Joseph Lopez
Joseph Lopez, 88, of Beach Park, died on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at home following a long illness. Joseph was born June 2, 1914 in Des Moines, Iowa and came to Waukegan in 1933 from Chicago.
On October 14, 1940 he married
the late Inocencia Escobedo in Des Moines. He was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church of Brach park and retired from North Shore Foundry in North Chicago. He was active in local Waukegan baseball and coached the traveling team and he was active in area Scouting programs and active as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Explorer, serving as Scout Master and Leader of Explorers, retiring as a Scout Commissioner.
Survivors include four children: Joseph J. (Doris) Lopez of Beach Park, Bernard G. (Shirley) Lopez of Waukegan, Mercedes (Ron) Hemersbach of Gurnee and Donald Jack (the late Shirley) Velasquez of Miami, FL; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Regaldo of Chicago.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Bernard, by one sister, Nellie Munoz and by three brothers, Vernon and John Velasquez and Tony Lopez.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 21, 2002 from 8:30 until 10:30AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, then going to Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park for a Mass at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.
Memorial donations to Vista STAR Hospice have been suggested.
Mary A. McRae
Mary A. McRae (nee Behm) age 75, of Clearwater, FL, died Saturday, July 13, 2002 at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park, FL. She was born in Fremont Twp., IL and worked for many years as a dental hygienist for VHA North Chicago and Great Lakes Naval Station. She moved from Des Plaines, IL to Clearwater, FL in 1976 and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Largo, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross McRae and a step-daughter, Cynthia, her parents, Marcus and Catherine Behm, two brothers James and Raymond Behm and two sisters Frances Paddock and Florence Miller.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Linda Kelly) Stemwedel, Jr., Boulder, CO, Sandra (Douglas McKinney) Stemwedel, Indian Springs, OH, and Kim Wanamaker-Stemwedel, Denver, CO; a brother Ralph Behm, Park City, IL; sisters Helen Hall of Libertyville, IL, Rose Schulz, Clearwater, FL, Virginia (Fred) Vasey and Viola (Ernie) Plotz, both of Grayslake, IL; stepdaughter Cathy (Ron) Gahart of Libertyville, IL and stepsons Collin (Mary) McRae, Ingleside, IL, Cameron (Susan) McRae, Nevada, and Cary McRae, Wadsworth, IL. She had eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Kathleen Behm, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Betty Ford.
A memorial service will take place at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 22333 W. Earhart Rd., Mundelein (Fremont Center) on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at 10:00 AM with interment of her ashes immediately following the church service in the church cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held in the church from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest masses or donation to American Cancer Society or Arthritis Foundation.
Dorothy M. Nilsson
Dorothy M. Nilsson, 79, of Palm Harbor, Florida died on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at Mease Countryside Hospital, Palm Harbor, Florida.
Dorothy was born June 9, 1923 in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Florida in 1979 from Elk Grove Village, Illinois. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Walgreens and she belonged to Espiritu Santo Catholic Church of Safety Harbor.
Survivors include one son, Charles E. Nilsson of Elkhart, Indiana; one daughter Mary Beth Nilsson of Zion; and one sister Toni Bisig of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed in 1997 and by her father and mother Mary Elizabeth (Everich) and George Bisig.
Services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2002 at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Rev. Jann of Our Lady of Humility Church officiating. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.
Theodore S. Rzepecki
Theodore S. Rzepecki, 76, of Beach Park died on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at Kenosha Care Center, Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Theodore was born July 2, 1926 in Phillips, Wisconsin. He entered the U.S. Navy upon graduation from High School and came to Waukegan after honorable discharge from the Navy at Great Lakes. Upon retiring from OMC in Waukegan as a Supervisor, he returned to his hometown of Phillips, Wisconsin, returning to Kenosha in 2000. He was a member of the former Zion Lions Club, the Zion-Benton Moose and he coached baseball for Beach Park Little Leagues.
Survivors include his former wife Lillian E. Kirkwood of Phoenix, Arizona; a son, Kirk S. Rzepecki of Beach Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Anna Rzepecki.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Pastor Jeffrey Koth of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waukegan officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial donations to the Winthrop Harbor Lions Club for Blind Activities has been suggested.
Billie L. Sinkhorn
Billie L. Sinkhorn, 70, of Round Lake, IL., passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at the Pebblebrook Health Care Center in Lake Bluff.
She was born December 3, 1931, in Fairston, Kentucky, was a former resident of Napoleon, Ohio and has lived in Round Lake for the past two years. She was a member of the Round Lake Church of God and a retired employee of the Campbell Soup Co, in Napoleon, Ohio.
Surviving are her son, Wendell Sinkhorn of Napoleon; a brother, George (Betty) Dugger of Laurel County, KY and a nephew, Charles (Alice) Dugger of Round Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie Eugene Sinkhorn in 1996.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21 in Corbin, KY with interment in Brown cemetery. Arrangements are by the

