Wilma V. Ikola
Wilma V. Ikola, 81, died September 23, 2005 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion.
She was born October 19, 1923 in Hibbing, Minnesota. She moved to Winthrop Harbor in 1959 and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where she was also active in the Women's Club. Wilma worked for the Zion Curtain Factory and Warwicks, and was active with the Zion Senior Citizens Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.
Wilma is survived by one daughter, Nita (John) Baldwin of Winthrop Harbor; three grandchildren, John and Bethanie Baldwin of Winthrop Harbor, and Carissa (Hank) Jansen of Queen Creek, Arizona; and one great-granddaughter, Ariana Jansen. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and her husband Reino.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2005 from 5:00 until 8:00p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 North Delany Rd., Waukegan with Pastor Jeffrey Koth officiating. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Memorial Donations are suggest to St. Mark's Church.
Loni Kukich
Loni Kukich, 79, of Lake Villa, IL passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born December 11, 1925 in Gutersloh, Germany and came to live in the United States in 1951. Loni was a former 33 year resident of Libertyville, where she was a retired employee of the Ozite Corporation. She was a member of the St. Car Lazar Serbian Orthodox Parish in Third Lake and the Kolo of Serbian Sisters, St. Petka.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Barbara Djilas; her granddaughter, Mirjana (Jim) Hausser; and great grandson, David Milovan Hausser, all of Lake Villa; two sisters, Waltraud and Erika both living in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milovan Kukich on October 1, 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 1, 2005 at The Most Holy Mother of God Monastery in Third Lake. Interment will follow in the Monastery cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Friday at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville, with the Pomen service at 7 PM Friday evening.
Carl A. Nadr
Carl A. Nadr, 89 years old of Rockton, IL, formerly of Lake Villa and Antioch, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the Highview in the Woodlands, Rockton, IL. He was born October 26, 1915 in Lake Villa, IL, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Andersen) Nader.
Carl was a member of the Millburn Masonic Lodge #127, the Scottish Rite Valley of Pensacola and the Hadji Shrine Temple AAONMS, also of Pensacola, FL. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and had worked for many years for Civil Service at Great Lakes Naval Base and at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL, retiring on January 13, 1979. Carl enjoyed model railroading and all things involving trains. Most of all he loved to be with his grandkids.
On August 6, 1943 he married
Mildred I. Van Patten in St. Ignatius Church in Antioch.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mildred; his daughter, Margo (Gregory) Leden of Rockton, IL; his grandchildren, Nathan (Jennifer) Leden of Lemont, IL, Dale (Lisa) Leden of Rockford, IL, Nicholas Leden of Tempe, AZ, and Andrew Leden of Rockton, IL; and his sisters, Bernice Armstrong and Ellen Petersen.
Carl was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence, Henry, Roy and Joseph; and three sisters, Marie, Anne and Pauline.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at St. Ignatius Episcopal Church, 500 Depot St, Antioch, IL with Rev. Vincent Eckholm officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 2:00 P.M. Thursday until the time of Mass. Those desiring may make contributions, in his memory, to the Church, or the Beloit Regional Hospice, 655 Third St., Suite 200, Beloit, WI 53511. Arrangements are entrusted to the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch.
John Allen Arlington
John Allen Arlington passed away on September 1, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was at his home in Kansas, surrounded by family and friends.
John was born on September 14, 1946 to Clifford John Arlington and Florence Brackett Arlington in Waukegan, Illinois.
John's 37 year career was dedicated to fire fighting, rescue, safety, and training. He began his career with the Waukegan Fire Department, then joined the US Air Force, and later worked for the Civil Service in New Mexico, at O'Hare International Airport (Chicago), and in Michigan. He achieved the rank of Captain in the fire department, and after 15 years of service he moved on to fire prevention and safety training for the Ford Motor Company, while he continued on as a part-paid volunteer fire fighter. In 2001 he retired to pursue his dream retirement career as a campground/RV park owner. In 2002, together with his wife, he established High Plains Camping, in Kansas.
