Laura Marie Wilson (nee Woodard)
Laura Marie Wilson, 54, of Gainesville, FL. died September 10, 2004 at Shands at AGH due to complications from a sudden heart attack.
Mrs. Wilson was born April 8, 1950 in Waukegan, IL., and moved to Gainesville from Norfolk, VA. in 1982. She was a shift supervisor at the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center.
Survivors include her husband John J. Wilson of Gainesville; sons Ian Isom and Jay Robert Isom, both of Gainesville; brothers Roger (Jeanette) Woodard of Phoenix, AZ, and James (Deborah) Woodard of Zion, IL, and a sister Linda Woodard of Waukegan, IL.
She was preceded in death by her brother Jon Robert Woodard and her parents Robert L. and Jeanne L. Woodard.
Funeral services were held at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Gainesville, FL, on September 17, 2004.

Vyola A. Churchill
Vyola A. Churchill, 91, of Libertyville, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2002 at her home. She was born January 2, 1911 in Goteborg, Sweden and came to live in the United States in 1912. Vyola had been a Libertyville resident for 61 years and enjoyed crafts of all kinds and writing poetry.
Surviving are 1 son, Kent (Edith) Churchill of Bullhead, AZ; 2 daughters, Connie (Edward) Boghosian of Chicago and Barbara Brown of Ingleside; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eva Hagblom, by her husband Howard Churchill, by 1 grandchild, 1 great grandchild, 6 sisters and 1 brother.
Private services for her family were held at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME in Libertyville. Interment will be in Woodruff, Wisconsin. Memorial contributions can be made to the Condell Health Care Foundation, 900 Garfield Ave., Libertyville, IL 60048 in her memory.
Bettelou Davis (Nee Heidenreich)
Bettelou Davis (Nee Heidenreich), 74, of Grayslake, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 at her residence. Born February 7, 1928 in Chicago. The daughter of the late Harry Heidenreich and Audrey Collins.
Former owner of Bills Tavern (Currently known as "Charlie's") until 1984. Member and past president of the Grayslake American Legion Auxiliary #659.
She leaves her children, Barbara (Ron) Goemaat of Lexington, IA; Beverly DePierno of Gages Lake; grandmother of Ronda (Bryan) Duncan of Glenview and Eric (Lisa) Goemaat of Leighton; great-grandmother of Colten and Mackenna Goemaat.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Davis, whom she wed on June 14, 1947 in Lyndon, IL. He preceded her on May 13, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Septmeber26, 2002 at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030 with the Rev. Lisle J. Kauffman officiating. Interment will follow at Avon Centre cemetery in Grayslake. Robert P. Elfering
Robert P. Elfering, 80, of Lake Forest passed away Sunday morning September 22, 2002 at Lake Forest Hospital.
He was born February 18, 1922 in Blevidere, IL, raised in Bristol, WI and graduated from Antioch High School. Robert was a WWII Army veteran, serving as a forward observer/radio telephone operator with the 45th Field Artillery Battalion. He was awarded three Bronze Service Stars and the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for service in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for American Can Co. and was a long time employee of the City of Lake Forest, retiring as a chief operator of the Lake Forest Water Filtration Plant. He was honored as Operator of the Year, 1981, by the Illinois Potable Water Supply Operators Association. He was active in the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus, EAA, Boy Scouts and an avid golfer and hobbyist. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Leona M. Elfering nee Keough; children, Robert Jr. (Coreen), Gary, Diane (Scott) Ronson, Mark and Timothy (Cathy) and grandchildren Elanor, David, Christopher, Andrew, Kathleen and James. He is also survived by his brother, Walter (Annamari) of Lake Forest, sister, Michele, CSJ, of Burr Ridge, brother, Noel (Joanne) of Bristol, WI and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Ruby, sister Mary Corline Morrissey and by brother Felix and Donald. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Gregory Guntharp
Gregory H. Guntharp, Sr. of Spring Grove, age 50, passed away Saturday, September 21 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry. A lifelong resident of Lake County, he was born December 19, 1951 in Kenosha, WI. Deputy Chief Guntharp served the Lake County Sheriff's Department for 28 years. He enjoyed the casinos, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, softball, and most importantly spending time with his cherished family.
