Lucille E. Petersen, 81, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at the Lake Forest Hospital. She was born September 12, 1920 in the Diamond Lake area of Mundelein and had been a Libertyville resident for most of her life.
Surviving are 2 sons, Raymond (Donna) Petersen of Libertyville and Dennis (Linda) Petersen of McHenry; 4 grandchildren, Shane (Shereen) Petersen of Spring Grove, Jason Petersen of McHenry, Victoria (fiancee Perry Lewis) Petersen of Mancos, CO and Rhea Petersen of Lake Villa; 2 great grandchildren, Ethan and Rilea Petersen; 5 sisters, Arlene Parker of Dallas, TX, Violet Longcore of Vero Beach, FL, Ellen (Howard) Peters of McHenry, Ruby (Jerry) Nordness of Lake Villa and Gertrude (Vern) Stolte of Wisconsin; 2 brothers, Gilbert and James Thatcher of Whitewater, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Celena (nee La Magdeleine) Thatcher, by her brothers Thomas, John, Alfred and Wilber Thatcher and by her sisters, Babe Streicher and Elaine Titus.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, September 14 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at Ivanhoe cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Brain Tumor Assn., 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018.
Phyllis Small
Phyllis Small, 78, of Waukegan, passed away Monday, September 9, 2002 at her home. She was born August 7, 1924 in Shell Lake, WI. She was a member of Holy Family Church and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Floyd "Sam"; her 3 sons, Bradley, Walter and James; 2 sisters Vernice Lee and Lucielle Winton; 1 brother Russel Hansen; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Adah Hansen; and 3 brothers, Roy, Kenneth and Phillip Hansen.
Memorial Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2002 at Holy Family Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis's memory to a charity of your choice or Holy Family Church. MARSH FUNERAL HOME is handling the arrangements for the family.
Lora Pearl Aiken
Lora Pearl Aiken, 81, of Delavin, WI, formerly of Round Lake Beach, passed away Monday, September 8, 2003 at her home in Delavin. She was born February 13, 1922 in Bemiji, MN. When she was younger, she had been active in Wadsworth 4H, Wadsworth Wrangler, Big Z Saddle Club, and numerous horse shows.
Survivors include four children, Joan (Paul) Smith of Dennis, MS, Robert (Lucille) Aiken of Mooreville, MS, Randall (Diane) Aiken, Sr. of Zion, IL and Alice York of Delavin, WI; son-in-law Hurmon Estes of Round Lake Beach, IL; 24 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; five sisters, Dolores Skinner, Edith McConahey, Della Moore, Barbara Ledford, and Charmaine Bain. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd; a daughter Donna; a son Lloyd Arthur; five brothers; a sister; a grandchild; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd. Interment at Warren cemetery in Gurnee. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Frank Blacker Sr.
Frank Blacker Sr., 77, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at West Moreland Nursing Center in Lake Forest of cancer. He was a retired foreman of the Chicago Sun Times Newspaper. Frank was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Campbell Chapter #712 in Highland Park. In 1994-1996 he was the Grand Representative of New Hampshire. For the past 28 years, he had been the official Grand Chapter Photographer. In 2003 he was appointed the Grand Marshall for Illinois.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Berenice. He is the dearest father to the late James Blacker, Jean (John) O'Brien, Debra (Arnold) Simmons and Frank (Lynda) Blacker Jr. Adored grandfather of Ivy (Marco) Manriquez, Jason Trexler and Jennifer Blacker. Caring great-grandfather of Bilmer and Ryley Manriquez and Gabby Trexler. Also survived by six step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eva Clark. He is the uncle of several nieces and nephews. He is the longtime companion of his dog, Pebbles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Katie; and one sister, Lena Tobin.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM, with a 7:00 Masonic Service and a 7:30 Eastern Star Service, Thursday, September 11, 2003 at KELLY & SPALDING FUNERAL HOME, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park, IL. 60035. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2003 at 10:30 AM at Kelly & Spalding Funeral Home with a graveside service following at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights.

Wayne R. Erickson
Wayne R. Erickson, age 32, of McHenry died Tuesday at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
He was born May 26, 1971 in Highland Park to Jennifer (Wirfs) Erickson and John Erickson.
Survivors include his father John (Laura) Erickson of Genoa City, his mother Jennifer Erickson of McHenry, a sister Jessica (Alfredo) Amezquita of Mundelein, step brothers Matthew (Heather) Erickson and Kris Woppert of Genoa City, two nephews Alfredo Amezquita Jr. and Zachary Erickson, a niece Reese Erickson, and a nephew or niece on the way. Paternal grandmother Adele Erickson, aunts Marcia (Richard) Sparks, Luchelle Werner, uncles Rodger Erickson, Michael (Sharon) Brady, cousins Dustin and Isaac Sparks and several members of the Brady family.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 AM until the 2 PM service at COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry. Interment will be in Woodland cemetery.
G. Frederick George
G. Frederick George, 79, of Green Oaks, IL., passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He was born November 29, 1925 in West Palm Beach, FL. and was a former resident of Jackson, Ohio, living in Libertyville for the past 31 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville. Fred was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a former employee of American Colloid and International Minerals and Chemicals.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia (nee Russell) George of Green Oaks; two children, Christopher George of San Francisco, CA. and Julie (Brian) Fecteau of Gurnee; his two grandchildren, Marina and Matthew.
Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave, (RT176), Libertyville and services will continue to St. Joseph Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday.

