Ted C. Larson, well known Lake County attorney who practiced in Antioch from 1950 until 1987, passed away January 4, 2001.
Survivors include his wife Joan (nee Miller).
Memorial Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83). Private interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Irene R. Lingo
Irene R. Lingo, 83 years old of Antioch, IL. passed away Sunday, March 25, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Medical & Rehab Center, Burlington, WI. She was born September 26, 1917 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Alois and Rose (Bach) Korn. Mrs. Lingo had lived in Chicago before moving to Antioch in 1972 where she was a member of St. Peter Church, AARP, was active with the Antioch Senior Center and loved to travel. In her earlier years, she worked for Continental Bank in Chicago as a mail clerk. In December of 1941 she married Edgar Weeks and he preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1958. She later married Earl Lingo in May of 1961 and he passed away on February 18, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas C. (Aniela) Weeks of Antioch and Richard L. (the late Dolores) Weeks of Kankakee, IL.; one daughter Patricia (Rolf) Behr of Twin Lakes, WI.; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Todd), Brian, Kristin, David and Thomas; one great grandson, Justin; two brothers, Thomas F. (Joann) Korn of Heber Springs, AK., and Lawrence Korn of Wauconda, IL.; and one sister, Dolores (Joseph) Wasko of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by one brother, James Korn.
Funeral services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 29, 2001 at St. Peter Church, Antioch, IL. Interment will be in Willow Lawn cemetery, Mundelein, IL. Friends may call at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch from 4 until 8 P.M. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Lung Association in her memory.

Louis J. Marolt, Sr.
Mass of Christian Burial for Louis J. Marolt, Sr., 84, of Waukegan, Illinois is at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 29, 2001. at Santa Maria del Popolo Chapel, 116 S. Lake St. (Route 45) Mundelein. Interment will follow in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. He was born June 19, 1916 in Waukegan and died Sunday March 25, 2001 at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan.
A lifelong resident of Waukegan, Lou was an officer and member of the St. Mary's KSKJ #79, a member of the US Steel Wiremill Club. He loved to play the button box, fish, golf and make fresh sausage.
He is survived by his 3 children: Kathy (Jules) Ptasienski of Montello, WI., Lou (Sand0 Marolt Jr. of Gurnee, and Gary (Sue) Marolt of Waukegan, his brother Edward (Barbara) Marolt also of Waukegan, 2 sisters: Josephine (Tony) Stritar of Waukegan and Frances Ogrin of Waukegan, 9 grandchildren: Ray, Brian, Eileen (Jerry), Jason (Robin), Jeff, Jackie, Amanda, Kelly and Kevin, and 4 great grandchildren Samantha, Shelby, Stephen and Alex. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, son Joseph, 2 brothers John and Albert, 2 sisters Helen and Jennie and his grandson Michael.

Frances Mozek
Frances Mozek, 100, of Waukegan, Illinois died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at her home.
She was born July 19, 1900 in Rakitna, Slovenia and had lived in Waukegan the last 83 years.
She retired from Greiss Pfleger Tannery in 1972 after 35 years of service. She was a member of S.N.P.J. Sloga Lodge #14.
Frances is survived by a loving daughter, Anne (Frank) Stupar; five grandchildren, Denise (Brad) Parton of Waukegan, Susan (Mark) Havert of Lake Villa, Brad, Jenn and Jill Widseth of Minneapolis, MN; two great grandchildren, Lorri Anne and Elizabeth Havert; and a son-in-law, Dean Widseth of Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Mozek in 1978; and a daughter, Emily Widseth.
Visitation for Mrs. Mozek will be from 8:30 to 10 AM on Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at the SALATA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 729-14th Street, North Chicago, IL where services will be held at 10 AM with interment to follow at North Shore Garden of Memories.
Donations in her memory may be to Star Hospice of Provena St. Therese Medical Center.

Thomas James Sorenson
Thomas James Sorenson, 51, of Lake Bluff, died Saturday, March 24, 2001.
He was born March 9, 1950 at Lake Forest Hospital. Tom was a manager at McCormicks Restaurant, Lake Bluff. He was well known for his "theme parties" such as Pumpkin Fest, Derby Day party, and the annual golf outing and other non-sanctioned events such as The "Beaner". A 1968 graduate of Lake Forest High School, Tom excelled in several sports and continued his love of sports throughout his life.
He is the loving son of Lois (nee McCormick) Sorenson and the late Samuel James Sorenson, Jr.; dear brother of John of Madison, WI, Mark of Dallas, TX, Samuel III of Lake Bluff and Anne (Morgan) McCoy; fond uncle of Lisa and Alison Sorenson, T. Morgan, Curtis and Kathleen McCoy; long time companion of Mary Gabanski; grandson of the late: Samuel (Ella Burridge) Sorenson, Sr. and Gilbert (Anna Fitzgerald) McCormick.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at WENBAN FUNERAL HOME, 320 E. Vine Ave, Lake Forest. Funeral Mass at 11 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest. Interment Private.