John is survived by his wife Mary; his brother, William Arlington of Deerfield, Illinois; his niece Suzi (Ozzie) and Howie Binder and their three children of Glenview, Illinois; his niece Jani and Jack Graziano and their four children of Arlington Heights, Illinois; his niece Hester (Miss H) Godfrey of Lebanon, New Hampshire; and his special friend Jo Ann Harvath of Oakley, Kansas. He leaves behind countless dear friends and the strong brotherhood of fire fighters across this nation.
As John had requested, following cremation a Memorial Gathering was held on Saturday, September 6, at 1 p.m. at High Plains Camping in Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to either the Colorado Springs Fire Department at 375 Printers Parkway, Colorado Springs, CO 80910, or to the Hospice Services Inc. at P.O. Box 116, Phillipsburg, KS 67661.
Josephine Elma Burt
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, at Highland Memorial, Gurnee for Josephine Elma Burt.
Josephine passed away July 22, 2003 in Largo, Florida at the age of 97. Survivors include her children Len Burt, Ken Burt, Harvey Burt and Laverne (Al) Robertson, 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

JoNell Dahl
JoNell Dahl, 72, of Fox Lake, formerly of Spring Grove passed away on Wednesday, September 24 in her home.
She was born on May 24, 1931 to Linton and Floy (Ogle) Garrett in Gleason, Tennessee. On August 31, 1948 she married
Raymond Dahl in Wauconda, Illinois.
She was actively involved in the Lotus School community. She served on the board of education for over fifteen years, was president of the PTA and chaired numerous committees. She volunteered for the March of Dimes and the Salvation Army fund raising activities. She and her husband enjoyed travel and sailing.
She is survived by her good friend George (Bill) Macklin of Antioch, IL and her daughters, Cheryle Walls of Spring Grove and Rhonda (John) Kabot of Lakeside, California. Other survivors include her six grandchildren, Patrick (Laura) Walls of Denton, TX; Bridget (Terrence) Clark, Lake Villa, IL; Sarah (Paul Jargstorf) Walls, Genoa City, WI; Heather (Marc) Harren, Genoa City, WI; Melanie Kabot, Klamath Falls, OR; and John (Kim) Kabot of Ramona, CA. She has nine great-grandchildren Justin, Tyler and Sarah Kabot, Jane't, Marina, Madison and Jacqueline Polk; and Cody and Jacob Harren. Also surviving are her mother, sisters, brothers and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, her husband and one son-in-law, Thomas Walls.
A celebration of her life will be held for family and friends on October 19, 2003 at 12:30 in the afternoon at Grace Lutheran Church in Richmond, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, the American Lung Association or Grace Lutheran Church.
Carol Sue Deberry
Mrs. Carol Sue Deberry was born in Athens, Georgia on September 7, 1947 to the late James and Mary Evans.
As a child she attended with her parents the historical First African Methodist Episcopal Church. She soon moved to Indianapolis, Indiana with her family and united with 25th Street Baptist Church. She accepted Christ as her savior on October 8, 1956.
Carol graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and attended the Indiana Business College.
Carol united in holy matrimony with Judge Vernon Deberry on June 29, 1968.
After the death of her parents in 1973, Carol with her husband became the parents of her younger siblings, Anthony Evans, Donna Evans, Allen Evans and Kevin Evans. Carol also had three children of her own, Yvette Boyd, Charles Deberry and Amee Patten.
Carol was an active mother and always made sure her children attended church. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years. When she wasn't a stay-at-home mom, she worked for the Indianapolis Public Schools as a teacher.
After becoming ill, Carol was lovingly cared for by her Aunts Mildred Lasley and the late Mattie Corthins. Carol later moved to Waukegan, IL where she lived with her son's family. At her death she lived at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Wilmette, IL. Her strong belief in God is what gave her strength these many years. Carol departed this life on September 24, 2003.
Holding her memory in their hearts are her husband, Judge Deberry of Waukegan, IL; Aunt Mildred Lasley of Indianapolis; children, Yvette (Damon) Boyd of Indianapolis, Charles (Jacqueline) Deberry and Amee (Frank) Patten of Waukegan, IL; sister Donna Evans of Indianapolis; brothers James (Donna) Evans and Allen Evans of Indianapolis, Tony (Theresa) Evans of Houston, TX and Kevin (Heather) Evans of Fort Jackson, SC; as well as several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the 25th Street Baptist Church, 525 W. 25th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Andrew E. Edmonds
Andrew E. Edmonds, 59, of Waukegan, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at his home. He was born September 2, 1944 in North Chicago, IL and was the owner of Andy's Automotive.