Greg was the beloved husband of Sandra Guntharp of Spring Grove. He was also the proud father of Amy (Olda) Kubes of Round Lake, Gregory H. (Kristina) Guntharp Jr. of Antioch, Jim (Diane) Faller of Ingleside, Lori (Eric) Schevikhoven of Antioch, and Joe (Becki) Faller of Johnsburg. Greg was a loving son of Phyllis Guntharp of Fulton, MS: He was a loving brother of Kent (Judy) Guntharp of Tupelo, MS and Elliot (Jann) Guntharp of Fulton, MS. "Grandpa Greg" is also survived by 11 adoring grandchildren, Lisa, Cassie, Jason, Sammie, Eric, Abby, Sinclair, T.J., Lucas, Zak, Josh and the 12th is expected in October. Gregory is also a beloved son-in-law of Lee and Mary Robinson of Antioch as well as many, many, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Travis Guntharp and niece, Lydia Guntharp.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25 at Chain of Lakes Community Church, 23201 West Grasslake Rd., Antioch, IL 60002. Claire Martin
Claire Martin, 81, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 at the Winchester House in Libertyville. She was born January 26, 1921 in Watertown, New York, was a 1939 graduate of Watertown High School and attended Immaculate Heart Academy, also in Watertown. She moved to live in the Chicago area in 1942 and has been a Libertyville-Mundelein area resident since 1955. She was a former switchboard operator at Condell Medical Center and also was employed in the water department for the Village of Mundelein.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandra (Larry) Crooks of Vernon Hills and Pamela Martin of Libertyville; 4 grandchildren, Lauri (Michael) Martin, Brandi (Jamie) Stephens, Scott (Kim) Walker and Jeremiah Crooks; 6 great grandchildren, Tonya, Tori, Nyree, Sandy, Michael and Brianna; 1 brother, Carl Booth of Floral City, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Hilda Booth, by her husband Raymond C. Martin on February 27, 1995 and her brother Robert Booth.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave., Libertyville. Interment will be at Lakeside cemetery in Libertyville.
Margaret C. Merkel
Margaret C. Merkel (nee: See), age 103, of Gurnee, passed away Friday, September 20, 2002 at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. Margaret was born in Adams, MN on October 20, 1899 to Mary and Joseph See, whose family later settled in Marshfield, WI. There she met and married
Anton A. Merkel, who preceded her in death in August 1984. Margaret lived in the home he built for them in Gurnee from 1925 until a week before her death. She and her husband were charter and active members of St. Gilbert Church of Grayslake. Margaret was also active in Lake County Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her devoted two sons and six daughters: Vincent (Verna) Merkel of Arbor Vitae, WI, Thomas (Dee) Merkel of Gurnee, Bernice (Raymond) Fincutter of Elkhorn, WI, Joan (Raymond) Williams of East Moline, Mary (the late John) Callanan of Grayslake, Lois (Carl) Pflieger of Falls Church, VA, Margaret (Richard) Finely of Lindenhurst, IL, Carol (Gary) Haskell of Johnsburg, 43 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a daughter-in-law Iona Merkel of Grayslake. She was preceded in death by her 8 brothers and sisters and her sons Jerome and James.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gilbert's Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be held immediately after at Highland Memorial Park. Frank J. "Shorty" Moser
Frank J. "Shorty" Moser, 86, of Antioch passed away in Kenosha, WI on September 17, 2002. He worked for ComEd for 30 years as a turbine operator at the Waukegan plant before he retired in 1981 at age 62. He was also the Northern Lake County cemetery Sexton for 25 years, a member of the Antioch Moose Lodge, a member of the IBEW Local 1461, and a parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church in Antioch. He was also a former trustee of the Antioch Fire Department.
