Mae E. Studer
Mae E. Studer, 90, of Libertyville, IL., passed away Friday, September 19, 2003 at the Lake Forest Hospital. She was born March 14, 1913 in Libertyville, IL., where she remained a resident all her life.
She was a 1931 graduate of Libertyville High School, a 1935 graduate of Lake Forest College and received her masters degree from Northwestern University. Mae was a high school teacher for most of her career, retiring from New Trier High School in Winnetka. She was also a member of the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society.
Surviving are her sister, Ella Studer of Libertyville; and cousin, Elizabeth Hewitt of Gurnee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Studer; by a sister, Evelyn Ruth; and brother, William Clarence, who both died in infancy; and her sister Dorothy Studer in 1998.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, September 22, 2003 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (RT176) Libertyville. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday at Lakeside cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lakeside cemetery Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 500, Libertyville, IL. 60048, in her memory.

Irma K. Wojtas
Irma K. Wojtas (nee Haaga), 51, of Zion, Illinois, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2003 at Hospice of the North Shore, Skokie, Illinois.
Irma was born September 26, 1951 in Jurva, Finland, came to this country, the DeKalb, Illinois area, in 1956 and graduated from high school in DeKalb. She attended Suomi College in Hancock, Michigan, graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb in 1980 and received her Masters in Education from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois in 1996. She taught in various schools in Chicago and for the past 15 years at Magee Middle School in Round Lake, more recently as Special Education Teacher at Magee. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waukegan where she taught Sunday School and served on the Church Council.
Survivors include her husband Alan; one daughter Hanna Kaarina-Mae Dungjen; one stepson Adam Wojtas; her father and mother Erkki and Kerrtu Haaga of Zion and formerly of DeKalb, Illinois; one brother Eric (Lina) Haaga of Vernon, Connecticut; one sister-in-low Susan McCann of Island Lake, Illinois; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Finland.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at 11:00 A.M., at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 North Delaney Road, Waukegan with Pastor Jeffrey Koth officiating and private cremation to follow. Visitation will be Monday, September 22nd, from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M., at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Memorial donations to Palliative Care Center and Hospice of the North Shore, Evanston, Illinois.

Theda E. Young
Theda E. Young, age 85, of Lake Villa passed away September 21, 2003 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 5, 1917 in Des Moines, IA and has been a resident of Lake Villa for the past 11 years and a member of the Eastern Star.
Theda is survived by her three children: Vearl "Butch" (Sandra) Young of Spring, TX, Jeanne (the late Jack) Schaefer of Ingleside, IL and Judy (Robert) Myers of Lake Villa, IL, nine grandchildren, Kurt (Lucy), Karen (Michael), Dale (Angela), Charles (Cathy), James (Sandra), Scott (Michelle), Shelley (Craig), Ronald (Jennifer), Joseph (Sharron), 13 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Herbert E. Young.

Bruce Malcolm Mibeck
April 29, 1948 - Sept. 19, 2004
Bruce Malcolm Mibeck was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 29, 1948. He was a member of the first graduating class at Carmel High School, Mundelein, and attended DePaul University, before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1968. Following an Honorable Discharge, he completed an M.A. at Mankato State University, Minnesota, where he began a U.S. Army Reserve career which spanned two decades.
Mibeck's civil service career began in 1980, including positions with the Environmental Protection Agency, Great Lakes Naval Hospital, 4th Army Headquarters, Ft. Sheridan, Ft. McCoy, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Federal Railroad Administration, from which he recently retired, as a Hazardous Materials Inspector, following 30 years of service to the United States Government. He was very proud of this final position, pointing out that he took care of the largest train set in the world.
Hobbies included his collection of over 2,000 model cars and trucks. He was a devout Catholic, played the accordion, and was an avid stray dog lover. Loving son, father and grandfather, Mibeck died of heart failure on September 19, 2004.
Survivors include his mother, Genevieve Mibeck, Oceanside, CA; brother, Bryce Mibeck, Victorville, CA; and sister, Renee Mibeck.
He was married to his wife, Mary-Lythe Martha (Czajkowski) of North Chicago for 36 years and they had three children, Blaise, Miles, and Gwyneth. Blaise and wife, Susan (Murphy) live in Grand Forks, ND, with their children, Gaelen, Marguerite and Teresa.
Visitation will be held at the Peterson and Patch Funeral Home, 408 Sheridan Road, Waukegan, from 5-8 on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. Mass will be held Thursday, September 23, 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church in Lake Forest. Burial will follow at St. Mary's cemetery in Waukegan.

