Florence T. Bonk
Florence T. Bonk, 92, of Libertyville, IL., passed away Monday, September 16, 2002 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
She was born April 29, 1910 in Chicago, she was a former resident of Wildwood Living in Libertyville since 1975. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish and the Guild of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Libertyville and was an active volunteer at the Liberty Towers, where she was a former volunteer of the year.
Surviving are three children, Gordon (Eileen) Bonk of Tucson, AZ., Nancy Hutchings of Gurnee and Joyce (Victor) Castle of Australia; seven grandchildren, Larry Bonk, Julie (Ralph) Calvano, Michael Bonk, Gary Hutchings, Thomas (Nancy) Hutchings, Tammy Hutchings and Melissa (Nick) Pollotta; eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Bonk in 1968, by her son-in-law, Dwayne Hutchings in 1967 and by 10 brothers and sisters.
Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2002 at THE BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville and services will continue with Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Interment will be at Maryhill cemetery in Niles. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in her memory.
Glenda M. Fortune
Glenda M. Fortune, 58 of Waukegan, IL, departed this life on September 13, 2002 at Lake Forest Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She retired from Great Lakes Naval Hospital as a Credentials Specialist.
She is survived by her son, Adrian Fortune of Waukegan, IL; her daughter, Candace Fortune, M.D. of Sacramento, CA; two sisters, Gloria P. Thomas of Waukegan, IL and Judith Alexander of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Bobby Pickens of Greensboro, NC; an uncle, George Pickens of Warsaw, VA; two grandsons, Viktor and Ian Fortune of Waukegan, IL; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2002 at First Corinthian Baptist Church located at 1529 Elizabeth Avenue, North Chicago, IL. Interment following funeral services at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services.
James W. Irving
James W. Irving, 22 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Monday September 16, 2002 at his home. He was born September 7, 1980 in Waukegan, the son of Donald and Marcia (Porter) Irving. He graduated from Antioch Community High School in 1998 and was currently attending the College of Lake County pursuing a Criminal Justice degree. For the past five years Jim worked at Wilson Leathers in Gurnee Mills and was presently the assistant manager. Jim enjoyed being with friends, playing video games and was a hard worker.
Survivors include his parents, one brother, Brad at home; his maternal grandmother, Irene Baamonde of Hudson, FL; his paternal grandmother, Jean Irving of Antioch and his aunts, uncles, cousins and girlfriend, Julie Mall.
Funeral services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 19, 2002 at St. Peter Church, Antioch, IL. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 PM Wednesday at STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL.
Thomas P. Kane
Thomas P. Kane, 80, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2002 at the Lake Forest Hospital. He was born January 26, 1922 in San Diego, CA and was a former 40 year resident of Oakland, CA. Mr. Kane was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Alameda, CA and St. Mary's College in Morago, CA. He was a US Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre during WW II, was a former member of St Therese Parish in Oakland and a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville.
Surviving are 2 children, Mark Kane of Oakland, CA and Mary Marshall of Libertyville; 3 grandchildren, Christina Grappo, Evan and Kathryn Marshall. He was preceded in death by wife Marion E. Kane in 1999, by a son David and sisters Bernadette and Margaret.
Private services are being held from the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME in Libertyville. A memorial mass with interment at Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Hayward, CA is pending.
Leo Keisler
Leo Keisler, 80 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Sunday, September 15, 2002 at Pebblebrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lake Bluff, IL. He was born September 26, 1921 in Long Grove, IL the son of the late Herman and Rose (Miller) Keisler. Leo lived in the area most of his life, graduating from Antioch High School in 1939. He served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII and was a life member of the VFW Post #4308 of Lake Villa and member and past president of the Board of Directors for the Lake Villa Canteen Veteran's Club. Leo was also a former member of the Antioch Fire Department, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #525 of Antioch and the Antioch Lions Club.
Leo was a self employed electrician and had worked at Sherwood Park in various capacities since his teens until his retirement this year.
