 60046 will be appreciated by the family.

Anthony "Snake" Miller
Anthony "Snake" Miller, age 35, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away August 16, 2001 in Waukegan. He was born August 12, 1966.
Survivors include his mother, Anna Tuquabo of Waukegan, 2 sisters: Gina (James) Swan of Waukegan and Felicia Miller of Waukegan; 2 brothers: Matthew Tuquabo of Waukegan and Glen Johnson of North Chicago, 1 uncle Julian (Mary Anne) Miller of Waukegan, and 2 aunts: Lillie (Jessie Orsey of North Chicago and Mary Miller of Waukegan. He was preceded in death by his father, grandfather 2 uncles and 1 cousin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery, Zion, Illinois. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. only at the funeral home.

Obdulio Moreno
Obdulio Moreno, 68, of Mundelein, IL, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born December 5, 1932 in Bogota, Colombia and came to live in the United States in 1960. He was a former resident of Evanston and Arlington Heights and has lived in Mundelein for the past seven years. He was a member of St. Mary of Vernon Parish in Indian Creek and was a retired Data Processing Manger for the Ram Golf Corp. in Melrose Park.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Moreno; four children, Henado (Carmen) Moreno of Wauconda, Stella (Monte) Sellers of Arlington Heights, Alfredo Moreno of River Forest and David Moreno of Englewood, CO; five grandchildren, Dieter, Carsten and Simone Moreno; Stephanie and Kyle Sellers; six sisters, Marina, Isabel, Mary, Lilia, Cecelia and Miriam.
Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. Friday, August 24 at BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave., (Rt. 176) Libertyville and services will continue to St. Mary of Vernon Parish for funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. Info: 847-362-3009

Merlin Otto Petroff Sr.
Merlin Otto Petroff Str., 90, of Ingleside Care Center in Hockessin, DE and formerly of Round Lake, died August 13, 2001 at Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington, DE.
He was born on March 6, 1911 in Clare, MI. On April 25, 1935 he married Margaret A. Petroff in Cleveland, OH.
Born in Michigan, Mr. Petroff was educated at the University of Florida and also in Colorado. He was an electrical engineer with Collins Radio in Iowa during WWII, and then with Stewart Warner Company for over eight years in Chicago. In 1951 he opened his own consulting and inventing firm, Petroff Laboratories in Grayslake, which he ran for over 20 years. His most personally gratifying invention was an electronic organ he designed for the Kimball Piano Company. After retiring from consulting, he had a second career as a Realtor in the greater Round Lake area.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Elizabeth (Dr. Richard Pioli) Petroff of Amherst, MA, and Elinore (Frederick) Barney of Hockessin, DE; his son, Merlin O. (Susan) Petroff, Jr. of Fort Washington, MD; five grandchildren, Stephen Jordan, Scott (Ruth) Jordan, Amanda (Patrick) Jordan-Chiste, Alissa Jordan and Anna Petroff; four great-grandchildren, Christina Jones and Sarah Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A. Petroff on January 25, 1997; and his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2001 at Avon Centre cemetery in Grayslake.
Local arrangements were entrusted to Justen's Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 North Rosedale Court (at Cedar Lake Road), Round Lake, IL 60073.

Art Revis
Art Revis, 77, formerly of Zion and presently of Chicago Heights, died August 17, 2001 at the Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Art was born September 5, 1923 in Waukegan to the late Charles and Flora Revis, attended the Zion schools and served in the Army Corps of Engineers during WW II. He owned and operated Comfort Engineering in Zion for many years, and retired as an insurance agent and mortgage broker. Art also considered himself an inventor, and at one time was an officer in the Inventors Council of Iowa.
Art is survived by his wife, Angela; five children: Susan (Rick) Parks of Florida, Nelson Revis of Minnesota, George (Xingming Song) Revis of Waukegan, Cynthia Lu Cowsert of Springfield, MO., and Walter (Jennifer) Revis of Libertyville, IL.; four grandchildren: Kathleen Cowsert and Stephen, Geoffrey and Lisa Revis; and three brothers: Charles (Dorothy) Revis of Zion, Cal (Elsie) Revis of Waukegan and John (Linnea) Revis of Horsehoe Bend, AR. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joy Revis.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2001 at 11:30 A.M. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Visitation after 10:30 A.M. Saturday. Please omit flowers.
