Nancy Ray Raziq
Nancy Ray Raziq, 48 of North Chicago, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Vista St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan.
She was born May 4, 1956 in Carrollton, IL.
Nancy had been employed as a Data Technician with the North Chicago Police Department for the last 16 years. She was a member of the Service Employees International Union Local #73 AFL-CIO.
Survivors include one daughter, Penny Seidel of Apopka, FL; and one son, Robert (Angie) Walz of Alton, IL; one brother, Rick Wellhausen of Carrollton, IL; and one sister, Christy Watz of St. Louis, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and interment will be private.
Arrangements were under the care of the SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee.

Norma Jeanne Roos (nee Goldsmith-Gray)
Norma Jeanne Roos, age 86, passed away late Friday night, August 20, 2004. Norma was born in Mitchell, SD on March 23, 1918 to Marion and Grace (nee Goldsmith) Gray.
She was a resident of Wildwood for over 50 years, a member of Wildwood Presbyterian Church for nearly 50 years and an election judge in Lake County for more than 40 years.
Norma enjoyed watercolors, drawing and playing the piano, among many other talents. She also earned the "Young Designer Award," given by the Chicago Tribune, an honor for fashion designers.
She is survived by her children, Diane (Grant) Barlow of Wildwood, and Holly (Ted) Custod of Round Lake; her grandchildren, Kristan, Patrick and Andrew Roos-Barlow of Wildwood, and Emma Ling and Erin Xia Xia Custod of Round Lake.
Her husband, George Walter Roos; her parents and her half-brother and half-sister preceded her in death.
Friends of the family may join them for the memorial service at Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 33428 N. Sears Boulevard, Wildwood, IL 60030 on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Avon Centre cemetery. All care was entrusted to STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030.

Rose A. Schiele
Rose A. Schiele, 89, of Round Lake, formerly of McHenry, died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at her home. She was born August 11, 1915 to Edward and Victoria (Sykes) Koy. Formerly of Evanston, Rose moved to McHenry in 1957. After retiring, she moved to Powers Lake, WI, and in 1999 moved to Round Lake. She was the proprietor of the Schiele Bakery located at 47th and Cicero. After moving to McHenry, she worked at the Riverside Bakery on Riverside Drive in McHenry. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include three children, Margaret Morritz of McHenry, Rosemary (Stanley) Pollitte of Park Falls, WI and Paul (Phyllis) Heber of McHenry; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and dear friends, David (Kathleen) Appleton of Ingleside.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Schiele (1979); husband, Charles Dombrow; husband Joseph Herger; a son, Charles Dombrow; a grandson; lifelong friend, George Klempke; her parents; three brothers, Alex, Anthony and John Koy; and four sisters, Gerturde, Adeline, Marion and Eleanor.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at JUSTEN'S ROUND LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 222 North Rosedale Court (at Cedar Lake Road), Round Lake, IL, 60073. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 from 8:30 AM until the 9:30 AM Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1401 N. Richmond Road, McHenry, IL, 60050. Interment in St. Mary's cemetery, McHenry.

James O. Mann, 83
We celebrate the life of James O. Mann, born August 12, 1923. Jim went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2006, in his home, surrounded by the family that loves him so much.
Jim was born in Sandwich, Illinois, and grew up in DeKalb, Illinois. He was a Boy Scout, and he attained Eagle Scout status. Jim graduated from DeKalb High School, then attended Wabash College in Indiana where he became a lifetime member of Phi Delta Theta.
During World War II, Jim served in the Coast Guard as a Radar Technician. After the war, he received his BA and Masters Degrees from Northern Illinois University. He then studied photography for two years at the Institute of Design in Chicago. While Jim's career was primarily in Personnel with ServiceMaster, his passion was photography. He pursued photography both professionally and personally. With his photography, Jim was gifted to be able to capture the beauty and awesomeness of God's creation.
Jim was married to Joyce Sollenberger in 1944, and they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Kerry and wife, Kay; and his daughter, Michele Stahly and husband, Greg. Jim was the proud grandfather of Casey and Heather Mann, Jason and Megan Riley, and Gracie Barksdale.
Jim's life will be celebrated at a service at Grace Methodist Church, 300 East Gartner Road in Naperville, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 25.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Grace Methodist Church Fellowship of Christian Men or Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice.