He was the devoted husband of Freya (nee: Edlmann) Moser whom he wed on November 15, 1945 in Texarkana, TX. He was the loving father of Frank R. (Dorothy) Moser of Garden Prairie, Christine Moser of Waukegan, and Michelle Bailey of Trevor, WI; grandfather of Frank J. and Christopher Moser and Savana Bailey. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, and is preceded in death by his son John Moser who died in 1973.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. Roy E. Palmer
Roy E. Palmer, 88, of Libertyville, IL, passed away suddenly Sunday, September 22, 2002 at his home. He was born December 13, 1913 in Nebraska and had been a Libertyville resident for the past 57 years. Roy was a former roadmaster for the Milwaukee Railroad and also while working for a company that built railroads, was in charge of building the railway over the Oakland Bridge in California.
Surviving are his wife Virginia Palmer of Libertyville; 2 step children, Lauretta (Clark) Palmer of San Antonio, TX and Tom (Sondra) Hort of Kenosha, WI., 11 step grandchildren and many step great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Chet (Joyce) Palmer and Clark (Lauretta) Palmer; 2 sisters, Elva Hyman and Mary Moses.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence (nee Acklam) Palmer in 1962, by his step sons, Russell and Olaf Dahlquist and by 8 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Interment services will be on Thursday at the Graceland cemetery in Racine, WI. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.
Claire A. Prideaux
Claire A. Prideaux, 78, a resident of Calumet, MI passed away suddenly on Sunday September 15, 2002 at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center.
She was born on July 3, 1924 a daughter of the late Waino and Audrey (Woodward) Korri. She attended and graduated from the Calumet High School with the class of 1941. Claire lived in Waukegan, Illinois until 1978 when she returned to the Copper Country and made her home in Laurium. She was married
to Ted Prideaux on October 9, 1942 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1988. She was an active member of the Calumet United Methodist Church and active in the Women's Group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Ward, daughter Cindy and granddaughter Tessa.
Surviving are 2 sons Ted (Fran) Prideaux of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Ward Prideaux (Kim Marjamaa) of Laurium; 6 grandchildren Rachel, Amy, Ashley, Kelly, Ray and Madelaine; 2 sisters Martha (Clyde) Morgan of Oxen Hill, Maryland and Lea Korri of Calumet; an uncle Wesley (Eleanore) Korri; an aunt Florence Korri; a special friend Paul Baroni; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services were held on Thursday September 19, 2002 at Calumet United Methodist with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. The ERICKSON-CROWLEY FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
Julia Ann Uselton
Julia Ann Uselton, age 67 of McHenry, formerly of Richmond, died September 20, 2002 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
She was born November 10, 1934 in Williamson County, Illinois the daughter of Lewis and Agnes Collins Oster. She was married
to Norman L. Uselton on July 20, 1954 in Johnson City, Illinois, and he died July 31, 2001.
A graduate of Johnson City High School, she worked as a secretary for Surge Milk Products in Richmond for nine years.
She was a member of Paul C. Hoffman American Legion Auxiliary in Richmond. She was a member of C.A.A.T.S. car club and enjoyed parades and helping her husband restoring automobiles. She served as a cub scout den mother, enjoyed square dancing and was a certified instructor for aquatic physical therapy, where she made many friends.
Survivors are twin sons Kenneth Dean (Vicki) Uselton of McHenry, Loren Dale (Stacy) Uselton of Normal, IL, four grandchildren Melissa, Scott, Steven and Kristin, and a brother Larry (Denise) Oster of Wilcox, Arizona.
Visitation will be from 3:30 P.M. Tuesday until service time at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at EHORN-ADAMS FUNERAL HOME in Richmond with Rev. Glenn Mensing officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Arthritis Foundation or American Cancer Society.
