Alois Wieser
Alois Wieser, age 79 of Grayslake, died Monday, August 21, 2006 at his home. He was born in Austria on September 20, 1926 to Josef & Anna (nee Berthold) Wieser.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Maria (nee Weghofer); his sons Joe (Nancy) Wieser of Lake Villa and Bob (Marianne) Wieser of Johnsburg; his brother Joe Wieser of Indiana; and his seven grandchildren Chris, Paul, Kevin, Erica, Alan, Jeff, and Robin.
His aforementioned parents, his son Lou, and his grandson James precede him in death.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 24 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be privately held. Ruby Sara Roberts (nee Enlow)
Ruby Sarah Roberts (nee Enlow), 88, of Waukegan died on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Winchester House in Libertyville.
Ruby is survived by her son, Lee (Deanna) Roberts of Gurnee; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Roberts (nee Wilson) of California; her son-in-law, Ken Holverson of Gurnee; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan Ray (nee Enlow) of Florida; her brother, Howard (Janet) Enlow of Wadsworth; and many Otterbacher and Enlow nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her son, Harold "Butch" Roberts; her daughter, Diann Holverson (nee Roberts); one sister, Rachel Kuxhausen (nee Enlow); and her parents, J. Wesley and Minnie (nee Otterbacher) Enlow.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2006, at 10:30a.m. at Mr. Olivet Memorial Park, 1436 Kenosha Road, Zion. There will be no visitation per Ruby's request. Martina Catherine Smith (nee Michalski)
Martina Catherine Smith (nee Michalski), 82, of Zion, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home on Sunday, August 20, 2006. She was born August 14, 1924, in Loyal, WI to the late William and Margaret Michalski of Marshfield, WI.
Martina was the wife of the late Robert L. "Vern" Smith. They made their home in Zion, IL, where their marriage was blessed with five children. They met while working at the V.A. Hospital in North Chicago, IL. Martina later pursued her nursing career at the old Zion Hotel and then at Sheridan Health Care Center, from which she retired. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Martina enjoyed being at her home and working at her word search and crossword puzzles.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert L. Smith, Jr., (Marilyn Prahl) of Round Lake Beach, IL, Catherine (Terry) Oatsvall of Bristol, WI, David M. Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Casey (Lester Butler) of Zion, IL, William (Pam) Smith of Paw Paw, MI; former son-in-law Edward Casey of Zion; and former daughter-in-law, Betty (Mell) Castillo of Zion, IL. She will also be remembered by eight grandchildren, Melliza Smith (David Bucholz), Michelle (Robert) Mennes, Bethany Smith, Robert Smith (Mary Sutton), Shannon Casey (Jason Carder), and Jenna and Matthew Oatsvall. She leaves eight great grandchildren, Maranda Hile, Joshua, Joclynn and Joseph Mennes, Jasmine Smith and Shayla Carder. Also left with special memories are Martina's two sisters, Lois Michalski and Judy (Dale) Brumbaugh; and brother, Marvin (Lorraine) Michaski. She was the fond sister-in-law of all eight of her husband's siblings, Alma (Dent) Grant, Bonnie Kinley, Patsy Anderson, Marilyn ("Bugs") Durham, Dorothy (Ron) Thompson, Carolyn (John) Grant, Cynthia (Dale) Huegen, and Herbert (Margaret) Smith.
Martina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Bernice (Willard) Wilner, and a brother, Donald (Darlene) Michalski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 25,, 2006 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be Thursday, August 24, from 5-8 pm at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion.

