Michelle Ratliff Berry
Michelle Ratliff Berry, 28 years old of Memphis, TN formerly of Zion, IL passed away Monday September 20, 2004 in Memphis. She was born July 27, 1976 in Waukegan, IL the daughter of Sterling and Peggy Ratliff, living in Zion before moving to Memphis in 1999. Michelle worked as a waitress.
Survivors include her children, Cody, Brittany, Gloria and Jesse, her parents Sterling and Peggy Ratliff of Salem, WI, a sister Tina Ratliff, four brothers, David, Bobbie, Tim (Cate) and Todd (Monica) Ratliff and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 1PM until 4PM Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83), Antioch, IL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a family memorial.
Henry V. Cook
Henry V. Cook, 64, of Zion, departed this life on Thursday, September 23, 2004, at his home. He was born September 30, 1939, in East Saint Louis, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Cook; brothers, George Cook, Milwaukee, WI, and Curtis Cook (Ruthie), Waukegan, IL; sister, Mary Lou Conner, Calhoun City, MS; sons Luther, Henry (Miranda), and Michael Cook (Tracy), Zion, IL; daughters, Jill Polite, Zion, IL, Nancy Cook of Minnesota, and Kiara Cook, Zion, IL; 17 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Profx and Nancy Cook; and brothers, Ernest and Jonelle Cook.
Visitation is Saturday, 10 to 11 am, with funeral services following at 11am-12pm at the Mt. Zion MB Church, 2500 30 St., Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Zion.
Barry Fitzgerald
Barry Fitzgerald, 93, of Lake Forest, died September 28, 2004.
He was the husband of the late Elaine (nee Watten) and father of Barry, Jr. of Sarasota, FL, Anita Breternitz of Longboat Key, FL, Susan Marchese of Port Charlotte, FL and the late Bea Limback of Incline Village, NV. He was also the grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of eight.

Barry was the owner of Fitzgerald Cigar Store in Market Square of Lake Forest from 1934-1958, Tax Assessor of Shields Township from 1962-1980, a Religious Service Volunteer at V.A. Hospital in North Chicago, and an Honorary member of the Lake Forest City Council.
Barry was a descendent of a pioneer family of Lake Forest and Libertyville Townships. His grandmother, Julia Grimes Harding was born in 1843 on a farm in Libertyville Township. She told stories of seeing Indians walking through the family farm on their way to Chicago and back, circa 1850. Her husband, James Harding was an Irish immigrant that had joined the Union Army, when he landed in the United States. When he was released from the Army, he went West and settled at the Grimes farm. There he met and married
Julia. He bought a house in Lake Forest located on Western Ave. across from the railroad station, for his growing family. A cobbler, by trade, he set up shop in a room in his house. His mother, Agnes E. Harding Fitzgerald was born in 1876 in the same house, which is now the Southeast corner of Market Square. His father Charles Fitzgerald, also served as a businessman in Lake Forest and was on the Lake Forest City Council from 1920-1928.
Clinton O. Grinnell "Clint"
Clinton O. Grinnell, "Clint", age 72, Sheriff of Lake County, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at his home in Mundelein, IL, Freeport Township.
Clinton was born on December 13, 1931, in Libertyville, IL. He was raised in Libertyville, IL and attended schools within the Libertyville school system. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean War. On May 28, 1955 he married
Marion Diebold, lifelong resident of Fremont Township, Lake County, IL.
Mr. Grinnell attended numerous Police Schools over the past 38 years at Northwestern University, University of Illinois, and F.B.I. Academy. He was a graduate of the National Sheriff's Institute. He attended courses sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice and the National Institute of Corrections.
His career started in July of 1955 at the Libertyville Police Department, in May of 1969 he became the Chief of the Libertyville Police Department, in December of 1982 he became Undersheriff of the Lake County Sheriff's Department. Then, in March of 1988, Clinton was appointed Sheriff of Lake County and in November of 1988 he was elected Sheriff of Lake County and had been re-elected for three consecutive terms, a title he held until his passing.