Charles S. "Styx" Kennedy
Charles S. "Styx" Kennedy, 55, of Park City, IL, passed away Monday, September 8, 2003 at his home. He was born June 16, 1948 in Muncie, IN. In his younger years he made jewelry, and he loved music and motorcycles.
Survivors include five children, Charles S. (Renee) Kennedy, Jr. of North Carolina, Lynn (Thomas) Barton of Wisconsin, Laura Micele of Wisconsin, Lisa Kennedy of Illinois and Cath Kennedy of Florida; 15 grandchildren; his mother, Young Winter of Park City; three sisters, Pam (Ted) Penix of Indiana, Randi (Les) Mussared and Maria Holcombe, both of Illinois; and his brother, Butch Kennedy of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald, in 1994.
Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF LINDENHURST, 1840 East Grand Ave. Interment is private. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. Thursday until time of services at the funeral home. Donations to the family would be appreciated.
Robert Lee Maze
Robert Lee Maze, 78, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2003 at his home. He was born July 31, 1925 in Clarksburg, WV, and his family was his hobby. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. In February of 1988 he retired from Commonwealth Edison as a boiler operator after 32 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Arlene; four children Kristeen Soderquist of Waukegan, Regina (Tom) Gilliland of Lindenhurst, Charles Maze of Northfield, IL and Joanne (Larry) Darling of Lindenhurst; five grandchildren, James, Laura, Scott, Carrie and Heather; three great grandchildren, Adam, Alex and Sandra; two sisters, Fay (Bill) Lattea of North Carolina and Louella Snyder of Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother Herbert Maze, as well as his parents.

Billie D. McKinney (Buszta), 66, an antique dealer, previously of Antioch, currently of Las Vegas, NV, died September 1, 2003.
She is survived by her husband Arthur; her daughter, Tracy Celeste Freeman (Russ) of Lake Villa; sons, Robert Stanley Buszta, Dwayne Nicholas Buszta and Brian Christopher Buszta, all of Las Vegas; sisters Helen and Ruth; brothers Robert, Nixon, Leo, Nick and Ping; six grandchildren, Christine, Tommy, Brannon, Bricey, Bradley and Micaio.
Visitation 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Services follow on Saturday, September 6 at PALM MORTUARY, 7400 W. Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas.
Warren A. Nicholas Jr.
Warren A. Nicholas Jr., 81, of Libertyville, IL., passed away suddenly Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at the Condell Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1922 in Libertyville and was a fifth generation resident of Lake County. He was a 1940 graduate of Libertyville High School and was the scoreboard operator for football and basketball games at Libertyville High School since 1958. For all his services, Nick was inducted into the IL. Basketball Hall of Fame and the IL. Athletic Director's Hall of Fame.
He was the former owner of Huber Electric in Lake Bluff, retiring in 1995 and was a member and past master of the Libertyville Masonic Lodge, #492 AF & AM. Nick was also a life member of the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society and was a founder and first president of the Libertyville Little League. He was active with the Boy Scouts and chaired the committee that created Libertyville High School District #128.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley (nee Tiffany) Nicholas; three children, Warren A. (Eleanor) Nicholas III of Libertyville, Earl H. Nicholas of Barrington and Elizabeth (Jim) Walker of Vail, AZ; his six grandchildren, Carrie (Mark) Sarver, Warren A. "Nick" Nicholas IV, Richard Austin Larrabee, Earl and James Larrabee and Frances Walker; and his great-grandson, Drew Sarver. Also surviving are numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren A. Sr,. and Ruth (nee Wells) Nicholas.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave, (RT176), Libertyville.
Masonic Services will be held during the Visitation at 4:00 PM. Private Interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.

John Smee
John Smee, 85, of Libertyville, died Monday September 8, 2003 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was born February 26, 1918 in Chicago, and was a lifelong Libertyville resident. John was an operating engineer and a master welder. He had been employed by Peter Baker and Co., Greco Construction and Arco Midwest Co. John had performed extensive construction work at O'Hare International Airport. He was a personal friend of the Hanlon family and was a former partner of H & H Towing of Libertyville. He served as a non-commissioned officer in the Army's Corp. of Engineers and was attached to the Navy's Sea-Bee Unit where he constructed airfields and bridges throughout the Pacific Theater of War. John was a private pilot and performed countless anonymous charitable acts for people throughout Lake County. In the early 1900's John's late parents, Ernest and Lucy, were the owners of the largest group of work horses in Chicago, numbering more than 200.
He is survived by his sister Lucy Holman of Libertyville; his devoted companion of many years, Esther Huebsch; his niece Lucy Godwin of England; his nephew Martin (Sue) Davern of Zion; and his extended family Rick, Karen, Jaclyn, Kristen, Gayle, John, Heather, Kevin, Dustin, Rusty, and Alyson. He was preceded in death by his sister Madge Maude Davern.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 11, 2003 at MCMURROUGH CHAPEL, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, with the Rev. James D. Christensen officiating. Interment will be at Lakeside cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. James Michael Stastny
James Michael Stastny, 48, formerly of Waukegan, presently of Hesperia, MI, passed away Monday, September 8, 2003 suddenly at home in Hesperia, MI. He was born January 24, 1955 in Medford, WI.
Jim was a loving father, avid fisherman, and a devoted Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Survivors include two adoring daughters Jennifer and Jodie Stastny, and his loving ex-wife Julie Stastny, all from Beach Park, IL; his mother, Patricia Stastny of Hesperia, MI; two sisters, Barbara Lopez of Waukegan and Deborah Tway of Hesperia, MI; his brother, David Stastny of Hesperia, MI; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Henry Stastny and twin grandsons, Mathew and Jacob Williams.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2003 at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd., and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church.