On March 1, 1941 he married
Helen Horton in Iowa and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet (Stephen) Krumm of Kenosha, WI and a son, Lance (Janet) Keisler of St. John, Virgin Islands; one grandson, Kurt (Deanna) Krumm; two great grandchildren, Parker and Kendall Krumm; two sisters, Alta Smith of Friendship, WI and Gladys (Roy) Aronson of Genoa City, WI; two brothers, Lawrence (Lois) Keisler of Salem, WI and Herman (Betty) Keisler of Lake Geneva, WI; his brother-in-law, Gordon Volling, Sr., of Antioch and his sister-in-law, Jeanette Keisler of Antioch. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Laurene Volling and one brother, Elmer Keisler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 20, 2002 at STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83). Interment with military honors will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 PM Thursday with VFW services at 7:00 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Antioch Fire Department in his memory.
Tammy Lynn (Phelps) Rivera
Tammy Lynn (Phelps) Rivera, 44, of Park City, IL passed away suddenly September 14, 2002 at St. Therese Hospital.
Tammy was born May 16, 1958 in Waukegan, IL.
She attended Waukegan Schools. She received her Professional Master Supervisor Certificate from Northern Illinois Business Association in 1995. She received her Associate Degree from Concordia University in Wisconsin. She was employed by Cherry Electric for 25 years. She also worked at Kohls in Gurnee. She was an avid Bears Fan and loved her two grandchildren and her two boys.
She is survived by her sons, Eusebio, Jr. (Brittany) and Michael (Dina); two grandsons, Eusebio (Joey) and Evan Michael. Also survived by sisters, Sandi (Dennis) Crawford, Barbara (Manuel) Serreno, Karen (Benji) Comas, Joan Cantrell, Betty (Terry) Terran, Joyce (Joe) Juliano; brother James (Becky) Phelps; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws and special friends, Elvia Lopez and Meaney Franklin.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Eusebio; her parents, James and Lorraine Phelps.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2002 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.

Helen Gaede
Helen Gaede, 86, of Gurnee, Illinois, passed away on September 16, 2003 at her home. She was born in Waukegan, Illinois on June 30, 1917 and was the daughter of the late Lars and Christine Rasmussen.
She was a member of the Waukegan Emblem Club, Gurnee Women's Club, the Moose and Christ Episcopal Church. She loved to bowl and golf but her favorite activity was her charity work. She and a friend started the "Tabs for Vivian" drive.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Larry) Dempski of Gurnee, a granddaughter, Laura (Andrew) Johnson and a grandson, Kelly (Rachel Scherrer) Dempski. She has one brother John (Betty) Rasmussen, one sister, Clara Wells and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.
Visitation will be held on September 19, 2003 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at North Shore Garden of Memories Chapel, Green Bay Rd., North Chicago. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rush Hospice Partners, 800 N. Westmoreland, Suite LL10, Lake Forest, IL 60045.
Joseph Hernandez
Joseph Hernandez, 73, of Gages Lake, passed away at his home September 14, 2003. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 11, 1930, the son of the late Nicholas and Sabina (nee Maestre) Hernandez. He was an Army veteran having served from 1948-1952. He worked as an ironworker with the Local 8, and was a member of the Laborers Local 1. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 771 in Gurnee, and an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his children, Cindy (Dirk) Skelley of Grayslake; Carol Hernandez of Grayslake; and Joe Hernandez of Antioch; his grandchildren, Brett, Brittany, and Drew Skelley of Grayslake; and Joey, Jacqueline, Christian, Jeremy, and Justin Hernandez of Antioch; his brothers, Hank (Maryjean) Hernandez of Mundelein; John (Jeanie) Hernandez of Mundelein; and his sisters, Cathy Donahue of Grayslake; Mary (Bob) Gregory of Fox Lake; Juanita (Paul) Russo of Hazelcrest; and Gloria Browne of Mundelein. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Dolores (nee Rocha) Hernandez in 1998; his daughter, Christina Hernandez in 1996; and four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral mass is at 10AM on Friday, September 19, 2003 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Lillian nee "Kerpan" Nagode
Lillian nee "Kerpan" Nagode, age 74, of Park City, passed away September 17, 2003 at St. Therese Hospital. She was born October 11, 1928 in North Chicago where she resided most of her life. She married
her husband, John, on September 22, 1951. Worked at the Lake County Court House.