Clinton had many professional and personal affiliations over the years. His professional affiliations included the International Association of Chief's of Police where he served on Committee for Patrol & Tactics, National Sheriff's Association, Illinois Association Chief's of Police where he served on Executive Board and the Audit & Communications Committee, Illinois Sheriff's Association where he served on the Executive Board and the Training Committee, Fraternal Order of Police, Lake County Police Chief's Association, North Suburban Chief's of Police Association, Northern Illinois Sheriff's Association, Northeast Illinois Regional Training Board of Directors, Governors' Advisory Panel, and Part Time Auxiliary Police. His personal affiliations included the Lake County Fair Board Association where he was the Past Director, Lake County Farm Bureau, Lake County Museum, Libertyville American Legion, Libertyville Veteran of Foreign Wars, Grayslake Lions Club, Lake County Farm Heritage Club, and the Libertyville Ham Hocks Club. Past affiliations included the Libertyville Rotary Club and he was a 4-H Club Leader. His personal hobbies were draft horses, as well as collecting horse drawn farm equipment and antique farm tractors.
Survivors include his wife Marion Diebold; five children William Grinnell, Susan (Jeff) Grinnell Quint, Catherine Grinnell, Michael (Laurie) Grinnell, and Mark (Mary Lou) Grinnell; eight grandchildren Michael Grinnell, Rebecca Grinnell, James Quint, Justin Grinnell, Jordyn Ashley Grinnell, and Brandon, Shelby & Mikayla Grinnell; sister Frances Eiserman; brother Jack (Linda) Grinnell. Many nieces & nephews also survive.
Visitation Friday, October 1, from 3PM-8PM at MCMURROUGH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 101 Park Place, Libertyville (Rt. 176, 1 block East of Milwaukee Ave.). Funeral mass 10 AM Saturday, October 2, at St. Mary of The Annunciation Church Fremont Center. Private interment St. Mary cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to either the Salvation Army or the building fund of St. Mary of The Annunciation.
William Burns Hall, Jr.
William Burns Hall, Jr., 61, lifelong resident of Lake Bluff died September 29, 2004. He was born March 23, 1943. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served in Ft. Riley, KS. He received a B.S. from Loyola University. He was a former auditor for the State of Illinois for 15 years and was Chief Deputy Treasurer of Lake County until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Alexander McKinlock Post 264, Lake Forest.
He was the husband of Pamela, father of Steve (Heather) Hall of Lake Bluff, and grandfather of Cameron.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 77 E. Monroe, Chicago, IL 60603.
Visitation 5 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. Saturday, October 2 at WENBAN FUNERAL HOME, 320 E. Vine Ave., Lake Forest. Interment private.
Charles F. Marquardt, Jr.
Charles F. Marquardt, Jr., of Haines City, Florida (formerly from Waukegan, IL), was born September 2, 1923 and passed on September 22, 2004. Cause of Death, Merkel Cell Cancer.
Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara (Walt) Marquardt.
Born in Chicago, IL and proudly served his country in WWII from 1943 to 1945 serving in the Philippine's. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, The Purple Heart, and The Philippine Liberation Medal.
Charles was a life member of VFW Post 4737, Highland Park, IL; Military Order of Cooties Pup Tent #67, Ill.; National Assn. of Retired Fed. Employees; Military Order of the Purple Heart. Also, 37th Div. Veterans Assn., AARP, and FMO.
Charles moved from Waukegan to Florida 10 years ago. He was loved by his many friends and family and all looked forward to his KISSES (chocolate).
Burial to be at Bushnell National cemetery, Florida.

Hazel B. Monson
Hazel B. Monson, 78 years old, of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at her home. She was born November 28, 1925 in Chocolay Township, Marquette County, U.P., Michigan, the daughter of the late Walter and Gertrude (Lindsey) Hanson.
Hazel lived in Chicago, before moving to Lindenhurst and was a graduate of the Cook County School of Nursing and attended the University of Illinois. Hazel was a Nursing Instructor at St. Luke's Hospital. She also worked for the City of Chicago as a School Nurse, and before her retirement, was a Nursing Supervisor at various nursing homes.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Grayslake, IL, for many years. On July 3, 1954, she married
Torolf Monson in the First Congregational Church in Chicago.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Torolf; two daughters, Lorna (John) Allard of Lake Villa, IL and Carolyn Almennigen of Buffalo, NY; five grandchildren, John Jr., Kathy, Cindy, Tim, and Aaron; her great-granddaughter, Alyssa; her siblings, Allen (Ruth) Hanson, Walter (Ginny) Hanson, Lorna Lightfoot, Ruth Bidus, Erna Lou (Gordon) Wilson, Gerald Hanson and Alvin Hanson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Hanson, during World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME IN ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St., (Rte. 83) Antioch, with Pastor Zack Turner of Faith Baptist Church of Grayslake, IL, officiating. Interment will be Monday, October 4, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Highland Memorial Park, Hunt Club Rd. and 120, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM Friday, October 1, 2004 at the funeral home.