Geralda Morillo
Geralda Morillo, age 85, of Waukegan, passed away September 19, 2004. She leaves her loving family to cherish her memory.

Jeremy M. Mugford
Jeremy M. Mugford, 23, of Lindenhurst, IL passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at home. He was born in Dunoon, Scottland on August 29, 1981, the son of David and Robyn Mugford.
He is survived by his parents; his sisters, Shannon and Amber; and his maternal grandmother; Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins who love him and will miss him.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (Rte. 83), Lake Villa, IL, 60045 (two blocks S. of Rte. 132-Grand Ave). Interment will be private. Visitation Wednesday, 4 to 8 PM.

Esther L. Pearce
Park City
Esther L. Pearce (nee Roush) of Park City, and formerly of Pennsylvania and New York, age 71, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan. She was born August 11, 1933 in Gypsy, PA, the daughter of William and Ruth (Clark) Roush.
In 1966, she and her husband, Edward, moved from New York to Park City. Esther was a homemaker and enjoyed baking. She was also a den mother for the Cub Scouts Pack 76 of Waukegan.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Allen Pearce of Park City; a daughter, Ruth Clauson of Beach Park; four sons, Randall (Carmen) Pearce of Waukegan, William Pearce of Antioch, Danny (Janis) Pearce of Waukegan, and Ronald (Becky) Pearce of Round Lake; seven grandchildren, Tricia Beitzel, Edward Pearce, Michael (Cara) Perusky, Adam (Kelly) Bardosy, Jason Leon, Matthew LaForge, and Ryan LaForge; and four great grandchildren, Glenn Clauson, Breanna Beitzel, Michael Perusky Jr., and Ty Perusky; three brothers, Allen (Karla) Dunlap of Cleveland, OH, Edward (Nina) Dunlap of Atlanta, GA, and Dale (Lois) Dunlap of Cleveland, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 23, from 5 PM until 9 PM at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL 60085. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24 at 11 AM at the Christ Episcopal Church, 410 Grand Ave., Waukegan, IL. Interment will be at Pineview cemetery, Beach Park, IL. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 30 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60602 would be appreciated by the family.

Kevin L. Thatcher
Kevin L. Thatcher, 31, of Gurnee, a beautiful soul, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2004 at home after a heroic battle with leukemia. He was born January 13, 1973 in Highland Park, IL.
He worked for Campanella & Sons in Wadsworth, IL, as an Operating Engineer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; one daughter, Katelyn; his parents, Kenneth and Barbara Thatcher of Wildwood; one brother, Brian (Shari) Thatcher of McHenry; one sister, Heather Thatcher of Round Lake Beach; a grandmother, Dorothy Jones of Lincolnshire; his in-laws, Troy and Lois Grossman of Twin Lakes, WI; a brother-in-law, Philip (Karen) Grossman of Kansasville, WI; grandparents-in-law, Edwin and Helen Henningfield of Union Grove, WI; loving uncle of Peyton, Haley, Quinn, and Evan; many aunts, uncles, and friends. Also his loving dogs Roscoe and Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Margaret Thatcher; and Melvin Jones.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2004 at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee, 305 cemetery Rd, with Reverend Lisle Kauffman, officiating. Burial Highland Memorial Park. Visitations will be held on Thursday from 4-9 PM and on Friday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.