Catherine "Kay" Stanczak (nee Kennedy)
Catherine "Kay" Stanczak (nee Kennedy), 81 of Gurnee, beloved wife of Sam, loving mother of Terrie Hemmings and Mike (Janet) Stanczak, dear grandmother of Mike, Jr., and Tom went home to Heaven on August 20, 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandmother, Hannah Miller.
Kay blessed her loved ones with unconditional love, encouragement and loyalty. She shared her faith and loved the Lord. Kay knew her salvation was a guaranteed gift of grace from God through Christ's death and Resurrection. She had fought the good fight.
Kay was a Registered Nurse, a consummate professional who worked at Abbott Laboratories in the Employee Health Department as Corporate Supervisor of Nursing Service and Health Administration from 1956-1990. She was a Pioneer in her field as a woman professional. She received her BS Degree from The College of St. Francis. During 1976 Kay was the first President of the Lakeland Association of Occupational Health Nurses. She served two terms as President of the Illinois Association of Occupational Health Nurses and she was also a Red Cross Disaster Nurse. She served in numerous organizations including The American Cancer Society where she was on the Board of Directors in Lake County from 1990-1993. Kay was an avid reader, she loved people and championed the underdog and believed nothing was impossible with God's grace and one's own determination. She and her husband loved animals inheriting numerous pets "adopted" or dragged home by her children. She especially loved Sabrina a Miniature Poodle who, like her master, had the heart and courage of a lion.
Kay and her husband loved to travel and she and Sam were charter members of St. Paul The Apostle Church where they were Eucharistic Ministers and Ministers of Care.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10AM Thursday, August 24, 2006 at St. Paul The Apostle Church. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.
Friends may call at The Salata-Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee from 5-8PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 and from 9-10AM Thursday at St. Paul The Apostle Church.

Martina Catherine Smith (nee Michalski)
Martina Catherine Smith (nee Michalski), 82, of Zion, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home on Sunday, August 20, 2006. She was born August 14, 1924, in Loyal, WI to the late William and Margaret Michalski of Marshfield, WI.
Martina was the wife of the late Robert L. "Vern" Smith. They made their home in Zion, IL, where their marriage was blessed with five children. They met while working at the V.A. Hospital in North Chicago, IL. Martina later pursued her nursing career at the old Zion Hotel and then at Sheridan Health Care Center, from which she retired. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Martina enjoyed being at her home and working at her word search and crossword puzzles.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert L. Smith, Jr., (Marilyn Prahl) of Round Lake Beach, IL, Catherine (Terry) Oatsvall of Bristol, WI, David M. Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Casey (Lester Butler) of Zion, IL, William (Pam) Smith of Paw Paw, MI; former son-in-law Edward Casey of Zion; and former daughter-in-law, Betty (Mell) Castillo of Zion, IL. She will also be remembered by eight grandchildren, Melliza Smith (David Bucholz), Michelle (Robert) Mennes, Bethany Smith, Robert Smith (Mary Sutton), Colin Casey, Shannon Casey (Jason Carder), and Jenna and Matthew Oatsvall. She leaves seven great grandchildren, Maranda Hile, Joshua, Joclynn and Joseph Mennes, Jasmine Smith and Shayla Carder. Also left with special memories are Martina's two sisters, Lois Michalski and Judy (Dale) Brumbaugh; and brother, Marvin (Lorraine) Michaski. She was the fond sister-in-law of all eight of her husband's siblings, Alma (Dent) Grant, Bonnie Kinley, Patsy Anderson, Marilyn ("Bugs") Durham, Dorothy (Ron) Thompson, Carolyn (John) Grant, Cynthia (Dale) Huegen, and Herbert (Margaret) Smith.
Martina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Bernice (Willard) Wilner, and a brother, Donald (Darlene) Michalski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 25,, 2006 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be Thursday, August 24, from 5-8 pm at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion.

