Andrew P. Drake
Andrew P. Drake, 47, of Ingleside, Illinois passed away September 5, 2001 at his residence. He was born in Chicago on July 24, 1954. An employee of A.T.& T. for 27 years in Chicago and the suburbs. Andrew enjoyed traveling, collecting glassware; snow skiing; scuba diving and gardening.
Survivors include his mother Leona Drake of Port Charlotte, FL., one sister LaKay (Larry) Pinkerman of Port Charlotte, FL., two step-brothers: Chester (Linda) Drake of Stockbridge, GA., and Donald (Becky) Drake of Port Charlotte, FL., an aunt Thelma Sotell of Chicago, eight nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and great-nephews; very close and dear friends Patrick Kerin of Crystal Lake and the Sircher and Gaylor Families. He was preceded in death by his adoptive father; Bud Drake and his grandma Della Zade who raised him.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL. 60030. Interment will be private. Memorial visitation will be from 6-7 P.M. Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at the funeral chapel. Kent F. Gravens
Kent F. Gravens, 39, of Waukegan, Illinois went to be with his Lord on September 9, 2001.
Kent was born February 17, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri and also lived in Delray Beach, Florida and Ethridge, Montana. He was married
to the former Celia DeMarco on January 22, 1988 in Gulfstream, Florida. Kent was employed in cable telecommunications for 15 years and presently worked for AT&T; Broadband as Technical Operations manager. He was a member of the Society of Cable Television Engineers, and a member of Bonnie Brook Baptist Church where he served as an Elder and AWANA Commander.
Kent is survived by his wife, Celia; four children, Jessica, Emily, Mary and Lois; his father and mother, Robert E. and Betty L. Gravens of Delray Beach, Florida; two brothers, Bruce (Susan) Gravens of San Jose, CA., and Mark (Charlene) Gravens of Vicksburg, MS., and a sister, Elaine (Mark) Eckel of Boyton Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Gladys Simpson of Foley, Missouri.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at Bonnie Brook Baptist Church, 12085 W. Yorkhouse Road, Waukegan with Pastor Scott Harrison officiating. A visitation for friends and relatives will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be on Friday at Mt. Olivet Memorial park in Zion with the burial procession leaving the church at 10:00 a.m. Memorials to a special family fund for the education of his children has been suggested. The CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion is serving the family.
Grace E. Hayman
Grace E. Hayman (nee Stevens), 93, formerly of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away September 6, 2001 in San Antonio, Texas.
She and her husband, Julius, owned and operated H & S Distributors for many years in Waukegan. They retired in the early 1970's moving to Arkansas and Florida. Grace moved to San Antonio 3 years ago to be near her caretakers, Dale and Wanda Schaufel.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, her mother and father and 2 brothers, Francis and Howard Stevens. She is survived by many close friends.
A memorial service will be held in Waukegan at a later date.
Fernando T. Hinojosa
Fernando T. Hinojosa, 11 months old of Waukegan, Illinois passed away September 8, 2001 at Victory Hospital. He was born September 22, 2000 in Waukegan, IL.
Survivors include his parents Jose and Gracie Hinojosa, Sr., one brother Jose, Jr., 1 sister Deah Steede, his grandfather Gary Steede, Sr., all of Waukegan, Grandmother Marie Hinojosa of Mexico, 6 aunts: Brenda (Manuel) Garza, Elizabeth Conhartowski of Zion, IL., Maria (Jose) Salinas of North Chicago, Dora, Labra, and Bertha Hinojosa of Mexico, 3 uncles: Gary, Jr. (Dani) Steede of Colorado, Fernando, Jr., and Hector Hinojosa of Mexico, god parents Raul and Deanne Hinojosa of Waukegan and a host of other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at the BRADSHAW & RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL. Interment will be at the Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 12, 2001 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Irene Lovelace nee Miller
Irene Lovelace nee Miller was born March 20, 1931 in Waukegan, IL to the union of Dan and Carrie Lena Miller. She was a lifelong resident of the Waukegan/North Chicago area.