Elmer E. Anderson
Elmer E. Anderson, age 97, of Gurnee, was born January 17, 1909 in Marshall County, MN, he passed away August 20, 2006 in Libertyville, IL.
He was a member of Holy Family (St. Joseph) Church for over 85 years, a member of St. Joseph Church Choir for 65 years, the St. Joseph Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus in Waukegan and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was an engineer with Common wealth Edison for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Mary (nee Burba); his children, Mary (Martin) Gust, Roy (Diane), John and Kathleen (Henry) Burger, 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Conrad, and also many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth, his brother, Roy and his sister, Edna Asma.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 24, 2006 from 9 to 10 am with a Funeral Mass at 10 am at Holy Family Church, 450 Keller Ave., Waukegan. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Stanley Wade Hill
Stanley Wade Hill died suddenly on Monday, August 14, 2006 at the age of 44. He was born on October 28, 1961 to Aneal and Carolyn Hill, at Donaldson Air Force Base in SC.
He attended elementary, junior high, and high school in North Chicago, IL. Graduating from North Chicago High School in June 1980, Stanley enlisted in the United States Army. During his military career Stanley was stationed at Fort Sill, OK, Fort Ord, CA and an overseas tour in Germany.
Stanley had many talents and gifts, but his true passion was cooking. At an early age of seven Stanley's love for preparing food first blossomed when he suggested to his mother that she could use ketchup in her meat loaf when she forgot the tomato paste.
His creative mind and love for food lead him to the Atlanta Culinary Art School in Atlanta, GA. Stanley worked at several well-known restaurants in the Atlanta area such as Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles, Ted's Montana Grill and Pascal's Bistro. Stanley rededicated his life to Jesus and was a member of Open Word Christian Ministries, Inc.
Stanley leaves behind his mother, Carolyn Hill of Union City, GA; two sisters, Zina Moore of Jonesboro, GA; and Terry Ann Hill of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Richard Hill of Glen Burnie, MD; four nieces and nephews. Locally he leaves an uncle and aunt, Arland and Mary Hooper of North Chicago, IL and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Monday, August 21 in Fairburn, Georgia.

Stephanie Bobrowski (nee Borodzik)
Stephanie Bobrowski (nee Borodzik), beloved wife of the late Anthony "Bob" Bobrowski, died peacefully at her home in Park City, IL on Wednesday, August 22, 2001. She as born August 14, 1917 in Hillsboror, IL and resided in North Chicago for many years before moving to Park City.
She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Rosary Church.
She is survived by her son Robert (May Ann) Bobrowski of Lincoln, NE and Joan (the late James) Sasavage of Long Valley, NJ; also five grandchildren, Tom(Darcie) Bobrowski, Mary Beth (Richard) Palmer, Linda (Scott) Stacey, Leslie (Anthony) Veneziano and Jennifer Sasavage, and great grandchildren, Nathan, Austin Bobrowski, Nickolas, Jacob Palmer, A.J. Stacey, Anthony, Stephanie Veneziano; special friends, Gregory and Kathy Zupec, Keith and Stacey Zupec, Todd and Tara Zupec, Scott Zupec and Tina Zupec. She is also survived by several friends and relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2001 at Queen of Peace Church with interment to be held at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Salata Gurnee Funeral Home 4190 Grand Avenue, Gurnee.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Rush Hospice Partners, 1035 Madison St., Oak Park, IL 60302.

Patricia L. Flynn
Patricia L. Flynn (nee Boyle), 63, of Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of the Waukegan/Gurnee area passed away July 25, 2001 in Las Vegas.
She was born in Chicago, IL. on February 21, 1938 and had moved to Las Vegas May 1. She retired from the Xerox Corporation and was currently employed at Fujisawa Pharmaceuticals in Deerfield, IL.
Survivors include her husband John Flynn, a son Andres (Patricia) Flynn, a daughter Robin (Kevin) Mullane, granddaughter Karina Swaney, grandsons William Gordon, Richard Gordon and Johnathan Flynn, a great grandson Ethan Swaney, brothers Neil (Mary Jane) Boyle, James (Jaclyn) Boyle, Richard (Carolyn) Boyle, Terrence Boyle and Patrick (Kathy) Boyle and sisters Veronica (the late Robert) Zogman, Paula Cody, Jane Boyle and Miriam Boyle, a special cousin Arthur (Avis) Nelson and a very special friend, Burton. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James W. Boyle and Helen Simcox Boyle, a brother John (Margaret) Boyle and a sister Rita Boyle.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul The Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL. on Saturday, August 25, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. Family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Illinois Elks Association of Crippled Children's Corporation (IEACCC), c/o Waukegan Elks, 2744 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, IL. 60085. Burial will be private.