Elmer E. Anderson
Elmer E. Anderson, age 97, of Gurnee, was born January 17, 1909 in Marshall County, MN, he passed away August 20, 2006 in Libertyville, IL.
He was a member of Holy Family (St. Joseph) Church for over 85 years, a member of St. Joseph Church Choir for 65 years, the St. Joseph Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus in Waukegan and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was an engineer with Common wealth Edison for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Mary (nee Burba); his children, Mary (Martin) Gust, Roy (Diane), John and Kathleen (Henry) Burger, 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Conrad, and also many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth, his brother, Roy and his sister, Edna Asma.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 24, 2006 from 9 to 10 am with a Funeral Mass at 10 am at Holy Family Church, 450 Keller Ave., Waukegan. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers donations to Holy Family Parish would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Marsh Funeral Home.

Levia Slaughter
Brother Levia Slaughter, 57, was born January 10, 1949, in Cottonport, LA, to Herbert and Marie Slaughter. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, August 17, 2006.
He confessed to Christ at an early age at the Morning Star Baptist Church. Later he moved to Chicago, IL, then to Zion, IL. Levia was a faithful member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist in Zion, under the leadership of Rev. John A. McBride. Levia's profession was a truck driver. He united in Holy Matrimony to his beloved wife, Lovetta Slaughter.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving, devoted, wife Lovetta Slaughter; six children, Tambra Mack of Baton Rouge, LA, Teshun Bolden and Andrea (Brian) Cleave, both of Kenosha, WI, Anthony Wiggins of Zion, IL, Avery (Sarina) McDaniel and Jashaun McCall also both of Kenosha, WI; seven brothers, Harold (Brenda) Slaughter, of Bellwood, IL, Horace (Darlene) Slaughter, Lerry, Christopher (Anita) Slaughter, and Warren (Linda) Slaughter, all of Baton Rouge, LA, and Samuel Slaughter of Marksville, LA; eight sisters, Joyce Slaughter, Lois (Wendall) Dominique, Lurthie (Kenny) Leatherman, and Deborah (Larry) Ford, all of Baton Rouge, LA, Girlean Moor, Ella Mae Stevenson, Amy (Larry) Sullivan, and Helen (Reginal) Blackmon all of Marksville, LA. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; six sister-in-laws. Lubertha Slaughter of Baton Rouge, LA, Gladys (Jodie) Moore, Mattie Armstrong, Grace (Victor) Overton, all of Zion, IL, Ruby (Richard) Walton of Kenosha, WI, Joeann (Watson) Chillus of Toledo, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Preston Wiggins of Zion, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; one aunt and three uncles. Also surviving are Father and Mother-In-Law, Preston (Inez) Wiggins, and dear friends, rejoicing in his memory, Garland Jackson and Kenneth Tyler, and adopted brother, Robert McKinney.
Levia was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Jr. and Marie Slaughter; grandparents, Herbert Sr. and Lurthie Slaughter; daughter, Yvette; and brother, Ellis Slaughter.
A Homecoming Celebration will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 3109 Gilead, Zion. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Shepherd of the Hill cemetery, Plaucheville, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family have been suggested.

Dieudonne June Grant
Dieudonne June Grant, 78, of Zion, died on Sunday, August 20, 2006, at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion.
She was born February 26, 1928, in Chicago, IL and was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park.
Survivors include a grandson, Tyrone Grant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and grandnephews, James Patrick Hurley, Gerald Lee Graf and Anthony Graf.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor P. Grant in 1993.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 9:00am at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park.

Nydia E. Martinez
Nydia E. Martinez (Born Mercado), 43, of Kenosha, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2006 at her residence. She was born on April 29, 1963 to Julio C. Mercado and Milagros Cecilia Rivera in Waukegan. She came to Kenosha in 1985. Nydia enjoyed writing numbers, coloring and watching movies.
She is survived by her children William L. Hernandez of Kenosha, Cecilia S. Hernandez of Kenosha, Fransisco Munoz of Chicago; her brothers Julio Martinez of FL, Luis M. Martinez of Puerto Rico, her sister Marta Mercado Patterson of Bethesda, MD; her fathers Luis M. Martinez of Puerto Rico, Julio C. Mercado of Pinellas Park, FL; her maternal grandmother Florinda Irizarry of Waukegan; and her two grandchildren.
Her mother precedes her in death.
Memorial Services for Nydia were held on Tuesday, August 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home.