She was the first student to attend Happy Day Nursery School in Waukegan and also attended Waukegan public schools. She graduated from Waukegan Township High School and the College of Lake County.
A lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church, she accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Herbert Davis. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday School until her departure.
On May 12, 1951 she was united in marriage to Elvin Lovelace. They were the parents of two children, Wendy and Karen .
She retired from the Public Works Center Housing Office Great Lakes, IL after more than 30 years of service. She also worked at Foss Park Golf Course for four years.
Her affiliations include: member of Eureka Temple #1172 I.B.P.I.E of IL; Past Daughter Ruler of Eureka Temple; Member of Eureka Temple's Purple Cross Nurses Unit; member of Little Fort Past Daughter Ruler Council; Past Granddaughter Ruler of Jean B. Finch; Past Daughter Ruler Circle; member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA); Lake County Volunteer Probation Officer for over 20 years; member of #140 Order of the Eastern Star; a charter member of the Emblem Chapter; member BET of North Chicago, IL; a member of the Senior Services Committee for Waukegan Township for Park Place.
On Friday morning, September 7, 2001 she departed this earth at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, IL.
Irene leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Wendy Lovelace Lindsey of North Chicago, IL and Karen Lovelace Randolph of Long Beach, CA; a "son" Shelly Wyckoff of North Chicago, IL; two grandsons, Emmet "Buff" and Garren Woods of Zion, IL; and anticipating the birth of a great grandson; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law and a special sister-in-law, Cleo "Babe" Wilson; a son-in-law Brookie Woods of Zion, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including a very dear and special friend, Mr. Harry Wilson of North Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Carrie Lena Miller; her brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Irene Miller; and former husband Elvin Lovelace.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, September 13, 2001 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 800 S. Genesee Street, Waukegan, Illinois with Pastor Walston E. Francis officiating. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memory. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Eureka Temple #1172 rites and Emblem Chapter #140 Rites Order of the Easter Star will be performed at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Bradshaw and Range Funeral Homes, Waukegan, IL 847-662-3553.

Marion Webb Ray
Funeral services for Marion Webb Ray, 78, of Mundelein is 11:30 a.m. Friday, at the Community Protestant Church 418 N. Prairie Ave. Mundelein. Rev. Kenneth Press will officiate. Interment will follow in Diamond Lake cemetery, Mundelein. Webb was born November 19, 1922 in Mundelein and died Monday, September 10, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago, IL. A lifelong resident of Mundelein, Webb served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII, he was a member and past Commander of VFW Post 7191 of Mundelein, a member of the Fort Hill Historical Society and a past member of the Masons.
He is survived by his two sons William (Kathleen) Ray of Rockford, Kevin Ray of Mundelein, his brother Charles (Frances) Ray of Detroit, MI., five sisters Vivian Johnson of Mundelein, Pearl Huebel and Ethel Hankins of New Albany, IN., Betty Ruth (George) Firnbach of Wauconda, Patsy Gimbel of Ogdon, Utah; two granddaughters Abigail, Eryn Rose and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther, his mother and father Will and Ethel M. Ray, five brothers Vance, Ridgely, Knedler, Ted, Jack and his sister Jean Hannah.
Visitation is 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (Route 176) Mundelein. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Community Protestant Church.
Patricia Eileen Schueneman
Patricia Eileen Schueneman, age 78, a longtime resident of Waukegan, Illinois passed away Thursday, September 6, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Stephenson, MI. She was born July 11, 1923 in in Iowa to the late Thomas and Helen (Garvey) Alex. Patricia worked as a Corporate Executive secretary for a Chemical Company for a number of years.