Robert Lee Wirtanen
Robert Lee Wirtanen, 73, of Ingleside, IL passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at his home. He was born in Waukegan, IL on March 6, 1931, the son of the late William and Elizabeth Wirtanen. He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 1987.
Memorial Services will be at 10 AM Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (Rte. 83), Lake Villa, IL, 60046 (two blocks S. of Rte. 132-Grand Ave) with Rev. Terry Breum officiating. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, IL. Visitation Wednesday, 9 to 10 AM.

Steve Church
Steve Church, 52, of Waukegan died on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at St. Therese Medical Center, Waukegan.
Steve was born October 31, 1949 in Chicago and moved to Waukegan 10 years ago from Burbank, Illinois. He was a member and very active in Westminister Presbyterian Church of Prairieview, Illinois and he had been employed at the Waukegan Post Office since 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Janette, whom he married on June 7, 1985 in Burbank, Illinois; three children Corina Church of California, Robert Opuya of Oregon and Kathy (John) Chellberg of Orland Park, Illinois; grandchildren Alex, Adam, Ryan and Rebecca Chellberg; his father Robert Church of Chicago; and one sister Kathy Church also of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ann Church and by one daughter Jacqueline Ehrenhaft.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Pastor Charles Brown of Westminister Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until time of services at the Funeral Home. Interment will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill cemetery, Mt. Carrol, Illinois.

Harold R. DeTogne
Harold Richard DeTogni (DeTogne), 83, of Libertyville, IL died on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in North Chicago, Illinois. Born to Lino and Georgina (Del Bigio) DeTogni in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on August 23, 1919, he came to the U.S. with his parents and younger brother Albert in 1923. Ultimately settling permanently in Waukegan in 1926 when his father took a job helping to build the Waukegan Coke Plant, he attended Central and Whittier grade schools and graduated from Waukegan Township High School in January, 1938. In April, 1941 he entered the U.S. Army and served in World War II for over four years in the Pacific Theatre with Company A of the 43rd Engineers. While oversees, he was awarded the Asiatic Theatre Ribbon with four Bronze battle stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze battle star.
Upon discharge from the service in 1945 he returned to Waukegan and worked for Bell Electric, Sager Lock, and Fansteel Metallurgical Corporation. In 1947, he and brother Albert established Del's Electric Motor Service in Waukegan. He retired in 1994.
DeTogni attended St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir at one time. He was also a life member of Waukegan's Anchor and Ark Masonic Lodge #1027, The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #706, and American Legion Sharvin Post #397 in North Chicago. An active participant in a number of American Legion activities over the years, he performed with the Sharvin Post's award-winning Red Jackets Drum & Bugle Corps in the late '40s and early '50s.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Martha (Lahti), whom he married on June 2, 1951. The couple lived together in unincorporated Warren Township for the past 47 years in the home they helped build. Other survivors include his son Gregory (Leslie Vinson) DeTogne of Libertyville; two granddaughters, Alexa Glade DeTogne and Ariana Sky DeTogne; his brother Albert (Olga) DeTogne of Waukegan; one niece, Claire (William) St. John of St. Charles, IL; one nephew, Thomas (Alexandra) DeTogne of Arlington Heights, IL; three grandnieces and two grandnephews, a dear sister-in-law Thelma (the late Albert) Larsen of Conover, WI; two aunts in Canada, Malvina "Vi" (the late Earl) Sykes and Violet (the late William) Del Bigio; many cousins in Canada and the U.S., and a long, long list of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and a niece, JoNell DeTogne Sutton. Knowledgeable and conversant on many topics, he was a serious gardener with an avid interest in the outdoors and camping. He will always be remembered for his quick, wry wit, unyielding sense of humor, and love of life. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on September 28, 2002 at 11 A.M. at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 N. Delany Road in Waukegan, with the Reverend Jeffery Koth officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Harold DeTongi's name may be made to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 N. Delany Road, Waukegan, IL 60087; the VA Medical Center Community Affairs office at 3001 Greenbay Road, North Chicago, IL 60064 (please designate either Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services or Volunteer Services); the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #706, 2755 Washington Street, Waukegan, IL 60085 (please designate "Mooseheart"); or any charity of your choice.
