Darin L. Dimitroff
Darin L. Dimitroff, 38, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2002 at his home. He was born October 29, 1963 in Waukegan, and was a member of St. Dismas Church. He was employed at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago as a chemical operator.
Survivors include his son Darin, Jr. of Waukegan; his parents Tom and Eileen Dimitroff of Waukegan; 2 brothers Daniel (Denise) Dimitroff of Waukegan and Dean (Janet) Dimitroff of St. Michael, MA; 2 sisters Debra Dimitroff of San Antonio, TX and Dawn Dimitroff of Waukegan; his grandmother Ellen Carpenedo of Green Bay, WI; and several nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2002 at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan with Fr. Jack Ryan officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Trust Fund for Darin, Jr. Arrangements entrusted to MARSH FUNERAL HOME.
Thomas Domalik
Thomas Domalik, 58, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2002 at the VA Hospital in Chicago. He was born November 10, 1943 and was a member of the American Legion. Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his son Allen (Iran) Domalik; 2 grandchildren Elizabeth Maria and Allen Thomas; a brother Stanley (Dorothy) of Napa, CA; 2 sisters Claudette (Ronald) Fields of Annapolis, MD and Angeline Bickwermert of Waukegan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Josephine; a brother Edward and a sister Sally Bederski.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2002 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St. Burial will be at Ascension cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Berniece Foley
Berniece Foley, 85, of Vernon Hills, IL, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2002 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born September 6, 1917 in Milwaukee, was a former resident of Arlington Heights and a Libertyville and Vernon Hills resident for the past 11 years. Berniece was a retired executive secretary from the Audit Bureau of Circulations in Schaumburg. She was a former president of the Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary, was a volunteer at the Condell Medical Center Sleep Clinic and an active member of the Audubon Society.
Surviving are her son Jeff (Cathy) Foley of Libertyville; 3 grandchildren, Brett, Kevin and Kendra. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ida Scheid and by her sister Harriet Bunker.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave, (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will be at Woodlawn cemetery in Milwaukee. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
Evelyn D. Juergens
Evelyn D. Juergens, 40 years old, of Antioch, IL passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 9, 2002, in Racine, WI. She was born November 8, 1961 in Chicago, the daughter of Theodore and Dorothy (Larson) Juergens. She had lived in Antioch since 1970 where she graduated from Antioch Community High School in 1979 and was currently attending the College of Lake County. Evelyn enjoyed cooking and was a loving caregiver for her mother.
Survivors include: her two sons, Ryan and Paul; her mother, Dorothy Juergens of Antioch; a brother, Edwin of Phillips, WI; two sisters, Gay (Dr. Robert) Sven of Solon Mills, IL and Louise Stephens of Fox Lake, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore, and two brothers: Paul and Ted Juergens.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2002 at STRANG FUNERAL HOME of ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rt. 83). Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 p.m. until time of services. Interment of cremains will be Saturday, September 14, 2002 at 1:15 p.m. in Hillside cemetery, Antioch.

Norman Hojem
Norman Hojem, 88, of Fox Lake, died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at Winchester House, Libertyville. He was born September 30, 1913 in Chicago and had lived in Fox Lake for the past three years.
Mr. Hojem was a retired painter and member of Painters Local #147. In the 1930's he had worked for the CCC.
He is survived by his wife, Linnea of 66 years; his daughter, Gerrie (Charles) Neville of Libertyville; his son, Glenn (Margaret) Hojem of Madison, WI; his grandchildren, Ben and Alex Hojem, Debbie (Carl) Drake of Green Oaks, Kathy Neville of Grayslake, Kevin (Jan) Neville of Lake Forest, Arlene (David) Rose of Beach Park and Darlene (Kent) Yandel of Lake Bluff; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Richard (Evelyn) Hojem.
Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at McMurrough Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville. Interment will be at Memory Gardens cemetery, Arlington Heights. Visitation Tuesday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.

Robert M. Liebgott
Robert M. Liebgott, 52, of Mettawa, IL, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the Lake Forest Hospital. He was born June 18, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York.
He was raised in Park Forest, IL and was a 1968 graduate of Rich Central High School. Rob continued his education and was a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago and was currently the Senior Vice President of Tru Serv Corporation (True Value Hardware Stores). He was also formerly active with Little League Baseball in Libertyville and was a strong supporter of the Libertyville High School Baseball Program.
Surviving are his wife Ginger and sons Ryan and Matt Liebgott, all of Mettawa; his brother, Dr. Allan (Susan) Liebgott of Littleton, CO and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Alida Liebgott.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Visitation will be from 3:00PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Raymond W. Kaczmaryn
Raymond W. Kaczmaryn, 76 of Waukegan died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at St. Therese Hospital.
Ray was born August 31, 1926 in North Chicago, and lived in this area all of his life. He was a member of St. Dismas Church, the St. Dismas Men's Club and the Knights of Columbus Council # 731, a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and retired from Commonwealth Edison Company, Northbrook Office, in 1989.
Ray is survived by his wife, Mildred (nee Gregorin), his daughters; Diane (Roger) Hegyi of Laguna Niguel, CA., and Debra (Ronald) Dewar of Bolingbrook, IL., grandchildren; Leah and Kevin Hegyi, a sister, Virginia Hardie of Claremont, CA., also nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by parents, William and Mary; brothers, Aloysius and Edmund; and sister, Violet Ball.