Survivors include four children, Kim (Joel) Hunt of Winthrop Harbor, Barbara (Jim) Rodriguez of Waukegan, Laurie (Anthony Sr.) Siorda of Libertyville, Shelly (Dave) Dripps of Waukegan; twelve grandchildren, John Lininger, Michael Edmonds, Nichole Edmonds, Bryanna Rodriguez, Tyler Edmonds-Siorda, Andrew Dripps, Vanessa, Amanda, Ashely, Kylie, Anthony Jr., and Amy; one sister Mary Ann Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene Edmonds; two brothers Larry and Richard, and two sisters, Rosella and Daisey.
Wake services will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St. Burial will be private. Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Carol A. Hetzel
Carol A. Hetzel, 71, of Lake Ville, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, IL.
She was born in Berwyn, IL on October 23, 1931, the daughter of the late Emil and Mildred Anderle. She was a life long summer resident of Lake County, and became a permanent resident of Lake Villa in 1991. She moved there from LaGrange, IL. She was a retired teacher, devoting 32 years to her profession. She enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas, they were married
on December 20, 1975; her children, Michael John Moravek of Lake Villa, Andrew John (Kathleen) Moravek of Downers Grove, IL, Daniel Lee (Cindy) Moravek of Downers Grove, IL; grandchildren, Kala, Michelle, Lexi, Jacob, Corey, and Katie Rose; great-grandchildren, Kala, Sammy, Timmy, Andy and Lance; brother, John (Holly) Andrele of Lake Villa, IL.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carrie Lynn Moravek; and her great-grandson, Dustin.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2003, at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (Rte. 83), Lake Villa, IL 60046, with Rev. Gary Curl officiating. Warren W. Mordhorst
Warren W. Mordhorst passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at St. Therese Medical Center. He was born August 5, 1911 in Waukegan where he lived all of his life. He was retired from Johnson Motors after 35 years of service. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and AARP.
He is survived by his loving wife Lucille. They would have celebrated their 70th Anniversary October 5. He is also survived by his daughter Joanne Leonaitis of Waukegan; his son Ronald (MaryJo) Mordhorst of Belleville, IL; five grandchildren Laurie (Mike) Blinn, Kerrie (Mike) Harwig, David (Vivian) Mordhorst, Mary (Bill) Bertrand and Robert Mordhorst; eight great-grandchildren Matthew (Jennifer) Haas, Greg Haas, Kristie Haas, Jeremy and Brian Jones, Anna and Allison Mordhorst, and Eleanor Bertrand; his sister Velona Lefco of Madison, WI; two sisters-in-law Marian Holem of Gurnee, IL and Kay Chelstad of Sioux City, IA; and one brother-in-law Cinto Martinez of Waukegan; special care givers Ron and Linda Hartke and George and Alice Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Florence Mordhorst; his brothers Clarence, Lester and Floyd; his sisters Evelyn Murphy and Mildred Martinez; son-in-law Walter Leonaitis.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 26 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St. and one hour before the funeral service, which will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 620 Grove Ave., Waukegan, on Saturday, September 27 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Jahn officiating. Interment and graveside service will take place at North Shore Garden of Memories immediately following the funeral services. Mary E. Palmer
Mary E. Palmer, 59, of Park City, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2003 at Midwest Regional Medical Center. She was born April 8, 1944 in Red Bay, AL and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She had been employed as a hairdresser. Mary loved to read, play bingo and dance.
Survivors include her husband Billy; three children, Christy (Moses) Duenos of Christopher, IL, Kimberly (Joseph) Penley of Huntsville, TX, and Shane Palmer of Waukegan, IL; three step children, Randall Palmer of Marritta, MS, Anita Delphine Palmer of Baldwyn, MS, and Rocky Del Palmer of Marritta, MS; nine grandchildren; five step grandchildren; a sister, Linda Keith of Saltillo, MS; an uncle, Harry Lee of Birmingham, AL; as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd. Burial will be at Warren cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