Sean LaDale Bankston
Sean LaDale Bankston was born on September 25, 1969, the son of Angela Bankston (Burton) and Otis Wallace. He was a resident of Lake County, IL. all of his life. He departed this life on March 22, 2001 at Provena St. Therese Medical Center, Waukegan, IL.
Sean confessed Christ at an early age. He was a member of Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C. Clarke and served in the Angel Choir and then the Adult Choir.
He was a graduate of North Chicago Community High School and also attended the College of Lake County. He was a sports enthusiast which included football and baseball. Sean was also a member of the Waukegan Boxing Club, his trainer was Willie Parker. Sean was a young man that was vibrant, jovial and full of life to all who knew him. He was respectful and compassionate. He was employed at Abbott Laboratories and AT&T.;
He leaves to cherish his loving memory; Angela (Bankston) Burton and Larry Burton, mother and stepfather of North Chicago, IL.; Otis Wallace, father, of Coldwater,MS.; Dorothy M. Bankston, sister, of North Chicago, eleven brothers and sisters of Coldwater, MS.; Dorothy and Jesse Sanford, grandparents, of North Chicago; Kimmy and Timmy Littlejohn, Godsister and brother, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins along with very special friends Myia Fields and MaryAnn Brown and special friends Wade, Darien, Steve, Rick, Bryant and Kenny.
He was preceded in death by Rev. Samuel A. Bankston, grandfather; Consuella Fisher, great grandmother; Rev. Sylvester Fisher, great great grandfather and 4 great uncles.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the Christian Valley M.B. Church, 2690 Argonne Drive, North Chicago, IL. with Rev. Clarence Clark, Pastor, Rev. Cyril R. Dietmeyer
Cyril R. Dietmeyer, a life long resident of Wadsworth, Illinois passed away Saturday, March 24, 2001 at Victory Memorial Hospital. He was born February 25, 1913 to Elizabeth and LeRoy Dietmeyer. On July 6, 1940, he married Marian Beshel. He retired from Johnson Motors in 1976. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Wadsworth.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marian; three children, James (Caroline), Margaret (Chris) Bock and Mary; and a daughter-in-law, Karin Dietmeyer, all of Wadsworth; 12 grandchildren, Lisa (Rick) Grosskopf, Kristi (Rick) DeRue, Robert Bock, John Bock, Kerry (Steve) McCaughey, Jennifer Bock, Patrick, James, Jr. and Nathaniel Dietmeyer, Aime (Ron) Gramer, Sarah and Elizabeth Dietmeyer; ten great grandchildren, Amanda and Eric DeRue, Jessica and Danielle Grosskopf, John, Erna, Ginny, Little Cy and Emily Gramer and Christian McCaughey; two sisters, Genevieve Rotundo of Richardson, Texas and Dorothy (Robert) Spesock of Twin Lakes, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John; and a sister, Barbara Stahl.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at St. Patrick's Church (new church), 15000 Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth, IL with Fr. George Dyer officiating. James Mitchell Hahto
James Mitchell Hahto, of Waukegan, IL passed away Thursday, March 22, 2001 at Provena St. Therese Medical Center, Waukegan.
Lead set up man for the sauce department for Ocean Spray Cranberry after 37 years of service.
preceded in death by his parents, John and Molly Hahto.
Survived by three sisters, Molly (Frank) Logan, Margaret Hedrick and Jacqueline Hahto; a brother, John (Marilyn) Hahto; many nieces and nephews; and eight great nieces and nephews.

