Lenora Riedel Schulmeister
Lenora Riedel Schulmeister 87 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Wed. Sept. 29, 2004 at ManorCare, Libertyville, IL. She was born Oct. 29, 1916 in Kenosha, WI the daughter of the late Otto and Bertha Polfus. She had lived in Carney, Michigan and Forest Park, IL before moving to Antioch .
Lenora was a waitress for many years and had worked at Smarts Country Club in Antioch, Sail Inn in Fox Lake and the Northern Chalet in Libertyville. She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society, in Antioch.
On March 7, 1995 she married
Arnold Schulmeister in Antioch.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Herbert Riedel in 1979.
Survivors are her children, Richard (Judy) Riedel of Spring Grove, IL, Herbert (Pam) Riedel of Antioch, IL, Charlene (Raymond) McNaught of Spring Grove, IL, Raymond (Peggy) Riedel of Antioch and Ralph (Laura) Riedel of Johnsburg, IL, 5 step children, Wesley (Sue) Schulmeister of Salem, WI, Bonnie (Kevin) Kline of Springfield, VA, Karen (Kenneth) Johnston of Antioch, IL, Randall (Charlene) Schulmeister of Antioch, IL and Victoria Schulmeister of Lakewood, CO, 7 Grandchildren, 10 Step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a brother Ervin (Hilda) Polfus of Carney, MI.
In addition to her first husband she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Norman and Clarence Polfus and 1 sister Dolores Anglet.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Sat. Oct 2, 2004 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1275 Main St, (Rte 83) Antioch. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be from 4 until 8PM Friday at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St,(Rte 83) and at the Church Sat. from 10 AM until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Building Fund, in her memory.
Gene A. Steffens
Gene A. Steffens, 64, of Gurnee passed away peacefully at his home September 28, 2004. He was born January 29, 1940 in Waukegan where he grew up and graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1958. He married
Vivian (nee Salata) on May 28, 1966 in North Chicago.
As a young man, Gene was an avid motorcyclist often competing in uphill races. From his teenage years until very recently, Gene rode his Harley Davidson down to Daytona Beach, FL where he shared many good times with his friends.
Gene was a member of the Teamsters Local 301, and had worked for Dan Lodesky Trucking, OMC and most recently Campanella & Sons where he retired in September 2002.
He was the proud founder of the Turnpike Turtle Racing Team, and during his free time he could be found promoting the "racing team" at the Dog House or the Frolic Lounge where his mantra was "I'm pure".
Gene is survived by his loving wife Vivian, daughter Lynn (Andy) Lostumo of Kenosha, WI, two grandchildren Hunter Lostumo and Brianna Haskell, one sister Carol (Joe) Johnson of Rhinelander, WI and by several aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret (nee Coake), his father Maternus "Joe" Steffens and two nephews, David and Douglas Runnerstrum.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 15000 Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth with interment to follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. "Motorcycles are Welcome".
Friends may call at the SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of Mass at St. Patrick Church.
RAYMOND S. UIMARI
Raymond S. Uimari, 62, of Sanford, Florida, died suddenly on Monday, September 6, 2004 at home
Raymond was born November 22, 1942 in Waukegan, IL to parents Raymond and Lucille Uimari. Raymond was a 1961 graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Sanford, Florida.
Survivors include one sister, Veronica (Frank) Fratus of Paradise, Texas; two brothers David Uimari of Grass Valley, California, and William (Rose) Uimari, of Waukegan, IL; a special friend, Carolyn Avery, of Sanford, Florida; and also he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lucille Uimari, in 1977.
There will be a memorial service in Sanford, Florida at a later date.
Lula Valters
Lula Valters, age 90, of Kenosha, WI made her heavenly transition from this earthly life early in the morning on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. Lula was born May 26,1914 in Greenwood, MS.
She was the 7th child of nine children born to the union of Mattie and Sam Griffin.
She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age. She received her education in Mississippi and united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Ball. She later moved to the North Chicago, Waukegan, IL area and joined the Trinity A.M.E. Church.
She was employed at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital in food service and retired with over 30 years of service. Lula loved the Lord and was very active in church, where she served on the Stewardess Board and the Nurses Guild.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Darlene (Robert) Kelly; two grandsons, Rickey and Ryan Myles; a sister, Alice (Joel) Martin; a nephew, William Whitaker; and a host of cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; four sisters; and two nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 1, 2004 at the Trinity AME Church, 210 South Ave., Waukegan, IL. Pastor Reginald Blount, officiating. Interment will be at Mt Olivet Memorial Park cemetery, Zion, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday at the church.

Frank Barry
Frank Barry, 54, of Zion, died Friday, September 26, 2003 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan.
Frank was born August 5, 1949 in Dearborn, MI. He served with the United States Army in Vietnam and received his honorable discharge in October of 1970. Frank attended Beach Bible Church in Zion.
He is survived by a close friend; Ruth Malmstrom of Zion and by other friends who will miss him dearly.