Corey Ray Van Hook
Corey Ray Van Hook, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on September 3, 2002. Corey was born on May 7, 1982 in Highland Park, IL. He attended Mechanics Grove Elementary, and Carl Sandburg in Mundelein, IL, Viking Jr. High and Warren Twp. High in Gurnee, IL and Grayslake High in Grayslake, IL. He was employed by RCI of Phoenix. Corey made his parents proud, his grandpa sweat, his brothers work harder, his sister feel protected, his nephews feel taller, his cousins feel connected and all of us feel loved. He brought to all of his family and friends laughter, passion, and fires we never dreamed existed.
He is survived by his father David W. Van Hook Sr., mother Cynthia A. Rusin, step-mom Shirley Van Hook, sisters Marisa M. and Ana M. Van Hook, Tricia A. (Ted) Mathis, brothers David W. Jr., and Jacob M. (Laurie) Van Hook, grandparents Edmund S. Rusin, James L. and Carol Van Hook Sr., Evelyn M. Powel, great grandmother Hazel M. Van Hook, aunts Debra Oliver, Diana Monninger, Kelly Jaster, Melanie and Christy Van Hook, uncles Ed Rusin, Robert Oliver, Andy Monninger, Ron Jones, Jim, Jeff, John, and Casey Van Hook.

Sandra L. Wasserman
Sandra L. Wasserman, age 56, of Bristol, Wisconsin, passed away at Kenosha Hospital & Medical Center in Kenosha, WI on Sunday, September 15, 2002, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Libertyville, IL on December 2, 1945, the daughter of Ellen Petersen and the late Leonard Schneider. She loved baseball and bingo.
She is survived by her husband, Ira; her mother, Ellen Petersen of Lake Villa, IL; her sisters, Vi (Don) Kluth of Lake Villa and Linda (Bill Blumthal) Hensgen of Antioch, IL; her sister-in-law, Helen Breaseke of Hollywood, FL and a nephew, Aaron Hensgen. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Schneider, her step father, William Petersen and her sister, Judy Anderle.
Funeral arrangements were private and under the care of RINGA FUNERAL HOME, Lake Villa, IL.
M. Jean Busey Yntema
M. Jean Busey Yntema, 104, of Springfield, IL died at her home on Wednesday, September 18, 2002. Mrs. Yntema was born July 16, 1898 in Urbana, IL, a daughter of George W. Busey and Kate Baker Busey. In 1923, she married
Leonard Francis Yntema.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her older sister, Garreta Helen Busey in 1976; and by a son, Douwe Busey Yntema, who was her eldest child, in 2000.
In 1920, Mrs. Yntema earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois. She taught for a year at Crossnore, NC in the mountains, before continuing graduate work in Chemistry at the U. of I. She was a homemaker. In Webster Groves, MO in the 1930's and early 1940's she served on the Webster Groves School Board and worked with the NAACP to imporve education for black children in a time and place when schools were segregated. In Waukegan, IL and Wadsworth, IL, 1943-1982, as an early member of the Dunesland Preservation Society, she worked for the establichment of the Illinois Beach State Park. She was also active in state and national conservation organizations, serving as an early board member of The Nature Conservancy. In 1982 she moved to her daughter's nome in Clearlake Township in Sangamon County, IL. She donated, as a nature preserve, the home she and her husband had built near Wadsworth.
Surviving are her son, George Busey Yntema of Bolton, Connecticut; her daughter, Mary Katherine Yntema of Springfield, IL; two granddaughters; and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday at the Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester, IL from 5 to 7 PM. Burial will be at Mt. Hope cemetery, Urbana, IL on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at 1 PM.

Ann E. Czosek Zischke
Ann E. Czosek Zischke, 89 of Libertyville, Illinois passed away on August 11, 2002 at Long Grove Manor Nursing Home. She was born on June 5, 1913, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and had been a resident of Libertyville for the past 14 years. In 1932 she married
Erwin R. Czosek in Chicago, Illinois. After 47 years of marriage he died in 1979. They lived their last 25 years together in Port Charlotte, Florida. She later married
Arthur Zischke, who died in 1994.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Czosek and a brother, Frank Kaiser.
Ann leaves to cherish her memory her survivors, including a son, Irwin (Marilynn) Czosek of Libertyville, IL. Also five grandchildren David (Janet) Czosek of Vernon Hills, IL; Linda (Daniel) Harriman of Round Rock, Texas; Gary (Suzanne) Czosek of Wadsworth, IL; Janet (Michael) Skalitzky of Kenosha, Wis. and Paul (Jennifer) Czosek of Gurnee, IL. Also twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday September 22, 2002 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave., Libertyville, IL.
Demetrise Tucker Dunlap
Demetrise Dunlap, 30, of Waukegan, IL passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2003. She was the beloved daughter of Eleanor (Pete) Phifer of Waukegan, IL and Lorenzo (Kimberly) Tucker II of Zion, IL.
She is survived by her husband, James Ellis Dunlap, three children, Deja, 11, Demaya, 5, and James III, 3 months; one sister, Degra (John) Roberts of Highland Park, IL; one brother, Lorenzo Tucker III of Las Vegas, Nevada and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

Donald R. Gilbertson
Word has been received that Don Gilbertson, 66, of Key West, FL, died July 26th at his home from cancer. Don was born April 19th, 1937 in Fort Dodge, IA. His family moved to the Mundelein area in 1950.
Don is survived by his wife in marriage, Ulla Gilbertson; daughters, Anna (Randal Mills), Jenna (Chris Bassil) and son Jens; grandfather to Jessica, Bailey, Amand and Drew. Don will be remembered as a loving brother to Carol Payton of Libertyville.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard and Mildred Gilbertson, sons Jay and Brett, brother-in-law John Payton and nephew Scott Payton.
Interment was private.