Mary Gardner
Mary Gardner, 72, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away late Sunday night on August 19, 2001 at St. Therese Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born Mary Emma Louise Exford on March 1, 1929 to the late Lawrence Exford, Sr., and Polly M. Branham in Auxvasse, MO. She graduated from Garfield High School in 1947. She married the late Samuel W. Gardner, Sr. in 1948 and later relocated to this area in 1953. She was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church in Waukegan, IL. She worked for Lightening Products, Inc. (LPI) for many years until she medically retired in 1983.
She is survived by a son, Samuel W. (Martha) Gardner, Jr., of Jackson, MS., three daughters: Beverly Benson of Auburn, AL., Cheryl Gardner of North Chicago, IL., and Sharon (Richard) Gardner-Johnson of Waukegan, IL.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; 2 aunts: Josephine Boneparte of Seattle, WA. and Goldie Murray of Fulton, MO.; one brother, Ralph (Ruth) Exford of Waukegan, IL.; 3 sisters: Elsie McDonald of Detroit, MI.; Betty (Everett) Williams of Centralia, MO.; and Elizabeth (Morris) Wilkes of Compton, CA.; a very special cousin Irene Jones and niece Joyce Shivers, both of Waukegan, IL.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a goddaughter Delores (LoLo) Allen of Waukegan, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975, a daughter Lisa Gardner-Dobbins in 1997 and a son Robert Wayne Gardner in 1956.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2001 at the St. Johns Baptist Church, 708 Greenwood, Waukegan. Visitation will start at 11:00 A.M. for friends of the family, with the funeral services starting at 12:00 P.M. with the Reverend M.E. Pitt officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Funeral Arrangements are being handled by WESTGATE FUNERALS, 228 N. Genesee, Waukegan, IL. (847) 662-8000.

Donald W. Herr
Donald W. Herr, 74, entered into the Kingdom of the Lord on August 21, 2001 at the Genderson Lutheran Medical Center. Don was born on July 5, 1927 in Evanston, IL to to Walter and Ida (Wirtz) Herr. He married Connie R. Buskirk on June 20, 1953. Don served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was a 42 year member of the Chicago Board of Trade, where he traded Grain Futures. Don was a lifelong sportsman, volunteer, and youth sports coach.
Don is survived by his wife Connie; two sons, Gregory (Jori) of Trophy Club, TX and Steven (Jean) of West Chicago, IL; a daughter Jeanne Marie (Brian) Babiash of West Salem, WI; 12 grandchildren, Jessica and Christina Herr, Matt, Michelle and Paige Babiash, Daniel, John, Brian, Theresa, Michael, Timothy and Mary Caroline Herr; a brother, Thomas (Nancy); three sisters, Geraldine, Margaret and Elizabeth (Howard), and his mother-in-law Wilma V. Buskirk. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bernadine and his father-in-law Roy E. Buskirk.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Libertyville, IL at a later date. Don was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He will always be in our hearts.

Rosie Malecki
Rosie Malecki, 50 years old of Lake Villa, Illinois passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. from complications associated with Crohn's disease. She was born July 3, 1951 in Chicago and has lived in Lake Villa since 1967. She graduated from Grant Community High School in 1969. The important things in her life were her family, friends and her flowers.
Survivors include her son Ryan (Erika) Malecki and her daughter Samantha Malecki, both of Round Lake, her mother Beverly Mieszanek of Lake Villa, 3 brothers, Rickie Mieszanek of Lake Villa, Michael (Ela) Mieszanek of Apek, NC and Tony Mieszanek of Fox Lake, IL., one sister Patricia (Keith) Larsen of Antioch and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Dear Friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Frank Mieszanek and her father Michael Mieszanek.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, August 25, 2001 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL. Interment will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. Saturday until time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

Charles "Tod" Maplethorpe
Charles "Tod" Maplethorpe, 75, of Antioch, IL passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at his home. He was born November 30, 1925 in Waukegan, IL, the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Pollock) Maplethorpe and has been a life long resident of Antioch.
He served in the U. S. Army in the Field Artillery during World War II and had worked at Hough International Harvester. He retired as the Superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Antioch where he had worked for over 30 years. In appreciation for his dedicated service, the community room in the village hall was named in his honor. Tod was an Antioch Fireman from 1946 until 2001 serving as Chief for 23 years. He had the recent honor of having the new Station #2 named in his honor. His many associations included, member of the United Methodist Church, the National and Illinois Association of Fire Chiefs, a founder of the Lake County Fire Chiefs, The Sequoit Masonic Lodge #827, The Lakes Region Historical Society and the Antioch Grade School Board of Education. On December 15, 1957, he married Carol Bean in Antioch.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; a son, Paul (Kelly) Maplethorpe of Round Lake, IL; and a daughter, Ruth (Dave) Johnson of Dixon, IL; a brother, James (Vivian) Maplethorpe of Antioch; six grandchildren, Kara, Amy, Scott and Erik Maplethorpe and Marielizabeth and Patrick Johnson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur; and a sister, Mary Jean.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 24, 2001 at the United Methodist Church, 848 Main St., Antioch. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch.
Friends may call at the church from 9 AM Friday until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Antioch Fire Department or the United Methodist Church of Antioch, in his memory. Arrangements are entrusted to the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH. Info: 847-395-4000.