A Funeral Service was held on Sunday, September 28, 2003 at 3 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Pastor Rod Applington of Beach Bible Church of Zion officiating. Private interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, IL.
Norma I. Cappelli
Norma I. Cappelli, 58, of Trevor, WI passed away at her home, Saturday, September 27, 2003 after a long illness. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 18, 1945, the daughter of Harvey and Beulah (nee Hickman) Lancie. She worked for Second Federal Savings and Loan in Fox Lake for 27 years.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ralph R. Cappelli whom she married
August 22, 1964; her children, Lori (Rob) Laas of Trevor, WI; Mike (Valerie) Cappelli of Minneapolis, MN; and Rick (Becky) Cappelli of Round Lake Beach; her mother, Beulah Lancie of Pittsburgh, PA; her brother, Norman (Cindy) Lancie of West Sacramento, CA; her sisters, Norine (John) Clement of Brookfield; and Patricia (James) Wehner of Las Vegas, NV; and her nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Lancie in 1970.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment is at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville. Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003 at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
William Carlson
William Carlson, 73, of Round Lake, died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville.
He was born November 25, 1929 in Chicago to Fred and Florence (Hansen) Carlson. He was raised in Chicago until he relocated to Round Lake in 1985 to reside with his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Phyllis Carlson. He was an avid sports fan who watched any televised sporting event and was also fond of game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune. His favorite pastime was playing Checkers and other games with his nieces and nephews, and he always let them win. He will be sadly missed by his family.
Survivors include two sisters, Alice Graf of Chicago and Joan Graf of Dixon, IL; his brother, Howard (Phyllis) Carlson of Round Lake; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald; and two brothers-in-law, George Graf and Robert Graf.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 30, 2003, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at JUSTEN'S ROUND LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 222 N. Rosedale Ct., (at Cedar Lake Road) Round Lake, IL. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service also held at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park cemetery.
Andrew E. Edmonds
Andrew E. Edmonds, 59, of Waukegan, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at his home. He was born September 2, 1944 in North Chicago, IL and was the owner of Andy's Automotive.
Survivors include four children, Kim (Joel) Hunt of Winthrop Harbor, Barbara (Jim) Rodriguez of Waukegan, Laurie (Anthony Sr.) Siorda of Libertyville, Shelly (Dave) Dripps of Waukegan; twelve grandchildren, John Lininger, Michael Edmonds, Nichole Edmonds, Bryanna Rodriguez, Tyler Edmonds-Siorda, Andrew Dripps, Vanessa, Amanda, Ashely, Kylie, Anthony Jr., and Amy; one sister Mary Ann Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene Edmonds; two brothers Larry and Richard, and two sisters, Rosella and Daisey.
Wake services will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St. Burial will be private. Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Barbara Ford-Bankston
Barbara Ford-Bankston, 54, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2003 at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, IL. She was born on December 25, 1948 to Albert Willie Ford and Armead Savage in Chicago, IL. She attended Chicago Public Schools and graduated from Lucy Flowers High School. She was a resident of Waukegan. She was united in marriage to Mayo Bankston on September 8, 1996. She was an active member of Eternal Flame A.M.E. Church in North Chicago where she served as a stewardess, Sunday School teacher and missionary.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory; two sons, William Ford (Harriet) of Zion, IL and Phillip Ford of Waukegan; her mother, Mrs. Armead Ford of Waukegan; one brother, Matthew Ford of Chicago; one sister, Rev. Debra McGee of North Chicago; one granddaughter, Asia Janae Ford; two nephews, Danon and Marcus McGee of North Chicago; two nieces, Loukisha and Michelle Rankins of Maywood, IL; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Ford; her husband, Mayo Bankston; and nieces, April Rankins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at Eternal Flame A.M.E. Church, 1412 Greenfield Avenue, North Chicago, IL. Pastor Paul Shanklin will be officiating. Carol A. Hetzel
Carol A. Hetzel, 71, of Lake Ville, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, IL.
She was born in Berwyn, IL on October 23, 1931, the daughter of the late Emil and Mildred Anderle. She was a life long summer resident of Lake County, and became a permanent resident of Lake Villa in 1991. She moved there from LaGrange, IL. She was a retired teacher, devoting 32 years to her profession. She enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas, they were married
on December 20, 1975; her children, Michael John Moracek of Lake Villa, Andrew John (Kathleen) Moracek of Downers Grove, IL, Daniel Lee (Cindy) Moracek of Downers Grove, IL; grandchildren, Misty, Michelle, Lexi, Courtney, Jacob, Corey, and Katie Rose; great-grandchildren, Kyla, Sammy, Timmy, Andy and Lance; brother, John (Holly) Andrele of Lake Villa, IL.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carrie Lynn Moracek; and her great-grandson, Dustin.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2003, at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (Rte. 83), Lake Villa, IL 60046, with Rev. Gary Curl officiating. Interment will be private.
