Age 47, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Survived by her husband, Dan Donica; children, Erica Donica and Drew Donica; one sister, Helen (Perry) Nelson; one brother, Robert (Carol) Ayers; Aunt Louise Coumbe and Uncle Edward Coumbe. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Born in Nyack, NY, moving to Joliet in 1996. Barb served many churches in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church, including six years at Joliet's Grace Methodist Church in Wood Dale, IL. Barb was a Spiritual Director, Graduate of the Academy of Spiritual Formation and earned a certificate in Spiritual Formation. Member of the Joliet Rotary Club, Will-Grundy Medical Clinic Board and the Joliet Ecumenical Clergy Association.
Lying in State Wednesday, September 29, 2004 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, Joliet, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Interment at the Riverside cemetery in Oshkosh, WI. Visitation Tuesday 3-8 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Wood Dale Community Church Memorial Building Fund or Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund.

John A. Geryol, 51 passed away September 18, 2004.
Beloved husband of Mary Louise (nee DeSalvo); loving father of Patrick; dear brother of Tom (Gloria), Ray and Mary Elizabeth; and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Cecille Geryol.

Genevieve "Jean" I. Navulis
Genevieve "Jean" I. Navulis, age 73, of Waukegan, lost her fight with cancer and passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at her home. She was born October 3, 1930 in Kenosha, WI to Anthony and Josephine (Digris) Kaminski. On September 17, 1955, she married
John Navulis in Kenosha.
Born and raised in Kenosha, she moved to Waukegan with her husband. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Her greatest joy was her beloved grandchildren. She was also an avid bingo player and enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, John; two daughters, JoAnn (John) Clarke of Ann Arbor, MI and Jody (Joe) Loffredo of Kenosha; a son, Jim (Terri) Navulis of Wadsworth; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, and Abby Clarke, Joey and Jonathan Loffredo and Derek and Megan Navulis; nieces, Carol Reding of Lincolnshire and Mary Lesniack; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Stella Urbaitis and Ann Bitautis; and three brothers, Anthony, Ben and Harry Kaminski.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, 2004, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at MARSH FUNERAL HOME of Waukegan, 1521 Washington St. Mass will be at noon at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 624 Douglas Ave, Waukegan.
Mary Jane Rukstales
Mary Jane Rukstales, 80, of Zion passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan.
She was born July 10, 1924 in Rochelle, IL and was employed as a registered nurse at the Veterans Hospital in North Chicago, and also was a relief nurse at the U.S. Steel Plant Wire Mill in North Chicago through the 1960's. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Waukegan. Mary operated Al's Paint and Wall Coverings, (which later became Mary's Crafts) in Zion from 1959-1995. She belonged to the National Association of Business Women and was awarded "Business Woman of the Year" in 1969. Mary was active in the community as a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader, and participated in many charitable and civic organizations in the Zion area.
She is survived by two sons, John Rukstales of Burlington, WI and Bruce Rukstales of Antigo, WI; six grandchildren, Melissa Harris, Everett, Earl, Brianna, Gunnur and Arianna Rukstales; two great grandchildren, Noah and Jeremiah Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1956; a sister, Rita Jones; and her parents, George and Reva Koch.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 10:30 AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion with Reverend Paul Gerardy Sr. of the Memorial United Methodist Church of Zion officiating. Interment will follow at the North Shore Garden of Memories cemetery, North Chicago, IL, Visitation will be held on /Tuesday, September 28, 2004 from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home. William C. Sandberg
William C. Sandberg, age 87 of Grand Island, Florida formerly of Grays Lake, Illinois, passed away on September 27, 2004 in Eustis, Florida.
Born in Chicago, Illinois. Was a Lieutenant with the Chicago Fire Department where he retired from.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Margery L. Sandberg of Grnad Island, Florida; three daughters, Laurel Ely of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Linda (Rich) Perotto of Camas, Washington and Leslee (Scott) Beglinger of Huxley, Iowa; two sons, William C (Brigette) Sandberg of Greenville, Texas and Thomas R (Paula) Sandberg of Roundlake Park, Illinois; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hanson, Cindy Baer, Dante, Stephen and Gregory Perotto, Erik, Ryan, Alex, Jocelyn and Nolan Sandberg, Lindsey, Matthew and William Beglinger; and three great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Illinois.