Coretha Frances Moore
Coretha Frances Moore, of North Chicago, was born August 19, 1934 in Wybark, OK, to Chester Leo and Alberta (Bailey) Cozart. The great comforter cradled Coretha in his arms and took her home at the age of 70, on September 25, 2004.
Coretha departed this life in the comfort of the Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan. She confessed to Christ at an early age in Oklahoma. While living in Oklahoma, she attended the Wybark Elementary School. She soon moved to Evanston, IL, where she graduated from Evanston Township High School. She moved to Waukegan, after graduating from high school.
Coretha married
her beloved husband, Edward C. Moore on September 9, 1963. She was a faithful member of Christian Valley Baptist Church in North Chicago, where she was a nurse for many years, until her death.
Coretha was employed in civil service for many years, working at the VA Hospital in North Chicago, as well as at Fort Sheridan. She was also employed at J.C. Penny. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and entertaining family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years; two daughters, Linda Terrell of North Chicago and Elizabeth (Oscar) Fields of Waukegan; five grandchildren, Shalanda, Merico (Elizabeth), Alcattio, Tamika, and Oscar Jr.; nine sisters, Cleora Cozart of Kansas City, MO, Elzata Cozart of Kansas City, Casandra Cozart of North Chicago, Constance Ingram of Kansas City, Deborh (Thomas) Horne of Kansas City, Jennien (Eddie) Wyatt of Kansas City, Mona (Ronnie) Dean of Kansas City, Bernice Cozart of Kansas City, and Vickie (Duane) Smith of Kansas City; four brothers, Leon (Betty) Cozart of Kansas City, Elmer Cozart of North Chicago, Albert Cozart of Kansas City, and William Cozart of Evanston; special friends, Louise Shepard of North Chicago, Willie D. Gaines of North Chicago, and the Ivery Family; six great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends, who will rejoice in her memory.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Cozart of Kansas City. Visitation will be Saturday, 10 AM, until the 11 AM funeral service at Christian Valley Church, 2690 Argonne Dr., North Chicago. Rev. Woods will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Zion.

John E. Morgan
John E. Morgan, 92, of Libertyville, IL passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the Winchester House in Libertyville. He was born August 7, 1912 in Auburn, New York, was a former resident of Chicago, living in Libertyville since 1993. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine and Christ Methodist Church in Chicago. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville and before his retirement, had been a design engineer for the International Harvester Corp. in Hinsdale.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia (Bill) Colaric of Libertyville and Diane Binnie of West LaFayette, IN; four grandchildren, Mike (Kelley) Binnie of Winston-Salem, NC, Kathy (Bill) Hinshaw of Monticello, IN, B.J. Colaric of Huntington Beach, CA and Sarah Colaric of Chicago; six great-grandchildren; his sister, June Duke of Washington D.C. and sister-in-law, Moneta Morgan of Canton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Katherine Morgan; by his wife, Florence Morgan in 1992; and by his brothers, Bill and Jim.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville, with the Rev. Dr. Brian R. Paulson officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services on Saturday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Winchester House in his memory.
Dennis C. Mullan
Dennis C. Mullan, age 65, of Kenosha, WI, passed away September 24, 2004 at the All Saints Medical Center, Racine, WI. He was born January 10, 1939 in Chicago, IL, and has been a resident of Kenosha, WI, for the past 10 years, and formally of Northern Lake County for over 30 years.
Dennis served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1958 to 1963. He was also a bartender at Louie's Restaurant of Waukegan, for over 28 years, and also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Sandra J. (nee Buck Wesley); nine children, Wendy Mullan of Chicago, IL, Kerry Mullan of Mundelein, IL, Kenny (Bobby) Mullan of Round Lake Beach, IL, Jeffery (Debra) Wesley of Racine, WI, Cynthia Wesley of Racine, WI, Allan (Renee) Wesley of Sturtevant, WI, Daniel (Elizabeth) Wesley of Milton, FL, Kathi (Brian) Eckman of Kenosha, WI, Shirley (Michael) Larkin of Racine, WI; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia (Martin) Lambert of Island Lake, IL, Sharon Rauschenberg of Vernon Hills, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Emma Mullan.