Visitations will be from 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at THE SALATA GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL and from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan, IL. Funeral Mass will follow. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung and Heart Assoc., in his memory.
Etta Mae Lattimore
Etta Lattimore was born on July 11, 1916 in Augusta, Georgia, the daughter of Vanderbilt and Laura Blanchard. She moved to Waukegan, IL in 1944 before making North Chicago, IL her home where she raised her two children, Anne and Willie Blanchard. She worked at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center for 33 years before retiring from foodservice in 1977.
After living a very full and well loved life, Etta was called to peace on September 5, 2002 at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, IL. She was preceded in death by her two children, daughter Anne Blanchard and son Willie Blanchard, her sister Bernice Callahan, her two brothers Art and Fred Blanchard and her grandson Brian Blanchard.
She is survived by her brother, Vanderbilt (Cozy) Blanchard Jr. of North Chicago, daughter-in-law Ida Blanchard-Jones of Zion, sister-in-law Mary Blanchard of Waukegan; 9 grandchildren, Sherene, Kenneth and Louis Blanchard of North Chicago, Denene Pipes-Washington (Lester) of Waukegan, Shaun Blanchard and Anthony Thompson of Zion, Dena and Dana Blanchard of Nevada and Adele (Tracy) Roberson of Bolingbrook; 9 great-grandchildren, Kendra Blanchard of Zion, Morris Gray, Andrew Williams, Matthew Pipes, Kevin Washington, Jared, Darius and Kayla Blanchard all of Waukegan, Alexandria Blanchard of Nevada; 2 great great-grandchildren, Dedrick Jackson Jr. and De'Ashalai Blanchard of Zion. In addition to the surviving children of her sister Bernice, 1 nephew Vanderbilt Blanchard of Minnesota; 3 nieces Marie (Randy) Furlow and Cindy Blanchard of Waukegan, and Carol Willliams of California; 3 great-nieces; 5 great-nephews and 2 dear friends, Emma Jackson and Cassie Gray both of North Chicago and God-daughter Ryeshone (Josh) Poe of Iowa as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, September 12, 2002 at First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 1529 Elizabeth Avenue, North Chicago, IL, Rev. Eugene Roberson, Pastor, Rev. Richard McLaughlin
Richard McLaughlin, 50, a former 20 year resident of Libertyville, died suddenly June 24, 2002 in Portsmouth in the Commonwealth of Dominica. At the time of his death, Mr. McLaughlin was a medical student at Ross University Dominica. He was a graduate of Colorado at Boulder. Richard received his MS in Biology from Northeastern Illinois University.
He is survived by his father John (Sandy Oldershaw) of Chicago; his sisters Lynn Herlihy of New York, and Pamela (David) Crawford of Zion; his brother James of Mundelein; and his niece and nephews Michael, Erin and Brian Herlihy. He is preceded in death by his mother Marie and his brother John III.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14 at MCMURROUGH CHAPEL, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, with the Rev. Fr. Robert Oldershaw officiating. Interment at Ascension cemetery. Ellen A. McMasters
Ellen A. McMasters, 47, of Gurnee, IL, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 7, 2002 at her home. She was born March 26, 1955 at Great Lakes, IL, was raised in Libertyville and had lived in Gurnee for the past 25 years. She was a 1973 graduate of Libertyville High School.
Surviving are her father, Lloyd M. Marshall of Libertyville; her sister Jane (William) Wells of Lake Villa, 2 nieces, Allison and Corinna and nephew Kyle. She was preceded in death by her husband David W. McMasters in 1976 and by her mother Patricia J. Marshall in 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery. Earl Palo
Earl Palo, age 82, passed away Monday, September 9 at Condell Medical Center.
He worked for Cities Service Oil Company for over 35 years until his retirement. Earl was a longtime resident of Grayslake and a loyal Ram fan. He was also a member of St. Gilbert's Catholic Church and an Army veteran of WW II.
Earl is survived by his children: Barbara (Kevin) Harris of Antioch, Patricia A. Loar of Lake Villa, Robert (Janet) Palo of Grayslake, Mike (Grace) Palo of Third Lake, and James (Desiree) Palo of Kenosha, WI; his sisters-in-law: Ellen Michael Schafer O.S.F. of Alleghany, NY and Barbara Palo of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mike Harris, Jim, Matt (Amanda), Tom Loar, Jenny, Jeff, Lance (Holly), Jason (Bobbie), Lisa, Kimberly, and Tim Palo. Earl is survived by his great-grandsons: Ben and Tyler Palo.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Palo; a son, Richard Palo; a sister, Norma Palo; a brother, Robert Palo.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday, September 12 at St. Gilbert's Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL. Rev. Father Beaven will be officiating. Loretta G. Opeka
Loretta G. Opeka, age 94, of Grayslake, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2002 at Claremont Rehabilitation Center. She was known for her love of playing cards, especially Pinochle. Member of the North Chicago Senior Citizens and was active in bowling and bicycle riding well into her eighties.
The devoted mother of Janet Shaver, she is also survived by her grandchildren Michael Shaver, Debra (Jeff) Miller, and Robert Shaver, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John F. Opeka, whom she wed on November 8, 1926, a son, Richard, a daughter Loretta, and six brothers.
Friends are invited to meet at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 22333 W. Ehrhart Rd., Mundelein, IL 60060, on Thursday, September 12, 2002 where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM by Rev. Fr. Ronald J. Lewinski. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until Mass time. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.