Survivors include daughters, Janeen Yeager and Cindy Nagode. Grandchildren Jessica, Andrea and Amanda. Brothers Joseph (Virginia) and John (Dolores) Kerpan. Sisters Mary Kerpan, Katherine Chumbley, Frances Magri and JoAnn Williams.
preceded in death by Brothers Ben and Pete Kerpan and sister Mildred "Millie" Swan.
Services and interment will be private.
Randy D. Simplot
Randy D. Simplot, 44, of Zion, died on Friday, September 12, 2003 at home.
Randy was born February 15, 1959 in Lawton, Oklahoma, grew up in Monroe Center, Illinois and moved to Zion after graduating from Stillman Valley High School in Stillman Valley, Illinois. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church of Wadsworth and he had worked for Lake County Movers for years and later for American Processing in Gurnee.
Survivors include his wife, Lorrie, whom he married
on October 17, 1987 at St. Dismas Church in Waukegan; children Sara, Megan and Andrew; his mother Donna Simplot of Necedah, Wisconsin; one sister Melody Henson of Rockford; and one niece Melissa Forrester of Byron, Illinois; one great-nephew Cody also of Byron; his maternal grandmother Aldean Fuller of Beloit, Wisconsin; and other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Simplot in 1997, by paternal grandparents Warren and Ruth Simplot and by maternal grandfather Britton Fuller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Wadsworth. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation will be Friday, September 19th, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A trust fund is being established for Megan and Andrew Simplot - memorial donations may be sent c/o Bank of Waukegan, any branch.
Jessie Wantola
Jessie Wantola (nee Janeczko) age 82 of Grayslake, IL passed away September 16, 2003 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. She was born in Chicago May 20, 1921 and made her home in Warren Township for the past 50 years working as a beautician. She was member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church, the Polish National Alliance #1164, Chicago, Grayslake Friendship Club, University of Illinois Homemakers Avon Unit, St. Gilbert's Leisure Club, Warren Township Senior Citizens, and the A.A.R.P.
Jessie is survived by her daughter Camille (Kenneth) Nale of Grayslake, her son Matthew (Robin) Wantola of Druce Lake, four grandchildren Karla Nale, Aubrey, Matthew, and Robert Wantola, her sister-in-law Sophie (Lou) Bassi, and her cousin Loretta (Dan) Petty.
Her husband, Matthew S. Wantola, precedes her in death, as well as her parents Cyprian and Karolina Janeczko; brother Walter Janeczko, step-father John Kaziol, grandson Kenneth Nale, sister-in-laws Valepia (Joe) Suor and Irene Marek. She leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be held at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville, IL. Eusilva Shiela Williams
Eusilva Shiela Williams (Callum) was born January 10, 1958, Trelawny Jamaica. Eusilva was the child of Therisa McNish and Daniel Callum. She went to be with her Savior on September 13, 2003.
Eusilva was a God fearing, humble, caring person and friend. She was especially a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister. Eusilva lived her life the way God intended her to. Rest in Peace.
She was a faithful member of the New Testament Church of God, in North Chicago, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, leader of Young People Group and a prayer leader.
Eusilva leaves to mourn her husband and best friend, Osbourne Williams; her mother Therisa McNish; four children Marsha Williams, Charm Williams-Henry, Osbourne Williams Jr. and Kaream Williams; grandson Daniel Williams; sister Ireta Boatner; two nephews, three nieces, and relatives and friends.
We love her very much and will miss her terribly. Her departure will leave a huge void in our hearts. She will always be remembered.
Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. Saturday until time of service at new Testament Church of God, 1001 10th St., North Chicago, with services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at North Shore Garden of Memories.