Col. B. L. (Jack) Jakaitis
Col. B. L. (Jack) Jakaitis, born October 5, 1911 in North Chicago, IL, passed away Friday, March 23, 2001. He graduated from Marquette University in 1934 in Civil Engineering and worked for the State of Illinois as a Civil Engineer prior to entering the U. S. Army. In 1946 he served as CO 1170 Engr GS Regt in Italy. He returned to civilian life and worked as City Engineer in North Chicago. He was recalled to active duty in 1952 and served as Deputy 7 District Engr in Ankara, Turkey, and Athens, Greece, responsible for building military airfields and communication sites. Other assignments include Supervisory Engr OCE Field GP, Washington, DC., Staff Engr 7th Logistical Command, Taegu, Korea and Post Engineer at Fort Sill, OK and Ft. Monroe, VA. Retiring in 1965 he and his wife moved to San Antonio. Col. Jakaitis was an avid golfer at Ft. Sam Houston.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eileen.
Survivors include daughters, Judith Jakaitis of Chicago, IL and Joan Wurzburger and husband, Col. Nils Wurzburger of Heyworth, IL; grandchildren, Dr. Kristin Wurzburger, Wendy Laber, Kathryn Sims and Capt. Scott Wurzburger; and seven great grandchildren; brothers, William, Stanley and Richard Jakaitis; and sisters, Pat Solie and Grace Nascak; and many nieces and nephews. He was a kind, loving and generous husband, father, brother and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 PM Monday, March 26, 2001 at SUNSET FUNERAL HOME. Mass will be celebrated at 1 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VITAS Hospice, 4715 Fredericksburg Rd., San Antonio, TX, 78229.

Charlotte E. Machia (nee Foster)
Charlotte E. Machia (nee Foster), 93, of Waukegan passed away on Friday, March 23, 2001 at Provena St. Therese Medical Center.
She was born August 1, 1906 in Racine, WI and had been a Waukegan resident for 72 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waukegan, Warren cemetery Association, Gurnee Senior's Club and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her children, John (Nancy) Machia of Appleton, WI, Marion (Philip) Hanna of Waukegan, Jim Machia of Waukegan and Joyce (Robert) Klemm of Gurnee; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack I. Machia.
Private graveside services were held at 11 AM Monday, March 26, 2001 at Warren cemetery with Rev. Dr. Gehl DeVore officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of PETERSON AND PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan.

Joel Smalley
Joel Smalley was born June 20, 1931 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He attended public school in Keithville and Shreveport.
He served a tour of duty in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.
On April 7, 1960, he married Pearl Brown. They were the parents of six children. In 1960, the family moved to the Waukegan-North Chicago area.
He was the co-owner of S and W Barber Shop and Food Store on South Genesee Street. After 20 years of service, he retired from Pace Transit Company.
On Thursday, March 22, 2001, he departed this earthly life at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl; two sons, Frank (Bernaditha) Lewis of Rockford, Illinois and Joel Smalley, Jr. of Rapid City South Dakota; four daughters, Connie Brown, Ava (David) Wormely and Annette (Floyd) Wormely of Waukegan, Illinois and Cynthia Coleman of Boyonne, New Jersey; four sisters, Betty Palmore of Gurnee, Illinois, Doris Noel of Las Vegas, Nevada, Patricia Statham of Waukegan, Illinois and Annie Jewel George of Shreveport, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins including special cousins, Bessie and Wilford Norwood; and other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Smalley; mother, Josephine Martin; and a sister, Janie Hutchinson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 2401 Argonne Drive, North Chicago, IL with Pastor Gerald Wilcoxen officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial cemetery, Zion, IL.
Visitation will be at the church Tuesday from 10 AM until time of service. Arrangements by BRADSHAW AND RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL. 847-662-3553.

Katherine Socha (nee Toms)
Katherine Socha (nee Toms), 80, of Round Lake Beach passed away on Friday, March 23, 2001 at her residence.
Born October 22, 1920 in Hartford, KY, the daughter of the late James Toms and Lillian Stone.
Katherine has been a resident of Round Lake Beach since 1950, formerly of Chicago. Retiring in 1981 from Anchor Coupling where she was employed as an inspector.
She leaves her husband, Chester Socha, whom she wed on November 29, 1947 in Chicago; daughters, Barbara (Gerry) Steele of West Bend, WI and Jo Anne Pederson of Round Lake Beach; sons, Walter (Judy) Socha of Lake Villa and Paul (Phong) Socha of Round Lake Beach; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James Toms.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 114 N. Lincoln, Round Lake, IL, 60073. Interment will follow at Windridge cemetery in Cary.
Friends of the family may visit at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATORIUM, LTD, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL, 60030 on Monday March 26, 2001 from 5 to 9 PM.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 777 N. Central Ave, Highland Park, Illinois, 60035 in her memory.