Survivors include her daughter Patty (Jerry) Thomas of Stephenson, grandson Stacey (Lori) Merkling of Carney, MI., granddaughter Kelley (Rob) White of Rice Lake, WI., 5 great grandchildren: Rachael, Pete, Kendra, Karlee and Gary, a aunt Ruth Cole, stepson John (Linda) Schuenman, friends Evelyn and Bob Brock and her much loved dog Chaunsy. She was preceded in death by her husband James C. Neary. Patricia will be missed by good friends David Pell, Gerry Papineau and Ma Decker.

Virginia Mae Wieber
Virginia Mae Wieber, 79, of Lindenhurst, IL passed away at Libertyville Manor, Libertyville, IL on Saturday, September 8, 2001.
She was born in Michigan City, Indiana on March 21, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catheryn Switzer.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lake Villa. She was a homemaker and a volunteer at Victory Lakes Care Center in Lindenhurst and at District 41's B. J. Hooper School as a reader to the young children.
She is survived by her son, Jack (Marilee) Wieber; her five grandchildren, Melissa Marie, Christopher David, Daniel James, Jonathan Ian and Josiah Jordan; four brothers, Joseph (Ann) of Long Island, NY, Clarence (Kay) of Des Plaines, Louis (Patricia) of Apple Valley, CA and Edward of Michigan City, IN; and a sister-in-law, Jennette of Michigan City, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1998.
Funeral Services will be 9:30 AM on Wednesday, September 12, 2001 from RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Rt. 83, Lake Villa, IL, 60048, to Prince of Peace Church for a 10 AM Funeral Mass. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Lake Villa Rescue Squad or Masses at Prince of Peace Church.
Peter R. Young
Peter R. Young, 87, of Hawthorn Lakes, Vernon Hills, IL, passed away Mon. September 10, 2001 at his home. He was born May 29, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA and was a former 40 year resident of Glencoe. He was also a former resident of Evanston and has lived in Vernon Hills for the past three years.
Surviving are three children, Peter (Susan) Young, Jr. of Wadsworth, Douglas Young of Evanston and Linda Koco of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren and his sister Mary Fedorka of St. Louis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Laura S. Young in 1962, by his second wife Betty B. Young in 2001 and by his brother Rudolph Yuriga.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave., (Rt. 120) Libertyville. Interment services will be held at Ridgewood cemetery in Des Plaines on Thursday. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday until time of services. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
Helen M. Cooper
Helen M. Cooper, 85, of Vernon Hills, passed away Monday, September 9, 2002 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born December 17, 1916 in Chicago, was a former 46 year resident of Elmwood Park and has lived in Vernon Hills since 1996.
Surviving are her son John (Sara) Cooper, Jr. of Lake Forest; 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Joseph Rohrer) Cooper of Burlingame, CA and John L. (Samantha) Cooper, III of Chicago; 2 great grandchildren, Alexander and Matthew Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Cooper in 1998 and by her brother Joseph Miller.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville, with a prayer service offered by Father Joseph Curtis, of St. Mary of Vernon Parish in Vernon Hills at 6:00 p.m. Interment services will be at Irving Park cemetery in Chicago Thursday morning. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army in her memory.
Helen Celesnik
Helen Celesnik, 84, of Waukegan, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2002. She was born May 13, 1918 in North Chicago, IL.
She was a member of the Queen of Peace Church, and a former member of Mother of God Church. She was also a member of South Slavonic Catholic Union, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union, American Fraternal Union and U.S. Steel Retirees.
She is retired from U.S. Steel.
She is survived by one son, Ronald (Karen) Celesnik; three grandchildren, David Celesnik, Mary (Brian) Hunter and Jennifer (Joe) Sanchez; four great-grandchildren, Amanda and Nicholis Sanchez and Andrew and Alec Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tony Celesnik; parents Joseph and Marie Halas; two sisters, Ann Reinhart and Mary Drennen and one brother, Art Halas.
Funeral service will be 10AM Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Queen of Peace Church with Father Jim Merold officiating. Burial at Ascension cemetery. Visitation at Marsh Funeral Home, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL.