David Allen Steffens
David Allen Steffens, 46, of Fox Chapel, PA, died suddenly on September 20, 2004. He was born in Cleveland, OH but moved to Fox Chapel at an early age. As a boy, he swam competitively and became a member of the Pittsburgh Field Club Swim Team.
He was graduate of Shady Side Academy and attended the University of Ohio. David was the president of Single Source Computers, but has spent the last few years caring for his elderly parents in FL.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed music and concerts. His brother John in 1979 and his father Robert in 2003 preceded him in death.
Survivors are his mother, Eleanor Stratton Steffens; his sister, Laura (Raymond) Murray; nephews, Robert and Raymond and many cousins.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch.
Private interment of his cremains will be in E. Fox Lake cemetery, Lake Villa, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund, in his memory.
George R. Andrekus
George R. Andrekus, 50, of Waukegan, died on Friday, September 23, 2005 at home surrounded by his family.
George was born October 4, 1954 in Kenosha, WI and has lived all of his life in the Wadsworth and Waukegan areas. He owned and operated Andrekus Plumbing Inc. of Waukegan. He was also an avid golfer and he enjoyed football (especially the Colts) and was a White Sox baseball fan. George will be missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Patti; one daughter, Kamee Andrekus of Zion; two grandchildren, Morgan and Kylee; his mother, Elise Andrekus of Wadsworth; one sister, Char (Bill) Krueger of Beach Park and their son Neil Krueger of Beach Park; and one brother, Frank (Jean) Andrekus of Zion and their children Dalein, Jessica and Chris.
He was preceded in death by his father, Adolph "Andy" Andrekus.
A memorial service will be held with the date and location to be announced later. The Congdon Funeral Home is serving the family.

Emily V. Bates
Emily V. Bates, age 96, of Waukegan, passed away at home Saturday morning September 24, 2005. She was born August 17, 1909 in Calumet, MI to Oscar and Theresa Bekkela.
Emily and her family moved to Waukegan when she was 10. She attended Schools in Waukegan. She attended medical school in Ann Arbor, MI, and nursing school in Waukegan. She worked as a Dr.'s assistant for Dr.s Williams & Bellios. Later she worked at Shurhit Product in Waukegan, where she met her husband to be. Bill proposed to her on Valentine's Day. They had been married
33 years at Bill's death in 1970. At 61, Emily went back to school and became a florist. With a friend, Franz she started flower shops in Lake Geneva, Twin Lakes and Dunbar, WI. After leaving her own business, she worked at Larsen's Florist Shop in Waukegan for 20 years.
Emily loved birds, flowers, early fall for the colors and children, especially children. A child or baby in her house would always bring a smile to her face. Emily had an out-going positive attitude, a strong will to live, and will be missed by family and many friends.
She is survived by step-son and daughter-in-law, Darwin (Suzanne) Heath, Ellen (William) bates III; step grandchildren, Bruce and Preston Bates, Susan Heath (Oliver) Everett, Darwin W. Heath Jr, Steven B. (Yanni) Heath; three nephews; Harry (Jean) Bekkela, Paul Robert Bekkela, Michael "Mickey" Bekkela; a niece, Mary Ann (Tom) Wiley; great-nieces and nephews, Nancy (Ken) Karuhn, Linda Fullerton, Dorothy (Greg) McCoskey and Heidi Bekkela, Alfred (Linda) Fullerton, Cindy (Danny) Parrish, Robert, Joy, Paul, Beth and Aaron Bekkela, Brigid and Brian Wiley; 19 great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-nephews; and a great-great-great-nephew; a brother-in-law, Fred (Billie) Simon; loving, devoted caregivers and friends, Hafize (Zeja) and Larry Jones; a special friend, Karen Larsen; and a friend for life, Betty Calhoun.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William (Bill) Bates II; three brothers, Harry, Philip, and Paul; two sisters, Lillian, Agnes (Fred) Simon; a daughter, Lillian; and two step children, William (Ellen) Bates III, Suzanne (Darwin) Heath; a niece, June (Alfred) Fullerton; step-grandchild, Rufus Bates IV; great-nephew, Gregory Bekkela; and a great-niece, Maura Wiley.

Elmer Hacker
Elmer Hacker, 89 of North Chicago, IL, passed away at home on Monday, September 26, 2005.
He was born on May 14th, 1916 in Crystal Lake, IL and married
Emily Rupnick on June 13, 1936 in Waukegan. Elmer retired from U.S. Steel in 1975 as a Crane Opaerator. He had also served in the National Guard. As a hobby, he raced Homing Pidgeons for many years.
Elmer is survived by four children, "Whitey" (Liz) Hacker of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Red (Peggy) Hacker of Kansasville, WI, Paula Mercer of Waukegan, IL and Judy Grubbs of Beach Park, IL; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Emily, on September 18, 2005; four sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at the SALATA GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 30, 2005. Rev. Debbie Richards will conduct services with interment to follow at North Shore Garden of Memories.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 P.M. on Thursday, and 9-10 A.M. on Friday.
